It was a very nice place to stay was clean. People were amazing. The owners were just terrific. I just love them. They remembered me from the time it’s stayed before and everything was great.
I love the fact that the people are so friendly. The owner remembered me and she was kind and they were so helpful and just a lot of fun to even talk to. She remembered my last trip and where I went and she was just so friendly like having a friend every time I go see her.
Comfy Cozy
Nice and cozy, I was able to adjust the temperature, take a hot bath and shower, wrap up in a full size towel, have a cup of hot coffee and curl up and read a good book, then made so microwave pop corn and watch a movie with my husband. Nice size fridge for all my hubbies snakes. Customer service was GREAT!!
It's a nice cabin like feel. Our room was very clean and everything worked. Check-in was easy and Carrie (owner) was friendly and welcoming.
Property is older but owners are working on remodeling. They were very friendly and when there was a maintenance issue it was resolved immediately. Bed was very comfortable. One thing that would be nice to have available in the room is a place to hang a few clothes.
Was able to rest and still take in the area. Will return. Owners were very pleasant.
I like the fact that it was away from the road so you didn’t heat traffic. It felt cozy. The room was clean and had everything you needed in there. The owner was so friendly. I have another trip planned to go up there and I will be staying with them for sure great place and great people.
the bathroom was leaking but other than that everything was fine
Friendly staff! Has a nice gazebo with a fire pit and fire wood provided. I would stay here again.
It was a nice couple days
It's an older resort that is being refurbished by the new owners..The posituve changes
The motel is newly remodeled and looks great. Very nice stay and close to the bike path.
The place was perfect for my stay. The ladies in the office were very nice and welcoming! My check in was really easy. The room was very clean and nice. It looked newly renovated. For a place on the roadside it is a really nice place to stay at a great value. I'd definitely recommend it to someone and plan on staying here again when I'm up this way.
Clean, comfortable and cozy.
Cute little motel run by really nice people. It’s a great place to stay, comfortable and sweet.
Motel Nightmare
I cannot believe I paid triple digits for this room after suffering a comedy of errors. First of all, when I booked and on all my documentation, it was called the Gateway Motel, so imagine my confusion at the sudden name change to the eerie "Last Resort" when I arrived. At around 10pm, the office was closed, so I rang the doorbell, but no answer. I called the number on the door and someone (the owner?) came to let me in and expressed frustration that her computer had booked me under the following day, not the day I had arrived. Trying not to panic, I pulled out my email confirmation and she double-checked Expedia, which clearly showed I had paid for a room that night. Luckily she had a room available, so I brought my family into the room, and again, I cannot believe I was charged almost $200 for this room. The first thing we did was kill a roach on the nightstand. We shooed away flies who had flown in the bathroom window with holes in the screen and no curtain. The main room floor curtain wouldn't close properly with the window AC unit. The unit must have been in the middle of renovation, because half the bathroom was stripped out including the towel rack and the surface area of the mirror. I'm glad some reviews have had a good experience and nice pictures, but mine was just a nightmare, and I feel like I have to caution review-readers. I will say, [the owner?] did call the next day to see if my son was still feeling carsick and to apologize for making me wait for the room.
The property was very dated and not worth the money we paid. It was clean however. I would rate it a 2 1/2.
Deluxe Room- The Last Resort
Room was nice but bath tub and sink were stained. The facility also runs on well water, very strong smell, difficult to shower or wash hands because of it.
Cozy motel, 15 minutes away from Silver lake sand dunes. So perfect if you're spending a weekend at the dunes. Right outside of Hart which is a neat little town to vist. I would say this is a really nice place to stay, it was quite, felt safe, they had activities outside, bonfire at night. And the room was clean, sheets smelt clean!
The new owners seem real down to earth nice people really working hard to fix it back up and it's about 15 mins from sliver lake
The friendly service, welcoming atmosphere and mattresses were very comfortable too!
Excellent service.
This an older roadside motel that was in proximity of an event in the area we were attending. We typically stay at branded hotels as opposed to these smaller i dependent motels, but very limited choice in this remote area. The motel is old and dated on the outside, but our room was re recently refurbished with new floors, paint and beds. Believe the motel recently changed hands and the new owners were extremely pleasant and caring. Room was clean and had a small refrigerator, microwave and keureg coffee maker (with pods supplied)that came in handy. We had friends that attended the same event but chose to stay 40 miles away, while we were very close to our event in Pentwater. You can tell this motel is a work in progress, but was pleasantly surprised.
The owner was so lovely, I booked the hotel for my festival the wrong date and she was luckily able to move my reservation. New ownership and definitely a lot cleaner than it was and very welcoming! Very pleased with our stay, the only thing I would’ve liked was better curtains or draw string blinds and the air conditioner gets really hot and the long curtains are resting on it and that made me a bit nervous. They had a fridge inside too which was awesome and just an overall very pleasant stay! Definitely will be back for next years festival!
Great little place in the woods
It was better then expected. I went there for electric forest and didnt want to camp so i stayed here. They are redoing the rooms and i got a brand new room with new bathroom. Queen size bed perfect for 1 person. I wouldn't have more then 2 ppl in the room cause its small but comfortable. The oweners were really nice and accommodating.
Yes
Our check in was not exactly friendly, and they switched people in the middle of our check-in. We got to the room, and it smelled horrible, musty and like it hadn't been cleaned. The bathroom was gross and dirty with dirty towels still hanging on the shower rod. Would not recommend.
Older motel and room was nice. Had nice wood plank flooring, clean, comfortable bed, small bathroom. Shower had new shower head. Water does have an odor of sulfur that is not uncommon to this area. Bring your own bottled water for drinking. Room had nice TV, small fridge and microwave. And a coffee maker. Air conditioner worked very well. Free wifi. Park style grills available for use. You provide the charcoal.
Appreciated that it was clean and had no strong odors.
The hotel was okay for the price around the area. But not up to my standards. I would not come back.
Check in went very smoothly; staff was very courteous. This motel was clean, but appearance suggest they are in the process of updating/rehabing the property. There was an issue with the tv; my son went to office and the gentleman promptly remedied the matter--he could watch the baseball game!! I hope they are able to continue updating; great location!
closed on sundays not able to get clean towels or ice and dirty one left on floor until mon
FIX THE DRAIN ODORS!
I liked the remodeled interior of this classic old motel. That said the the horrendous smells from the bathroom drains when using the shower or sink almost ruined my stay.
The property looked run down from the outside with lots of weeds in the parking lot and a poor childrens play area in front of the motel. The room was small but clean. The TV had lots of channels I watch. The shower was small and the shower head was so low I had to bend down to get under it. Check in was quick and easy. The room was quiet which may be due to so few rooms being rented. The location was close to many outdoor activities.
NEEDS CLEANING
the room was filthy. It smelled stuffy and moldy. The carpet was DISCUSTING. The owner said he would be open on Sunday for ice between 8-11. At 9:30 the closed sign was still on the door . They didn't even open that day. Needed ice the fridge wasn't working well the first night and needed ice to keep everything cool. That didn't happen. The owner said he would refund my money if I wanted to go somewhere else. Everything was BOOKED UP. It was part of the 4th of July week. I would have if I could have found some other motel with a vacancy. But the best part of your motel was leaving.
Disappointed stay
The place was very outdated and old. The style vintage was about the 60’s. The place was very overpriced and they added a pet fee which I was totally unaware of when I made the reservation. The place was clean but the shower was in very bad condition so I never used the shower. I would never stay here again.
Clean rooms
Older motel but very clean and comfortable
The room was very cute and cozy and office staff guy was very cool and nice
Very peaceful and close to Pentwater and Silver Lake. Met some nice people who were also staying there. Definitely recommend.
( )Room was very "cozy", well done. fireplace felt really good with snow outside. Great use of space. (-) shower water never got beyond luke-warm. NOT wanted after skiing all day & in the morning to wake up.
I grew up near by (50 years ago) . The owners have made wonderful improvements in the room... Iknow that it's going room by room. Mine was great.
Very comfortable clean. Staff were very friendly
Very small and simple accomodations. Nice and clean.
I love this quaint motel along old Highway 31. It is a family-owned operation. They are friendly and helpful. Updating and remodeling are being done in the rooms. Fantastic for the price.
Carpet was wet, could not take off your shoes. The smell was atrocious, afraid to shower and sleep with the velour blankets. Could see outside through the crack at the bottom of the door. Only positive was that the manager did get up to check us in when we arrived at 11:30 pm. Almost wish we would not have.
Bathroom was clean but very outdated. Shower was clean but looked as if it wasn't due to wear and tear on the shower floor. Nice playground area for children
The property is quaintly cute and the owners are doing a great job with the rooms they've renovated. My friends were in an unrenovated room and it was clean but the carpet and room smelled of old damp. The water was sulferous and we didn't take a shower because we are diva princesses. But the place was nice, very restful, great beds, and microwave minifridge., strong wifi. Great price.
I liked that it was close to where we needed to go and we could get it for just one night,Saturday. However, the water smelled so bad and made the place stink. The bathtub was old and there was mold on the ceiling.
This is an older roadside motel that is being fixed up and is charming and comfortable. If you like the concept of the "Rosebud Motel", this might be a good fit for you.
