Cute courtyard. Lots of character. It’s a bit of a hike from the main square and San Blas. The return home was a bit brutal during the first few days when I hadn’t acclimatised well yet. But otherwise it is excellent value for money.
Nice. Clean and the staff was great ,is sheap but was great stayed there everything good
Friendly staff, nice hostel. Basic but good breakfast. Good amenities for the low price.
Nice, spartan accommodations that serve well as a launch pad for excursions outside of Cusco.
The place was well organized, the rooms were clean, comfy and organized. The staff was very helpful and professional, as well as kind. They assisted with recommended eateries, requesting rides and storing valuables. The area is also friendly. This hostel is a decently priced lodging for a humble stay at Cuzco.
Not good at all
Very thin walls and noisy when guests are there. Dingy and dirty. Pillows and bedding worn. They kept the front entrance locked and sometimes wouldn't answer to let me in for a long time.
It was a good location and quiet. The staff was excellent and helpful. Our only complaint was the 'tea and coffee' service- the water used was not purified and gave us gastro-intestinel problems. The breakfast was extremely basic, fresh fruit would have been nice.
We absolutely loved the location of the property. The employees were all very helpful and resourceful. Additionally, we loved the chilling area right outside the rooms, it was always very cozy and inviting. Never the less, the room we stayed at was very cold and the bathroom had no ventilation making it too uncomfortable for showers as all the items ended up wet inside the bathroom.
The hotel is wedged between two busy streets, traffic all night long with very little sound proofing. A small space heater was provided but it was very cold since the bathroom window pane was broken. Staff was great and the breakfast was good.
Nice staff, but most don’t speak English (no problem though as they’re very accommodating). Definitely gets cold, just ask for a heater. The walls are incredibly thin & it gets very noisy, just bring earplugs. Rooms are small but clean & have the basics. The whole place smells like cigarette smoke as people can smoke in the courtyard & they don’t offer laundry services anymore. A good place to stay & save $$
It was a pleasant stay at Cusi Wasi. Johanna was very kind with our family and helped us at all times with interesting and useful information of sites and things around the area during our stay. She always had a smile and very informative of the area. She recommended a great tour guide and driver, who went above and beyond our expectations. He made sure we had a great time while touring the Sacred Valley. Eder Gonzalito took us to all the circuit places associated with the Sacred Valkey and showed us the most traditional local places for eating, shopping and sightseeing. We definitely recommend them both to friends, family and any one visiting Cuzco.
Could do better for the money
Stayed there June 2018. Room was small, unappealing, very worn. Hot water was very slow. No redeeming qualities.
Stay away!
Dissapointed, it does not offer breakfast nor a shuttle, room was dirty, found a hair ball in one of the drawers. Had to keep requesting towels and toilet paper. After a long day wanted to rest a watch some T.V. but the front desk guy never found the remote control during our stay. Would never stay there again !
Great room and Rolf great receptionist
The upgrade in room was appreciated and Rolf the receptionist who speaks fluent English was a breath of fresh air the room was also a great improvement because it included a television and more space The included breakfast is also much appreciated Regards Paul
Old and pocky
Old property very small room and facilities very cheap
Perfect for a Cusco Holiday!
It was a great, cozy hostel, with a wonderful set of people. We had free breakfast, comfortable rooms, and all the required amenities. The coffee was fantastic and the staff were really friendly and polite. It is located very optimally - only about 10 minutes away from the central Plaza in Cusco, with beautiful surroundings. It is very easy to get anywhere in Cusco from here by taxi right outside the hostel. They even provide city tours, and tour packages for those who haven't booked in advance and are very helpful with information about Cusco city. They have very tasteful interiors and it is peaceful just to sit in their beautiful lobby and have some coffee or coca tea :) I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is going to Cusco for a vacation and needs a calm, beautiful place to stay and make their vacation that much perfect! Thank you!
Good Price - Great Place
Nice and quiet hostal pretty close to everything. The staff is very friendly. My room was a bit cold but they provide a ton of blankets and a plug in portable heater. Hot water in shower every time and toilet flushes well. I love the price as well. Great place.
Lovely spot, a quick walk into town and central bits of Cuzco and market, helpful staff, good breakfast and love the fact I can help myself to tea anytime. Hot water showers are always welcome too, I definitely would recommend this place to fellow travelers and friends. Quiet in the off peak season, although beers could be better priced
It was a tiny room but cimfortable with 24:/7 hot water and access to room
Useful and Clean
Overall it was good for what we used it for. Not much in terms amenities, but it was clean. Had some difficulty communicating with several staff members, but you will be fine if you speak decent Spanish.
Ok
The hostal was beautiful, but they have to clean their bathrooms better. There was a lot of mold do to humidity.
Wonderful Courtyard
Warm, colorful atmosphere. All the rooms are off of a central courtyard, which makes a great place to chill - like when I was sleeping off my jet lag in the room and my daughter needed somewhere quiet to finish a paper for school. Most of the time the courtyard was very quiet during our stay. The only time we heard any noise in our room from it was on a Saturday night. Our room with a private bath was basic and smallish, but had a closet w/ shelving for all our stuff, and the shower was nice and warm. Since rooms are off of the courtyard, it can get cold, but the in-room space heater works well, and there are thick wool (alpaca?) blankets on the beds. The heater in our room glowed, so if you're sensitive to light when sleeping, bring a sleep mask or a buff to use as one. It's about a 20-minute walk from Cusi Wasi to Cusco's main plaza - and it's a beautiful walk every step of the way with lots to see and do. The included breakfast was great - served in the courtyard - includes tons of bread, jam, coffee, tea, juice, and an egg cooked however you want it. The breakfast & cleaning staff couldn't have been any nicer or more accommodating. We were sometimes unsure of how things worked (e.g. times for breakfast, what to do when front door was locked, what the space heater was, hours/menu of the mysterious bar off the courtyard, etc.), so having a written handout for guests to explain the basics (in their language) would be helpful upon arrival.
Not good for non smokers
Not good for non-smokers. Hostal has a closed central living area surrounded by guest rooms where guests are allowed to smoke. Our room became filled with smoke and we could not open the windows to let the smoke out.
Nice hostel
Stayed here in June 2017. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is a 10 minute walk to the centre of town. Rustic. Nice family feel.
Great Value to Explore Cusco
This hostal was a great value online, so I was prepared to be disappointed in person; I wasn't. The staff was friendly, offering to arrange my taxi to Poroy and keeping tabs on my location to ensure my safety. The tea station was always well stocked, and I enjoyed several cups of mate de coca while relaxing in their covered atrium. Breakfast every morning was free and fantastic - fried eggs, ham, juice, tea, bread, jam and coffee. The rooms themselves were unassuming but clean and functional. I had hot water, fairly stable wifi, and a freshly made bed each evening. Its Cusco, so people wake up early and start making all kinds of noise, but my room was relatively quiet. The location (7? blocks from the Plaza de Armas) was super convenient. All in all, an amazing place that was comfortable, friendly, and helpful as I explored Cusco and the Sacred Valley.
Good price and just right for the traveler
This is a great place for the type of environment around Cusco's central district/plaza. I was initially worried about being right near the center of the forum, but, it's an old casona and that's their design. Yep, when the traveler's come in late or rise earlier you hear it, but, this is the environment and you're probably doing the same like I did. The staff are excellent. Always clean, helpful with suggestions and recommendations, and try to make you as comfortable as possible. It's near transportation and close to laundry and food establishments. Comfortable bed, daily service if you want. For what I was doing, it worked fine.and I got the rest I needed and the services I wanted. Good to stay and try to enjoy the festivities and sites.
nice staff
Very simple hotel, but staff were really helpful and friendly.
Rustic hotel near city center.
This hotel had a really nice breakfast and was within walking distance of the historic parts of Cusco. We never had to take a taxi to go out for dinner and felt safe in the area. However, it was missing some of the comforts that American travelers may expect. For example, it was unusually cold while we were there and the hotel did not have central heat. Also, there seemed to be some kind of mold growing on the wall. Overall, I would recommend it because it was a great value and seemed to be much nicer than some of the other similarly priced options.
It was a great place to stay. Very rustic look. Nice people. Clean room. Has a cool vibe. The little court yard was awesome. I enjoyed 4 days here with great service.
Affordable and nice
Ambient is cute. Person who checked me in was very helpful. We had one of our suitcases missing from another hostel we had stayed at and he helped by calling them and then helped us get a taxi to go get it. Room was clean but could use newer beds. We stayed in a room facing the street and it was very loud. Cars and dogs all night long. Breakfast was good and the let us stay a little longer while we waited for our transfer in the lobby. City square was about a 15 minute walk. Overall if it's just for 1 or 2 nights then I'd recommend it.
Great place , plan on returning next time in Cuzco . Very good value for the price ie $35 U.S. With breakfast and free wifi . Amazing staff at front desk , Renatoe & Rolfe Are both very accommodating and helpful ? Rooms are small , plenty hot water , tv, wifi worked well . Really liked the decor of common room with free tea available .
Helpful with our Machu Picchu tour!
Unfortunately, there was a strike with the train company that would take us to Machu Picchu. The staff did everything they could to fit us onto a train for the day before the strike. Thanks to them, we were still able to see Machu Picchu on time and have the next day to go on an amazing tour of Cusco, also arranged by the hotel staff.
It was a very nice place. The staff were friendly.
Good for what you pay.
We stayed for two nights which was just enough to get a feel for the local area. Main areas are in walking distance, about 10 minutes. On,y thing I did not like was you could hear people all over the hotel. Some people either checked in early or were up early & they were being loud and woke us up.
No frills but Great value
For $46 dollars a night this place was a steal! Friendly service, free breakfast, free wifi (although spotty at times) and hot shower. Only thing is it's 4 long quite blocks aware from the action (Plaza de Alma). I love to walk so I didn't mind. Also, I'm a heavy sleeper so even though the walls are very thin I didn't wake when people were talking outside my room. I wouldn't bring my wife here since she is particular it was a great value.
Great location and value for the money
Great value. However if you are going to pay with a credit card, the hotel will charge you 5% surcharge. Very friendly staff. Cusco historical district about 10 minutes walk.
Nice hotel, usefull for we need
We had what we need a comftable bed, clean bathroom and warm water to shower and a good breakfast.
Great Hotel, Greta staff, Internet was sometimes slow but staff really professional
Decent
Bed was comfy, rooms were a bit small. Warm under the covers and came with a heater. Shower had good pressure. A bit far from town, the walk back was quite long being uphill of the town centre Housekeeping was fine Breakfast was passable Wifi was pretty bad, cut out quite regularly We organised a private driver with the Dutch/German(?) guy that works there, and the driver was pretty great. Took us around all of the sites in the area surrounding cusco and dropped us off at Ollantaytambo. Stopped whenever we asked him to, was patient, friendly and fairly knowledgable. A bit more expensive, but watching all the tour buses rush around made us feel like it was worth it. The driver was called Italo (not sure about the spelling), highly recommend him.
Charming but noisy and unfriendly
This hotel was ok as a cheap option in Cusco. The hotel staff is not very friendly or welcoming. Another huge negative was the noise from other guests and the staff in the early hours.
Nice and helpful employees.
We were provided a free pick up from the bus station, staff are attentive and helpful. Breakfast is basic and wifi is difficult to access from the room. The hot water takes a while to come on and it could gets quite noisy at night and very early morning.
Great service including personalized pick up from the airport and breakfast every morning. The hotel staff gets going quite early in the morning and is a tad bid noisy. The hotel itself is a bit of a hIke from the historic downtown especially with altitude. Overall a good hotel.
Very nice hostel and personnel, close to main square and a wide variety of restaurants
Acceptable hostel
Acceptable hostel but has little privacy - with windows by the bed facing the main corridors. Good as a cheap option in quite a central location.
Great location near historical center of Cusco!
Great location relative to the historical center of Cusco; just 5 minute walk from the main squares. Friendly and helpful staff, able to arrange tours. Best if you can speak Spanish. Our particular room was a little run down (bubble under linoleum), but secure and comfortable. Rolf was extremely helpful. Free transfers from airport only counts for arrival-- we needed to get our own taxi back, but it only cost 10 soles.
Good hotel - got the basics right
The hotel was nice and clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was basic but ok. Room was decent size and clean but could do away with the table and chair to make more room
Great location
Close enough to the sites, far enough away to have some quiet
don’t stay here, last resource if you are desperat
the smallest room I’ve ever seen (and we saw 2 on in first floor the other 2nd ) no ventilation, washroom was so small Cleanliness: 2 worst thing: the bed sheets were so dirty, in the first room we got, the duvet had white spots all over it and looked so dirty, then the sheets were dirty with hair and other spots.. no nice at all… we complaint and they told us to get another one because it was too late to change the bed clothes.. ok we got another one… it was worst, with a bed all the way to the wall and tiny space between the bed and the tiny washroom.. we inspected the bed, were so dirty, brown, yellow and other spots all over.. we wanted to leave but it was 11pm and this place is in the middle of nowhere … so of course we complaint again and the guy in the from that I don’t remember his name but not polite at all gave us a clean linen, We used it in half one for the bottom and one of the top and we used an extra layer of our clothes to not use their bed clothes.. disgusting… Service: 4 everyone is not no very nice Location: 3 its 12-14 minutes walking from plaza de armas.. but you may be running so let say 8 min, cause u have to walk in very dark streets with a lot of dark houses Breakfast: 5 was good, except from the lady that was serving it, that seems she was angry.. Noise: 3 – you can hear the train up to 2am!! Its crazy, it seems its so close.. and upstairs movement when they moved us to the first floor.. you can hear all movement done by the people above you.
If clean is a must for you... stay somewhere else
It was unusual to have someone from the hotel pick you up at the airport and proceed to hire a taxi. I didn't know what was going on and felt uncomfortable specially when we took the back streets to get to the hotel. Upon my arrival, I had to have them assign me another roo bacause of the smell...sewer line stech not relieved by some burning incense next to the door. My next room had hair on the pillow and on the sheets, but I just kept it!!! I also felt uncomfortable when the night shift person smelled of having been drinking. That and not having a lot of guests, I just saw one couple, was eery. It was a lovely place, but in much need of LTC.

I booked it. Took a cab from airport. Then in the rain realized it was closed. Found a hotel near by. I don’t know what to think. Maybe it’s COVID. But it worked out with another hotel. It’s full of hotels. And it’s a great place to stay (Cusco). Enjoy
