Good stay at the Pear Tree Inn! Staff were great, calling me as I was arriving late and sending across a AVT invoice quickly (as there is no one there on checkout)! There is no hairdryer in the room - I didn’t realise this until the morning and there was no one downstairs to ask!
Great stopover
My Room, was clean comfortable and welcoming. Had a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed. Food in the bar (Indian) was among the best I've had, service quick and friendly. A good stay. Just as a note the rooms are up steep stairs at the back of the pub which wouldn't be suitable for anyone with a mobility issue
Nice clean room with plenty of space.
I had a pleasant stay in a spacious and quiet room. It was clean and wi fi was very good.
Food is excellent, rooms are small, but clean. The only downside is no aircon in rooms so it was very warm. Don’t let that put you off though.
It smelled bad in the hallway areas, and the bed linen smelled like it hadn’t been washed properly. The accommodation area was quite depressing, and I wish I had stayed elsewhere.
Weekend stay
Excellent location for our day at Hatfield House. Only one drawback was that we had to enter our rooms via the fire escape which had 2 flights of metal stairs which was quite difficult in the rain carrying suitcases. Otherwise everything else was good. The staff were lovely and very professional.
Andy's Stay at The Pear Tree Inn
Highly recommend the Pear Tree Inn. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. They have combined a traditional British pub with an excellent Indian restaurant. The food is lovely. The rooms are clean and comfortable
Pleasant stay in Welwyn Garden City
I spent a night here in December, a bit before Christmas time, during a business trip. The Inn is on top of a pub but, to my surprise, it is amazingly quiet. Amazing staff, very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well equipped, and it included standard hotel amenities. The bed was comfortable and the temperature was perfect: I slept better than I have in other more famous hotels. I also discovered that the Pear Tree Inn has appeared in 2013 movie The World's end. Overall I had a great stay and I can only recommend the Pear Tree Inn.
Very basic room. Shower drain dirty and would not drain. But staff went above and beyond to help out when a member of the family died at nearby hospice.
Perfectly comfortable. Recently decorated with new furniture and furnishings. Felt a bit sorry for them that someone had clearly spilt tea/coffee over the new carpet. A bit disconcerting being taken to my room via the fire escape around the back and no reception as such so the check out process was a little odd. Overall it was fine and I’d stay again.
Clean and tidy, but awful bed for the money
When we arrived there was someone sitting in the doorway having a cigarette that we had to squeeze past which wasn't great. The room itself and the bathroom were very clean and well presented. The bed was absolutely awful though - the most uncomfortable thing ive slept on. Also think its a small double as opposed to a double. Budget hotel chains have better beds. If we had paid a budget price then I wouldnt be complaining, but at £130 for the night this was double what we felt it was worth.
Good location for Hatfield House. Clean room and friendly staff
Ok accommodation
stayed for work its fine for this, not a holiday.
Comfortable & clean
Staff were friendly and helpful, atmosphere was quaint.
Business in Hertfordshire
Peaceful, good value for money
Nice
The room was not what i expected from the pics etc. Not worth the money. No food was available in the pub downstairs. Entrance only from the back outside up a set of metal stairs
Advise AGAINST if you want a good night sleep....
My Mistake to stay here and not my usual Prem Inn. The location is in a very large estate with the expected type cast habiting the surrounding area and this Pub boasts on its web site that it is there to serve the Peartree 'Community'. Therefore this place attracts the loud inconsiderate type whom probably don’t have to worry about getting a good nights sleep for obvious reasons! Room was ok and mostly clean apart from the one hand towel which had brown stains/marks on. My room was above a smoking shelter and a outside seating area with both these areas full of what looked like mostly 18/19s ish making as much noise as they cared to do. I thought okay, this would pass by shortly after 11.00 closing? But no they carried on through until after 1.30am nobody from the Pub came to ask them to go. I did try to ring the local Police without joy as all lines were 'experiencing high volume' what a surprise. When they did finally clear off I got some sleep only to woken again by an alarm going off, for the next what seemed like half an hour. The whole point of being up in a 'Hotel' is to have rest and sleep in an acceptable manner, this was not possible in the slightest here so I would not recommend staying here whatsoever. There were no breakfast either and no kitchen working.
A didn’t like anything about this hotel, so decided to not even bother checking in and forfeited the room charge
Nice, clean room
Only fault was that they only provided one towel, which we only noticed first thing in the morning. As we were checking out early, there was no one to call to get a second towel. Otherwise, the room was nice and clean, staff were lovely and helpful.
Good location for stop over
Not the Hilton but very clean
Worth a night out
Great place stunning rooms food well priced great service
Nice place
Slow check in but lovely room, clean, decent sized TV (in a lot of places they are like postage stamps !!) clean bathroom with decent shower !! Didn't sample the pub below but there are local shops and restaurants/ takeaways a short walk away. Decent place for the money.
Perfect
Lovely big room everything perfect great food and local shops restaurants and take sways
Lovely rooms, cant fault them. Great pub too. 10/10 value for money.
Decent stay but very noisy
Good points. Very reasonable price for a short notice booking. Location near local shops and close to train station. Newly furnished room and very comfortable bed. Very clean Not so good points. On checking in we were informed that both nights the pub is open until 1am and there will be a band on the first night. The noise was unbelievably loud and we were located in a room above the pubs outside area. We had a window open as it was very warm and had to close it in the end to try and drown the sounds out. We could also smell smoke coming from the beer garden below. Only 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel supplied for a double room Last point, girl who booked us in was very friendly but after that we had no contact from the staff - no one asked us how our stay was etc. On the whole we would use this hotel again due to the nice rooms and good location close to family but would ask for a room at the back. Not really suitable to sleep where you can hear the band and patrons until such a late time of night.
Will be back
Excellent value for the price. Room was modern & clean..😀
Pleasant and clean
Needed to stay near welwyn Garden City and tried this. The room was recently decorated very clean. Comfortable bed and everything you need for a good night sleep. This is a pub so there is people about but not a problem. What I liked was there was no doors slamming all night like when I have stayed at many premiere inns..the room was small but cozy. I would stay there again.
Very friendly and helpful as I work shifts and on this occasion I was allowed to check in 2 hours early witch was great for me would stay again no problem
Great rooms would use again
Pear Tree Inn
The room itself was clean and tidy. The insulation was terrible - very cold room despite the radiator being on full. Wifi was good and the TV was good. There were coffee making facilities in the room - but no access to tap water within the room, but they did provide a small (500ml) bottle of drinking water each day. I was expecting an en-suite bathroom - but no a shared bathroom which meant having to wait for your turn to get to the shower or go to the loo.
Great place for the night, pub down stairs was a little noisy but tolerable, heating was not working but 20 mins and the owner sorted that out just fine, very good service
The Peartree
The room was really nice and comfortable with nice decor and very clean.but there was strong smell of damp wich got on my chest
Basic but clean, secure and freindly
The Location is excellent, doing business with Welwyn companies, there is this and the Homestead Best Western, to choose from. This is clean, new and very comfortable. Service is unobtrusive, but good if you need it. Not sure about the food, because I haven't ordered any, but the pub downstairs is welcoming, and has many big screens for the football.
Great start, could be even better
Many positives, The whole building has just had a revamp and looks excellent. Bed was comfy and room was large. Windows left open so room was cool - loved that. Pub downstairs has pool table and served food and good beer. Negatives, invest in quiet door closers, every single time a door was opened I knew about it. Bottle of water in room please. Don't ask an English contractor for proof of ID when your staff were Greek and Asian. Bought a pint then card not acceptable as minimum is 5 pound is annoying, rethink required. Jukebox not available till 8pm as you only have minimum contract is daft, buy the unlimited contract. Background music terrible.
Modern, Clean but sparse
The hotel is modern and clean. For business it is fit-for purpose. The rooms are small, but clean, modern and everything smells new. The Shared Bath/Toilet is an issue but manageable if forewarned. The "Free" wifi was patchy - so I ended up paying for a better service, I needed for work. Ideal for "working-away-from-home" when access to a cheap, modern, clean room and a bar, is your priority, over en suite and reliable Wi-Fi.
Positiv: Lage, Personal, Gebäude an sich selbst Negativ: Undichte Fenster, laute Nachbarschaft, Dusche hat nur getropft ohne richtigen Wasserstrahl
Nice, if u like noise and bottle smashing drunks
Van de buitenkant een leuke inn. Binnenkant beneden erg verouderd. Servies wordt niet goed schoon gemaakt. Veel herrie tot savonds laat. Afstandelijk personeel. Veel dronkaards (gasten) die schreeuwen en glazen stuk gooien. Verbouwingen zonder waarschuwing vooraf. Wij komen NOOIT meer terug.
For Adventurers
Note that this is not normal hotel. Its rooms on upstairs of an Bub. Bed room and bathroom was where pretty okay just been renovated. Room did not have heating on when I arrived so takes a bit time to get heating on. Wifi was promised to include but it was external Wifi where you need to register and I dont do that on sudden hotels.. Rooms are not sound proof so you can hear moves on the hallway and other room discussions. There is no restaurant at the Bub(hotel) so NO dinner and no breakfast available. Place suites if you want to have some exploration on authentic UK village life.

Not a great place to stay.
