The property was not well maintained, no staff presence at reception. The smoke alarm had been disarmed and put in the wardrobe. The TV did not work. There was no cutlery to stir your cup of tea/coffee or a place. All in all very very disappointing and definitely unsafe.
It was very convenient to shops and restaurants. The manager was very helpful and sbliging. It has car parking.
Close to where all the action is in Parnell for a very good price. It’s not the Ritz but I couldn’t afford that. Was fairly quiet, hot in the room, fan provided. Couldn’t adjust temperature in shower. Wanted a cold one but couldn’t seem to change it. Easy to access. Never actually saw any staff
The property is not cared for, the floors weren't vacuumed , doorhandles broken lights not working Overall a dissapointing property
We liked the fact it was clean bedding, but we were cold. Bed not very comfortable, thin uncomfortable pillow. TV did not work, milk stale it spoilt our coffee and could not drink it. Would not go back.
Bottom right drawer near tea and coffee had not been cleaned at all. Food, plastic glass, insects seen in there. Not good enough!
Having stayed at various similar hotels in same price bracket, its pretty basic. The Hostel at NewMarket (No9) is the same price, more modern, larger rooms, larger ensuite, has Aircon, TV works, harder beds and generally cleaner. I had a long wait as theirs no permanent manned reception, as I bounce thru phone numbers on the front window. No Aircon. Parking is $10. WiFi is free but no signage anywhere (but I worked it out). TV is hilarious - fixed maximum volume with no ability to adjust. Generally clean (ensuite is immaculate), but bedroom wall had a lot of food splatter on it. Bed is medium soft. There's plenty of potential, wish the venue well for the future.
A pretty old building but okay for what we pay.
Good location. Quiet. Not many amenities but otherwise basic, clean and tidy.
Great location. Good price for Parnell. Liked that they allow dogs ($50/night) and have parking ($10/night, first come first served). Was clean and the check in lady was nice. Absolutely fantastic restaurants within a couple minutes walk. I'd stay there again.
Hair dryer would be good. It was noisy this stay (after 11.30pm) however, in the past it hasn't been like this.
Clean and convenient.
Beautiful location. Close to The city centre. Safe, private car parking, well appointed room. Basic restaurant off the Reception area. Despite having room cancellation insurance, property owner not willing to honour.
It was a clean and tidy convenient stay for what we needed. Good price and I have no complaints. Would use them again if needed.
Reception isn't manned but calling the contact numbers provided, found their response prompt.
Do not stay
Would not stay again at all. It was not very clean. There were police in the corridors obviously attending another guest there and a security guard was in attendance. I actually left and did not stay the night. I went elsewhere and forfeited my money.
We enjoyed the room, we felt safe, it was very quiet. Unfortunately staying more than 1 day didn’t mean the tea bags were refilled each day- but really it was very good!
We love staying here for concerts at Spark Arena or Mt Smart as it is a lovely area and either walkable or train station handy.
Self check in was straight forward. Property was very clean. Simple room, quite adequate for overnight stay. Limited off street parking. Thank you.
Very budget.
Staff service is good. Friendly staff. Can hear corridor noise, a bit noisy when we were there. Older building but it's clean and tidy.
Location great
No staff around and room was very small we rented for 2 adults and 1 child but no bed for child and took 30 minutes to put another bed in the room but no space we call so many times for but nobody answered and very noisy
The TV did not work. Neither did the sky. Heater is room was not efficient, can I suggest a heat pump upgrade.
I needed a one night stay close to the train station and this location checked those boxes and was a good value. It was an unusual commercial building style layout that had me wondering about the conversion to hostel. Clever. When I first stepped into the lobby it felt like a doctor's Office rather than a hostel. But the staff met me and put me at ease, ensured I had wifi. The room had everything I required for my short stay, including extra blankets and heaters for the cold night. It and was very clean. It fits the category of a quiet private hostel room for the right price in a fantastic neighborhood.
convenient and good location
This property is clean enough, but overall it feels like a bit of a dump…the shower water pressure was appalling.
Quaint little hotel. Excellent pizza.
The room was very clean But when I rang about the remote not working didn't get a reply. Discovered later there was no battery in the remote. No wonder it didn't work. Their guests were very inconsiderate making lots of noise around 10 and then at 12.45am . 10 hot points in the room but no USB . I forgot to take my adapter ! Check in Staff were very pleasant.
Was convenient for us as we were attending a concert nearby for 1 night but wouldn’t recommend for a holiday etc
I found this place to be a little under average unfortunately. While I slept well in the end, there was a lot of noise from other rooms, people yelling, children playing at 11pm (It was a Thursday) and there was a man with a bulldog walking around my floor which made me nervous. Also there was a wide open door at all times to an external staircase which accessed the carpark however its very high, steep and unsafe so I question it being used at all
ok
Very clean. Close to all facilities
Convenient for railway station
Parnell Pines is in a lovely part of town close to the railway station. The reception person went out of her way to help me, as my phone wasn’t working, to order me a taxi and rang me at 6.30am to tell me the taxi was outside!! So kind. There is a small restaurant next door selling Indian Street food snacks which is worth a visit but if that doesn’t appeal there are many bars and restaurants along the street. Very convenient hotel for the railway - would recommend.
Average, a 2 to 3 star property. No aircon, noisy quite dated, more like a hostel style property.
The lack of parking on the premises was an issue. Had to park 2ks away due to no parks available on the road.
Obviously a very old motel renamed a hotel. Fixtures broken or missing, no AC, noisy, dirty. Bed was clean, uncomfortable; consumables (sheets, towels, to, etc) we’re good.
Clean but looking a bit run down, no air-conditioning.
Good value for money - has everything you need.
The room was sufficient. Half used toilet rolls were provided.. The staff were friendly. Bed clean bathroom clean
The cafe out the front is closed down now and there is no proper reception area but the place was nice and clean, surprisingly quiet, beds were comfortable etc. Overall very happy with our stay. They offered car parks but it was incredibly cramped, some of the car parks available would require about a 15-point turn to manoeuvre in or out of. Seemed like a lot more effort than it would be worth, but there is plenty of street and nearby parking.
Good service ..great room Affordable ..easy parking Dinning ..etc
Very handy to shops and bus links. Room clean and tidy. Reception unattended and had to ring to get someone to attend. Pluses out way negatives, would stay again. Served our needs adequately
Was a nice little motel. Unfortunately the cafe was shut down, and the parking was terrible. No kitchen either.
Location was just right
The most disgusting place we have ever stayed. So filthy, the whole place stunk. The room was so small you could barely move. Had to ask for cups cloths pillows teaspoon etc as only one of everything. This is more of a backpackers accommodation . Walls are like paper. Bed was so hard we might of well slept on the floor. Really wish we had asked to view the room before we paid as first appearances said it all. Nothing like the photos at all !!!!
Great staff really friendly
Walking distance to restaurants and cafes. Easy access to motorways.
This is not a hotel, it is a motel at best.
Convenient location and helpful staff. Room was a bit small and wet.
Missing smoke protectors & some basic utensils for longish stays.
Clean, comfortable beds, convenient. The kitchen is very poor, with no dishcloth, plates or utensils.. No restaurant either, but closed due to covid I guess.
The hotel is part of the same building that was an emergency housing motel - car park usage was never considered as right next door to the motel . Room was well-worn & I didn’t think good value for money .
Location excellent and value for money very high
It was close to all the great restaurants
Great location, convenient w nice local cafe at front door. Great coffee and breakfast.
I liked the location I didn't like the small, cold room. There was no heat pump to keep the room warm. Also it was noisy when people were going down the hallway.
Great place in an excellent location
The photos provided of the room did not show how it really is. and it was more like back packing accomodation
Wireless internet was poor in my room and the TV didn't work.
The location is great - right in the Center of Parnell. However the property is old, tired and the rooms are minuscule, bad mattresses that need replacing, appalling ‘water saving’ shower heads - so as long as you like a steam shower and not a wetting shower I guess it’s fine, bathrooms a less than tiny with no room around sink to put ANYTHING, one spare pillow only and the two that were on the bed were hard and horrible....not a pleasant stay sorry to say. Would not stay again and would not be recommending to anyone I liked!
Location was superb, parking orice was reasonable.
old, split vinyl in bathroom, hair on mirror fixtures, dirty floor, fly spotting on roof & walls, kitchen really old, no utensils or plates, just 3 cups & teaspoons. floor underneath fridge obviously not been cleaned long time. wehad room under managers accomodation, which meant lots of noise & stomping. really old accomodation, but supose got what we paid for, cheers
Parnell Pines is our number 1 goto accommodation in Auckland. We love that we can park, enter and unpack very quickly, then walk straight out onto the main road in Parnell to fabulous restaurants and cafes. Mark and Sherwin are very professional managers with such kind and sincere greetings.
I paid a great value price and expected the accommodation to be basic. This was not the case as the ROOM WAS GREAT, VERY CLEAN, MODERN, KITCHENETTE, new looking bedding, new looking, trendy crockery etc, spacious, with queen and single bed. SERVICE BOTH ON PHONE AND IN PERSON WAS EXCELLENT, THANKS. Will not hesitate to use next time we are in Auckland (we are from Hamilton) as it was also in a great location for my training in Parnell. food, sight seeing and shopping. It has a quaint cafe on the road frontage and some quirky independent shops next to and opposite. Inc a chocolate shop!! Accommodation is tucked away and quiet, but just off the main road (20 paces), although you would not know the road was there. THANKYOU !
Like self check in by text. Funny smell in the halls though
The premises are close to Parnell Road, but the rear units below the road are really quiet. The cafe attached to the building is really good. There is a steep drive alongside the Parnell Pines.
restaraunt on site
Great location with free onsite parking. Adequate rooms just needing a wee bit of maintenance. Thank you Mark for your friendly obliging service which made the stay a good one.
quite
Standard room, clean and as expected.
The location suited me perfectly this time. I’m 67 so found it hard dragging my bag up the stairs on my own. Didn’t want to ask for help cos they were so busy cleaning. The shower was blocked and I stood amongst dirty soapy water with other peoples hair in it. Yuck
Would not recommend this motel. The room smelt musty and felt dirty. The pictures made the room look bigger and nicer than what it actually was. The kitchenette is basically shoved in a cupboard. The fridge was not turned on which was disappointing. There are no *extras here. Very basic. The location is fantastic and i did expect more from a motel in Parnell. Will not be back.
Old and very tired rooms. More like a boarding hostel. No parking available
Location was very central and handy to many amenities.
The room was small and basic. Did not have a little fridge nor aircon. We found that the glass left in the bathroom for gargling had not been washed and had dried toothpaste residue from previous guests. We also found a piece of lingerie left in the wardrobe from the previous guest . Staff was friendly and helpful though.
Our stay in Parnell
Well positioned in a very busy shopping area. Plenty of eating opportunities within walking distance . We did have difficulty with the shower controller, either extra hot or cold. Unit 2.
It's a perfect location if you need to get stuff done in town but don’t want the busy and noise roads. This place surround by good eats, cafe at the front of the hotel. Wine store up the road, bars and restaurants down the same road. NSP, Gerome is 1 minute away. Jonathan Grant Gallery is 1 minute away as well. BurgerFuel, paper plus, woodpecker Hill is down the road maybe 3-5 mins walk. Daily is about the same distance. Many boutique shops around. Nail salon is across the road.
Convenient location and nice little coffee/breakfast cafe in the front. Parking not good for large vehicles.
Centrally located motel with its own restaurant basic accommodation small quite room good breakfast
A very clean and tidy property. A slight hassle With our check in which was sorted out quite quickly. Room was smaller but perfectly comfortable, bed very comfortable. It will be a property that we will return to when next visiting Auckland. A coffee shop (LaLa Cafe) is attached to the hotel which is well run, has amazing food and great coffee. The property is also surrounded by many cafes and restaurants.
The room we were placed in was directly under the cafe so we experienced a lot of noise from above. Plenty of clanging from dishes being done, stomping etc. It looked as though a previous guest had vomited on the main bedroom wall and this had not been cleaned properly, as there was still obvious streaking on the white walls. The dishes provided in the studio kitchen were above expectations; it seemed there was everything available however the forks were missing. The service provided from staff was pleasant and friendly, the overall quality of the hotel was average and I am hoping it was only our particular room that let us down. Given the hygiene and cleaning were improved, I would consider staying again as the price was ideal for the size.
The location was good, very close to where we needed to be. The room is not overly soundproof, we were woken up by staff talking outside our door at 7.15 in the the morning. There is a cafe out front, which isn’t isolated from the hotel, so people could just walk in from there. This was made worse by no security door between reception and hotel. When we arrived there was also finger marks all over our white room door, it appeared those marks where older which made us think that there’s a lack of attention to detail and general cleanliness.
Fine for one night.
Bed was small and uncomfortable; the place is very loud from street noise and other guests. The staff were very helpful though so that was appreciated. Great location.
Well situated and very clean. My room was downstairs and with a wooden floor between that and the upstairs, it was incredibly noisy when the people upstairs did any walking/moving at all. The noise from the cafe late at night didn't help. Also, there was no aircon and it was incredibly hot. There was a pedestal fan provided.
Prompt reply to get fan exchanged and the cafe at front of complex
Parnell pines is in a great location!! Suited us for our one night stay, clean, tidy and easy to find.
We don’t like the service, property condition and service from the staff.
Location was fantastic, parking great. very clean & tidy
Excellent location in the centre of the Parnell Shopping district. Wonderful cafe attached for meals.
The price of the room did not reflect the fact it was located down a long dark corridor, no outlook and basically a dolled up backpackers. I did not stay there even though I paid for the room (too late to cancel so no refund or partial refund).
Liked that it was quiet and the room was adequate for what we needed and central
Cramped conditions for what you pay for; ideal location for CBD; no refrigeration for beverages (not even a mini fridge?)
The only problem was no space in the parking lot, so had to leave the car in the street
Very Good Service and lovely staff were very patient
Fabulous location and the Lala cafes coffee and food was amazing! Only negative was our bed was too hard and the pillows too flat.
The position gave access to transport, shops and other facilities. The vibrant cafe was a good aspect of the motel
The walls were very thin We could hear everything from turf adjacent room
Fabulous staff and good food at cafe following surgery

Very strange… advertised parking but it was basically unusable. Huge party in the lot behind the hotel No one at reception to greet us Insecure front door I think an apartment complex on the lower levels.
