The staff is great and very friendly.
Great hotel
Great room with lovely views. Comfortable! Great pool area!
Great place!
The pool is outstanding! The beach is beautiful with a very long stretch for early morning and sunset walks. The staff is kind, accommodating, professional and friendly. The hotel is very clean which is important to me. The breakfast were very good. The waiters (including at the pool) were very attentive. I met many people that have been coming to this resort for 10+ years. Many of them stay longer than a month! I felt extremely safe.
What I don’t like is how slippery the pool deck is I almost fell multiple times. I wish there was some way of fixing that. I am scared to death to walk on it when it’s wet.
…
On the weekend the resort opens up to day users pool gets loaded up with lots of kids and chairs get very crowded The buffet caters to the 80 percent local guests Staff was wonderful Not much English spoken but they try hard
Great location. Places a little tired and worn down. Beds are OK. Only a sheet no coverlet. Ants in the room, but they do spray when you ask. If you don’t really care about the room, then great value. If you want a little nicer Room, not the place for you. Food very average to below. Great weight staff and kind people at checking in.
Staff was so attentive and helpful (despite our lack of local language skills). Our room was clean and comfortable. The view from our room was incredible! The manager was accommodating when we asked for a late check out due to a late flight on our check out day. All in all, should we visit Ixtapa again, we would like to stay here!!!
Great place to stay
Fun and engaging
We have been going there for years, hotel staff are excellent.
Other then the restaurants you have to reserve dinner for the food isn’t good nor the drinks
It was an unforgettable experience but for the wrong reasons. They cancelled our booking one week prior to our stay and then offered only two days, which we took at a premium because we traveled with a big group. The facilities are old with poor maintenance. The bathrooms are leaking, power outlets not working, the TV doesn’t work properly and the rooms are very dirty. The food options are really bad. The staff isn’t quite friendly with rare exceptions. We had a room at the 11th floor and it always took a really long time to get a chance to ride on the elevator.
I buy room for too bed the gay change only for one bed is no good service
Room service was extremely slow, water went off while showering, staff were not welcoming. Pools were overcrowded, overall not worth the money spent.
There was cockroaches in our room and aside from that there was also ants and NO AC in our room. Also other costumers entered our room while we were still staying there( with a different key they were given from the front desk).
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!
To start off they did not have my reservation and no rooms were available. It was unbelievably hot & humidity was at 89. We were not offered any water as they tried to resolve the issue. Front desk service felt like I was at the DMV. After showing them proof of my reservation 45 minutes later they game me a room. There are 3 elevators for the entire hotel 1 was not working and they are small with a weight limit. There were so many people staying there and a long line as only 4 people fit in the elevator. Walking up stairs was not an option as we were on the 9th floor. Needless to say we ALWAYS took it to go down 9 flights otherwise we'd be waiting over 15 minutes to go down. The all-inclusive drinks were a joke. I am a light weight when it comes to drinking, I had 3 at the pool at not even buzz. To get a pool towel was like buying a car! They literally have a book were again at sloth speed write down your name, room number and once you hand them a pool key card they write done a serial number on this old faded unraveled edge towel that felt like sandpaper. The buffet was mediocre. They take reservations for 3 of their restaurants at 9am everyday so if you have earlier plans forget about it! The corner sheet became undone on our bed and the mattress was unbelievably disgusting! The shower would stop. On last night I got a note that the AC would be getting maintenance from 8am to 9pm! Remember the weather was humid and hot! I about lost my mind. This was thee worst hotel ever!
The worst hotel i have ever stayed at. Worse staff at check in. I would never recommend Krystal hotel to anyone. Ever!!!!
Nothing
Not the best experience overall. Very poor choices for food. There were only three elevators for the entire hotel which two of them were only working most of the time allowing only 5 people at a time. While showering the water kept shutting off. The AC was not fully working at some point it seemed as it was turned off. I tend to travel 3/4 times a year. Definitely not a place I would visit again.

The Hotel is aging and needs some updates. the staff is attentive and helpful. the food is on par. Not great, but not bad either. The pool is way too crowded. drinks felt weak and watered down. views were great.
First time staying here. I got a room in the 11th Fl. They only have 3 elevators 1 was out of service. The elevators doesn’t have A/C so you feel suffocated and they take long. The pool is warm and dirty with all the kids in it. They don’t have an ice machine or a refrigerator in the room the food is not great. The worse part is that I didn’t have water the next morning! I wouldn’t stay here again.
Beautiful
I liked the option to add breakfast buffet as part of our stay, made our mornings run smooth. In addition, our kids really enjoyed the water slide and having a lifeguard on for the entire time was a plus for peace of mind... hotel is beautiful but pool is a bit small as it was vacation time and hotel fully booked...
Good location
Catering more to the local population; poor English language skills. Food services had gone down hill since the last time I was there.
I paid for 1 night in Expedia but the hotel also charged me for the same night. No wash cloth, frayed towels, but biggest problem was no hot water. I talk to the front desk twice. Water was probably 75 degrees. I understand I am in Mexico but very few employees could speak English. Stayed 7 days prior at annother hotel and almost all employees could speak English. Had to extend my stay by 3 days but changed with in hours to 2 extra days. Had fantastic massage but I would never stay at this resort again too many other nice hotels in the area. This was our third year staying in Ixtapa.
No refrigerator in room No hot water until last day.
Beware of “all inclusive”
Travelers be wary. We got the all inclusive option, but it’s not what it seems. They will nickel and dime you at every turn, even if you’ve bought in to their all inclusive option. We needed some extra water and they charged us for more water bottles that you bring up to your room. At dinner we were watching the SuperBowl in one of the restaurants. The food was free but canned beer was not included. Another example of this was when we checking out. We were missing an electronic key for pool towels, and they wanted to charge is $37US for this missing plastic key. (600 pesos). Thankfully, ended up finding the missing key in my mom’s purse. The food was okay to good tasting. Service in the restaurants was good. Works were stay here again? Probably not. They didn’t seem to care about new travelers becoming loyal customers. Many workers do not speak fluent English. If you only speak English then you may have a difficult time having a conversation with some staff.
Is not fully all inclusive you have to pay for water and other essentials.
We reserved a superior room and ended up getting a standard. They say that they provide down comforters but all it is a thin sheet. There was not any toiletries provided as it states. We arrived at 2 pm and pre checked in. The front desk said to come back at 4 which we did and we're told there was no rooms available yet. So we had to continue to wait. I believe that if you have a reservation and you know someone is checking in that's already been paid for you should have that room available that they requested. I have stayed at many hotels some I would like to go back to but this hotel I will not return to or recommend to friends or family.
We have stayed multiple times in Ixtapa / Zihua in the past and are both bilingual and have family in the area. Pros: Staff, cleanliness, pool, view, location Cons: Food, drinks, guests blocking chairs early and none available, the rooms lack basic necessities ie blankets, blow dryer, iron. Other: the hotel does offer day passes which can cause the pool to be way too crowded on weekends. Drink selection was terrible if you like a certain beer and there was no wine. The staff did however go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Special shout out to Marco and Javier at pool and Josefina at the breakfast buffet
Need more umbrellas and new outdoor chairs around the pool. Need more wash cloths! New curtains with updated colors in the Jr suites. Need someone at the counter to speak better English
The location was excellent to the center of Ixtapa and the beach. The resort was noisy at night and we had difficulty sleeping. The breakfast was good. I think we are not resort people and probably should not be staying at an all inclusive tesort.
The only conveniences provided were soap, shampoo and conditioner. There was no coffee pot, no chairs on the balcony and the room was bare. There was a bed, one chair, one night stand and a TV on a dresser. The floor was 12 x12" white tile and the room felt empty. For $500/night, one expects a few more comforts.
What I did not like. No hair dryer in the room. No refrigerator in the room. Had to ask several days to leave a coffee packet in the room. The patio door in Rm 314 needs help. Very hard to open and close. The chest of drawers needs help. The drawers do not work properly. No chairs on the patio. Curtain and drapes have tears. Liked. The best water pressure in sink and shower and the water was hot. Plenty of chairs around the pool and on the beach. Great exercise room. Nice view from the room. Short walk to shops in Ixtapa. It would have been nice if more of the signs and notices would have been translated into English.
Good they was so nice
Staff here is very nice and healthful. The guests here are very nice too. We had no hot water to shower with the entire stay. However, the water in the sink was boiling hot. AC went out once. Water shut off for a few hours. The pool at this hotel is beyond gross. They do not clean it. Sand is at the bottom. Paper floats in the pool. Leaves. Trash debris. I swear I had the dry heaves the last day here. The pool I think has no filters or system to clean it. And the pool guys are not cleaning this pool each day, it is not up to American/Canadian standards for sure.
This was advertised as a 3 star hotel ALL INCLUSIVE. IT WAS A FILTHY NASTY PLACE. We had to stay 1 night there. No wash cloths, thread bare towels, filthy floors & counters, & not any inclusive, and much more. We checked out the next morning and they would not reimburse us for the nights not spent. I ask the manager the night before to make up for the disaster but he ignored me. Checking out the next morning he offered all I ask for the night before. It was to late! We did not travel to Ixtapa to stay in a dump. Expidia was no help at all and we will never use them again. Avoid the Krystal Ixtapa at all cost. And do not trust expidia for anything.
Beaches are beautiful but it could be unsafe, it’s open sea, there is no shallow waters there. The hotel is older themed, open and you feel the outside temperatures throughout the entire hotel. The waiters were extremely helpful, housekeeping kept things nice, clean everyday. We choose an all inclusive experience, that includes 3 “high end gourmet experiences” the Bogart, Paseo de Mexico, & an Italian tour. Lastly, two an all you can eat buffets, unlimited drinks, alcohol beverages. However, all restaurant locations seems to share the same food options, same types of deserts, same flavors, with the exception of Bogart all are overall good. But with a 5 day stay, we were tired of the same tastes. Before booking for all inclusive I recommend you ask if there is a dress code! We didn’t know better! Turns out you must dress casual formal. We spent extra money buying formal shoes. And I had to speak with different hotel member to excuse my special needs son dress code; we were being turned away from reserving at the gourmet restaurants. Oh yea’ you must reserve every morning before 11am your gourmet dinner experience for that same day. We had a bad reaction after eating at Bogart, my child and I got so sick to our stomachs with cramps, diarrea on the 2 day of our stay. Concierge gave us two Starbucks vouchers to use in the hotel for inconvenience. When we attempted to use them, we were limited on our selection to only coffee, teas over ice. No Fraps, no blended drinks.
We always feel at home when there cuz everyone always remembers us and ready to serve in all areas. for us it's like segunda casa.
It was a nice stay , especially when we got upgraded to the president’s room for no extra charge , it was the best room in the entire hotel
Really clean, and nice staff
Hotel staff service was not good.
Staff was horrible
We had the Vista King with an incredible balcony View. We love the rock formations in the ocean
C
The music at night came into our room from the area by the elevators.
Very disappointed with dining at the resort. Nothing was open and what was was terrible! Great that dining was available close. The property was nice and well maintained but could use a little restoration. Elevators need to be updated. Very nice swimming area; Well kept and staff was great! But the food could really improve!!
Bugs in the room. Food was very ordinary. wonderful view.
We’ve stayed here many years. We had lots of small ants in the room. Very few outlets to plug things in. Had to call the front desk for an extension cord for husbands Cpap machine. The food at the pool area isn’t the best. Josephina the server around the pool was exceptional. All in all was a great value and will stay there again.
perfect evrything
I didn't like the fact that kids were in the adult pool and splashing water in everyones drinks. Hotel needs to be maintained.
I really liked the service of the staff, they were always very nice and also the service in the restaurants.
We enjoyed the pool area and it's staff, especially Josephina, who was very attentive. We did NOT however, appreciate the music in the lobby that played until 11:00pm and the karaoke until 1:00am. We were also disappointed by the elevators that kept breaking down.
Mejorar la atención del cliente
Falta empatía
Las comidas puro cochinero
The staff were amazing and the energy and feel of the resort was so great. People were happy and having fun. So many kids and families, great to see. The property itself is tired and the food is average. But the great people make up for it.
Enjoy our stay at Krystal. Loved the location. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. A special thanks to the Manager Natalia who Extended our check out time. The AC wasn’t properly working for the first couple of nights causing some discomfort. We were moved to another room with much better AC after the attempt to repair the AC failed. This hotel is old but it kept clean and the staff is very kind and nice.
We have been staying at the Krystal for over 20 years. We absolutely love the staff! They have become our second family. We look forward to seeing them every year. The staff go out of their way to help you and make you feel welcome.
some rooms have insect problems
I reserved 3 rooms. 2 of the rooms were good, however the 3rd room had a broken latch to the patio and a broken bathroom latch. the room was also infested with ants. I was unaware of the ant problem until after we left because i had not personally used that room. The ants got into our luggage and personal items. Overall a good stay not counting the one room.
Overall I loved this hotel everyone was so friendly and helpful I would definitely back
very friendly waiters and cleaning staff, staff in "reservation" restaurants and administration terrible I don't think I will return
It's an old hotel and needs some updating. Our oceanside view and friendly staff made up for all of the flaws..
Staff was very nice and worked hard to please. Room was missing some necessities like ice bucket, glasses fridge.
I booked for 5 days , the adults pool is always full of kids, elevator got stuck 2 time with people inside, the buffet don't have enough options, if you trying to make a reservation for the other restaurants, they always said they're booked for the day but they're always empty, the AC in my room didn't work and they took 3 days to give me a different room. And of course Expedia never help , they only sale ticket but never do anything to help a customer when needed
Really bad experience, check in Monday, ac is bad ,i reported ,they send some one , didn't fixed but he suggested to get a different room , i ask for it , they said they will call me back, but that never happens, i insist and 3 days later ( Thursday) they give me an other room with the same problem. The adult pool is always full of kids, no signs or someone there or someone there to telll them that's an adults pool only , you trying to make a reservation to a restaurant, they always saying they're booked for the day but if you do go , they're almost empty. And of course if you trying to talk to Expedia , they never help you , all they do is sell tickets , they never never do anything to help
This property was excellent. We had a great time here. Great location with easy access to the beach. We will definitely be returning.
Unique target guests, poorly maintained facilities.
We stay there most times and enjoy the pool and access to the beach, also the staff know us and always take core of us.
Elevator didnt work we got stuck there for 20 min Buffets were not good Little bugs were everywhere in the room And when you would shower water would go off for minutes
Horrible servicio
Please do not waste your money! The food mediocre at best. The buffets were okay, but the restaurants were terrible. We got up from 2 of them and left. Bogarts is pretty good but we were rushed the entire dinner. All we heard all week was, 'no', 'you cannot do that', or 'I don't know'. We asked for ice to be delivered to our room and it took getting a manager involved before we got any. There are not nearly enough pool chairs to accommodate even half of the guests. Guests were going down to the pool at 7am to put towels on chairs but then wouldn't show up until 2 or 3pm. Both my sister and I were yelled at by an employee working by the pool, because we were moving chairs so the 3 people on our vacation together could sit together. When we expressed we were just moving a lounge chair so all 3 of us could sit together, he told us we could not, and that was not his problem. Three staff members made our vacation, Ernesto and Xavier (pool bartenders) and Jose, the life guard. They were amazing. Friendly, helpful and fun. I would not go back to this hotel. They refer to themselves as resort, they are not.
Rude and bad service i will never stsy therr ahain
The property looks old and needs some maintenance. Lots of tiny sugar ants all over my room, so your could not bring any type of food because the ants will be all over it, the door to the balcony could not be locked, some buttons in the elevator are missing. And the pool is closed at 8pm when there's plenty of day light left. Overall was not a really bad stay, but could had been better if their maintenance and care take priority. Gives the property a bad look, run down and old. Staff very friendly.
Once you book and pre pay, you are fried, just have to follow what they say, and get what they have to offer. Cleanless? founf sand in the room, and staff at the front desk unfriendly
Same food every day, and not that great Rude hostess in restaurants, Too many people , long lines No entertainments, not a good all exclusive hotel , rooms where nice, views of ocean area are great,
Hotel needs more attention. We arrived in the off season and the pool was full food not the best and room ok to moderate unless Some drastically change I would not return.
The child care service is amazing! I loved it.
Me gusto las instalaciones , pero la comida no es buena en el buffet, y sobre todo la cena ya que usa un semaforo para entrar a la hora de la cena y para grupos familiares grandes no es bueno.
Bad
terrible food
This property is true warn out!
We loved our stay at the Krystal. The staff were all amazing. The rooms were immaculate sheets changed daily. It could be a little busy at night, with music to 10pm and occasionally later. 10:30am the music started at the pool. Family resort with plenty of things to do. Water slide and kiddie pool and more. Water volleyball, water polo, A was yer aerobics / Zumba, beach volleyball; Italian restaurant on site was very good (we did not pick the all inclusive option)
Staff was amazing, very nice and helpful. Food was not that good.
Great staff, very helpful and accommodating. Nice big pools and fun little shows sometimes at night. Nice to have coffee shop in lobby area too. One elevator was always broke down though & there was a lot of people there. And the food was just ok. We didn’t eat there a lot, but there were lots of good restaurants close by. Overall good experience. We would go back.
I paid for "Todo incluido" which translates to"all inclusive", but they wanted me to pay for food, coffee, pretty much everything but the buffet. They blamed it on Expedia, but the place was overrun, no chairs, etc. They required masks to get a drink from the outdoor bar, but nobody was wearing them, except to get drinks. A total joke.
Check in is a very slow process - it took 15 minutes to provide credit card and get room keys. A lot of paperwork.
Attention to client exelent. Personal honesty.
Overall nice stay..staff friendly. Food average..room clean... took 3 days to get coffe maker in the room.. we paid for all inclusive n with no coffee available till 7am..coffee maker in room is a necessity when your up between 5-6.. also we had n ant invasion in the room... they came up n sprayed..however still ants so we brought raid n sprayed ..problem solved
The property is extremely dated and the modernization efforts were subpar
La atención y el servicio fueron excelentes unico inconveniente es que el mueble que ponen en el balcón de la anotación es de mala calidad lo digo par un incidente que me sucedio
The staff were great. Everything was clean
i liked the pool area very spacious and free and i liked out room
The location was good, although some areas of the resort need upgradding. Not happy at checking in, when I made my reservation there was a choice of a double bed room OR single king size bed(there were 7 left available). I reserved with 1 king bed but upon arrival I was told there were none available, the hotel was clearly half empty still but they did not jomor my reservation as booked.
The buffet food was cold and not much selection. Very hard to get into the restaurants. No information about resort when you checked in. Would consider it to be a 2.5 star at most. Housekeeping was very good. No fridges in rooms, you received a warm bottle of water in room. If you are a smoker do not book here. You can’t even smoke on your balcony. Overall would not stay again.

Old property in need of renovation I hated the staff that was in the lobby trying to get you to buy an activity package from them. Constant harassment Check in was incredibly painful! Very slow staff and complicated process Was on vacation and pool closes at 8! Extremely early especially since you can’t use it during the day because its out in the sun with no shaded areas My room on the 9th floor had poor water pressure and the air conditioning was not working… they never offered a solution to this problem and I had to request twice for them to send a fan Elevators are a pain! Only carries 3 people at a time or it will say it’s over weight and will not move
