Great quite place to stay
Great spot, cottage was a nice stay!
Great spot for families
We stayed in a family room with a double bed and two twin beds which worked great for our family of four. The property has a nice playground which my kids really enjoyed. They also have a social room with pool table, football table, couches and tv/dvd collection. The staff were very helpful and they have coffee, tea and hot chocolate readily available for guests.
We booked this place since it is located in a remote area, away from light pollution. We saw aurora borealis both nights, and it was great. :) Just to set your expectations - the hotel is basically more like a farm, with the central building where you have common facilities (the free coffee is great) and then there are barracks around it - our room was in one of those. We got into the room with the code the hotel sent us - you should type it on a keypad which is on the door handle. Very convenient! The room was small but nice & clean. Very important to mention is that there is little to none isolation, so although the heating was on maximum, the room was so cold we slept fully dressed. The next day we accidentally found an additional small electric heater somewhere outside, so we brought that in. Ideally I'd imagine that someone would check the temperature when they set up the room and get that heater preventively in.
Super nice personal, excellent chef and affordable. Accommodating. You will see the Northern light from the parking lot! It’s very remote which helps to see the Aurora and it’s super quite
Lovely and clean, quiet location and very relaxed!
Basic but very clean and well cared for accommodation. Great base for exploring the area and Golden Circle .
We loved our experience here. This was located in a remote farm that provided peace and solitude. The facilities were extremely well maintained.
Very friendly staff. Shared bathrooms have enough room to provide a cubby for each room. Would be good option to provide so we aren’t carrying toiletries back and forth.
Beautiful estate, quaint charming and pleasant vibes
The hotel is a farm stay in a very quiet countryside. They provide earplugs in case you are a light sleeper and the neighing horses bother your sleep at night. The room and attached bath were clean and spacious. No amenities like a coffee machine but they provide free coffee at the restaurant!
Thank you for all the assistance I also enjoyed the game room
Staff was very helpful and provided us with in room kettle. Overall very good experience for a one night stay. Nice peaceful location!!!
This property is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! My morning view was breathtaking. The staff was very friendly. We arrived late and they left a note at the reception door with instructions just for us which made our check in smoother. Room neat and clean as well as the bathroom. I will definitively book this one again.
Great stay and within reasonable distance to town. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was cozy.
Very good
This place was great and even though there was only one bathroom in the unit, there was another full bathroom outside the main door that we also had access to.
in country, very quiet.
Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Beautiful property. Comfy bed. Great location
Very small room, beds uncomfortable, poor service
Not value for money, far away from convenient store and restaurant
Very nice and clean place to stay
The location and surrounding are very peaceful.
Cute, simple.
Stayed in one of the little cabins. It worked great for us. Out in the country, very relaxing. Free coffee in the mornings. We weren't big fans of what we ate in the restaurant. I'd recommend eating in town.
A good honest farmhouse in the fields (15min drive from Selfoss) with a nice restaurant on the premises. The rooms are a bit small and the pictures are well manicured.
Will not stay here again. the room is very small under half basement.
A few miles off the ring road out in the quiet countryside.
Great staff...good food
Very convenient for a quick stop for a day! Room was a little small for our family of 5 but we managed since it was only a day. Food was wonderful and they even did our laundry for us!
Cute little stay!
The Vatnsholt guest house was perfect! It was such a great place to stay after doing the golden circle and wanting to head out to Vik the next day to explore and see the waterfalls. Yes, it is true, it is small, but I don't think you need much else. Its the cutest little thing with a beautiful view. Comfy and cozy bed, clean bathroom, slippers, towels, and linens provided. I recommend this to anyone / 2 people looking for a place to stay the night. We skipped the breakfast but I'm sure its good! the staff was also very nice. :)
Friendly staff, comfortable bed
Although the cabins were tiny it served its purpose for viewing the northern lights and the staff were exceptionally friendly. It is pretty far from any other sites retauraunts etc..
The reception staff moved me to another smaller room without any clear reason, even though they have sent me the room # and key box code of the first room to my email. Hope they can improve their service in the future.
The place is great, and the staff was wonderful. We checked in on christmas eve, and they offered icelandic dinner buffet which was great.
Good for a 1 night stay
The room was clean and the bed fine. But the room was small; my wife and i took turns opening our suitcases. Location was nice, but a little ways out of Selfoss.
No more hot water after 2 persons done their bathing
Nice little hotel, got to see the northern lights
Clean, quiet, warm, tea/coffee/juice/water available till 23:00, friendly and helpful staff, good value for money. There's a table/chair in the room. With two single beds located in two different corners of the room, only one had access to a socket (no use of the little lamp near the bed, no chance to charge your phone near the bed). The reception and common area with tea and coffee are in a different building than the rooms. So I would really appreciate a kettle and mugs in a room or at least in the buildings where the rooms are. This would make sense when you arrive after 23:00 or when the weather's terrible.
Dissatisfied
The double room booked was very small and misleading from the pictures, it felt like a small cabin. The room booking stated a queen sized bed, however I got two small beds pushed together. The bathroom facilities were not great. I would not stay here again
Friendly staff. This place offers nice, clean rooms, and a decent chill space should you wish to hangout with your friends. Parking is great here! Tons of space to park! Breakfast was solid too. They offered waffles!
Perfect stay when you are on the road
Very quiet and nice clean bathrooms
I booked 7 hotels around Iceland and this was the only one comparable to a Fosshotel. Service is fantastic!.. friendly staff, property is cute, the even give you an eye mask and slippers! Definitely this was the best value for money.
Very quaint hotel with wonderful staff
Room was small but nice. The main building had a really cool lounge/rec area with a pool table, foosball table, games, tv, couches, etc. it was a cool vibe. The restaurant was also very good.
Stayed here to save some money in Selfoss area. Booked room with private bath and it was comfortable but the farm is about 20 mins out of the city. Rooms are not ventilated unless you open windows- but you are on a horse farm. If ever there was a reason for a European hotel to have screens on their windows - this is it. Flies are common. Staff were excellent - the young lady checking us in ensured that were clear on where our room as and escorted us to our room. Breakfast buffet was serviceable but nothing special. Again, the staff were the highpoint of the breakfast.
room was so tiny. MAYBE 8’ wide and without any comforts at all
Nice place to stay , totally recommend
This place was fantastic. It was a great halfway point for us on our way to Vik from Reykjavik. The reception and dining hall was great and full of people singing, eating, drinking when we pulled up late at night. It was so much fun. We had a great 3 bedroom 1 bath lodging for our party and it was wonderful. They even include branded slippers, eye masks for sleep, and earplugs. Although, we didn't require them as the rooms had adequate room darkening blinds. Highly recommend!
Beautiful farmhouse
We loved this place to pieces. It is a working farm where locals go for vacation. Very down to earth, wide open spaces, at home feeling. Had a great time meeting and bonding with other guests in the common room. Good food, great vibes. Definitely not Citi luxury, it’s country charm.
The property is on the old side and could use a refurbishing, but overall it is fine. The rooms are basic, but clean and functional. The outdoor area is really nice. There are horses, a playground and they had a cool inflatable air slide set up. Food is also good.
Beautiful surounding in the middle of the pasture landscape and very nice to stay
Nice farm setting.
The young people who were working during our stay were extremely friendly and helpful. The guesthouse has a lot of nice amenities like a common room that people can hang out in with a pool table, dart boards, comfortable couches and turtles. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are available all day. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for our exploration of the Golden Circle. Overall, a great stay!
Appears to be a converted farm, beautiful lands. Room had the best light control so we could really sleep well. Space was tight though, difficult to move around bed.
Our little cottage was terrific. Clean and just as described. Staff were friendly and nice.
Didn’t give us the right room
Booked for 6 people. Gave us a place for four people max. We showed up Kate and they had obviously given our room to someone else even though we paid for it months ago. Two people slept on the floor and saw a cockroach.
Very cute cabin, comfortable and cozy. Great breakfast. Off the beaten path
We only stayed for one night but we’re very comfortable in our room, maybe a bit on the small side for a longer stay though. Everything was spotlessly clean and the staff were excellent in all respects. No close by dining options but that wasn’t a problem as their own restaurant was open for dinner, which like the breakfast was extremely good and not overly expensive.
We enjoyed the rural property and found our rooms comfortable.
the room is small but cute and clean. could be better if there could be light blocking blinds for the windows during summer
Recommended
Cozy guest house with friendly staff. The cottage is very tiny and the hot water tank only good for one shower and takes time to reheat water. The wind noise is seriously loud and I find out why they provide earplugs as amenities 😅
We were very happy with the room and the lounge/dining room. The staff was very welcoming and the pizza at dinner was delicious. The morning of our departure we woke to find that the reception area, lounge and dining area were all locked closed and no one was inside. We waited until nearly 8 AM and eventually left. We did not pre-pay for breakfast like others had, but it was an unusual end to our stay.
Nice country stay
Great place. Nice accommodations. Small but comfortable
Muy atentos, nos tocó una habitación remotamente alejada y nos guiaron hasta la misma ,un servicio muy especial ,muchas Gracias!!!
Friendly staff and Good breakfast. Good location
Easy to locate, on the way in terms of travel to vik, staff was super friendly gave us a quick tour of the property, room was so cozy after a cold day of exploring. great price, beautiful landscape view,
This was a great find for us for a one-night's stay. We stayed in the building behind the main buidling - the room is tiny but our primary need was a bed and shower. Seemed recently renovated - clean and modern. The view from the room was a wide open field which, lucky for us, allowed us to see the Northern Lights from bed! The staff was nice and we paid the $2,000kr for breakfast in morning - maybe a tad overpriced but considering how remote you are from town, it was totally worth it - your typical European-style breakfast. Given the very reasonable price, totally recommend for those who want (a chance) to see the Northern Lights from the comfort of a hotel property and not wandering random roads and fields at night.
All good
Enjoyed my little cabin. Good breakfast and dinner.
I stayed in a standard cabin and it was adorable with great views and private bathroom in the cabain!
Good accommodations, breakfast not included
Beatiful location
We stayed in one of the tiny little brown houses and it was adorable! We could hear sheep baaing during the night. It was definitely a unique experience. It took a while for the little house to warm up but once it did, we were comfy. The bathroom is itsy bitsy but it was fine for our one night stay. The dining room area was very nice and dinner was excellent! There is also a very nice playground for kids, something no other hotel had during our roadtrip. It was a very convenient location as well. Would definitely recommend!
Hotel was nice
La chambre était petite mais abordable ! Il y a une salle publique avec babyfoot , billard etc avec un petit bar à brevage gratuit (café thé jus) pour vos soirées
Traveling
Room comfortable with great views around seeing mountains in the distance and lake with horses. Breakfast had a lot of food but have to pay extra.
Lovely converted farmhouse. Deluxe room was very comfortable. Stairs and tub could be challenging to seniors. Good breakfast at approx 1600 ISK. No kettle in room but we asked and got one. Rooms are located in buildings around farm away from main building some further than others. Great views with horses on site and lake.
Clean and cosy, comfortable location surrounding, nice staff and food options.
Very friendly and helpful personnel
A lovely family place with so much to do for the kids, a very sweet staff, good breakfast and beautiful surroundings.
Beautiful place, clean and very hospitable. We had a great two night stay in the private cottages.
The room is very small, if you are travel with huge luggage , very hard to put things in the room. The surrounding is big but I am not sure why the room build into so small for the price I paid ..
This property was incredibly cute and a comfortable stay. The main area had a restuarant, bar and a recreation room with a pool table that we enjoyed using in the evening.
more electrical outlets will be better.
Nice basic hotel, situated amidst green fields and surrounded by quiet. Great place to spend the night
the staff was great and gave tips on things to do and see. the rooms were clean and slept great. dinner at night was well done and loved it. enjoyed first night there so much i added nights and used as base to see things in the area
Clean, quiet stay, convenient to amenities and sites
The room was super hot, and we couldn’t figure out how to turn off the heat.
The best place for me
Extremely polite and helpful staff!
Basic, comfortable room, functional dining area.
Room clean and comfortable but no TV or tea/coffee facilities in room as described. Decor and arrangement in dining/breakfast areas very functional and odd selection of memorabilia and pictures scattered around. “Chill out” room equipped with games and activities, no English speaking channels on TV in shared space. Staff pleasant and helpful. Breakfast expensive for what is provided.
Room was nice and clean. I booked a private room with a washroom. Room was warm as I stayed a night in late December. Easy check in. Staff was friendly. You do need a vehicle to get to the location as its in the middle on nowhere.
Very friendly staff. We felt safe and comfortable.
Amazing stay with helpful staff. I booked this very last minute and the staff was there until 10pm to check me in. Also, the location is perfect for checking out the northern lights. It is not completely secluded but the light pollution is very low and you can see the sky perfectly.
Very cute property, and loved our room. Was very clean, and cosy, and had wonderful views of the surrounding property. Only complaint is that while we had a room with our own bathroom, the shared bathroom was beside our room, and you could hear everything. It woke us up at night when people were using it.
Great room, good facilites
Great room, with a restaurant on site. Breakfast was not included, but we paid the extra as the buffet looked good. Free tea and coffee in the main building as well as a pool table. It would be a good location to spot the northern lights, but we had cloud and snow the night we stayed!
Great stay, small but clean and quiet rooms, responsive staff
Wonderful! Saw northern lights from my room
I stayed in the deluxe room with bath. It was a beautiful design and clean. The room and bathroom were big. Best of all, I could see the northern lights from the window in the bedroom and bathroom (the bathroom even has a skylight you can watch them from). It was on the top floor and quiet. The bath tub/shower was awkward because the ceiling cuts in, so you can't stand up to shower. You can also easily hit your head on the ceiling next to the bed. There's no elevator, and the stairs are steep.

The place was cozy, and I really appreciated that it had everything I needed. Its proximity to the next town, combined with great views and a quiet atmosphere, made it an ideal getaway. Thankful for the wonderful experience!
