We wanted a convenient base for exploring Menorca and the hotel provided it. Our room was very comfortable and the sea view well worthwhile: it was surprisingly enjoyable watching the harbour traffic come and go. Breakfast was fairly good, though very busy at peak times which led to shortages of cups and cutlery. Also, some food items (e.g. bananas and nuts) only appeared occasionally. Almost all our other meals were taken elsewhere. In the evenings we ate at the very good local restaurants in the town of Es Castell and round the harbour at Cales Fonts (special mention for the excellent Sa Punta, 5 minutes’ walk away). Disadvantages mainly related to the nature of the hotel. It is much larger than the usual ones we use, and provided services like loud evening entertainment in the bar that we don’t have any use for. Although the staff were friendly and helpful, the servicing of the rooms was a little unpredictable. In summary, it wasn’t our favoured type of hotel but it did deliver what we wanted and we had a lovely holiday.
Lovely hotel with a stunning roof top sun deck and bar. Amazing views over the harbour.
Would definitely return!! Loved the staff and property
We enjoyed the hotel very much. We were upgraded to VIP with complimentary room mini bar for the day. The hotel was modern, clean, good selection of food on the buffet, great music, loved the roof top sun deck and the staff was wonderful.
Wonderful.
We have stayed here previously and would always recommend that you specifically request a balcony room, if that’s what you want. Do not assume that as “most” rooms have balconies, that’s what you will get. Our issue was sorted with good grace (and a change of room) and we immensely enjoyed our stay.
everything was very good. However the rooms are too small. Bathrooms are barely adequate. Modern but tight on space. Products are only marginal and very limited. The images on network do not show an honest image of the room. Towels for three pools should be available on all floors. NOT at reception desk. Cold food excellent. Hot food could be improved. The hotel lacks the luxury anticipated. However we will return.
Excelente, buen ambiente, agradable la atencion, buena ubicacion.
Lovely hotel right by the sea. No beach, but was perfect for a weekend away with friends.
Lovely relaxing stay
Lovely staff breakfasts good receptionists amazing fantastic room 102
Great place
Loved everything
Excellent views from superior sea view room, always something to watch on the channel to Mahon. Disappointing that there was no access to sea bathing but pools were pleasant. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast buffet was standard and the evening buffet we tried one night only as rather basic. Staff all very positive and helpful
Staff brilliant. Excellent breakfast.
Great location in lovely Es Castell.
Great location, and mostly accessible (my wife is temporarily physically challenged and uses a cane to slowly get around). Receptionist Nicole (with the Scottish accent) was superb and made our stay even better! She is a treasure! As a retired architect, I noticed items that are in need of maintenance. The baseboards in the hallways need to be replaced with correct materials that will withstand wear and tear (entirely the wrong material, currently), and corner guards should be installed. The lobby bar could be better, with a greater range of drinks and a bit more "atmosphere". Apart from these minor issues, we would recommend this hotel to everyone!
Lovely clean hotel, fabulous facilities with one of the best breakfast buffets we have experienced
Lovely stay in Es Castell
Lovely hotel in great location. Friendly staff, nice pool area. Good rooftop bar with whirlpools. Breakfast buffet was very good with lots of choice. Would recommend
Friendly and helpful team providing excellent service. Sea view room best option.
Hotel was great everything Was fantastic Only negative was having to Leave
Great views of the bay and ideal location for walking around Es Castell
The air conditioning was warm at best ..tried 2 rooms …for a new hotel totally unacceptable, In the plus side great location awesome staff amazing views.
Great looking property, in the room the shower hose leaked, a lot of the fittings were loose. The tube light did not work and the air conditioning seemed a bit hit and miss.
Hotel is in a very good location and the lobby and pool are very good. The port is nearby with very good restaurants. Did not like the set up of the bathroom with little privacy. Parking in the hotel is somewhat complicated as you have to use an off the property lot. Had a hard time plugging in my electronics since its a different system. Hotel dis not have the adapters and had to walk to the Chinese bazaar (about a 10 minute walk) to buy the adapters. Front desk and breakfast staff were always very polite and very helpful. The room was cleaned and served nicely every day.
Friendly staff. Great facilities.
Great facilities. Remodeled. Nice pool area. Friendly staff.
Fantastic
Great hotel, lovely staff, absolutely fabulous location!. Will definitely book again.
Property is exactly as described and as per the photos. Great location and views. Rooms have great air conditioning. Highly recommend.
Really, really nice hotel
Absolutely lovely hotel. Lovely suite, excellent breakfast, and a short walk to a delightful bay full of bars and restaurants. A drink on the roof is a must. We hadn't booked it - hotels.com helpfully cancelled the hotel we had booked then refused to help, meaning we had to book this hotel with no notice.
Good for solo travellers
Great location, lovely staff.
Clean, comfortable and sane stay amid Coronavirus
First trip since lockdown began due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Both hotel and staff working _very_ hard to operate in line with restrictions. I felt that everything was organised, clean - and I felt safe. However, couldn't quite give the max stars as there were some things removed due to lack of guests/restrictions (e.g. coffee in room, sky bar was closed)
Well positioned, bright, clean and well equipped. Would recommend rooms with sea view balconies.
Wonderful location with bonus of 2 pool areas (one on the roof with stunning views).Close to bay with parade of lovely bars and restaurants. Buffet excellent value (b/fast and eve).Staff very efficient and friendly.
I liked the views and the staff. Good breakfast and awesome pools
The location of this hotel was good and the roof terrace sun deck with the jacuzzis and amazing view of the harbour entrance was outstanding. We were B&B only, breakfast was good with fine selection. Rooms were very clean if not huge, we had a slight faff not getting a room with a balcony as requested (resolved next day) and very minor point that tea and coffee in the room wasn’t always replaced. Stay there again, definitely.
Lovely hotel, with room some room to improve.
Pros: -Beautiful hotel with wonderful pool and roof mini-tubs. -location fantastic. -good service although some staff didn’t seem particularly happy (understandable). -good facilities to use pre/post check-in/check-out (showers downstairs etc) Cons: -A lot of added costs to factor (eg the safe in the room costs €30 to “activate” and pool towels are charged €3 for a “refresh” after a €20 deposit per towel). This is quite strange given how much you pay for the room already! -Our room (330) smelled incredibly damp and had a foul sewer smell coming through the drains - admittedly we didn’t ask to move as we were only there for 3 nights but it wasn’t pleasant.
Excellent
Lovely modern hotel made even better by the staff. From check-in to the cleaners very friendly. Pool area slightly shaded but changes as the sun moves around not a bad thing in the heat of the summer! The blue ‘sky’ bar on the other hand is the opposite! ..It can get windy up there! Stunning views too. Out of the hotel hook a right and follow the coast round to a little harbour and there is a good selection of restaurants 5-10 mins walk. Go the other way and through the narrow streets of the village to the bus stop and less than €2 will get you into Mahon itself. Definitely worth a visit. Get a hire car to go to the beaches though... something like 200 around the island. Again well worth it. Lots of history through the eons to see. Biggest advantage for us at least is it’s adults only!
An adult only hotel with very helpful staff and relaxed atmosphere.
Great property. Clean. But it’s hard work to get the things that should be simple. During our stay (5 days) the temperature did no drop below 30C yet Water was never replenished. This is poor. Safe requires a 50€ Deposit and a daily charge. Poor. Several other things. These aren’t deal breakers, but as a laying guest these should be laid on and @just happen”
Great location for couples. Great local bars and restaurants. Stylish, very comfortable hotel.
Really relaxing ... just what we needed. Stayed here last in 1977, so it has changed quite a bit. Adult only now. Check in was easy. Stayed in Junior Suite with sea view. Not sure about the semi open bathroom but we managed. Bed was comfy with plenty pillows and the toiletries were brilliant. Buffet breakfast was ok. Coffee machine kept breaking down. Staff were friendly.
Ideal for getting away from it all.
Ideal for what we wanted - a complete break from it all. The hotel is located a short stroll from various eateries in one direction, with a short simple bus ride into Mahon in the other, Bus is a flat fare into Mahon, every 30 mins. There was a slight paperwork issue on arrival ...... they didn’t seem to be expecting us, but after an initial scary 15 minutes or so, it was all resolved.
Excelente location. Good Breakfast included. Walking distance to everything. Good entertainment at the end of the day and activities during the day. This is a plus in this hotel. Good spa service.
Sun, Spa, and Sea
This was my second visit to the hotel and it was as good as I remember. The facilities, food, staff, rooms, and spa were excellent as always. The roof top pools have awesome views. The reception desk would benefit from more staff as check out was quite slow but that could have been because it was towards the end of the season. But as always, it was perfect for a long weekend break and will visit again next year.
Nice plcase. Clean rooms and lovely roof bar. Great enetertainment each evening although full of older people. Only issue was that I could hear snoring from a neighburing room. Could have better sound insulation. Also the jaccuuzi sas a bit chilly.
Beautiful hotel, small pool but sky bar ( roof top) bar very nice, lovely walk along to Calas fonts
Amazing views
I stayed with my mum for 5 days and although we had bad weather the sea view room was great. We could see the whole harbour on the sunny days or great storms. Staff were friendly and helpful. Everywhere was clean tidy and modern. Great food and drink selection.
Excellent service and staff, close to many restaurants. 15 mins in a taxi from airport. Thanks
Nice hotel; good location, food & views
Good location, enjoyed going for walks, drinks and food around Cales Fonts. Friendly and helpful staff, especially Juan Vicente (who works in the restaurant by the sea). Good breakfast, wide variety of tasty and fresh food. Good entertainment on Saturdays at the bar by the lobby; live music. Good views and GTs at the roof top bar; be there at sunset. Clean, modern and comfortable rooms.
Nice enough hotel.
In general, we found our stay at The Barcelo Hamilton okay. Some staff memebers were friendly, while some were aloof. Thought we think that the design concept of the hotel is modern, we did not find the layout of the room to be well executed. Having the sink outside of the toilet and shower area did not seem efficient. I’m not entirely sure if we were given the non smoking area that we asked for, but I think the air vents should be checked because our bath towels smell of cigarette smoke. We are non smokers and the towels were changed everyday. We loved the sea view from our room. Especially when the morning light comes in.
Great hotel, couple of things let it down...
We stayed for 3 nights and overall really enjoyed our visit. A couple of things could be improved upon. We stayed half board and were a bit disappointed with the quality of the hot buffet food on offer at dinner. Also, with the exception of Margarita in the restaurant and the guy in charge of entertainment around the pool, the staff weren’t especially welcoming/friendly. Otherwise the hotel was very clean and modern, the pool area was perfect for us with lots of sun beds and the rooftop bar was great with views across the water. We would come back, but probably only stay B&B next time as there are plenty of local restaurants in the nearby harbour area.
Best breakfast ever at best hotel.
Everything about this hotel was exceptional. The pool areas were lovely and not busy even in the height of summer. The staff were extremely helpful. Es Castell is a gorgeous place with beautiful bars and restaurants. The breakfast in the hotel was the best we have ever had. Gorgeous fresh fruits, pastries, great coffee, cooked breakfast, the choice of everything you can imagine! And adult only - so peaceful. We will always try and go adult only in the future. I work in a school and love children, have two grown up children too, but it’s just bliss!!!
Second visit. Really good location, friendly staff, choice of pools a massive bonus.
Expected better quality and service
As a budget traveller we normally stay in hotels that are a lot cheaper. But to treat ourselves we decided to splurge a little and stay at the Barcelo Hamilton. Too be honest it was quite disappointing. It looks nice, the beds were comfortable, the rooftop was pleasant and the breakfast very good. But there were a lot of things very average considering the price you pay. The staff is very slow and not service orientated (like slower than usual in Spain where everything is slower anyway). Check-in took about 10 mins per room and if you just had a simple question you were waiting a long time if unlucky. No iron in the room (which is fine) but when we asked reception they simply said no we don't have it now. We then asked them if they could call one of the rooms that is currently using it to ask if they are done and they were almost rolling their eyes because they had to do work... The room was also quite small and if we had bigger luggage than just our carry on bags there would have been no space to walk. Towel situation at the pool was also a bit annoying as you had to pay a deposit but also if you're up on the roof you have to go get a token first and then go to the pool downstairs to get the towel. I guess it's just not what we expected from a hotel that we paid so much more from than the hotels we usually stay at that I think have much better service and are still pleasant and comfortable. Won't be staying here again and wouldn't really recommend it either.
Good Hotel, Good Location
Good hotel in great location within a few minutes walk of Es Castell harbour with many bars and restaurants. Although the hotel is quite new and very clean and comfortable, there were several disappointing aspects. On check-in we were allocated room 224 and then, without explanation switched to room 112. We later discovered that this was a much inferior room. The reception staff were not forthcoming - no welcome drink was offered and no luggage assistance was available. Everything is charged for as extra - the in-room safe, tea and coffee in room (although there is a kettle), and even pool towels. Needless to say, the bar prices are outrageous and - "for quality reasons" - bringing any food and drink from outside is expressly forbidden. Service at the pool bar was poor and grudging, and there was no waiter service. It is such a shame that a beautiful hotel was not promoted in a way that gave an overall satisfying holiday experience.
Really lovely boutique hotel
Stayed for 3 nights with friends, staff friendly, close to town & reasonable prices. Definitely recommend.
Breakfast good-reception slow
The breakfasts were the best thing about this hotel, together with the view. There were, as is to be expected in an adult only hotel, the sunbed hoggers who were there at 8.30, towels out, for the day. This was by the pool not on the roof terrace where it was more relaxed. The views were amazing which made it seem odd that the roof terrace and its bar did not stay open very late-this is the main attraction of the hotel and yet you couldn't spend evenings there when you wanted to. The hotel was very clean and the cleaning staff were lovely. Check-in was a slow experience due to only one staff member being present. If they prohibit sunbed saving and open the roof terrace and bar each night it will be a lovely experience all round.
Great mini break
Lovely hotel and location for our October mini break
Lovely hotel and outstanding views
We stayed at this hotel for a few days in October and it was lovely, just as advertised. Modern, stylish, clean and friendly helpful staff. We used the spa and gym every day. The rooftop sunbeds and jaccuzi pool were brilliant with views over the town and the sea. The drink and food was very reasonably priced and the buffet restaurant was good quality. But there are also a few small restaurants just minutes walk away. Would absolutely visit again.
Anywhere else is a risk
This being at least our third return back to back, we know what to expect from Barcelo Hotel Hamilton. After a busy year, we are so glad to return to this quiet corner of Menorca with its superb views over the water of the inlet, the fort and little islands. We love the setting with the picturesque little bay of Cales Fonts and its few restaurants and tiny bars round the corner, the modern design and soft subdued lighting of the interior, soft ambient incidental music, the comfort of the air-conditioned rooms (we went Deluxe this time!) and even the public sunning areas - with service. Everything is well thought out. Front house staff are very pleasant. The place is set up for relax and recuperation and serves our needs perfectly.
Great Location
Definitely worth getting a room with a sea view as the hotel is situated in an amazing location with fantastic views. The roof top terrace makes the most of these views and is a great place to sit and relax.
Nice location to walk in to Es castell
We booked a sea view room and were put in room 101 which is in a corner overlooking lobby and the side of other rooms we complained and were moved to 104 which was more central but still the balcony is overlooking the ceiling of the lobby which is noisy at night because they have bar entertainment. Having said this I'd rather be over the lobby than the otherwise which is the car park and breakfast room. You need to book next room category up to get off this floor but be careful with suites because everyone on the balcony can see straight into your room! Service in breakfast room is awful you don't even get shown to your table or offered a cup of tea it does feel like a canteen sorry I'm not one to leave bad reviews but I was genuinely disappointed for the price
Hotel on water edge
Beautiful hotel on waterfront. Amazing views from bar on roof terrace and close proximity to water edge friendly restaurants serving tapas and fresh fish.
Disappointed on arrival there were no cups in our room although we had kettle tea bags etc took 3 attempts and one hour to get some same again next day. On our last day we had no milk so requested some from reception told it would be brought to us, ten minutes later had a phone call to inform us that expedia guests were not entitled to this facility. Also would have expected to be served tea/coffee even at a buffet breakfast . Had buffet dinner on first night even though we were b&b, very mediocre and Luke warm food on cold plates. I choose this hotel because I had previously stayed in a "Barcelo of the same rating, booked through expedia but there was no comparison as I felt we were treated as second class clientele.
Quiet adults only hotel
Stayed here for a short break, hotel was immaculate, staff very helpful & excellent choice of food for breakfast. Would highly recommend to anyone
Good, but..
Stayed at other Barcelo hotel in Lanzarote which was better than this one, however the overall experience is very good just really dislike being charged for tea and coffee even though an above standard room was booked. Even the Travelodge gives you that.
Well located modern hotel
The Hamilton is well placed in the small town of Es Castell just 10 minutes bus ride from Mahon and within easy walking distance along the promenade of a host of harbour side restaurants, pizza parlours and bars. A smart modern hotel with fine sea views out over the entrance to Mahon harbour with a regular flow of pleasure and fishing boats and the occasional large cruise ship passing by. The rooms are adequate and reasonably equiped but on the small side with limited storage space. Extras that one might regard as standard fare are charged for, such as room safes 5 Euros per day with a Euro 30 deposit and towels which attract a Euro 10 deposit each. After the first day tea bags, coffee sachets, sugar and milk in the room are charged at Euro 4 per day. Bottled water is also chargeable. Breakfasts again are adequate with reasonable choice of hot and cold dishes but the food is of average quality. Dinners are expensive and better to eat out locally. Again the swimming pools are adequate but small and not pool facilities are not luxurious. Staff friendliness could be improved with a few smiles and convivialities. On checking out a mere "OK" was all I received on my departure after 5 days from the receptionist. The location saves this establishment but this large hotel group could do more to improve facilities and ambience.
Great location
Checked in late , no problem, nice room , great location to walk to local bars & resturants , handy to city of Mahon , parking a struggle if don't pay for hotel hotel space !
Style over substance
weekend spent at hotel . Deposit for pool towels seemed petty. No clear explanation of hotel facilities at checking.
Half way there
We asked for a twin room and it was a double - rather than putting us in another room, we had to wait for the cleaner to come and redo the beds for us. The room was really small considering what we we paying and just wast what was shown in the pictures. You also have to pay a deposit of 20euros per beach towel, they don't have them just stacked up by the pools and when we asked for our deposit back, we were questioned about why we didnt have a receipt from paying the deposit ) which was clearly a protocol stuff up internally. The rooftop bar/pools and the breakfast were what saved it for us - both really lovely. Overall, its overpriced, customer service could have been much better and we wouldn't stay again.
first class location
5 min walk o good selection of good bars/restaurants in Es Castell. Top floor bar is a must in the evenings watching the boats return and the sun go down. Drinks prices as expected for 4* but not excessive. Excellent breakfast choice. Shame that safe is not free to hire( they should add to basic cost and no one would know?). 10 min walk to bus stop for bus to Mahon (€1.65 ea way per person). Car hire 5 mins away. Small supermarket 10 mins. Hotel pool ok but generally in shade most of the day. Pool service available but slow. No local beach to walk to. Topfloor bar provides ample sun if required! . Es Castelll is unspoilt small harbour and this hotel is perfect for couples looking for quiet week.
Terrible service
It was a shame that such a lovely hotel is completely let down by the service. We found our check in experience to involve a long wait and then rude staff. To use the "free" wifi you have to agree to sign up to your details being passed on! We didn't come across a single friendly member of staff. O and they were unable to fix our broken toilet even though we told them about it on our first night! Disappointing.
Amazing customer Service
This was our 1st "kid free" holiday and we couldn't be happier, it was also my partners 30th birthday and the hotel staff helped me arrange a birthday suprise, it was so special that I asked my partner to marry me (with the help of the staff). She said yes! We were both very happy with all aspects of the hotel. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Excellent weekend break
A very short stay. Hotel was an excellent choice. The roof top bar is worth the visit alone. Decor modern and clean. Staff very helpful. Breakfast good. As with most modern hotels the bathroom is pretty much in the room - a challenge when travelling with a friend. Room a little bit on small side. Brilliant location. Well worth s wander to harbour for great choice of bars and restaurants. The hotel air conditioning is centrally controlled. I would have preferred cooler but it a minor point.
Great roof but not worth money
Hotel has a good location but staff and value is disappointing. Anything additional is extra, slow service, and loud for being adults only. I am stilling working on obtaining a refund for one night thru booking with Expedia- a hassle with front desk entire trip!
A hotel in financial trouble??
Beuatiful hotel, BUT it is not maintained very well - electrical sockets with protruding live wires, - none of the hot tubs on the roof work, except one; - no shade/parasols on the roof, - the sound system throught the hotel is faulty - keeps stuttering and despite telling staff, they did nothing and played the same 4 mp3 files / CDs over and over again; Guests are left with an uneasy feeling that the hotel is in trouble - they charge for absolutely everything, deposits for towels, then €3 per day to have them renewed, charge for safe, no replenishment of tea and coffee in rooms after the first time using them - then you are charged, no stock in the minibar without pre-paying for filling the whole thing, regardless of whether you want all the products, no water in the gym (its locked in the spa - really dangerous if someone fainted in the gym). All the staff are very very young therefore cheap, but unfortunately this means they are inexperienced and lack customer service skills, and yet it is obvious no-one has invested in any training for them. Reception are very badly behaved - laughing and and riduculing guests who moan, and they are very indiscreet about it. There are a few good staff, and 1 amazing member of staff - Rita - who does all the entrtainment, fitness, DJ-ing and inadvertantly, provides a friendly point of contact for disgruntled guests. She should be snapped up by a much better hotel - she is wasted here.
Grown up chill out vibe
Excellent modern rooms and fabulous roof top sun bathing area and bar. Internal pool area gets sun and shade and is very pleasant. Great breakfast. Close to harbour with little restaurants and bars.
Somewhere to stay not far from the airport
Used the hotel for bed and breakfast, so got the essentials, a bed and a shower. Had a superior room, but it did not have a balcony, which seemed a bit odd.
Great hotel ideal for those looking for a quiet break. Two good pool areas, great views on rooftop and well located with bars/restaurants just a walk along the pier. Not your usual tacky tourist area either, slightly mor upmarket. Room was cleaned every day and breakfast more than sufficient
pricey but pretty good
great breakfast - great rooftop bar with stunning view - quiet pool area but little in way of air movement - great location - great variety of local tapas bars - so easy access to Mahon for only €1.65 by bus - but annoying Muzak plays everywhere apart from your room.
Great hotel. One small issue.
Fantastic hotel with fantastic views. Very clean. Friendly staff. Excellent food and service. The only problem we encountered is that they do not turn the air conditioning on until it is above 26C outside. We had a thermostat control in our room but the air conditioning was not turned on in the hotel to allow us to have a/c in our room to our liking. That made it hot and humid, especially for sleeping. So therefore, it wasn't as comfortable as we would have liked.
Very clean, modern hotel with beautiful views.
Very pleased with the facilities of the hotel, especially the roof terrace with the Jacuzzis overlooking the bay! However, disappointed with the charge to use the room safe and the fact that it took the hotel 2 days to fix our air conditioning in the room. We also expected the tea/coffee making facilities to be replenished daily but were told they're only complimentary on the first day. Other than that, a lovely hotel and would definitely return for another holiday break.
Service excellence
One of the most enjoyable hotel stays ever. We often stay at nice hotels on vacation and this was the best of the best for us. Everything you need for a special stay was available and the service was outstanding.
nice modern hotel with a great location. a true 4*
we stayed for a week. nice modern hotel. nie size room. we had the bnb option. all good superb location, very peaceful area. the only thing that cheesed me off, was i really chose this hotel for its location. its right on the edge and some massive ships pass. and when we walked in. no balcony and sea view was limited. i thought, no please. it was the reason i booked it. so i went to reception bla bla. thing is i never complain about stuff. anyway, she said she could move us in two days. two days passed and we were a fair distance away when hotel called. we can move you now, but you must come now mush mush. anyway it was impossible to get there fast and besides were on holiday. so i said dont worry well stay where we are. they did try at least. i would stay again. which i never do, as we like trying different places. but id want that sea view (without twisting me neck) and a balcony) 8/10 nice hotel
Smart hotel on sea front (not beach)
Bed and breakfast stay in perfectly positioned hotel. Extremely good choice of food and drink at breakfast. Dining staff very friendly and efficient. Beautiful bays; great views from public areas and sea facing rooms. Ours was a superior double with sea view (no balcony!!). NOTES: Balconies are small, if you get one. From conversations, 'all- inc' guests were unhappy about restrictions. Photos of pools are misleading and roof top bar frequently closed.
Lovely hotel close to harbour
Great holiday hotel is located well with bars and restaurants close by.
Boutique style hotel in a sleepy town just a short transfer from the airport.
Lovely hotel
The hotel was lovely situated in a quiet location away from it all made the experience brilliant. The only thing that let us down was Thomas Cook airlines, think we're stick to monach. The flight out from bhx was awful and the return wasn't much better either.
Excellent position on the Mao bay
We had a problem with our booking which was not the fault of the hotel. They were excellent and provided really good customer service. Everyone was friendly and did all they could to make the holiday a true break.
Great stay. The staff were excellent and the rooms comfortable. It's a new hotel. The gym had everything I needed....cardiovascular/weights. Would do it again.
Noisy rooms, you can hear TV's, toilets flushing
This could be a great hotel. However, we felt it was very noisy. You can hear everything going on in the rooms next to you. T.V.'s blaring at all hours. Staff in the dining areas were great, reception staff could do with smiling. Great selection of breakfast food - we did not dine there. The roof top bar has 6 hot tubs however only 3 of them can be described as "hot" the other three were freezing. We never saw anyone using the 3 which were cold. Seemed a waste of time. We complained twice about the temperature but nothing was done.
Fabulous hotel with lovely harbour views
Had a fabulous stay at this hotel. Lovely harbour views. very close to some lovely restaurants and bars.
Very pleasant hotel situated conveniently
Helpful staff and comfortable spaces in bar and other areas. Staff always ready to help with guidance to buses and walks etc.
Disappointing
Upgraded to superior room with sea view only to find we had no balcony. No change of room possible unless we upgraded and paid €700 for the week. Photos are misleading. Balconies shown on all. Facilities not as great as they look. Sun loungers on roof next to air con units. Inner courtyard just like being in my back garden. Everything from towels, minibar and safe require deposits and more money. We went b&b but others on all inclusive were not happy. Food average and roof bar wasn't included in their deals. Ok for short break but not for longer holiday. That being said Es Castell is a lovely location and would certainly recommend
Beautiful location
We love this hotels location, good bars and restaurants in walking distance amazing views, easy access to other parts of the island, nice rooms with good sea view, always clean. Good selection of TVs channels available. Staff have always been friendly and helpful, the roof top bar is great. Stayed with breakfast included which was always lovely with a great selection. we will definetly return for a third time.
Not So Superior
Room was smaller than expected for one with the title of superior. Be prepared for the additional charges.....tourist tax, room safe and pool towels. Recommend to avoid checking in at 2pm as very busy as this is when people who have arrived on early flights return to get their rooms.
Great location, comfortable sized rooms and very friendly staff. We also loved the little port just a short walk away for dinners.
Great hotel and an excellent area to unwind.
If you are looking for pubs, clubs and beaches this is not the place for you! It is in a relaxing, idyllic area with great restaurants and small shops to browse at your leisure. With a taxi or a boat taxi costing 10 euros, it's not expensive to get into Mahon. Boat trips to the surrounding islands are essential for history buffs.
Fantastic location
The hotel was spotlessly clean ,staff very friendly and the view from our room 307 was great.
Lovely hotel but.....
I think the hotel should concentrate on little things like...replenishing tea and coffee making facilities, bottle of welcoming water in your room. Sadly all these things you have to pay for and when you pay sometimes over £1000 you just feel these should be free. You can get room service with a package of water, sweets and 2 bottles of beer for 30 euro but this is far too much. Staff are welcoming although we were told they would contact on our mobile when our room was ready, this was never done and we asked for 2 cups as we had 1 teabag on our arrival, this was never followed through. I expected a better service. Breakfast was a fantastic array of all kinds of foods which were brilliant. They just need to smarten up on some things. I have stayed in a Barcelo in UK and they are very good.
Nice Hotel but just loves an charging for extras.
Go every year and every year get wound up with 5 euros for the safe and charging for towels on the lounge bar.
Room layout leaves room for improvement - privacy
Although size of bed impressive - little room to move about and sink to wardrobe challenging an issue if two sharing
