The staff aren't the friendliest. I noticed that in the dorm bed when someone left, the staff didn't always change the sheets.

Safe but lacking common area and kitchen.

Normally a Hostal has a kitchen for everyone to use! Plus a common area to sit and relax and meet others. This place no longer has a common area because it was outside and is now dug up. No kitchen was shown to me. Bed was fine but walls were thin. Stayed here to save money. It was fine and safe! Parking available. Guy at check in was very nice and helpful! Just wish is offerred more than a bed to sit and plan my day! They did have a small refrigerator in the room that serves 10 beds.

Rooms are small and dated but functional. Windows let draft in and workers start working on building early so don’t expect to sleep late. But convenient location, priced high but still in Key West it’s one of the lower rates. Enjoyed our stay here. Loved the chickens… bring a couple pieces of bread for them.

It was clean with old furniture and a somewhat remodelled, however there is a very bad smell of urine in the room that is hard to tolerate.We were informed it is because of the AC ,and some animals living in the attick.Maybe change the filter??Would not stay there again.Who knows what we were breathing in all night.Also its not safe for little kids ears as you can hear any and everything that goes on next room....

Simple yet accommodating.

You get what you pay for. This was a hostel with shared bathroom etc. It has been 50 years since I stayed in a hostel and wanted to revisit my youth. There was only a thin sheet no blanket but I still managed to get reasonable sleep. Easy walking distance to all the sites and restaurants etc. Can recommend if you are traveling on a budget.

This property is a disaster. The pictures don’t come close to what the reality is.

The room was surprisingly large. The beds were clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. We went in the middle of the week so prices were very reasonable.

I booked the hostel and yes I understand how hostels work, a bunk in a shared room with shared bathroom facilities. I’m ok with that, no frills is what I expected. The issue however was the facility was literally a very small cinderblock room unattached to any other building. The “grounds” were nonexistent. It literally looked like what I imagine ground zero of a bomb explosion looking like. Gravel piled up, no trees or grass or cute colored chairs around an outdoor seating area as the advertised picture showed. Only a couple other cinderblock buildings in various degrees of demolition. Inside was very dark, only a trickle of light from an outdoor street lamp seeping in. I tripped over luggage and shoes (I think) in the dark, cramped room. It was late and I had little choice but to just lay on the bunk until the sun came up and I could leave. I imagine the cleanliness was lacking, perhaps the reason for poor lighting. To say that I was blown away by this accommodation would be accurate, however in the most negative way imaginable. If you are looking for a war torn experience without the danger of death, (tetanus being the exception), this hostel is the clear winner. If you book this hostel expecting a clean, reasonably priced, no frills, cute colored chairs around outdoor seating area type of experience…. you will be sorely disappointed.

The property was clean and updated with a king size bed. The bathrooms were nicely updated with tile but there was no hot water. The property was well lit but outdated on the exterior. The locations was nice, just a few blocks from Duvall St.

Expedia shows beautiful pictures of a courtyard with grills. That area is no longer available. It's a complete pile of rubble and cement pieces as they prepare to put in a pool there. When I booked the property, I did not see that Expedia mentions that the property is under construction, but it is buried way down in the property write up. It is not clearly identified by Expedia at the top of the description of the place nor are the pictures changed so what you see is NOT what you will get!!! We left after one evening and demanded a refund because that isn't that right! They do not upfront communicate that the property is under instruction. BEWARE!!!

You get what you get. The room we was in was really noisy and the door to the outside disnt seem to close all the way. Felt like i was camping.

There is no one at the front desk. An access key will be sent to you by email in advance, and you can use it to open the entrance and room doors. The rooms are clean and there is a Whole Foods Sale just a 5 minute walk away.

In the pitchers the court yard was very nice. When we got their the court was all ripped up! We had no hot water yo take a show! Water was ice cold!

The staff was great. The room was clean. It was just very small for the price. It was very convenient to everything so you can walk or bike to all the stuff easily. I would recommend it, but i believe its much cheaper during the week.

Very clean, quiet and comfortable. Close to all fun things Key West. I booked the 10 bed dormitory but had the entire place to myself. The front desk staff was so polite and held my bags until I could check in. This is an amazing place for the price!

Seeing rooster anywhere, parking lot free, people are nice, close to Streets you like, clean, clean, clean, and we are happy with all.

It is an excellent location walking to the exciting places. They should have a clear guidelines for free parking place, otherwise you have a risk to get penalty for illegal parking and tow truck fee. I paid USD55 ticket and USD250 tow tuck fee.

The location was great and the room was spacious! Front desk was very kind and helpful.

My room was a king room. Just enough space for 2 people. Big bathroom with great water pressure in the shower but only a trickle from the sink. There's no pool like shown on Google. It's a couple blocks from Duval st. That's where the fun takes place. $8 ubers anywhere on duval but you could easly walk. Beach access only a 3min walk and the southern most point is about a 5min walk.

Great value

The most budget friendly stay in Key West. Great location, cute property, friendly staff. Room had fridge, microwave and coffee maker. While property is dated it offers everything one needs for a comfortable stay. Would definitely recommend.

Warm and welcoming reception! We were upgraded to a larger room. The room was so comfortable, very clean (which was nice after a dirty hotel room stay in Miami), great open area to sit outside. Will return!! Thanks for the great stay. Loved having a tv to watch the Stanley cup final. We used the outdoor kitchen to make breakfast.

The beach, the southernmost point, and Duval street are all in walking distance from this cute youth motel.

This is the cheapest place to stay in expensive Key West. It is located not far from the southern most point and has good, free parking. That said it is rather charmless, although it has a nice courtyard for picnics, relaxing, etc.

This is such a cute property with very friendly staff. The location is excellent to get to the downtown and beaches quickly.

silence and inconspicuous appearance of the facility. The city's attractions and shopping are reachable in 10 to 15 minutes on foot. The beach is only 5 minutes away! :)

After I had booked this place and we arrived I was told we would be sharing the room with 17 people. It did say shared room but it said nothing about the extreme. Beware of how this company advertises the room. For all I knew, shared room could have meant i am sharing a room, which I was, with my son, but it did definitely not mean that. Scary

Very comfortable and large bed. Laundry available. We could walk to the fort and downtown from the lodge (around a mile or so). Good less expensive option for Key West.

My wife and I stayed for two nights, our greeting was friendly, professional and extremely helpful (thank you). Was a Hilton hotel? nope, was it the same cost as a Hilton NOPE, did we sleep the same as a Hilton- yes, we did. So, overall we were really pleased with the stay, beds made, coffee, fresh soap, towels replaced each day - come on… what more do you want? Oh, nearly forgot- Key West is great fun, very much worth a visit.

A charming remodeled older motel. Nice location near the Southern Most Point. The manager, Peter, was excellent. We very much enjoyed our 2 night stay.

Thin walls can hear the people talking up all night and the AC unit is loud keeps you up also at night. beds were comfortable, shower was good but tiny.

It’s a hostel in Key West. My roommates weren’t rude or perverted. So best hostel experience I’ve had. Obviously amazing location.

Of course, everything is relative but I still cannot believe that the cost of living in Key West is so high.

Seashell is Clean and Cozy Comfort. Short walk to Southernmost point of Key West FL. With close by Trolley, Conch Train, and free Duval Loop transport to all of Island attractions.

A more affordable option for the area if you don't mind sharing space. 😇 Privates available. Female traveling alone. I felt safe. Place was basically quiet day and night. Other guests around but quiet and respectful. Staff friendly and efficient. New towel daily you dont have to rent 😀 It's not your typical youth hostel or party hostel but there are ops for socializing if you are up to it. I have stayed at hostels in Europe, Scandinavia, Caribbean and the US. I had no issues here. Ashtrays provided outdoors. There is a grill at the outdoor kitchen. Nice set up for group or roomie potluck/BBQ. Easy walk to nightlife, the popular Duval Street and nearby beach.

No blankets only sheets

I stayed in the hostel section of the property (they also have regular motel rooms). The hostel rooms were clean and well-maintained. They were a little short of storage space near the beds (a shelf by the bunk would have been nice). The hostel staff cleaned the rooms and toilet/shower daily and replaced the used towels daily. There were a couple less-than-considerate people sharing the room, but that's the chance you take in a hostel. The common areas (an outdoor covered patio and a kitchen) were pretty nice, and they were clean and well-maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. Net: If you want to stay in a hostel, this is a good one -- you could do far worse.

The room was very clean. The room furniture was lacking sofa and accent chair in the living room.

I was happy i could book this room 24 hours before i arrived. Staff was kind and accommodating. The room is basic, but very clean. The property is old and in a residental area. It has no amenities and requires a three block walk to get anything. Key West is a small island, so nothing is to far to walk. If a traveler is looking for a clean place to sleep and shower, I would recommend this property.

Only consider this if it's all you can afford

It was all we could afford in key west, but it was not a pleasant way to spend the night. The bathroom was extraordinarily clean. The air conditioner did not keep up with the temperature or the humidity. Getting bathroom time was difficult when four of the five people in our room got up at 6:00 a.m.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. At over $500/night, the room was very basic. There were three beds in the bedroom....perfect, because it was me and my two sons. MY bed, however, had the most God awful mattress I'd ever attempted to sleep on. We stayed two nights...the first night I barely slept at all, and the second night I did not get one second of sleep. I mentioned this upon checkout, and the response was along the lines of "we've never had a complaint before". I find that difficult to believe! Anyway....the locate was just a short walk from Duvall Street, very convenient. Would I stay there again?....probably not.

Great location. Walking distance to Duval street. plenty of parking in a clean neighborhood. Bike rentals on property if you don’t have a car. My 22 yr old daughter and I stayed in the Women’s only dorm. our room had two bunk beds , half bath and full bath. Each bunk had privacy curtains, mini fan, mini lamp, and outlet. Lockers available in courtyard but must bring your own lock. Laundry machines on site, kitchen area and refrigerate. Laid back, no frills but clean and comfortable. Would stay there again. Easy check-in and check out. no issues.

Basic room. Not the Ritz, but simple and quaint and in line with expectations. Towels could be nicer based on per night cost this is not a big ask.

Perfect stay

Excellent stay. We stayed in a motel room instead of the hostel. The room was very clean with a great bathroom, refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot. There was a small parking area, and ample free on street parking. The motel rooms each have their own entrance. There is no lobby, you check in at a window. Check in was very easy and smooth. There is a beautiful courtyard with a kitchen and seating for guests to share. The location was quiet and convenient. Excellent stay. We'll be back next time we stay in Ket West.
