Kun Kun is an oasis of peace and quiet nestled in very busy down town Ubud. The green rice field, the fish ponds and the resident duck are lovely to see each day, the pool with frangipanni flowers falling in it, is paradise and the rooms are very well cared for and cleaned each day. The staff are fun and friendly and were the highlight of our stay. The upstairs room that overlooks the rice paddy is beautiful but it can be hard work getting up and down those stairs multiple times are day, so a downstairs room around the pool might be better if you are not super fit.

The swimming pool was fantastic and the friendliness of the staff was fantastic.

We loved kun kun was a great location, with amazing facilities and great staff all at a really reasonable price, would recommend to friends and family and will certainly be coming back!

I’ve stayed here three times now, over a period of about 15 years. It’s located right off a main street with lots of restaurants and small shops, but the rooms overlook a rice field. Quiet and beautiful. Staff is very attentive and the place is immaculate. Great value for money. I highly recommend.

I was very surprised on the condition of the maintenance, very well maintained presented very well. We had difficulty finding it though, but we did in the end.

Quiet area over looking a rice field, clean and refreshing pool, staff friendly and helpful.

Lovely place and people. The staff is always cleaning up starting early morning. The room was spacious and well equipped. The included breakfast was decent.

Solid Value, Quiet But Central Location

Meticulous landscaping, attention to detail, good location off the main street with gorgeous rice field view. Pool was a good size with loungers. Staff very helpful, attentive and always smiling.

Authentic Bali experience

Really peaceful accommodation in a great location minutes from all you’d want to visit in Ubud. All staff were really friendly. Breakfast very tasty as long as you like the one breakfast served each day which we did! It is not a modern hotel but you do feel like you are staying in Bali

Noisy if you get the wrong room

Was put in a field facing room on the ground floor, not much privacy from passers by and staff and kept up at night by hundreds of ducks quacking in the field outside since the doors/windows provided little sound proofing. The bathroom was a quite run down and hot water was scarce. The bed was huge and comfy, however, and the staff and breakfast were lovely.

Comfy alongside rice fields in the middle of Ubud

Lovely guesthouse in a perfect location for Ubud. The pool is great on a hot day and I enjoyed the changing mains for breakfast each day. The staff were always obliging and constantly cleaning! Only downside was that the water wasn't quite hot enough.

Good small hotel ith pool in central ubud.

This hotel is small and friendly and has a lovely pool. It is just behind Atman Nourish Kafe which is very easy to find and is along a quiet lane, some rooms have views of rice paddies. I didn’t try the breakfast. It is on the same street as the supermarket where you are dropped if you come to ubud by mini van from Padangbai and very close to everything. The rooms are OK but could definitely do with updating whereas the pool area is charming.

Location excellent. Funky homestead down dirt alley across rice field. Windows had bars and did not close tightly so mosquitoes are an issue. Management wants make $ so would not make local call for us because they want us purchase from them services. Beds extremely uncomfortable. WiFi off and on.

Simple but lovely

It was like written. We got what we expected. It was a simple but very friendly homestay. Clean and everything worked.

The guesthouse gave a secluded feeling although it was in town. The set out is excellent and very clean. The staff are very happy and welcoming. Will definitely stay again and recommend highly to anyone.

Great hotel in central Ubud

Great stay. Huge room and bathroom, with great breakfast. One street over from the very touristy street, but still in the middle of Ubud. I’d highly recommend it!

Err .. just my thoughts

Everything gd .. location, staff, breakfast gd .. but the hygiene really headache.. they never wash the bedsheets.. it was so smelly when I step in the room .. I never dare use the bathroom.. n water pressure so slow that I give up .. I went to massage spa found along the streets n bath there instead.. lucky I only book 1 night

Great location with awesome view

Apart from the wifi and shower being a little weak, being very close to nature (ducks, frogs, dogs? making noises all day/night long) makes up to the isolation from the city life. Would be able to stay in the facilities whole day without any problem! Oh, and the facilities survived the 5 Aug earthquake too!

excellant place to stay for a family vacation

it was great. it has both pro and cons. first positives.. excellant location . in heart of ubud. relatively big rooms with nice view of rice fields. fairly ok breakfast. owner and his family are very nice people. negatives include limited breakfast. only eggs and fruit which is ok for couple of days but if you need longer stay then obviously you need more variety. parking is only for scooter, m cycle. if you have rented a car like we did, it will be a problem.

Loved it

I really enjoyed my 2 night stay. I had room #1 on the 3rd (top) floor which had a lovely private balcony and views over the rice field. My bed was comfy and the room a good size. The quaintness of the hotel was exactly what I was looking for as I just wanted to relax and soak up the Ubud atmosphere. Being down an alleyway meant it was quiet and away from the hussle and bussle. The breakfast was perfect for me and included a large plate of fruit, coffee and on one day a toasted banana and honey sandwich and the other day an omelet. All delicious. The pool area was lovely. The staff were friendly. It is located in an alley almost opposite Kafe restaurant. I had no hot water during my stay and I assumed it wasn't included - however when I looked at the hotel website when I got home it says it is included so my fault for not following up while there. I was on my own and felt very safe. I would stay here again.

Kunang-Kunang Guesthouse was ok

Would recommend this hotel as its close to attractions and is comfortable enough the fresh daily tea was lovely although breakfast could have been better there was a wasp nest in the curtains which we showed them and they said they would deal with that when we left (completed our stay at the guesthouse) the sheets were not changed and the bed remade with clearly dirty sheets shampoo and body wash was not replaced when required the toilet paper was not replaced and we had to ask for another roll of toilet paper every day of our stay (total of 5 day stay) - really not a good look for your guesthouse! bath sheets would be a good addition to the 'little' towels that were provided Notifying the staff of a loose leaking fitting was not a priority so we fixed the vanity faucet that was loose (and leaking onto the floor) it required tightening of the nut securing the tapware to the vanity top - general maintenance should be a priority to ensure the comfort of the guests - we saved the staff from having to clean up, repair and resolve this issue - however we were on holiday!

Well located guesthouse

Great staff, friendly and helpful. Very nice family own/operate this guesthouse and they keep it spotless. Excellent location. Hot breakfasts were especially good. I appreciated the large helping of fresh fruit each morning. I would upgrade to a deluxe room next time; standard room is comfortable, but basic.

Quiet location

Located just out of the hustle and bustle of Ubud but close enough for easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping,

We enjoyed our stay here, great deal for the price. Everything was clean, room was spacious and bed was comfortable. In walking distance to most things there are to do inUbud, which is important since traffic was really bad during our stay. Would stay again

I ❤️ Kunang-Kunang Guesthouse

The room is very clean, the AC is working perfect, the swimming pool is nice, the bed is VERY comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The only thing bookers need know is that breakfast menu is fixed but it changes everyday :) not to worry tho, if you don't like what they offer - across the street there's a wonderful breakfast-lunch-dinner spot that offer gluten free & vegan foods. Do know that Ubud is for retreating from busy daily life, there's no TV in the room - but the room is very spacious that you can do yoga in your own room ❤️ I hope this helps booker to get a general idea what they want to book when in Ubud. Namaste.

A great hotel in Ubud

Beautiful setting overlooking rice paddies, very quiet and relaxed but minutes away from all the hustle and bustle of Ubud. Staff were lovely, very helpful and attentive, the rooms were cleaned every day and fresh towels provided.The pool was a bonus after a hot day sightseeing.i would happily recommend the hotel and will stay there again on my return to Ubud before I fly home.

absolutely gutted

My wallet was stolen from my locked room whilst I was sleeping on the last night before I left my last night form my room whilst I was sleeping I had locked the door and it was next to me on the beside table It was ripped and torn open...all my money and cards...drivers licence and all my identity was taken I have been left penniless...and have been unable to complete my holiday...couldnt rent a car ...couldnt see my family and was left without the ability to function I worked hard all year to save up for a few days peace and tranquility yet someone criminally violated my personal space TO THE HIGHEST DEGREE if it was staff who I certainly suggest ...........please know that I will trash your facilities to the max to all my friends back home and will and suggest not to go to Ubud & Bali alone as they obviously view mature aged women targets and easy prey Disgusted that someone would do this while I was sleeping!! I will never go back!

Beautiful Gem in a Central Location

After much searching for a hotel/guesthouse in Ubud, I decided on Kunang-Kunang as it was "located centrally" and I didn't want the hassle of moving in taxis or shuttles when I am a single female traveler. I wanted to be near cafes and shops for handiness sake. The staff were super! Could not do enough for you, left me to my yoga training and back to the airport. I cannot say enough nice complements about the boys there. <3 I stayed twice at this guesthouse, for 4 nights when I arrived and 2 nights before leaving. At the end of my yoga training I was tired and the easiest thing was to book the same place again. This tells you a lot that I actually went back! It is very centrally located, the streets are safe if you a single female traveler (though have some common sense!), the staff are so nice and helpful, I cannot thank them enough for making my stay so easy and stress free. First room was Superior Rice Paddy view with AC: was a lovely big room, fantastic view of the rice field. Its beside the front desk so you do get a bit of noise. Second room was Standard room with AC: located at the back of the hotel, had a fan and AC. Looked over the pool. Was a lot quieter than the first room. Fresh towel and room tidied every day. Some local walking times: Yoga Barn: 10 mins Coco Supermarket (beside Yoga Barn): 10 mins The Market itself: 20 mins long way, 15 short way via Tasku Monkey Forest: 15-20 mins Ubud Palace: 15 mins Post Office: 30 mins

good choice for a mid-range accommodation in ubud

Excellent location, and the pool although small was a plus... It would be better if they can serve breakfast to us in our veranda by request. The room where we stayed at was fan which i thought was ok, but bali can be incredibly hot on afternoons (even in november) so perhaps they can make all rooms with aircon. some of the rooms here have aircon and i recommend anyone to book that. This place is 15 mins walk away fr yogabarn yoga studio.

Relaxing and Calm overlooking Rice Paddies

i had 5 nights here.. I enjoyed it a lot. It's a haven of serenity but only 20 metres from a beautifully busy restaurant and lots of cute shops and very healthy food

Bright little Fire Fly

Kunang-Kunang translated to english means Fire Fly; fire flies shine from the inside out as does this hotel. Wayan and Ketut at the front desk were helpful, the pool was clean,the grounds were very well kept. I enjoyed the breakfast each morning and found they were tasty, new item each day and the coffee very good too!

Great central location in Ubud with view

Great location and walking distance from most places you would like to go. Relaxing and quite atmosphere.

Great location, average hotel

Perfect location to see everything you need to in Ubud. The hotel was adequate for what we needed it for, just somewhere to sleep. The hotel organised a trip up to trek mount Batur which is well worth the early start-not sure if we got the best deal with the hotel though. Pool was a nice size as seemed like just the two of us using the hotel at the time.

Vintage gem in fabulous location.

A delightful, authentic and cheerful guesthouse with 'vintage' charm. Everything seems to be exactly as it was when built, no corporate bathroom upgrades, but it has its own special vibe. Rooms have what you nedd and are comfortable, the high ceilings and design make them an oasis of cool, even without a/c. The pool and gardens are bijou and gorgous.. its a real treat to walk up the little laneway with rice feilds on one side. Breakfast wasn!t much to speak of, but its available. There are numerous good warungs and restraunts in easy reach. The location and views, if you have upper floors, are very good...you know you're in Bali in this little gem..and that's a wonderful thing!

Good location

The staff at Kunang Kunang were very helpful when I needed to alter my booking. The room I had overlooked beautiful rice terraces, thoroughly enjoyed watching the ducks at work each day. The rooms have no tv, but the views are much nicer to watch anyway! Lovely pool & garden. Woke up to a flask of hot tea each morning, lovely to sit on the balcony drinking tea while watching the sun come up. Easy walk to the Ubud markets & monkey forest. Really enjoyed this stay.

Nice place and pool, but byo towels and breakfast

The hotel itself is quite unique and authentic. I had an old duvet cover as my bottom sheet and a torn duvet on top. My mums room had nice clean sheets though. The towels were pretty threadbare and very old, didn't actually dry anything. The pool is great - deep and lovely and the surroundings are beautiful. I would not recommend the breakfast if you enjoy breakfast, but it might have just been bad luck. We didn't try it the second morning.

Great location, walking distance to everything.

Superior room, ground floor requested and given. Overlooking the rice fields was just perfect. Surprisingly quiet as just off a main road. Pool was very clean with enough sunbeds. All staff ready to respond to any request, and do everything to make your stay a good one. No kettle, but a flask of black tea is left daily. A request for a refill of boiling water was always fulfilled. Outdoor patio tiles are swept and washed early morning and night, in addition to daily clean. Easy access to pool via steps, not ladders. Pool towels available on request. Lovely peaceful 5 night stay. Staff walk their scooters in early morning and at night, to ensure your peace and quiet is not disturbed, a nice touch.

Wonderful guest house!

Kunang-Kunang was close to everything, but also quiet and peaceful - a little oasis in the bustling city of Ubud. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean. The pool was wonderful.

Great place to stay on a budget

Fantastic and easy check-in and check-out process when using Expedia (can't speak to doing it otherwise). Good breakfast cooked fresh. Wonderful location with a calming and serene backdrop of rice terraces in the middle of Ubud - only 5-10 mins walk in either direction to the central market and the Monkey Forest. Nice pool and very friendly staff.

Beautiful hotel and grounds...great location

We loved our stay. Our only disappointment was with the front desk....not friendly or helpful. Had to wait several hours before room was read.

Nice room, great location

Just an overnight, the location was great! Right in the middle of everything, great restaurants right across the street, right in the middle of the shopping district. I didn't get a chance to try out breakfast or the pool, but the room was nice. The owners weren't very happy or helpful.

Fantastisk guest house lidt gemt væk og alligevel så tæt på alt. Dejlige værelser uanset hvilke kategori man vælger dog er der ikke køleskab på standard værelserne. God morgenmad, og sødt personale. Vi kommer helt sikkert tilbage igen.

An Oasis in Ubud for only little money...

Just a wonderfull place to stay in Ubud. So quiet, big room and bathroom, and my big balcony, where I spend many hours..Every day new breakfast, every day room cleaned. Beautiful garden, nice pool, so friendly boss and not least The Staff 😍 Going to Bali 11 times only regret that I didnt find this Guest house earlier. VERY good valuable for the money..Breakfast only 30.000 rp..from jan24 this place will be called KunKun...

Relaxete en authentieke locatie in het hart van Ubud, maar weg van de drukte.

Hotellet er charmerende og hyggeligt, og personalet er meget venligt og hjælper (meget) gerne med transport og ture. Især var vi glade for udsigten over rismarken fra terrassen til vores værelse. Beliggenheden er super, helt central i Ubud. Værelsets stand var ikke super, og der var mange myrer/smådyr. Men alt i alt fint til pengene.

Ok hotel with a nice pool

From outside the hotel is really nice, especially the pool. From the inside the room was a bit worn, but ok if you think about the quite low price. I did stay only for one night but then the customer service was terrible. To give an example: on the day of the check out I left early for a meditation class and one of the workers run after me and felt me feel like a criminal when I explained that I will be back before the check out. I think they were mostly interested to get my money. The Wi-Fi did not really work in my room. The breakfast was good though.
