Staff was very accommodating in our room request. Quiet rooms in the back of the property. Very close to metro and trams
The positives: A nice, spacious, quiet room in a fantastic location! The negatives: We found it impossible to communicate with the hotel. We sent several emails asking if it was possible to store luggage but got no response. It is strictly check in at 3, check out at 11.
Great spot. Love the self check in and having door codes instead of keys is great. The AC is AMAZING. Also violin buskers will sometimes play outside and you can open windows and listen.
A gem of a find
This is an amazingly convenient hotel within the Stephenplatz megaplex. It is affordable, clean, and easy to access.
Good hotel. Near everything
We greatly enjoyed staying at Opera Suites. The location is fantastic to get around Vienna and enjoy the many things to do. What a treat to have the beautiful furnishings to match the time period of the building. Thank you for this innovative hotel and the treats you provide for us, the guests.
Very charming room
Perfect location to visit. But not great view from the windows for our room.
Love everything about it.
Great location. There was an issue with the door lock, but otherwise good for our short stay.
Excellent, quiet location in the city. Well appointed, late room. The check in process was super easy.
The location is as good as it gets. Definitely a great value at the price.
Perfect!
Wonderful place in a fantastic location. Just be sure to read the self check in info closely so that you are prepared since there is no one on site.
A decent option for the right travelers....
Great location and a decent room. But lack of front desk, no visible staff, no food options - and problems with the key mid-stay would cause us to try somewhere different next time. Both times I called the 24 hour phone line for help it went to a recording that told me to send an email. Not great service. When I tracked down staff, they were great...just no way to reach them!
Fabulous service !
Location of the accommodation is first class . The service is second to none. There was a problem with the heating in the room, which couldn’t be fixed straight away . We were offered to change the room, which was fabulous . We were treated by people who were extremely friendly and efficient , thank you , we will come again .
The hotel is in a fantastic location for museums, palaces & gardens in the southern part of the inner city. Supermarkets are also in walking distance. Don't be alarmed if you can't find the door at first as it's tucked away. Look for the FasTest clinic & it's a couple of doors to the right. The only negative was the elevator as it's small. Two adults & two large suitcases won't fit.
Perfect location, quiet, keyless access, good shower.
Excellent room. Nice view. Breakfast was a bit too simple. Some fruits or yoghurt could be included in the continental breakfast may be?
Good choice nearby Opera House
Comfort and nice equipment
Fantastic position
A gem in Vienna
This was the perfect hotel for our needs. We were in Vienna to attend the opera, which is only a few steps away from the hotel. The room was spacious, a novelty in Europe, and clean. There were fresh roses, fruit, and cookies waiting in the room. Breakfast was brought to us the next morning at the time we requested. The only negative was the slow internet in our room, but the signal was strong at the desk provided in the hallway. One warning: the elevator is very small!
Just a quick stop in Vienna for one night so wanted to be really central. The hotel staff were lovely, the room was huge and faced the courtyard so was very quiet
The room was clean, tidy and well appointed. Slightly on the smaller side, but worked quite well. Very quiet, and an excellent location in the heart of Vienna. It was a little hard to find, we walked right past the entrance, and the elevator is tiny and old. This property is a higher standard pension style not a full service hotel and is priced accordingly for the location. A fantastic in room breakfast served daily.
Perfect location, in the heart of Vienna. very clean, friendly stuff, near to the public transport really only positives
Central location
You're right in the centre of town. Our room was on the street facing the side of the Sacher hotel. There is a lot of noise from outside which continues right through the night. The room did have secondary glazing (the outside windows were filthy but don't imagine they are easy to clean). It did not keep out any of the noise but did let in lots of natural daylight which was nice. The room and bathroom were a good size. Bottled water and some fruit and flowers on arrival were nice touch. The soft furnishings and furniture itself was very old and tired which let the room down (the photos on the website must me years old, literally years, things were so worn and stained. If you're used to night noise then this is not a bad choice if you want convenience without frills.
Vienna
Super convenience In the heart of downtown Hard to find off the address
Charming abode in great location
Charming 1800s building converted from large bourgeois flats into guest rooms on two floors. Excellent location opposite Hotel Sacher and the Opera , friendly receptionists.
I liked the location, however it was very difficult to find, actually requiring assistance from people on the street.he The elevator was awkward and it was tricky to find the reception on the third level. The staff was very helpful and so pleasant. I liked that it was small and intimate, our room was very quiet. I liked the kitchenette facilities.
Superb location, discrete and quiet room, kind staff
GREAT location and value!
This hotel is indeed across from the side doors of the Vienna State Opera and a block away from the Metro station Karlsplatz -- U4, two stops from City Center "Wien Mitte"where you can take the S7 or a regional train to the airport for about 7 Euros each way...No need for a taxi. I went out at 6 am to go back and felt very safe. While the hotel is old, it is quaint with friendly staff. Rooms are small but very clean and you have everything you need including coffee machine and mini bar. The reception, however, is not available 24/7 and while they knew I was departing early there was no one at the desk at 6 am to pay my bill, so Hotel.com had to follow up with payment once I contacted them. Other than that, I was very happy with the overnight and would certainly stay there again!
love the location its in the heart of walking to everything.
Good location
It was difficult to find the hotel. We got to the street easily but then walked up and down a few times until we saw a sign on a door, set back from the street and behind a magazine seller. Check in was pleasant and friendly and the hotel is in a great location for the old city attractions and places to eat. Our room was small but functional. No desk for working but as the wifi (all 4 networks we tried) didn’t work anyway it was less important. The bed was comfy and our room was quiet. The bathroom was small with a very compact shower! I guess you pay for the location but the lack of space and wifi is a big turn off.
Good accommodation sited within the city centre and with good access to many major attractions.
Right Location
Very nice staff and close to everything.
Location was amazing! Very charming. Staff was was kind.
Most Excellent
Amazing Staff, Great Location
Nice place
Good location, nice spacious rooms We had 2 superior double rooms that were great for our group of 5 adults. It is up a couple flights of stairs but there is a small elevator if needed. Staff was helpful.
Superb location next to the opera with excellent staff. No breakfast room. Average room quality.
Overall, it was a pleasant stay. There was some confusion over my booking with led to me having to pay a surcharge, which was unfortunate and the room was not cleaned one of the days when I stayed there, but the location was amazing. The room was large, clean, and air-conditioned. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a perfect location to visit central Vienna and be right in the heart of things.
Great view of Opera House
all well ...great service, location, rooms....
Location, Location, Location! Accross from Opera House and Hop-On Hop-Off Bus as well as other excursion bus lines. Convenient for shopping and many, many restaurants. Exceptional staff--warm, friendly and hepful.
Absolutely fantastic location walking distance to the major attractions, very friendly and helpful staff and quaint facilities (the ultra-small elevator is funny).
Close to Viennese Culture
The Opera Suites is cleverly hidden as a hotel, but very conveniently located to so much of Viennese culture, including the Opera House, several art museums, and walking distance to musical performances by small but excellent groups. Tickets are sold daily on the streets around the hotel by students. One cannot go wrong by buying these tickets as the calibre of the music, and dance is first class. The hotel staff will recommend excellent places to dine for all meals.
Near Opera
More than perfect location, little noisy in the middle of the city, narrow entrance and very narrow lift, clean room.
Home in Vienna
Beautiful room with 15 foot ceilings right across the road from the Opera, Mozart café, and on the pedestrian mall taking you to St Stephens Platz. Felt exactly like we were living in our apartment in Vienna. Awesome
Excellent short break in Vienna
Friendly, helpful staff. Hotel ideally located for many local attractions (Staatsoper, Musikverein, Museum Quarter, Albertina etc) plus shopping and restaurants.
Decent hotel in the center
Nice place, reasonable price. Rooms smaller than anticipated, not ideal for business. Quite thin walls, which is a problem with loud guests. It was freezing cold outside when I was there, and the window frames didn't entirely close, even though the heating was decent. TV didn't work, which isn't a problem unless you want to watch TV. Bed was comfortable, wifi was reliable and fast. It's a fairly vintage place, which gives it a certain charm, but if you want a very practical business hotel, this is not the place. Would be nice for a personal trip to Vienna as it's bang in the center.
Awesome place to stay!
Apartment was just along the shopping street. Really convenient and staffs was very friendly and recommended nice restaurants place.
Great hotel close to everything
Excellent hotel close to everything. Friendly staff
A few bumps, but a pleasant stay
My room had issues with the heat the first night, so was too hot to sleep. As the front desk doesn't operate at night I couldn't get it fixed until morning. As soon as I reported it, they took care of it right away and my remaining stay was pleasant. My room faced the main pedestrian street, so was quite noisy at night and early morning (with trucks making deliveries). However, there are many rooms that are at the back of the property which I'm sure are quieter. The location is excellent and the staff are friendly & helpful.
A pearl in central Vienna
Very friendly staff. lovely big room at the back, so nice and quiet. Coffee and tea making facilities (actually a kitchenette in a cupboard :-)). Nice big bathroom with the best lighting I've had in a hotel bathroom for years :-). The hotel is situated on the pedestrian street more or less opposite the opera, so it couldn't be more central. We enjoyed the short distances to the various Christmas markets of Vienna. Only minus was that the radiators in the room has no thermostats so it was a bit "either hot or cold" but it is a very, very small minus :-) If we have to stay in Vienna another time we will definitely be back...
The Best Location!!!
Fabulously located near the Opera House on a walkway of great shops and restaurants, our stay at Opera Suites was lovely. The staff was very welcoming (we were greeted by a bowl of fruit and a dish of luscious chocolates), efficient and helpful. We had a couple of minor issues, one echoed in previous reviews: the street noise in the wee hours of the night and early morning disturbed our sleep even though we were on the fourth floor of the building and the unseasonably warm weather for several nights made the room stuffy since air conditioning was turned off. However, one of the hostesses did bring us a fan that was helpful. Otherwise, this is a charming boutique pension that we would recommend to everyone. The location alone makes it a great choice.
Great location not so great accommodation
This hotel is micro-sized and difficult to find. Our room was small even by European standards and definitely NOT a 'suite'. (Deceptive advertising). Arriving on a Saturday night, I paid more than three and a half times more for that night than I paid for the next, despite having reserved the room weeks in advance at the lower advertised price for both. The explanation? High demand allowed them to boost the price on Saturday night to whatever he market will bear. We felt used--micro room, no suite, overcharged, a lift that could not hold our luggage, etc. No restaurant. No provision for late check out despite requesting one. The plus is that it is located across from the opera house of Vienna, I seldom complain and realize that I bear some responsibility for not reading the fine print carefully enough, but this was one of the most disappointing experiences of my many travels.
Great location. Terrible bathroom
Everything was great. However the bathroom shower water would not go down when you showered so you would have to shut the water off for a bit so it wouldn’t overflow.
We arrived in the late evening, passed the reception open schedule. After we noticed them for our late arrival, a staff waited for us so that we had a smooth check in. Very appreciate!
Fantastic central position
Central location, so near all Viennas attractions. Position is almost opposite the Opera house. Perfect. Very good value
Great stay. At time of my stay, construction in the immediate area but no noise issues. Super easy location as you walk out the door and are less than 10 feet from a subway station. Short walk to the river and also right next to a bus stop on the bus route from the airport- meaning easy, inexpensive, and regular transport to/from airport. City is easy to navigate as the subway system is only a few lines and very consistent, and very convenient as hotel is one stop from station where lines meet/transfer. Hotel and staff were great and I would definitely stay again and plan to when I return!
Centrally located hotel with access to key sites.
Good value for the price. I was able to walk to many Vienna highlights. Lots of cafes and shops nearby. Cultural sites close by, including the Opera House and Lippizan stables. Several pedestrian streets offer good day and night experiences.
Old style, very friendly, very central
We have no regrets staying there for our stay in Vienna. We'd stay there again.
Service, staff, rooms, location all outstanding. Concierge services truly went beyond expectations . We will never stay any place else when visiting Vienna.
Fantastic hotel
It was such an amazing stay at Opera Suites. The service was fantastic and the room was very clean. Also, the location of this hotel is literally at the heart of city central. I enjoyed staying here and I'll definitely stay here again.
Perfect location, very pleasant room
When we arrived struggled to find the hotel as it's just a doorway in the middle of the shops. On the plus side, you could not be more central for shopping and exploring the sights and many museums and churches. When we eventually got in the room, we were disappointed to find it was made up for only 2 people, when booked for 3 adults. We had to wait for half an hour while the lady (older lady - 60 yrs old!) had to get a single bed, move the others around and make it up. She was absolutely lovely, so very nice and very apologetic that the room was not properly prepared for us. She came back with a complimentary bottle of fix and a beautifully presented box of chocolates. From our bedroom window we could see the Grand Opera, fab. The bathroom was spacious, though the shower was a bit of a struggle to keep in position. Lovely and clean, airy, air con. Mini bar, kettle and fridge. Plenty of hanging space and drawer space. Would highly recommend
Great staff
We had some travel issues that resulted in arriving a day earlier than planned. The staff booked us a room for an additional night, and had someone stay to check us in at midnight when we arrived. Nice clean room, air conditioning, internet and central location.
Very good central location, across from Opera
Very good location, across from the Wiener Staatsoper, on the beginning of the walking street. One block from metro entrance, across for Hotel Sacher (for Sacher Torte). Walking distance to museums and shops.
Great location
Great location, but the hotel especially rooms need renovation. Bathrooms seems to be in a good condition.
Nice hotel right in the middle of downtown, great for walking anywhere
Great Location
Great location, right across the street from the Opera House in Vienna, no big lobby, but very high class hotel. The service was excellent.
Best Location.
It's location, location, location. It's beside the Opera and Hotel Sacher. It's also near the tram and Metro Station. We got the smallest room, and a small bed for 2. They have bigger rooms though. Our bathroom looks renovated but the room still has old carpeting. Staff is very nice and helpful. Mostly a good hotel if you're looking for a place to sleep
Great location and relatively good value.
I've stayed here before, mainly because of location, location, location near the opera house. Everything was fine--except for two issues. The first is that the wifi connection was spotty and frequently interrupted. The second is that I was "summoned" to go to the reception (which has limited hours) via a message taped to my door. I was then politely but firmly "requested" to change rooms, even though I had already spent a night in a single room and had unpacked all my stuff. This was not a big deal for me, in part because I was moved to a nice double room. But it might inconvenience others.
Perfect location
Very Central
Very central location, Comfortable Room, Friendly Staff
So close to Opera!
And so much better deal than any other hotel around. No bar, no staff, that is their secret.
Best location!
2 minutes walk to Karlplatz U-Bahn Lines 1,2, and 4, it doesn't get more central than this. Right across the Opera and Sacher Cafe. Lovely, surprisingly spacious room.
Fabulous apartment right in centre of city
The Opera Suites was an affordable and a fantastic place to stay right in the centre of the city opposite the Sacher hotel and chocolate shop and the the State Opera House. It was like having your own apartment. It was comfortable and spacious. It was worth ordering the breakfast for just under 12 euros - it was a traditional Viennese breakfast there was so much and it was brought to your room at a time of your choice. The decor was plush and grand keeping in with Viennese style and there was plenty of room in our apartment. There was coffee and t making facilities and a fridge with mini bar. Please do not miss out on this very affordable hidden treasure right in the centre of the city.
Beautiful niche hotel with great service
I can't stress how great of a hotel this was! The property may seem a little worn, but that is the beauty of it. You enjoy high ceilings in an old fashioned B&B type setting. It gives you a sense of actually being in Vienna, not some sterile hotel. The area is wonderful and this hotel is right in the heart of it. Everything you want is nearby. I can't recommend this place enough!
Honeymoon in Vienna
Wonderful, sweet staff and very accommodating. It was our honeymoon and they gave us giant bottle of champaigne and chocolates.
I would go there again just for the front desk and housekeeping staff. Superlative!
Modest hotel, excellent location and Staff
Modest hotel, excellent location and Staff, Highlight is the Saint Charles Cathedral and Museums within a walking distance.
Great location
The opera suites hotel is in a great location, it really is opposite the Sacher cafe. We found it tricky to spot as there are no signs on ground level, but if you find the Sacher cake shop it's just there. As you go up the stairs or the tiny creaky lift you realise it's an old building. The rooms are a good size though a bit cold. Staff were very helpful. The place is a bit old fashioned. You feel that you are right in the heart of Vienna and it's a short walk to the cathedral and the Hofburg palace. We walked from the train station taking about 15 minutes.
The perfect location in Vienna
The staff are very warm and helpful, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Opera Suites is across the street from Hotel Sacher and the Opera House, and a short distance to many great museums like the Albertina and Kunsthistorisches Museum.
Good location but not comfortable inside
This hotel is located in a good place with friendly staff. But there are many problems. First of all it is very difficult to locate since there is no clear sign especially if you check in at night. There is only one small elevator which barely fits one person with one or two bags and is extremely slow. We had a small room which was the smallest room I ever had in any hotels. The room didn't have any ventilation and either we should have left the window open which was impossible during cold season or we couldn't easily breath. The hot water went on and off which was so annoying since one of the most essentials for any traveler is to have a warm shower. There was corrosion in the bath room. The room window was facing toward a corridor which brightened the room anytime a person walked in that corridor and this was so annoying during sleep hours.
Cute little Place
Staff is fantastic and the location can't be any better!
fabulous location
We stayed in the Opera Suites the last night of our stay in Vienna but in the short time its location and service defined a great place we would consider if we return to the city. Entrance on the elevator was a bit problematic because no one initially responded to the doorbell and only one of us could go up with luggage at a time. The room was spacious and right across from Sacher Hotel (of Sacher torte fame) and kitty corner to the Opera. The management called a taxi for us for the airport and he came to the front desk to help with luggage. A good stay.
Super Staff
All the staff at this hotel were super nice.At check-in told us about areas we wanted to see and how to get there. Like the fresh fruit and note in room as an arrival gift. Close to train station, food options, and shopping. A little hard to find but look for the Ecco shoe store(hotel door next to it) and across from the The Sacher Hotel.
Great location close to everything. Staff was very helpful
A little gem in the middle of old town
Opera Suites has only 12 rooms and the type of assistance the staff gives reflects that. They have a great location on a pedestrian only street about a block from the Opera. About ten days before flying to Vienna Opera Suites contacted me asking for the arrival time of my plane and if I needed any help arranging things for my trip. I asked for them to arrange for a driver to pick me up At theairport And they did. I arrived at the hotel around 930 am- way before the 3pm check in time. I was exhausted and asked Julia the receptionist if there was any chance I could get into my room early( keep in mind check out time is noon). She checked and the previous resident had just left... So Julia asked the housekeeper to switch and clean my room. I had some questions( like where to pick up my Vienna pass-half block away In the underground). In less than a half hour I was in my room. My room was a single &it was small like many European rooms often are. The twenty foot high ceilings helped to balance it out. The doors are locked with a keyed deadbolt and you have to use the key to lock yourself in the room. The room came appointed with a large wardrobe, mini fridge and a note w fresh apples &chocolates. The room was quiet &private as is this hotel. You could pass the door on the street and not realize that it was there. It felt more like a small apartment &made me feel more like a resident and not just a visitor to Vienna. If I make it back I want to stay @Opera Suites again!
Brilliant hotel, brilliant location
Excellent hotel with staff that go above and beyond, in a superb location. I will be staying here again!
Very spacious room and everything was very clean. Good communication with staff in English.
Nice hotel good location
The hotel check in was quick easy and before time which was helpful. The staff were friendly although we didn't need much from them they were welcoming. The room was big and set back from the street, within a building block so no noise at all from outside as the location is in the main town centre. Bed was quite comfy. Bathroom was really nice. There was tea and coffee to use plus some shower gels. Hairdryer, mini bar and a safe. The location was perfect!! Exactly opposite the famous hotel sacher where we went for sachertorte a few times!! The statsopera is also just over the road. The nearest tube is round the corner- karlsplatz and the imperial palace and stephenplatz cathedral is only a 5 min walk. The location was the best thing about the hotel. We saw so much and did so much by walking or the underground. I would recommend this place highly. Only downside of hotel was they didn't change bed sheets every day- not a big deal, the lift is a bit old and worrying! There are 6 flights of stairs to reception- again not a big deal though and they didn't refil our loo roll one day everything else was great!
A 'must stay' for couples visiting Vienna
Stayed for 5 nights, loved it, enjoyed great assistance from all the staff, nothing too much trouble, so easy to get to all the central locations in Vienna and access to the public transport for those attractions a little further out. We loved it and highly recommend it. With only 12 suites in total, the privacy creates a very nice atmosphere.
Great location. Double room small
Hotel Opera Suites is ideally located across the street from the Opera in the First District. It is within walking distance from all the sites and activities. The Suites are above the Ecco shoe store on the main shopping street so it took us sometime to locate it. We had the standard double bed room and though it maybe typical of an European hotel room it was very small for two people. The bed was literally a double bed and not two twins as with most European hotels. The shower was extremely small measuring approximately 2.5 feet square. You could not bend over and pick up a bar of soup if you dropped it. All that said, the rooms were very nicely decorated, the staff very helpful and pleasant, while you gave up a larger room somewhere else for the suites location.
Excellent location
This hotel is right in the centre of Vienna close to the Palace, St Stephens, lots of restaurants and the shopping area. The staff are very friendly and helpful. An ideal base which enables you to walk everywhere.
Loved it!
Had a great stay made even better by the caring and helpful staff. It would be nice if the entrance to the hotel were marked more clearly. It is a marvelous place in a marvelous location.
True Gem
A small hotel with everything you could want. We were next to the Sacher and the opera. What more could one want!
Excellent!
This was my 4th time at the Opera Suites, and as always, I loved it. It is a small hotel, right on the main walking street, Kartnerstrasse, and right across from the Hotel Sacher. It is adjacent to a Starbucks, which is helpful in finding the very small entryway. There is an extremely small elevator that takes you up to the check-in counter. The staff there have been invariably kind and extremely helpful. The location is outstanding, one block from the Opera and from an underground station, with many fine restaurants and stores nearby. I would not stay anywhere else in Vienna!
The location is extremely convenient. We received good quality of service. Will recommend this hotel to friends.
Classic small Viennese hotel
Beautiful, classic Viennese hotel. Gorgeous tall Windows overlooking Kaertnerstrasse. But ask for a room off the street... We had difficulty sleeping bc of the noise. Also it is advertised as "with air conditioning" but they said they don't turn it on until June. We found it stuffy even in May. Otherwise staff was very helpful
Excellent location. Steps from the Opera House!
I accidentally booked one night less than we needed. They could not extend out room, but had another that was available and that room was bigger and had views of the Opera House. Very friendly and accommodating. I would stay there again. The location was excellent. Right in the center of the historic district. Close to museums, the palaces, etc. Our first time in Vienna was a weekend to remember! The king sized beds are a plus too! And the price was reasonable.
It's close to everywhere. The location is great! The hotel is nice and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Opera Suites - Self Check-in | Home in Vienna | Travala.com
Excellent spot with main attractions in walking distance. Used as one night oversleep with short visit around the city. We used close by bounce luggage storage, right behind the State opera, while checking out from the appartment, that gave us extra time to visit Hofburg.
