It was a wonderful surprise. The staff was super attentive and helpful. I upgraded my room when we arrived to a king size bed. Very comfortable. Bathroom was modern and clean. It’s a lively, out of the way hotel. I’d definitely recommend it.

This property is exceptional. The room was clean and very comfortable. The Staff is where this hotel excels. They are knowledgable, friendly, and SO accommodating. The location is great for a quick bus ride to many attractions and downtown Edinburgh.

Wonderfully serene...a bit out of the way

This was by far the best room we stayed in during our entire Scotland trip! It's a bit far and difficult to access Edinburgh if you don't have a car, we went to a car park half way there, and ubered into town. (I don't like driving in downtown Edinburgh, the pedestrians are crazy!) The restaurant is best for breakfast. It was calm and quiet. But the stairs! No elevator, so beware!

Beautiful inside and out with friendly service and lovely, well-appointed, comfortable rooms.

Overall, it was a fine experience to stay over in the Craige. Thank you all.

The flash

Flashing light on ceiling is awful, bring an eye mask. Why don’t they just put a room service menu in the room? Hotel smells strongly of glade plug ins, gave me a headache. Bath looked a bit mouldy. Room service food not nice.

Nice but needs some improvements

We enjoyed our 2 night break here. The room was small but good. Bed was quite small but comfortable. Heating was good and the room heated up quickly. One negative was that we could hear room 16 using their toilet and running taps. Not good thing to be woken upto in the middle of the night. Bathroom had some mould and a woodlouse. The view from room 15 is local residential area bins.... not fab but thankfully it was not noisy. Food was great, especially the breakfast. Friendly staff. Dinner menu somewhat basic and not much choice but the fish and chips were tasty.

Another amazing find.

The Craigie was our second hotel on our trip to Scotland. An amazing small hotel, only 16 rooms. Our room was plenty big enough for us and very well decorated, and the beds very comfortable. The bathroom was was clean and had a good bath and shower. The food was something else. Very high quality and the full Scottish breakfast was enough to last me all day. The fact that locals come to wine and dine there, I think also speaks for the quality. Staff were all polite and friendly. Would we go back, yes we would.

Friendly staff, comfortable room

Loved it! Beautiful refurbished old building, wonderful dining and bar, and not far from Edinburgh. Would recommend to anyone!

Lovely Place to Stay

Amazing hotel ... great location in easy reach of Edinburgh Town Centre, super friendly staff, lovely room and the breakfast was to die for. We will be back.

This hotel is only 30 minutes in to the centre of Edinburgh, so really well placed and not so expensive, the food was amazing and the rooms very clean. I would stay here again and again.

Excellent

Found hotels in the centre of Edinburgh very expensive so travelled 10 miles or so out to stay here. Pleased I did. Lovely hotel with clean, modern and stylish rooms with lots of nice touches (took a photo of the bathroom so I can copy it if we ever redecorate!). Service very good throughout my stay. Really good food - my breakfast was excellent and included in the room rate! I've made note to definitely stay here again when I'm next in the area.

I found the quaint beauty of the old-world charms and the wonderful lay out of this amazing hotel, accompanied with the excellent service, was worth the reasonable price.

We loved this property. We were greeted and felt welcomed as soon we arrived. Great breakfast options on the morning. The service we received in both the restaurant and hotel was five star. Would recommend to anyone traveling in that area.

Noise and I'll health

My partner's mother went into the end stage of life and he had to stay with her so could not join me I had to cut short my three nights and only stayed two and the first night was spoiled by a very loud wedding party until midnight and the second night there was a massive event with music in the grounds so I could not use the balcony the music was so loud I could not even watch the TV as I couldn't hear it, this went on until 22.30 hrs.

Exceptionnaly polite and welcoming staff. Unusual to get that. All had good humour too which is so important. Breakfasts to die for / and if I ate their haggis and black pudding every day maybe I would from over indulgence.

Property was beautiful! Staff were amazing and very attentive. The only complaint was that our room was over the bar area and so you could hear the music late and theough the night.

Little gem by the Pentland Hills

Little hotel that far surpassed expectations- Comfortable and with exceptional staff. Efficient and helpful with every request. Good parking on site. Breakfast faultless and evening food & drink very reasonable and to a good standard.

Very clean, good shower and hot water, loved the shower gel and shampoo. Adjustable heating, good reading light and very comfortable bed. Good food at dinner and breakfast. Enjoyed reading about the history of The Craigie and the bar is housed in one of the old, attractive rooms. The only problem for us was the loud pop music which is not to our taste. We are classical musicians and would prefer something that suites most tastes such as jazz or film music or silence. Otherwise excellent.

First Scottish holiday

A group of us stayed here for my sisters wedding and I cannot begin to explain just how amazing this place was from start to finish. The staff were absolutely outstanding and went above and beyond with every request. Jamie was such a lovely guy, no request was too big and he anlways made something work. He gave my sister the perfect wedding day that for sure will not be forgotten!! I cannot thank him enough. Even the housekeeping blew us away, our rooms were an absolute mess from the chaos of getting ready in the day of the wedding and they came in as normal to make the beds etc, but they also organised our personal things to make them look tidier too (huge help). The food was incredible and served very quickly. The friendliness that radiates off the staff and the building itself is second to none. I would most definitely recommend staying here and will definitely return at some point. Just amazing!!!

A one night business trip stay, I could not fault this hotel in any way, the staff were all very helpful and certainly very customer focused, the room was lovely and as for the food brilliant, I will certainly be back.

The best stay

This was the perfect getaway when visiting Edinburgh! A short drive away after a busy day and we were greeted by the gorgeous building. The staff were all really friendly and welcoming. The room was beautiful, very clean, the biggest bed I’ve ever seen. The shower was unreal. And the breakfast… wow. I love my breakfasts and it was PERFECT. Highly recommend the Scottish breakfast.

This is a gem of a hotel, very nice friendly and professional staff, nice cozy bar and restaurant, excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner with a good selection of wines and beer, overall I would rate this hotel as 5 star

Favourite hotel we stayed in Scotland!

We just completed a trip in Scotland and this was by far our favourite hotel that we stayed in! All of the services and amenities were perfect and we enjoyed the area it was in. It was just a short drive into a Edinburgh. The beds were comfortable, the restaurant/bar downstairs was fun to be at in the evenings and we enjoyed breakfast in the morning. We also really enjoyed having a coffee maker in the room which we quickly realized at other hotels is not common.

Booked this hotel as my regular hotel was too expensive (and had gone downhill) and this one had good reviews - I can see why! What a lovely place in a quiet location. It was all really nicely decorated, and the food was excellent. The only minor complaint - no cereal option for breakfast (apart from granola and Greek yogurt).

We had dinner and an overnight stay at The Craigie as we were guests at a wedding there. Dinner was excellent, the bedroom very comfortable and the shower was great. The wedding party was well catered for by excellent bar staff, and good attention to detail. One suggestion though is to please label the buffet food - people like to know what they are eating.

Staff on Reception & Bar Staff really professional, happy and attentive. A couple of issues in the bathroom-glass panel above shower was loose - this got fixed during our stay. Bed excellent, Staff Great, Hotel Lovely Period Property, Great Value! Improve Food :- Please less frozen products (fresh scampi not frozen) Chips frozen takes a little more time but freshly cut better. On our second day we had an early checkout. I recommend the Grab Bag breakfast which we were given should be improved. The pastries were stale. It was nice to have Juice & Fruit. The staff were fantastic, best nights sleep in a long time, bed comfortable & great amenities in room. Thank you See you again soon

Lovely hotel, would stay here again if in the area

We loved our stay here , clean ,friendly staff , food nice , beds comfy Only improvement would be to get a gluten free menu printed ,no one wants to sit down for dinner and have to go through a file to find out what they can eat…very outdated now

The Craigie was a wonderful stay. Perfect place to go from to enjoy Edinburgh. Had questions about parking/driving etc to Edinburgh and emailed with the staff and they were very helpful. Bus stops very close. Dinner there was excellent and the breakfast was delicious. Again, all the staff was helpful and wanted your stay to be delightful.

A delight

Overall, I thought the place was delightful. We were arriving later than planned due to flight delays, and I messaged the Craigie through the hotels app and received a very quick response. They assured me there would be no problems. They were right. They were waiting, and extremely courteous and cordial. The room was delightful. Clean and very much in style with the amazing history of the hotel. Very high recommendations.

The Hotel was beautifully maintained. The staff were very friendly, courteous, and full of information on where/what to visit in Scotland. As if you had known each other for ages (LOL). The food was outstanding (Breakfast / Dinner). Overall OUTSTANDING place to stay. Definitely a return visit.

A great find, good base for exploring the borders.

From the moment we arrived the staff were very friendly and attentive. Room was bright and clean, comfortable bed and lovely sized shower. The food was second to none, good selection fro dinner and breakfast was good quality produce. If we had a comment it would be stair carpets could be maintained.

Perfect stay, no problems, staff could not do enough for you to have a enjoyable stay

Staff very helpful with a room change even though the back wing was not fully ready for customers. Due to bad leg, needed room with shower rather than the bath that was available in the original room we booked.

Great Stay

Absolutely fabulous!

Absolutely fabulous hotel. Had 3 night stay which was wonderful. Superior king room with balcony. Bed was huge but still had loads of room space. Plenty of cupboards and wardrobe space. Bathroom was equally huge and one of the best I've seen in the UK. Breakfast and other meals were amazing. All staff were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble. I can't recommend this hotel enough. Thank you all for a wonderful stay. Didn't really want to leave to be honest.

Additional Charge

We had a nice stay at the Cragie hotel it was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and attentive however, we were attending a soul do that had an early start on the same day (1.00), our rooms were ready upon arrival tho we and the rest of our party were charded £10 per hr for an early check in as the normal check-in was 3pm - very disappointed as the room were not the cheapest.

Had a lovely overnight stay food was excellent cocktails were amazing breakfast was excellent especially the french toast staff were very helpful overall a great overnight stay

Beautiful, cosy but modern vibe hotel

Well presented hotel, our stay was brilliant and only wish we could have stayed longer. Staff very professional but friendly and a last minute late check out was arranged with no hesitation. Beautiful, Lovely and exceptionally clean room. Would definitely stay again, recommend or even consider The hotel for a function.. just beautiful!

A place with character and history

The place has a lot of character and history. The rooms are big and cosy. The service is great and the restaurant has very good quality food and a lot of options gluten-free. The only thing is that the rooms are a bit noisy which is understandable due to the old building.

Fabulous stay to celebrate our anniversary. Room was beautiful and spotless. Everything we needed on hand. Decor in our room and around the charming hotel was lovely and full of history. Evening meal in the restaurant was fantastic and good value. Staff polite friendly and gave us great advice about local walks. We will be back
