Great location for walking Philly. Easy check in. Basic essentials in the kitchen.
Neglectful company
Check records. Complete neglect
Solid 4 due to issues beyond owners control
The room was exactly like the pictures. It was clean and well maintained. The building itself made the stay a 4 instead of a 5. Walls were very thin so we could hear the TV from the apartments on both sides clearly and the loft feature meant it was tough to heat resulting in the room being on the cooler side. I am not upset I stayed there. Location was ideal for what we were looking for and having a kitchen was wonderful.
Great location , right across the street from Independence Hall
Perfect spot!! Close enough to walk to everything and quiet. Super clean! Amazing response time to questions. Loved it!
WiFi issues . Slow, lagging connection rate .
I wish they had mentioned about the number of bathrooms in the description. We were 6 people with just one bathroom in the apartment.
2 floor loft layout was spacious, and beautiful Good desk space with a view to work off of Very clean, modern interior - terrible water pressure in the shower - can't close the heat vent by the bed in the loft, super hot always regardless of the thermostat temperature - doors to each individual hotel don't have soft close springs, so if you have rude guests near you that slam the door each time they go in/out you hear it clear as day
Loved it
Everything about it was amazing
Great view
Nice and clean place. The only issue was the street can be s bit noisy, earplugs provided by the place.
Sosuite: the sogreat and the soso
Great hotel. Great location. Did not like thsy by default they do not makeup the room. You have to pay for this. Beautiful building, however, and it was in walking distance of a CVS with a wawa right down stairs. Not to mention old city.
Excellent place to stay — only a block away from the Liberty Bell — and great options for dining.
The bed could of been better but besides that, great stay
We enjoyed the proximity to the historic sites and the good public transportation. There was some considerable road noise. Double-glazed windows would have helped.
Great. Could walk to all the historic sites.
The Ledger was everything I hoped it would be. Comfortable, quiet, clean. I paid extra for a view of the park behind Independence Hall and it was well worth it. The location is great, close to all kinds of great restaurants, bars, historical sites, and more. I enjoyed my stay tremendously!
We love it for the fact that it’s just across the Independence Hall and walking distance to the Liberty Bell.
Awesome!
Beautiful property with an excellent location across from Independence Hall. Loved the room and the architecture of the building. I will be staying here again on future visits.
This property was very nice and very clean. It is right next to Independence hall, the liberty bell and multiple historic destinations. Lots and lots of bars and restaurants nearby with a Wawa convenience store connected to the hotel. 10/10!
Very exceptional
Our family stay for one night was absolutely great! The gentleman at the front desk was so helpful especially when we couldnt get the tv to work he came to our room and got it all right for us! Also the same gentleman (i forget his name unfortunately) he made sure he returned my boyfriends wallet that was found outside that had fallen out of his pocket! Our room was very cozy clean and great! We will definitely be staying again on our next family trip!!
Amazing stay more upscale then your typical Hotel stay
Rude and Decrepit; "8.4" is so misleading
The last 5 reviews before this one are two 2s, two 4s and a 6. We arrived at 2:30. Brusquely told "Check in is at 4:00." Fair enough, that is the promise, but most front desks would check to see if the room was ready, and if so, let you in. At 4:00 we returned. Did we fill out the online form? No, we hadn't seen an online form. Can you send it to me? No, Hotels.com has to send it to you. Maybe 10 minutes later, Hotels.com's email arrives with form attached. I fill it out and submit it. "It's the wrong form." It's the only form you sent. "You must be doing something wrong. Give me your phone." Five minutes of staff tapping at my phone, no progress. Get help from more knowledgeable associate who had been napping in the background. Long story short, at 4:40 more knowledgeable associate finally gets the correct form sent. I fill it out, and at 4:45 we are permitted to check in. We get to our room, surprised that bed was up a treacherous spiral stair. OK, should have seen that in the photo, but still undesirable. Housekeeping? Text this number with any requests. Just one fresh bath towel, day 3? "We don't provide that. You can wash them yourselves in-room." (There is no machine). Go to the laundry on your floor; use Tide Pods from room." (No Tide Pods in room; laundry was disgustingly filthy). Sofa-bed was so broken down that there was no comfortable place on it to sit. (See photo). Also no comfortable chair.
The check in was very long.
Not great to stay in
Found used shaving razors in draw. Disgusting.
Poor management
Staff is impossible to work with and have no compassion at all.
A shame because it's a nice room
If you want an actual hotel experience, this is not for you. You have to do everything yourself online to check in. There is a "concierge" who will had you a key once you've shown id. Everything is by text. I was locked out of my room and it took 30 minuted to get someone to open my room. Dehumanizing.
Not what we hoped for
The hotel and room were great. The room was poorly cleaned. The floors were dirty and the silverware needed to be rewashed. The unit was spacious and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable. The one bathroom on the first floor when the bedrooms were on the second floor was very inconvenient but it was clean and very roomy. I must note that our three and four years old loved the children’s room on the first floor. They happily played in it for over a hour! The part in our stay that was disappointing was the service given by the gentleman at the front desk our morning of our departure. He was rude and disrespectful. At our departure, we had a problem when we went to collect our car. It took much convincing that they had the missing key and we did not. It went so far as them physically checking my husband’s pants pockets, searching our rooms and basically telling us we were wrong. Finally hey checked a security tape that showed my husband giving them the key at the time he claimed and they were wrong. It took a very long time to finally get our key which it turned out they did have. After our treatment, I’m not sure I can recommend this hotel/rental to anyone.
Can be noisy, otherwise great
The only lost star was because the walls were so thin, we could hear our neighbors and people outside clearly. Everything else was great and we enjoyed the stay.
Great short term stay!
Love the building and the apartment!
Ms E & I enjoyed the room. I really like the loft concept. I dislike the couch. Needs replacing.
convenient location great price
This was the most convenient location for attending a local business event. Exactly as expected. the only thing that threw me off was the online check in proceedure, which was just not working for me and it really added a lot of stress. I finally called and the person at the desk told me not to worry about it and just stop by. Also the thermostat could not be changed and opted to just turn it off.
Wonderful. So close to museums and other features we wanted to see.
Very please with my stay. Will definitely be returning.
Great location in the center of downtown, very convenient. Art deco building , and spacious unique loft room style. A wonderful stay. Recommend! Thanks
Unprofessional Staff
Front desk personnel —when found —have no training, experience, desire or aptitude in the hospitality industry. They do not know how to interact with guests. One employee was sleeping in a lobby club chair prior to his shift.
It was a great place loved the community area
Awesome space, and price, just really thin walls...
This cozy little apartment was perfect for our quick couple weekend getaway! Will definitely book again! Its walking distance from many sites and restaurants.
great location
This property will take your damage deposit without any documentation of damage occurring. Please do not stay here.
Good are, a bit dustyunder furniture inside the apt.
I stayed in the loft and it was weird like the stairs. I felt like I was going to die going down and it’s like loud. You can hear it all the other rooms around you and it’s weird not having a bathroom next to your bedroom as far as being a girl and getting ready And it’s pretty creepy when you look at the ceiling it’s like what the hell is that?
Great place to stay even with a few quirks
The location and building are wonderful. The concierge is very helpful and nice. There are a few paint scrapes and cracks on the walls. A bit confused why my keycard stopped working everyday and had to have them reactivate it.
water pipe sounded loud sometimes.
Everything was great!
Be very careful The beds are terrible The rest of the apartment is fine The neighbors are very noisy, in my case shouting, screaming , banging all night long. Called the desk twice, which did not stop them. I asked to move to a different room. Didn’t happen. There seems to be a certain type of guest here. I think looking for a restful night sleep here would be hard to find
great location! Had to fill in some information before check-in. But room was nice with kitchenette, washer, etc.
The property was spacious. There was too much noise coming from other rooms. The worst thing: Never park with the valet service they offer. No one was there when we needed our car. Wasted our $35. Should have arranged parking on our own.
It was great to have a clean 2bedroom apt with a kitchen as a home base for touring Philly. The view out the window was independence square and though the bell rings on the hour - it was not intrusive and added to the magic of our historical tour.
Loved the loft and high ceilings. Furnishings were comfortable and stylish. Great space and perfect place to crash after a day exploring. Really impressed!
It was fantastic being right downtown near so many cool historic things!
I liked how clean the hotel was and how it was close to all the shops and even my appointment. I love the valet parking and how fast they got the car for us. The rec room was pretty neat to sit and relax in and play some pool. I also loved how saws was literally on the corner of the hotel. I am going to be staying at this hotel anymore when we are in Philly. Oh and my fur baby definitely approves as well. He loves the window to look out at and the nice big comfy bed.
Overall we enjoyed the one night we spent here. Clean property and very accessible. The following are reasons why gave a 4 star: 1. The TV did not have a remote and the one brought to us after 30 minutes did not work so we couldnt watch our favorite family shows. 2. The bedrooms in the loft were quite nice but got a little too hot for comfort even with the AC set to 69. Perhaps a cheap table-fan to aid in circulation would have helped. it was hard to sleep until early morning when things cooled down.
Always clean and comfortable! The building gives me the feeling of actually living there among the other apartments which are long term rentals.
The building is very old so be prepared for slow elevators and cold common spaces. The unit is basically outfitted and the walls are very thin. You can hear everything from any neighboring unit. The sounds of the bus, homeless and drunks permeate the windows. The unit was spotless and comfortable for what we paid. If you want plush this is not the place to stay. The attendant was cold or missing at times. Security is also another issue as there are always people loitering about and the access to the elevator is wide open. I only needed my keycard once to access the building. We booked for a weekend and only stayed one night due to the noise. Sounded like the people in the unit next to us were in the construction business and we could hear their tv and conversation all night.
Stayed here while visiting Philly in the summer with my two teens and absolutely loved calling this loft home for that time!!! It was so cute, comfy, cozy, and eclectic! The minimalist vibe of the place inspired us to embrace the simplicities of Life! This loft space had everything we needed while away from home. If we are ever back in town, we will definitely book to stay here again!!!
Loved the history of the property and the location. Water pressure could have been better. Would absolutely recommend/return!
Down Town Philly stay
Exceptionally loud location. Rattly windows did nothing to stop the excessive street noise that included the homeless just outside the building. The neighbours TV ran constantly, the sound passing through the very thin walls. Would not recommend!
Great stay!!
Fantastic spot! Beautiful room. Exactly what we wanted. Concierge was great, location, very pleased.
Loved proximity to historic sites
It is centrally located on the Historic Philly!!
My stay was amazing 10/10 I will defiantly book again if I’m in Philly
The bed was broken and they charged me $43 for a broken tiny black vase. I like the place but c’mon man. Get it together.
Very nice, modern suites. If any complaint, it would simply be no electrical outlet available on the night stand for cell phone.
My loft unit had a very comfy king bed, much better lighting than a hotel room, very spacious, good temp control, full w/d, kitchen, fridge. Modern shower and sink.
This is not a place to recommend. It is noisy, hard to access and register. The circular stairs in the units and bathrooms are unsafe. The beds are uncomfortable. The ceilings upstairs are so low, it is not possible stand up. I would never stay here again.
Awesome Hotel
I loved our stay at the lofts for many reasons.. the location across from Independence Hall and many of the historic sites was awesome. Our room was very spacious and clean. I read all the reviews beforehand about the thin walls and they are right. That is a downside of the stay. It was very loud next door and you could hear everything. Sounded like a lot of people and like they were having a party. Thankfully their stay was just one night and the rest of our stay was quiet. I would definitely stay again. With all that being said, the checking in was a huge nightmare. The worst I’ve ever had at a hotel. The machine was having trouble and could not take our card for incidentals. That took 30 minutes. Also apparently we had failed to see a note on the bottom of our email confirmation to complete our registration by sending a photo and copy of your drivers license. So after 30 more minutes and having to call Main headquarters we got it straightened out and completed. The person who was checking us in was no help at all. And If the form was so important… a message, text, or phone would have been nice as a reminder that the forms need to be completed. I’ve NEVER had to go through that process before prior to a stay. Finally after getting it done with someone on the phone we could relax and the rest of our stay was great. My advice is read all the way down on your confirmation email and complete your paperwork. Hopefully you won’t have the same experience.
Hotel near liberty bell
GREAT LOCATION! ROOMS OK. Bed must have some plastic under sheets. No cleaning service i guess unless requested. When i did ask, the reaponses were quick and efficient. Well done
Really great spot
A/C could not be adjusted and no one was able to help. Mattress was in rough shape and sunk in the middle. Area was noisy, but noise machine provided was nice to have. Location was perfect for touring the old city and historic landmarks. If you’re tall, be careful as ceiling height in loft area was low.
Great second stay. For sure, the Ledger is our hotel in Philly. One little flaw this time, though: the structure of the sofa in 213 seems to be collapsing makojg the sofa uncomfortable to sitnon. But this one hiccup is small compared to everything the Ledger does right.
Great location!!! Easy to get everywhere on foot. Wear comfy shoes. The parking was difficult with the truck. Parking garages everywhere, but full and expensive and a lot DIDNT accommodate trucks. The one bedroom suite was clean and comfy with a nice modern style.
No parking onsite

The apartment was very clean. It is a building with full time residents. There is no “front desk”, but there is a person at the front door who was very helpful. Also, the valet parking was very convenient and you can go in and out. We were in a corner apartment, a one of the nights it was a bit loud. They provided ear plugs for the noise. It is a city.
