A lovely hotel with good facilities. Room was well appointed with luggage space, bed was very comfortable, bathroom was spacious and everything worked perfectly. The property is well located for the city centre and the main sites as well as for local transport links and ancona's ferry terminal. Just one word of warning for guests arriving on foot with heavy or multiple pieces of luggage. There is quite a long and in places steep climb up to the hotel, so maybe consider a taxi, especially if walking from the train station first.

A key reason for choosing this hotel - after a 24-hour ferry journey - was the fact that, according to Expedia, it had a bar and restaurant, enabling us to relax without having to leave the property. Arriving on a November Sunday evening, we found the hotel rather desolate-looking and a closed bar and restaurant. Very disappointing, redeemed only by the very helpful receptionist who recommended an excellent restaurant a 10-minute walk away. Full marks to him, none to Expedia.

Horrible experience, the room was tiny and uncomfortable, couldn’t even get a power outlet. Very very noisy, hearing steps and elevator noise, just horrible

I am sorry to write something like this, but the mattress was very dirty, unfortunately we discovered that when we moved the bedsheets. I can share the pictures. The both top was old and dirty with rust. I did some pictures and I showed to the receptionist. We payed to much for what we get.

Great location, great hotel.

Overnight stay in Ancona before catching ferry to Greece. At check in the lady at reception was really sweet and very helpful. The hotel location is really ideal with great views, and the town centre and all restaurants are a short walk. Can’t fault the room: it was clean, comfortable and spacious. Parking was right at the hotel entrance. Altogether a very positive experience. Will stay here again.

Very nice hotel in a great and central location.

The view from our windows was breathtaking. This hotel is amazing: with yummy breakfast buffet, friendly staff, walkable to downtown charming plaza and little shopping in local stores. Many restaurant options - all in waling distance.

We always prepare to stay at NH if available. It is a very convenient around the Ancona and easy parking and friendly staff. Rooms are bit outdated but hey it is a lovely feeling.

Stayed here for one night during a road trip through Italy. To start with the good things about this hotel: it's very close to central Ancona, a 5-10 minute walk at most; situated on a hill with good views of the harbor; free on-site parking, a rarity in Italian cities; very friendly & helpful staff who made me feel welcome. Now the bad: this is a hotel in dire need of a remodel. My room was very out-dated and didn't feel comfortable at all. The parking lot and exterior of the building looks rundown. To be fair, reading other reviews of the hotel I saw the owner mention that a remodel was scheduled but had to be postponed, I imagine due to the pandemic. I hope NH Ancona can go through with this remodel soon, because the staff and location deserve a top-notch building.

Excellent hotel

Great location close to both city centre and train station, and a short drive to the international airport. Very quiet so if you travel for business you’ll have a good rest. There is a big parking space so a plus. NH is a great hotel group and everywhere I’ve been I’ve always enjoyed my stay

Convenient

NH Ancona is one of the NH groups hotel. It is quite convenient when you travelling pass. Max couple of nights will do. Building and rooms are but outdated .

Stay was for work, room was clean and basic

Very friendly reception staff. Spacious and very clean room. Nice view across the harbour. Getting to the hotel from the main train station by foot with wheeled luggage was hard. Italy's crumbling infrastructure made the terrain hard-going for my luggage wheels. The country's rude, aggressive and dangerous motorists made navigating such potholed and narrow paths that eventually take you up a steep incline to the hotel quite hard-going. It doesn't look far on a map but I recommend a taxi! Whilst clean, spacious and welcoming, there are cracks here and there that suggest the hotel could do with some investment. Also, although the hotel is not especially cheap, expect to be charged for everything; that packet of crisps in the room...it isn't a welcome gift! It will cost you. The minibar prices are eye-watering. A four-finger KitKat chocolate bar will set you back €3.50!! As to meals here...Hilton prices at a hotel that offers nothing like their standards!

Great location high above the port, walking distance to downtown, good restaurant.

Parking was a little limited, but the hotel were and assisted us with parking (there was a conference on when we arrived). The room was clean and quiet with a lovely view of the harbour.

Mixed feelings

Accommodation fine. Breakfast excellent. View from room over a sea of weeds and poorly kept garden. We did not know that the bar and restaurant would be closed Friday Saturday and Sunday until we checked in.

Big spacious rooms. Beware of late night concerts in the summer time just opposite in the port, carry earplugs. Everything else good especially breakfast!

The hotel is old and not so clean at all (floor in the room where the kids slept...smell of an old and un washed carpet in the other room where we slept .... Generous service. The stuff is very pleasent. The location is good.

I think the bed was pretty good, and I like the breakfast it was so good. The problem that I had was the bathroom, and I think they need to change it. Also when someone ask you about a restaurant to eat don’t tell them that it has cheap restaurant over there like I couldn’t afford it.

Great room with a pretty view

Great place with wonderful view of the harbor. Near the ferry port and walkable from train station. Nice facility with friendly helpful staff. Near shopping area with lots of restaurants. Included breakfast was very good. One thing to note- the facility is on a hill with a steep driveway. It was a chore to lug our bags up into the hotel ( we were walking, this would not be a problem if you arrive by car). Worth it, though.

You get wha you pay for

The hotel is close to the port which was convenient for me.The room is rather small but OK for one person, staff is nice.

Chained hotel with standard service

It's located outside of the town, so it is quiet and with a good sea view. But it is difficult and exhausting if you walked from the ferry port with heavy and big luggage as you needed to climb a slope to reach the hotel. The room is a little bit old and there are stains on the wall. But overall, it's acceptable and they provide a wonderful breakfast in the morning.

Stop over

Staying over night to catch the ferry to igoumanitsa. The only thing is there disabled room is like all other Italian disabled rooms it's not up to standard no hand rails slippier floor and no proper shower seat. And the room would not fit a wheel chair..

Very good hotel with wonderful views

The hotel staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you, from giving advice about where to go and how to get there, to printing off train and bus timetables. The rooms were very comfortable. There was a wide choice for breakfast with something for everyone. Very reasonably priced.

Short stay in Ancona

I visited Ancona for its sport fishery - sight casting for juvenile Bluefin Tuna - using a local skipper, Diego Bedetti. It's my second such trip. Although Ancona's a busy ferry port it is steeped in history with beautiful public buildings, spaces and sculptures. And of course situated in the La Marche region famed for its wine and seafoods.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The charming receptionist was very helpful and most friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. We particularly loved the gorgeous breakfast. There was a lot of choice and everything looked and tasted delicious. Many thanks again!

do not stay here unless you have a car. there is a steep 350 meter climb. hotel is faded, elevators are from the 1950s, and place has seen much too much wear. breakfast is the hotels only asset, other than its accommodating staff. as a port city, ancona is not known for its accommodations

Great hotel with excellent service

We were in transit and decided to stay in Ancona for a night. The price was reasonable, considering it included breakfast. What a pleasant surprise we had at this hotel! Firstly, we got a very warm and friendly welcome - I admit it was off-season (early January, although I suspect they rely on business guests at this time of year), but the checkin process was most efficient and helpful. The room was excellent; the beds were firm and the temperature of the room was warm and cosy. Soundproofing was very good, as was the blackout (steel shutters on the windows). There was an excellent breakfast served from 7 to 10am on a weekday. As well as the expected Italian sweet things, it also Included a cooked breakfast with everything available on a buffet basis. The breads were delicious, as were the croissants. Other impressive touches included home-made yoghurt and jams, and there was a selection of cereals and a range of milk. We walked from the main station which was just under a mile and fairly straightforward to find. The hotel is situated between the city centre and the station, with the former being about a ten minute walk. There is free car parking available although we didn’t use this facility. This was our first time at the NH hotel chain and we were extremely impressed. By co-incidence we stayed at another NH hotel the following night and were equally impressed (again, another superb breakfast with an early option before 7am).

SPEND A NIGHT IN ANCONA

Regardless of the fact, that the hotel has seen better days (how long since the last renovation?) it still was a comfortable place to stay and great value for money. Excellent, friendly front desk, a room with harbor view and a buffet - breakfast to remember!! All this a short walk distance of the charming old town.

Convenient Location

We were staying at the hotel as tourists, but it would appear that the majority of its clients were businessmen or staff on conferences. As tourists we found the facilities perfectly adequate, the staff professional and friendly and the free WiFi a bonus. (Access to the Internet is an integral part of modern living and, unfortunately, some hotels levy unnecessarily high charges for WiFi.)

Excellent stopover for Greek ferry

We chose to stay at Ancona simply to take ferry to Greece, but we were pleasantly surprised to find so much of historical interest. We wished we could have stayed longer at the NH Hotel Ancona, the staff were most welcoming and helpful.

Lovely old hotel good views of harbour

Great Experience

It was a great experience, the NH location is great, the staff is friendly and was willing to help you all the time. The continental breakfast is excellent. It is a great value for the price. It is not fancy but is comfortable and clean.

Lovely stay in Ancona

Lovely hotel with beautiful view. Staff very friendly. Breakfast very nice with plenty of selection. Within walking distance of Ancona town, where there are plenty of shops, restaurants etc. Only downside is the hotel is on quite a steep hill - thus the beautiful view! Might be a problem for people with limited mobility, but if a car is available, or if walking not an issue, couldn't fault the hotel.

Short Stay

Quite often the bedrooms do not reflect the opulence of the reception area. However, NH Ancona does not disappoint. The rooms are spacious and the beds extremely comfortable. A good breakfast is available and service is excellent. Ideal for a business trip but a little out of the way for a vacation. Having a vehicle is a must although parking is sometimes problematic as the car park is by no means spacious. Overall, an excellent hotel with attentive and courteous staff.

Nice, quiet location

Stayed here for 4 days at the end of May while we visited the Commonwealth War Cemetery and explored the city. The room was comfortable, the staff very kind and helpful and the restaurant provided a very nice complimentary breakfast. Dinner in the restaurant was very nice as well. We are already talking about visiting Ancona again. Whenever that may be, you can be sure that we will look to this delightful hotel as our accommodation for our stay.

Below average

I specifically asked for a non smoking room but my room stank of cogarettes and had an ashtray in it. Although the hotel is in a wonderful location there is no view as my room was on floor -1. Breakfast was nice. It took a long time to check out as no staff at the reception desk for 10 minutes.

High on hill, high on value

Situated 5 minutes away by taxi, the old Jolly Hotel is just a five minute walk from the centre of Ancona. Perched high on a hill overlooking the port of Ancona and the Adriatic Hotel, the NH is a great place to stay either on business or for a short break. Wi-Fi and breakfast was included in the rate. Staff spoke good English and were accommodating.

Silence and courtesy - Avoid taxis!

The hotel is up on a little hill just in front of Ancona's port. There is no traffic around the Hotel, so that I enjoyed a very silent rest.... :). Breakfast is good as well. The hotel is not brand new but the conditions are ok and mattresses are good. I certainly recommend for a short business stay. Taxi from the hotel to the train station was outrageous 14€ for approximately a mile ride !!!! Have a walk!

Not that impressed

On plus side this is a good location and there is not much to choose from in ancona. I was disappointed that being single always seems to result in being put in the broom cupboard at the back of the hotel wight he smallest oldest mattress available for the same price as dragging someone along to share with you. The air conditioning controls were switched off and the room was extremely warm. The room felt dark dirty and uncomfortable. I am only glad that I decided to stay closer to the airport on my last night in Italy I was pleased to get out. I was also disappointed that although the hotel was almost empty I still ended up in a really bad room.

Overall a good place to stay in Ancona

Very attentive staff, small, but clean room, excellent breakfast, in a location overlooking the harbor and within a 5 minute walk to the city center. The only blemish on an otherwise pleasant stay was the fact that rates went up 30% on Monday, so check in advance if you think you might extend your stay.

Great staff and food, with standard facilities

The staff of the hotel was very helpful, and the dinner in the hotel restaurant was delicious - not too much choice but excellent fresh fish options. I did not stay longer in Ancona to compare with local restaurants. The room I stayed in was small. There was internet but slow connection. I would not say the rooms were spectacular, what I liked was the service of the staff and the restaurant.

To be avoided.

Choose this hotel specifically as it advertised a bar and restaurant. Both were closed, without warning, on the night that I stayed there (Saturday). Reception staff did not seem surprised that they were closed - got the impression that they were often closed. Couldn't even purchase a bottle of water - except from the minibar. Bedroom was very small - even for a single. Had to leave my luggage blocking the door so that I could actually move around. Breakfast was ok - coffee from the machine should be avoided. The overall experience was poor. If all NH Hotels are like this I think I will avoid the group in the future.

Hotel ormai molto vecchio, non si può catalogare tra i quattro stelle, stanze minuscole. Ho preso una singola e non c’è nemmeno lo spazio per appoggiare la valigia. Condizionatore molto rumoroso. Personale gentile e qualificato. Ristorante con prezzi molto alti.

Tutto molto positivo. L'hotel è in posizione centrale con vista sul porto. Camere silenziose, confortevoli e spaziose. Letti comodi. Bagno con prodotti per l'igiene abbondanti e di buona qualità. Personale gentilissimo e competente.

Le stanze necessitano di una decisa svecchiata però sono indubbiamente pulite e il letto (questo direi nuovo) è davvero confortevole. Io ho soggiornato in questa struttura per imbarcarmi l'indomani: da questo punto di vista ha una posizione comodissima anzi imbattibile: è praticamente nel porto. Habitación muy fria, sin calefacción ni climatización aunque les pedí que lo arreglarán, me deje unos souvenirs gastronómicos en la nevera (€€€) el dia del check out 8:00 y a las 14:00 volví a buscar la maleta y pregunté por lo que me había dejado y ya no había nada. Cerraduras con llave metálica en un hotel que dice tener 4 estrellas. El personal de la recepción y del desayuno muy profesionales.

Very nice and helpful staff! We were even surprised with a bottle of Prosecco and fresh fruit, as well as breakfast free of charge (I suspect it has something to do with it being our honeymoon), and we really appreciated it.

ad Ancona per lavoro

NH di Ancona è un hotel che tengo sempre in considerazione quando mi reco in città per lavoro. Mi trovo bene, sono tutti molto cordiali, ed anche il ristorante mi soddisfa.Il parcheggio davanti all'hotel è comodo, buona la colazione, letto comodo.

Ottima posizione a pochi passi dalla Mole Vanvitelliana e dal porto, e comodo per visitare tutto il centro storico. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo, camere comode, staff gentilissimo: NH è sempre una garanzia per trascorrere un piacevole soggiorno!

Hotel confortev

Bad experience with our dog

Not so dog friendly as it’s displayed on Hotels.com ! You have to know that your dog is NOT welcome at the restaurant! What a shame … am I supposed to let the dog in the room ? No way ! I’ll NEVER come to this hotel. Even if it’s free. By the way hotel room need some renovation work. I’m traveling for business and go frequently from Italy to Greece. It was my 1st time at Ancona and least time in this hotel.
