An “old world” pension, very charming.
The building is older so all the rooms have wonderful charm and character. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful with various recommendations. The breakfast was delicious. We will definitely stay in the future.
Property was beautiful! Staff was so friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!
This was the most boutique special place I stayed throughout my Italy trip! Safe and super quaint / quiet. I loved breakfast and staff was always aware of who was in hotel / loved the old fashion rules of leaving keys at property with 24 hour desk attention!
Friendly, comfy spot
This is a nice spot with friendly owners/ staff. We enjoyed it. It's outside of the main tourist area but convenient to the water bus which takes you everywhere. There are restaurants nearby too. My only little issue is that the beds were more like cots. Otherwise, if you like small, boutique, friendly hotels, this is a lovely place.
Lovely pensione in a marvelous location.
Nice but basic
Very nice staff but breakfast quite basic and room in need of updating.
We loved the history of your accommodations, everything was clean, staff was friendly, helpful, and welcoming
Pleasant traditional small family hotel
Relatively quiet location. Very friendly staff. Room bit shabby and on small side but perfectly clean. Good views from higher floors. Typical buffet breakfast.
Very convenient location to reach St Marks Square. Public transport was easily accessible. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
I loved my stay at Pensione Seguso! This is the perfect hotel to scape from the crowd of Grand Canal, but still have the feeling that you are in Venice. The 400 years old building along with the antique furniture and beautiful chandeliers will take you in a trip to the past. The fantastic views to the canals, and perfect location make this hotel a real gem. The staff was very friendly. Maximo was super nice and helpful when we were going out, he gave us recommendations for restaurants, advice to take the gondola ride. We would definitely stay at Pensione Seguso again!
We absolutely loved our stay! Wished we could’ve stayed longer. The staff was so friendly, and the place had a wonderful view. The restaurants around were delicious and the staff friendly!
The staff shines through
By far and away the staff are Pensione Seguso’s greatest asset. Each staff member that I interacted with was helpful, friendly, and efficient. My room -with private bathroom- was very basic (no TV, fridge, or room safe) but pleasant nonetheless. The building’s location right on the water (and thus close to water taxi/ferry stations) and charming reception area do compensate for the room itself’s fairly no-frills nature.
A real nice little hotel.
What a nice place to stay in. A family run hotel. Very helpful, friendly people. Great staff. Good breakfast and a great location. I couldn't have asked for more. Thanks for a wonderful visit in Venice !
Old World Venetian Style and Hospitality.
We love this place. It has a lot of Old World charm and is run by Lawrence, whose family has owned the building for centuries. All of the staff were "molto gentile" and made our stay very pleasurable. Big shout out to "Massimo and Yvonne." Location is great: in Dorsoduro right on the Zattere overlooking the Giudecca Canal and a little side canal, Rio di San Vio. Decent Restaurants, Bars, Tavernas, Osteria, and Gelateria nearby. One Restaurant right out the door on the Zattere. Convenient to Vaporetto stops within walking distance on the Zattere and at the Academia that will get you to most places in Venice. This Pensione is very popular with regulars who know to ask for a room in the front or corner. Our room was on the side canal but still had incredible views. Tried to upgrade once we got there but they were fully booked. This is truly old world Venetian style from the flooring, antique wardrobes, sitting areas, and lighting fixtures. It was clean but could use a really deep cleaning as there are lots of little nooks and crannies everywhere. If you are looking for an American style hotel with all the amenities this is not for you. If you are looking for a truly Venetian experience in a charming Pensione, with a friendly helpful staff, comfortable surroundings, and incredible views, this is the place for you. We had a fantastic time here. A great way to finish our trip to Italia. We will definitely return here for one of those front rooms with a balcony.
Liked location and helpful staff.
The Pensione Seguso is like going back in time. You will be welcome but a very nice gentleman Massimo and he will take the time to answer to all your questions. The walk to San Marcos Plaza worth every step because you will be able to pass by different plazas, churchs, theathers, stores, etc. That probably you will never be able to see if you are stay close to the Plaza. In the morning I was surprised by excellent breasfast that was included. For sure I will come back and stay here again.
Pensioner Sergio is fantastically located for lots of short trips through Venice without the immediate surrounding circus. The Zattere traghetto stop is just around the corner and the Accamedia stop on the Grand Canal is an easy walk to catch the vaporetto or start a trip into San Marco. The neighborhood is quiet — you might hear the occasional water taxi or barge, but the neighborhood shuts down around 10pm. The decor is classic. You might feel like you’re staying in a museum. Visually it’s appealing, but the beds and chairs are not comfortable — lumpy, overly firm, and short. Don’t plan on bringing your novel writing or code work back to the hotel. The internet is fine, but your back will make you pay. The other caveat about staying here is the mosquitos, at least in May. Each day my wife and I woke up with new constellations of itchy bites. On the warmer nights, insect buzzing kept me up.
Historic and Romantic
This hotel has a lot of "old world style" with furnishings, light fixtures and a wonderful staff. Not a place to stay if you want real time modern conveniences for instance like cell phone plug ins. The breakfast was lovely. The bed was too firm for my taste. The view from the 4th floor was outstanding. A very romantic place to be
Tradition lives
This is a traditional - and clean - hotel: Keep it like that.
Beautiful old world type property. So much character and super location. Was perfect. Although no air conditioning there was a fan which was a must.
Locate very near to Water Transport, Zatttere
Locate very near to Water Transport Ferry Stop, Zattere. Only 2 minutes walk. Can walk to many places in Venice.
Great hotel in perfect location . Great restaurants , supermarket not far away and walking distance to the Centre of Venice . It was great to stay far away from crowds . My 15 years old daughter and myself had a room 34 , beautiful view . We had to share the bathroom which was opposite our room but it was no problem at all . Bathroom very clean and specious and it was always available. All staff very friendly and helpful . Our flight was late at night and we were able to relax in a room next to reception which had very comfy leather sofas . I would definitely recommend this hotel .
Excellent
This hotel was excellent Staff gave us a very warm welcome very helpful and explained everything about our location the hotel our room nothing was too much trouble. The building is a delight very clean with lots of period items . Buffet breakfast was excellent and plentifully my partner is gluten intolerant and the hotel had gluten free options available. Location was excellent only a twenty minutes walk to main attractions with delightful squares on the walk back with restaurant and bars to call and have a drink . There are three very good restaurants next to the hotel that all had gluten free option. Water bus stop just outside the hotel two minutes walk . We had a very romantic city break here will revisit and stay again.
Excellent location and friendly staff would recommend.... shower head needs attention in the en-suite bathroom resulting in water jetting at all angles other than was that a pleasant stay
Don’t miss this one! But bring some bug spray.
Excellent location! It is a very quick walk to many of the “must-see” sights. Be aware that there is zero cooling or AC in the rooms. So when you open the window for some fresh air the mosquitos will devourer you. Not a big deal if you can ignore them. On a much better note, you will not find a better view for the price. Rooms 40,41,42,43 on the fourth floor offer amazing views from large windows. The breakfast is very good and well serviced. We will stay here again!
Excellent old established pensione.
My mother in law stayed in the Pensione Seguso in the 1930s. It is still run by the same family. My wife and I wanted to see if it had survived. It has, and is still excellent. One advantage which cannot be overemphasized is that it is very near the vaporetto stop at Zattere. Water taxis in Venice are horribly expensive. A three day ticket on the vaporetto is a particularly good investment for any visitor and Zattere is one of the main stops.
Love this hotel-staff is exceptional and location hrrat,
A MUST FOR ANYONE VISITING VENICE!
First time to Venice and this hotel was perfect - stepping back in time, fitting the city itself, the atmosphere was fantastic and service was impeccable. Very homey. Right on the water, so accessibility is perfect (you don't have to drag your luggage around).
Ideal location in Venice
Excellent overall the hotel was a little tired but we really couldn’t fault it or the staff that looked after us
Wonderful hotel near to public transport and walking distance to all the sights. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Massimo went out of his way to make our stay wonderful. I would recommend this hotel as a base for exploring Venice.
Pensione Seguso was the perfect choice for a short stay in Venice. Small pensione with very friendly and helpful staff all around. OK, yes, the pillows may be thinner than average, but only downside I can think of. Great location and convenient to get around. Close to major sites whilst not being in the thick of the tourist-madness than can be. Definitely recommend.
Thumbs up great hotel
This place under rated online. I had nothing to write bad reviews on. Staff was courteous and genuinely cared to make my stay comfortable. Breakfast was what you can expect from complementary breakfast in Europe. Last day hotel kept our luggage after checkout. Located in dorsudoro. Not a busy area which was a plus. Very close to water bus station and close to guggenheim museum.
Expensive for what you get
We were surprised that at nearly $200/night we didn't have air conditioning, a refrigerator or a balcony. Something we'd had at all of our other stays on this trip. We had to leave our windows open on our last night here and I got bit several times but some bug. The windows had no screens. We thought we heard mosquitoes buzzing around our head during the night but the bites I got were very big and are still itchy 5 days later. The bathroom was extremely small but it appeared that some other rooms in the Pensione had a "community" bathroom. The staff was friendly but it seemed there was different person there frequently. We rarely saw the same person at the desk.
convenient to water bus and other iconic sights.
Had a great two night stay. Decently located for Venice adventures. 3rd day after checkout allowed us to leave luggage in hotel until ready to leave later in day. Very friendly staff. It is an old Hotel so we didn't expect the ritz. It is quinticential Venice.
Close to everything
I thoroughly enjoyed my 10 night stay. Very courtiest & helpful staff. I loved my room & was lucky enough to have 2 windows with views of the adjacent canal. Breakfast was delicious & I was served a big pot of piping hot coffee as soon as I sat down - including a jug of hot milk. I will definately stay again if I return to Venice.
Charming hotel, great location, but very tatty
This is a charming hotel, full of character. It is in a great location with wonderful views and easy access to vaporetto stops. The interior is dark, old-fashioned and full of antique furniture and curios. For those wanting something different from modern, anonymous hotels this is the one for you. Unfortunately this period charm also comes with tatty paint, dusty floors and a terrible smell of drains. The staff are friendly and helpful and breakfast is limited in its choice but perfectly fine to start off a day's sightseeing.
Quiet pensione on Dorsodouro, with no AC
I needed somewhere to stay cheaply for a week in Venice, and I liked the location of this place & the photos. My room had 2 corner windows, each looking down a different canal. which was nice. Breakfast was very simple, and they charge if you order a 2nd cappucino. But they were always friendly, and I liked that the Zattere stop for the Alilaguna airport boat is one block away, and a great gelato place is right on the corner.
GREAT place with personality! Feel like a beautiful housse... Staff really Nice and helpful. I Will go back!
Best room in the house!
We got lucky. If you can manage it, we recommend reserving Rm. 22. Its position is on the Southeast corner of the building. A window and a door open to the front (lagoon side), and another window opens to the South (canal side). The breeze was amazing with all the cross ventilation. Other rooms may not be as comfortable. Shared bathroom was not an inconvenience at all. It appeared we were the only ones on the floor! Everything was clean, breakfast was good, and the location of this hotel was most convenient.
Great!
I was eaten by mosquitoes since there wasn't air conditioning and no screens on the windows.
Nice location next to the water. Had a cool breeze coming in the windows. Great view over the water. Hotel was clean. Shared bathroom proved not to be an issue. Overall a nice stay.
Good location
Good stay after a confused start at reception. Breakfast room has character, bedroom spacious bathroom tight.
Awesome room with character. Great people
The hotel was very clean and quaint. It is a typical pensionne which means small simple rooms to Americans. The bed was comfortable, the shower roomy, and breakfast great. I will definitely stay there on my next trip tp Venice.
Location,location,location!
This hotel is situated well for getting all around Venice easily and still being in a quiet, peaceful part of the city. We could walk or jump on a vaparetto to anywhere, and we did! The breakfast is adequate, nothing great, and the one real complaint is that the pillows are the worst, hard and solid, not comfortable at all for sleeping! Nice staff and plenty of hot water!
Venice
Great
Charming hotel with a real Italian feel
This is a cute little hotel on one of the numerous canals in Venice. It has a real Italian feel with not so new furniture and small bathrooms, but that's the whole charm of it. The room and the bathroom were very clean. And the included breakfast in the charming dining room looking right on the water is absolutely amazing! I especially loved super fresh croissants! My fiancé and I felt very romantic to stay in the place like this and we would definitely come back!
I can't imagine a better stay in Venice!
As titled, I really can't imagine a better stay on the island of Venice at a more reasonable price! Central to everything, thanks to a nearby walking bridge over the grand canal...without it there would have been much more walking! A continental breakfast is included, and plenty to get you off to a good start in the morning. Shared bathrooms are very nice, and we never ran into anyone else using them. A sink/mirror in the room was nice for a quick splash in the face, after afternoon naps in two large "Venitian napping chairs" looking out windows facing the island of Lido! Would go back in a romantic heartbeat!
Shared bathrooms are always a challenge. No a/c and didn't think to ask for a mosquito repellent till the last night. It was quiet of people early and the boat movement was slow enough speed as to not disturb.
Comfortable room with a great view!
A nice little B&B right on the canal! Our room was clean and comfortable and the views were to die for! The breakfast in the morning was delicious. Our only complaint was that there was no AC. We opened the windows, but that let in hungry mosquitoes. The front desk gave us a fan to use and a plug in for the wall that was supposed to repel the bugs, so that helped. Overall, we had a great stay!
Simple yet charming
Very simple hotel but very nice staff. Great breakfast in the morning.
Perfect choice
A lovely old hotel in a great position, great breakfast. If new & modern is your thing well this hotel is not for you but I guess neither is Venice.
Traditional family run pensione in great situatio
A charming, traditional family run hotel, right on the canal, with marvelous views. You may have to share a bathroom, not a real problem, but still well worth staying.
Clean,comfortable, friendly.
Welcoming Staff, Clean room and bath nice windows overlooking canals in a good location.
Great location
We love to have our room next to the canal. It's nice that is in a quieter part of Venice.
Hotel stay 2015
It was a pleasent hotel in a nice location, however we had a shared bathroom which i would not recommend for people who like lots of privacy
AMAZING!
This hotel was one of the best hotels on our entire trip! It was SUPER cheap and the continental breakfast was amazing! It was a great stay. We had to share a bathroom with the rest of the floor but we were blessed and were the only ones on the floor.
Loved It!
My husband and I stayed there for 1 night on our honeymoon. Probably my favorite hotel in Italy honestly. It was right on the water and had a number of cafes and restaurants nearby- some expensive and some reasonable. The feel of this hotel was right up my alley- just enough of an old antique feel. Not too old that it feels gross or not safe, but just enough to feel charming and nostalgic. No electronic key cards here- old keys that you leave in a wooden shelved unit in the wall in the lobby. Our room had a window to the east and looked down upon a small waterway and walkway and you could see guidecca across the larger waterway in front of the hotel. I just loved it. Breakfast was good. Warm croissants, cereal, bread rolls with jelly and butter.
clean and close to boat stop
The stay was very nice. The hotel is right next to the canal. Boat stop to airport is nearby. A hotel with a lot of old world charming.
Wonderful Vacation
I really enjoyed our stay. The staff was amazing, friendly, and very helpful. If you have ever stayed at a house or hotel in Europe, its different. That is what so special. Anyone can stay at a Hilton or Marriot, if that's what you want, don't stay here. This is quaint, old, historic, antique, just a nice place to lay your head and enjoy what is going on outside and around the area. I would definitely stay her again and again. It was very clean and it was a nice European breakfast. Nice pastries and the best salami I have ever tasted. The shared bathrooms were a little difficult to take a shower in without washing the entire room, but I'm sure its done often and they are used to it.....Its like showering you and cleaning the bathroom at the same time.
pensione grande
The hotel is in a good location with a nice view. It is nice and quite but not far from the main attractions. It stayed in an old style venetian room. It was nice to get the sense to go back in time. The staff were friendly. I was unfortunately sick during my one night stay, the staff were very understanding and helpful. There a bit of a mosquito problem at night though, I suppose that is standard in Venice. So close the shutters before sunset.
Perfect couple destination!
My boyfriend and I visited Venice for a day and stayed at the Pensione Seguso hotel for the night. The hotel was in a great location- away from the touristy areas, right on a canal, and only about a 15 minute walk from the center of Venice. Our room had a great view of the canal, our only complaint was that we had to use a hallway shared bathroom. For the entire hall there were 3-4 bathrooms, though, and we never had a problem with them being fully occupied. The staff was very nice and helpful.. Overall, a great experience!
Good location, our room looked out over a canal. Felt it was a little overpriced for the room, but I guess everything in Venice is quite expensive though. Breakfast was good.
Small hotel (as most are in Venice),
Small hotel (as most are in Venice), with character and friendly staff. Our room had views of the canals, but you had to lean out of the window to see it. I'm sure other rooms have better views so it may just be luck of the draw. I probably wouldn't stay there again, but more so because there is so much to see as opposed to not liking the accom. I rate it 3/5
A friend suggested staying a little
A friend suggested staying a little away from St marks, and yes, this was the place, our room overlooked two canals. This was a great old well stay. Nothing could beat sitting at the cafe next door and watch the sun go down over the canal and all the boat traffic.
Lovely old pensione in excellent
Lovely old pensione in excellent location for the vaporetti on the Grand Canal and the Giudecca. Very sedate. Only moan is that the two beds I had (I changed rooms halfway through to get an en suite) were less than comfy.
I cannot say enough good things
I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. It was in an excellent area, our room was very cute, and best of all had excellent windows for great views and air circulation. Breakfast was typically light in the Italian fashion, but at least they offered something. I also noticed on my way out the final morning that they offer packed picnics which I thought could be worth looking into. At any rate, it's a nice touch to what could make a stay even more romantic!
Great Pensione, considering its
Great Pensione, considering its price!
Good location and well priced.
Good location and well priced.
Charming pensione in a quiet but
Charming pensione in a quiet but beautiful position. The period furnishings in bedroom and breakfast room were balanced by the modern bathroom. The breakfast was typical Italian continental and staff were extremely obliging. A very enjoyable stay in trying times (Icelandic volcano having caused some difficulties with transport home).
Extremely basic hotel. After staying
Extremely basic hotel. After staying in other hotels I was slightly disappointed. Then I remember that it is only two stars. Very old, but quite clean and comfortable stay. Close to the vaporetto station to the airport and to the train station. Hand location. Breakfast was pretty basic, a slice of fruit bread, a bread roll and packet toast with butter, cheese and jam. Not worth the breakfast included deal, or perhaps Venice is just really expensive?
very nice hotel for the price.
very nice hotel for the price.
Excellent experience: well located
Excellent experience: well located hotel, staff very helpful, good restaurants nearby and at 100 metres from the Zattere boatstop.
Beautiful view, great location, comfy room
This is my 7th time to Venice and this room is my favourite. I love this hotel, all the furniture is like antique, old Venetian style, you can imagine their prosperous trade history here. Very spacious room, balcony with amazing view. A 3-mins walk to the vaporetto stop without passing through a bridge (luggage friendly). I am very lucky to have a room available in the last minute on Friday night booking. Although no ensuite bathroom in my room, I have a sink there to do the skin care procedures. There are at least 2 shared bathrooms on my floor which I have never bumped into someone using them. Many rooms have their own bathroom but the bedroom size will be smaller than this one. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast room is cozy and peaceful, enjoy it a lot. I will be back!

Charming, authentic little spot. If you like modern, homogenized, soulless hotels, don't stay here. This place is for experiencing Italy and supporting Venice. A little quirky, but that's the fun part! The staff was so kind and helpful, they called 3 restaurants to get me a reservation on my first night in. Note of caution: expedia pics dont represent the ACTUAL hotel room you get. I was lucky the room I really wanted was available to change to. The breakfast was okay and there are a few rundown spots in the building but the old charm and helpful staff make up for it!! Steps from the Alilaguna Zattere stop so not far for luggage. There's even a tiny elevator. 20 min walk to the main tourist square.
