This hotel didn’t match the pictures. It’s not in a good location. No glasses provided. Girlfriend stepped on broken glass near the bed. Probably a location good for backpackers, not for a typical vacationer.

Color Kata is a great budget hotel. The rooms are very spacious and the WiFi works perfect. They have a full kitchen if you want to cook, and offer free coffee and tea. They have a cute restaurant right next door, where I ate a delicious breakfast and lunch. It’s in a busy area with lots of shops, restaurants, laundry services and massage shops. 15 min walk to the Kata night Market and Kata Beach. Please note that the hotel don’t provide hand soap nor shampoo, but there is a 7 eleven store very close where you can buy what you need at a very affordable price. I recommend the Color Kata hotel to budget travelers.

For me the best thing was the ground floor kitchen, I really like it specially in the morning and at night. Tony was the best manager at the hotel reception.

Great deal

A little leak in the window during a heavy rain storm. Not a big issue, and for the price and the wonderful staff I would definitely recommend.

Ok hotel in Kata

The location isn’t great because you need to circumvent a resort to get to the beach. I wasn’t very impressed with the staff. Also, there’s not real privacy in the room-bathroom has glass doors. So beware of that if you’re traveling with friends. However it’s cheap so I guess we got what we paid for.

Would not stay again

Toilet didn’t not flush, mosquitos and ants in room, smell of sewage, thin walls. Rooms are very outdated and do not look like pictures.

The staff here are super friendly and nice but the management clearly do NOT give a monkey what their international visitors think! I am writing to complain about the overall standard of: The Color Kata. There was absolutely no hot water for the duration of my stay. After the torrential downpour there was a significant amount of water that had leaked down the wall in the toilet making the floor wet and consequently, slippery and dangerous. I was offered the opportunity to move rooms, which initially was fine. On my last night I walked into the room and watched a baby rat drop from the art work over and above the bed. The rat half bounced and half jumped down off the bed and onto the floor then ran behind the fridge. As you may imagine I was pretty shocked and wanted to contact reception immediately to get this rodent removed. As I approached the telephone to call reception the rat ran under the bed and jumped up into the gap between the wall and the artwork. In the UK if this same incident happened they would close the hotel immediately. I have absolutely no issue with your charming staff at the hotel, however and unfortunately, in my opinion the hotel is below any international standard. The manager didn't give a monkey and was too busy apparently to talk to me about my complaint. The management feel they addressed the issue with me by upgrading me to the hotel next door, whilst I appreciated this gesture it wasn't convenient to move rooms. A rat in a hotel room?

No water

This was the second time I booked this hotel and this time it missed the mark by a long shot. Terrible, stayed for 6 days no water on sink for 5 days, no water to shower for 1 day and no hot water for 3 days. I had to complain about not having a phone and not having a waist basket. Their excuse for the sink not working was first in a little bit. Then sorry we are working on it. And it NEVER got done. It only worked on the first day. I will tell everyone never to stay in this hotel.

Good stay

In the beginning on the first day things were not to good. However, once I let staff know about some issues they took care of them right away. As a courtesy they upgraded me and I was very satisfied. Even the free shuttle service to the beach was on time everyday. I will stay in this hotel again.

Value for money, nice hotel & great staff.

The hotel is a little dated but for a 2-Star hotel it is value for money, the service is excellent and prompt. When we arrived, we were told the lift was out of service but the staff carried our luggages all the way up to level 3 without hesitation. But this is a no smoking hotel, you can't smoke in the rooms but you can smoke in the lobby. Good if you're keen on making friends. From the pictures the hotel looks a fresh but I guess it's been a couple of years they need to start replacing some of their furnitures and they need to replace their pillows, it's originally 1 pillow per person but the pillows were flat so we requested extra pillows and they sent it better ones less than 5 minutes. They have really amazing service. The Pizza place, beside the hotel has really good food if you're lazy on somedays. And there's a tour agency the other side of the hotel Katekawn (can't remember) but they are working with the hotel so you don't actually have to give up your passport to rent a bike which is also a plus. Overall we loved our stay with The Color Kata!

Convenient and Clean

I found the front desk to be very attentive to my needs. The room was Very spacious. I prefer more natural light in my room. And so when I checked in and there was no window. I was allowed to switch rooms and get a place with a front window which helped me a lot.

We were very pleased with The Color. The staff was awesome and the room was great. Housekeeping kept the property and our room clean. High speed Wifi was available in our room. The front desk staff was quick to answer our questions. And a free shuttle was available to take us to and from the beach between 9 AM and 6 PM. We were equally pleased with other businesses across the street. A massage/spa business directly across the street provided wonderful services. The Swiss Tiger was good for a few drinks each night. And two restaurants next to the Swiss Tiger served great breakfasts. The travel service to the left of The Color provided good rates for trips and to rent a motorbike. To experience truly local food don’t miss the breakfast served at the little store two or three store fronts to the right of The Color. We tried many of the restaurants in the area and was not once disappointed.

Cute Hotel, Great location

I read some reviews about this property being far from the beach and that couldn't be further from the truth (unless you're incredibly lazy and can't walk 5-10 minutes). It's near bars and restaurants, but most importantly the staff here was amazing! Always friendly and happy to help. Very cute hotel - both the lobby and the rooms. The only downside were the beds which were the hardest I've ever come across, although with this being said I actually slept really well. Maybe hard beds aren't necessarily bad? Great hotel. Should I return to Phuket I would definitely stay here again.

Nice Micro Hotel!

The room was clean and the staff were very friendly. It was only for one night when we arrived before we moved to another area but the hotel was exactly what were looking for. Clean, slightly modern, conveniently located, and comfortable.

Frame of reference

It's not Club Med or the likes but it's not too bad. Takes a little getting used to. The shower/sink combo is a unique use of space but in practice leaves a bit to be desired. The mattress was the firmest mattress I've ever slept on but the room was neat and clean. You'll save a great deal over the trendier places which means more money for nights out. Overall I'd rate it a 3.5

Awesome amenities

Love the fact that it is a small room with the latest amenities.. Like the fact that it has a flat screen PC facing the bed for surfing net and watching movies.. just that the CPU could be faster. Love the jungle shower point in the bathroom too.. would be perfect if the toilet and bathroom are linked. Water starts to flow out from the floor which is bothersome, but bearable at the cost we paid - such a steal for its location! Staff were all very friendly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

Great stay at The Color Kata

We spent two nights here in June and although we were a bit dubious of the location before our stay, it worked out great. It is just minutes away from the beautiful Kata beach and a short walk from Karon beach. Our room was clean and modern. When we wanted to print, staff were accommodating and friendly. All in all a really nice stay.

Great price and location

Great hotel experience. Great location, very clean and super cheap! Would stay there again.

About a 10-15 minute walk from the beach, you have to go around the club med which adds to the distance. A few restaurants near by and it's very quiet at night. Room only has a tiny window that faces the hallway.

Great location and friendly staff

It was a great experience, the hotel is located centrally,close to shops and beaches and the staff were fantastic. I was on the third floor and avoided most of the traffic noise as Katekwan Road is quite busy.

Modern and Comfortable Hotel

We only stayed here one night, but we loved our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone who is staying near Kata Beach. It's off the main road, so you don't have to deal with too much of the traffic and noise, but close enough to all the touristy areas. The hotel staff was great - so helpful and sweet.

Good for young couples

A very nice and unusual hotel. A bed is really huge and convenient! The stuff is very friendly and polite, and they really try hard to please you! Because of the toilets' glass walls the rooms are good only for a single occupancy or for a very tight couple :( The only negative moment for me was an amount of sinthetic carpets in all the rooms - it is impossible to clean them properly and I personally think it will be much better not to have them, just floor would be good. Also you should mind that most of the rooms have no view - really, NO VIEW AT ALL, because there are another buildings around in one meter distance! There are only three rooms with some sort of view - roof next door and sky, so try to book it in advance. All in all, the hotel is very-very-very good, provides TV and Internet, big umbrellas and slippers, all the bathroom and kitchennette stuff and breakfast free of charge.

New, modern and colorful Hotel!

The name of the Hotel "Color Hotel" suits it perfectly! It was really colorful and modern. The staff were friendly and helpful especially the front desk gal in the morning shift, she helped me print out my return boarding passes and offered to arrange a shuttle to the beach (it was only a 10mins walk but we didnt knew that coz the way they explained, it seem like a long walk) and airport. The only gripe i have is that the bed is not too comfortable; it felt like sleeping directly on the springs and it squeaked every time i turned! Otherwise it was a nice stay with restaurants and massage place beside and opposite the hotel.

You pay for what you get for, maybe a little more

Really love the fact that I get new towels every day, new bedspread, water and free shutter service to the most beautiful beach in Phuket, Kata Beach. They are very on time in everything and very reliable. However the surrounding neighborhood food is pricey but delicious regardless which store is it. Spa that are located near the hotel are cheaper that the ones located near the beach though. I went during low season (that's how my family & I like it, we prefer surfing than sunbathing). Thank God weather was on our side as well. I would stay there again if I visit Phuket in the future. One warning, the smell of the soap provided in the hotel is unbearable for my family & I. Some people liked it though, individual differs.

Ótimo tamanho quarto, cama grande. A configuração do banheiro é um pouco estranha mas acostumamos. Só o cheiro do desinfetante me desagradou. Super limpo.

Väldigt nöjd!

Väldigt nöjd med vistelsen. Fräscht hotell och bra personal. Hade lite problem med stopp i toaletten på rummet men inga större bekymmer. Tyckte mycket om området också. En kort promenad till stranden och nära till allt. Skulle stannat 3 nätter först men förlängde till 6. Nöjd!

Meget beskidt ikke vedligeholdt hotel, de fleste værelser uden vindue og de enkelte der har, er der så meget foran vinduet , så man ikke får meget lys ind alligevel.

Alm. Standard hotel med elevator.sjovt indrettet værelse,meget mørkt pga. farverne og vinduet som støder op til anden mur. Madras meget hård.der er en del larm fra rengøringspersonalet efter midnat. Der er meget lydt. Toilet og bad har samme dør som er skydedør, så den kan ikke lukke begge rum.toilet alm. uden bidet.safebox. tv med højtaler.køleskab,vandkoger.2 flasker gratis pr.dag.daglig rengøring.ingen minibar på værelset,der skal ringes efter det hvis man ville have øl eller sodavand. Disse priser er dobbelt op end hvis du køber ved family mart som ligger skråt over for hotellet.indkøbs muligheder er også tæt på.der er en del massage klinikker på vejen og pigerne vil meget gerne give dig massage. Ca. 10 min gang til stranden,hvor der passeres en handelsgade med masser af restauranter,små gadekøkkener m.m.

Optisch interessant, nicht unbedingt praktisch

Optisch sehr interessantes Hotel und Zimmer. Zimmer sehr sauber, aber leider ziemlich klein, kaum Platz für geöffneten Koffer, böse Ecken am Mobiliar, an denen man sich gerne regelmäßig stößt. Die Schiebetür vor WC und Dusche kann nur entweder für WC oder für Dusche geschlossen werden. Personal sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Umgebung recht abwechslungsreich mit Restaurants und Bars.

Parfait petit hotel!

Nous avons adoré notre séjour au Color Kata. Très propre, chambre moderne, personnel serviable et disponible. Bien situé. Hotel offre une navette pour la plage à chaque heure sinon à pied c'est 8-10 min de marche. Ca se fait bien. Je recommande cet hotel.

Mycket trevligt.

Trivdes jätte bra. Personalen var mycket hjälpsam. Blev en dubbelbokning och vi fick då bo på deras grannhotell sawadee village. En natt, Vilket var fantastiskt. Annars fina rum med allt man behövde. Snyggt designade. Ingen utsikt dock. Men helheten var super! Nära till resturanger och gratis transfer till stranden varje timme. Från 09.00 till 18.00 vilket var mycket bekvämt.

Klaustrofobiskt. Inga fönster, ser rakt ut i en vägg, helt instängd. Ball inredning.

Value for the money

This great little hotel is clean, comfortable and the service is great. It is a 10 min walk from the beach, but its easy to go there and the area has a lot of massage shops, cafees and plenty of restaurants. I would recommend this hotel, since it is great value for the price.

Even better than expected

Earlier I had only lived at a more expensive hotel in Kata, but since I was travelling alone I picked The Color Kata for this trip. And it was really great! Friendly staff, nice room in the back, very quiet. The bed was comfortable. One thing: I wish it was possible to get more light in the room, mainly because I had to work a little bit while staying there. I will definitely stay here again:-)
