Would not recommend.
Our room was smaller than expected, bathroom sink and shower wasn’t draining properly. Customers have to pay for their luggage to be stored is greedy! Bright note, the staff was friendly and it was in good walking radius of everything.
Overall great stay!! Would return
Stayed in a 6-bed private room - fantastic price and amazing location! Beds and pillows were comfy. Great activites in the hostel. Downsides were the 1. noise of the nightclub that takes place on a Friday night, it went on until 3am I think 2. The bathroom sink is in the middle of the room and not in the toilet, just makes it loud when you wash your hands in the middle of the night Overall a great stay and I would recommend it and return here!
Wonderful,wonderful Copenhagen
Very comfy bunk ,warm clean bedding .excellent value
Basic hostel hotel but central location. Good: Welcoming staff. Central location to the city attractions with transport close by if needed. Very quiet location - slept very well. Clean room. Great shower with instant warm water. Plugs by bed Not so good: Bed creaky. Bed sheet did not fit bed well and kept rolling up leaving the mattress exposed (mattress is plastic so doesn't feel good to sleep on when sheet has moved!) Corridors could do with better signs to lift (walked past the door to the lift several times before I found it!)
Great
The property was great for us as a family. We were busy all day and just needed somewhere to rest our heads and feet from all the walking we did. It would have been nice to have towels provided and being British, we’d have loved a kettle for making our own hot drinks. It was clean and warm, the shower was lovely and powerful, and the staff were accommodating. We were early for check in but they kindly offered us a different room which was ready. They warned that being directly above the bar it maybe noisy, especially as we were staying over the weekend, but it was not a problem for us at all.
Do not stay here if coming with kids!
Terrible experience, definitely not a great place for families, no towels in the room, beds were uncomfortable. Bathroom smelled like piss. This is for sure more of a backpacking trip hostel for college kids.
Clean the floor please.
Please , housekeeping need to do a better Job , the floor was really dirty
The room is small but clean, location is very convenient. The staff is friendly and accommodating.
Perfect for a one night stay!
Super clean and great staff!
Great hostel
This hostel had a nice vibe We booked a private room with washroom and room was nice comfortable clean and great value for money They also have cycles for rent which was so convinient for us to roam the city Doesn’t have dinner options but breakfast is available at property and staff was very helpful and good
We had a 14-hour overnight layover and didnt want to sleep at the airport. The hotels by the airport are insanely expensive but the trains run 24/7, so we decided to try this place out. It's quirky and has wonderful artwork/murals all around. It's so centrally located that we were able to absorb a LOT of the local flavor during just a 2 hour morning walk. Will definitely go back there and spend more time.
Worse we are not satisfied to much noise and bed bugs at the bed
Good location. Room with no air conditioning and windows that don’t fully open.
Few minutes walk to supermarket, restaurants, harbour front , metro, and main shopping streets. Great location
Maybe it was just by virtue of being in one of shared dormitory rooms, but it was so hot and stuffy that, even with all the windows open, it was difficult to sleep and often woke up dehydrated. The staff were very helpful, though
The Generator is a bare bones place to stay in a great location. An easy walk to everything! Pretty basic accommodation but perfectly clean.
Elevator won’t work, no soap in the dispenser, no air . No fan … had to email at 2 am to request fan…
great location
Centrally located. close to metro and the center. all walkable. Very cute hotel/hostel. Stayed in the superior twin room with bathroom. room was comfortable and clean.
There is a supermarket right in front of this hotel.

Bustling with People, Secure Building
The building was lovely and easy to locate. Check-in went very smooth and the room was a bit tight, but the roommates were friendly. The biggest issue was that there wasn't much room at all to access the lockers under the beds to get to your luggage. The shower was spacious, and separate from the toilet. There was a working elevator, and lots of activities going on at night for guests. Breakfast was delicious, and even though there were a lot of people going in and out, but I felt secure the entire time.
Expensive for what you get, great bar
Expensive for what you get. Cleanliness could be better, the wet room bathrooms are cheap and nasty and the bathroom cabinet was pretty scummy Great atmosphere in the bar areas. Would recommend if not intending to do anything other than sleep in the room.
Dilapidated college dorm
A dilapidated college dorm with a great location.
Nice hostel with laundry and a restaurant available. Too bad they charge so much for tiny towels. Elevator was big and nice family room. Way too hot. Needs air conditioning for summer.
The room facilities are too simple to live with. There is even no nightstand, no hand tower. The sheets are polyester and uncomfortable. There is no separation between shower and toilet. So after shower, there is water everywhere in the bathroom.
Really enjoyed my stay, close to the Metro and around all the pubs/shopping area. Clean room and great vibe to socialize
We booked a room with two beds and bathroom. The beddings and bathroom smelled bad. We woke up twice by strong toilet. A very terrible experience.
Great location! But charging for the locker to hold the luggages is inadequate!
Extremely dirty… everything is an additional cost, from towels, soap, storing luggage.., the owner is all about extracting as much money out of your stay as possible .. stay away
It was nice to have toilet, shower, and sink all separate areas. The room was too small , specially in the mornings bumping into each other and only one or two able to pull their lock box out! Also, many of the box lids would shut down when least expected due to broken “pressure shock absorbers”. I got niched on my forehead by one of them … yes there was blood!
Good location, price. Cramped, bad shower
This hotel was a good, low-cost option in a good location. We had a king room with private bath. It was small, with very little room to move around the bed and nowhere to leave suitcases open, but it worked OK. The wifi was reliable. The bar/restaurant on-site was convenient, and there were tons of food options around. The shower, however, was terrible. I didn't get a good shower for the several days we were there, because the temperature was so unpredictable. It wouldn't stay constant for more than maybe 45seconds.
Nice staff, not so nice rooms
The staff was amazing, friendly and helpful. We stayed in a bedroom with its own bedroom, but the bedroom was in terrible conditions. Ours got flooded and our luggage all the way to the other side of the room even got wet. It isn’t truly a barroom, it more of a toilet with a wisher where the water goes everywhere. I personally think that the money payed was both worth give the conditions of the place.
This is a hostel, but it’s a fairly comfortable and clean one. Service is fine, food is fine, but overall it’s a rather barebones experience. The bedding wasn’t great and the mattresses weren’t super comfy, but the location and overall convenience made it a solid stay.
Great for the price. Has lockers under the bed for your luggage. Shower and bathroom was very clean although our sink got clogged, it looked like a bottle cap got stuck in it and then our sink stopped draining day 2. Other than that was a good stay.
Nice
Expensive parking
Great location
Didn't find towel in bathroom or anywhere else.
Great location. Staff were all nice. There’s a bar on ground so bring earplugs if you’re having a night in.
We payed 210 dollars for a hotel and we got a youth hostel. There were no towels, there was a lot of music at night that we could hear from the room..we could not sleep for a long time. It is too expensive for what it was. The only thing that we like was the location.
Great hostel, nice room, large , right in the centre of Copenhagen
This is a huge hostel in a prime location, so you see all kinds of travellers. Despite the size, they only have one slow elevator, so it was very hard to catch it. They don’t store your luggage for you, so you have to pay to use the locker. Location was absolutely great, and the room for 6 people was a decent size. Friendly staff but the check-in process was too long—had to wait a very long time at 2 pm because everyone was checking in at the same time. No AC (like most European buildings), so we kept the window open the whole time.
Adequate
Average hotel in a good location just north of city center. Typical European room - small but okfor two. Somewhat on the noisy side between rooms and from street with windows open.
The room got too hot on summer and there was no way to cool it down. Windows are big but they just barely open
Not a great place. Tiny rooms, zero view, from dirty windows that didn’t open, no towels or pillow cases in the room, breakfast poor quality and poor value.
Grat location, over all adequate hotel. Had loud Tecno music playing until 1am. Elevator didn't work.
The location was great and a quick walk to Nyhavn. Plenty of bars and restaurants around. The room was sooooo hot it was a struggle to sleep. There was a fan in the room but this wasn’t found until day 2 as it was hidden behind a curtain, although the fan didn’t make too much of a difference. Cannot comment on breakfast as we didn’t have it. Staff were great, happy and efficient, apart from one staff member we encountered who was a little curt….maybe having a bad day! We wouldn’t stay here again only due to how hot the room was but the rest of the facilities and location were great
Where do I start. The only good thing about this hostel is the location. Elevators- 1 and slow af. No comfortable areas indoors to sit. I dont think 2 chairs in the lobby constitutes comfy lounging. The patio is nice but closes at 10 so you're forced to endure the noise of the bar or sit in your room. Sometimes you dont want to be in either location. Housekeeping was awful. My friend stayed 5 nights and had her sheets changed the night before she checked out. What is the point of that? I stayed a week and had to do it myself because housekeeping didnt and I was sick and didnt want gross sick sheets. Also never washed the floor or swept. Ive worked housekeeping in suite hotels. Hostels are beyond easy to clean when youre not even making the bed. The lack of effort is abysmal. Music also excessively loud till 1/2am. I get its a hostel but have some consideration. Dublins generator loud music stops at 11. It's much more peaceful. People are paying to be able to sleep at some point. Overall, never again.
I especially appreciate that the was a bar inside the hostell wnd the staff was very friendly
Basic and clean.
Great location.Clean and safe environment
Super clean place and great staff! Situated in a convenient location in vicinity of a lot of great sights!
Central location
Great location, unfortunately beds and pillows not very comfortable. Can be challenging with the noise from the bar to sleep but location really is amazing.
Good
good location, convenient for solo travelers
A difficult stay
well asee tried to stay pone more night they shoot up the price more than double And we asks one of the cleaning guys to open the door of the room to take our bags he unpolited refuse to do so we had to go to reception and go up again Breakfast was expensive and not great
Great place to party, but don't expect to sleep
I am a middle-aged solo traveler who needed a budget option for 4 nights in Copenhagen in late November 2022. My trip was somewhat last minute so options were very limited and Copenhagen is a very expensive city. After much hesitation I booked a Thursday to Monday stay at Generator, as it was the only place within my budget. Although I haven't stayed at a hostel in over a decade I had a provide room so I figured I could tolerate it for 4 nights. It was a mistake. There is a bar/night club literally INSIDE the hostel. On Friday and Saturday nights the noise is INTOLERABLE. You can barely hear yourself think; the walls are literally shaking from the noise. It lasts until about 2 am. I actually had to go for a walk because I was feeling like a prisoner in my room. If you are a young person who is going to party hard in Copenhagen for a weekend, then this is the place for you. But I cannot recommend it for any other type of traveler; at least not for a weekend stay (on Thursday the noise was tolerable and on Sunday it was quiet). The shame is that otherwise the hostel was totally fine and what I expected for a 2-star accommodation. But when I book a room, I expect to be able to sleep. If that can't happen because someone decided to put a night club INSIDE the hotel, it cancels out all the positives. Also, a small but annoying detail: they don't offer complimentary baggage storage on your check-out day. You have to rent a locker. I thought that was tacky.
Good for one night
Dorm rooms are very hot and stuffy, with a bad smell. Staff was personable and friendly.
Perfect budget stay.
If you’re looking for a good budget option for Copenhagen then this place is perfect. First of all the staff are really friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious enough for a hostel and the shower was very nice. As for the rest of the place it has a fantastic bar area where you could watch all the sports and soak up a great atmosphere, especially at weekends. Happy hour prices were also very good. The fact that it was also so close to all the major things worth seeing was a bonus. All in all for the money a great stay. Would definitely recommend.
This was such a nice place to stay during our 19 hour layover in Copenhagen! It was just a few minutes walk away from the metro station to drop off our bags in our room and then go explore the city by foot! The room was small as pictured but that was no problem at all for us and it was very clean! We enjoyed the ease with this stay.
Good Stay. Friendly and helpful staff especially the nightshift ones.
An awful experience.
My stay at this hotel/hostel was very bad. Even though I got my own private room with a Queen bed and private bath, I did not enjoy staying there. Although the hostel in general looked good, clean and fairly modern, this did not help me to feel comfortable here. The elevators are super old, slow, crappy and dirty inside, plus, stinky. The floors where the rooms were located did not seem clean either. It felt dusty and a little bit outdated. Once I checked a public restroom on my floor, and it looked pretty bad too. The room I got was very small, its design was basic, maybe a little bit stylish, but everything looked clean and good there. One of the biggest things I hated was no closet to put/hang my clothes. There were a few hangers on the wall, but they were not enough to hang many pieces of clothing. The bed was super hard and uncomfortable, the pillows were awful and uncomfortable too. The biggest thing I hated was no air conditioner in my room! There was a little fan in the room, but its power was not enough to cool down the room. The bathroom in my room was tiny. There was no actual shower stall, the water went just on the floor, and the floor all over bathroom was wet all the time. The sink in the bathroom was super small, I had a very hard time using it to wash my hands or clean my teeth. The bathroom amenities were of an okay quality and smelled fine, but I still used my own. Another issue with my room was bad soundproofing. Wi-Fi was working pretty slow.
Cozy & Convenient
Really good experience. Everyone stays here, from full family reunions to solo travelers. Very convenient option both price and location. The staff is amazing, especially the gentleman that runs the tasty breakfast service. Very clean Hostel. People from around the world make great entertainment. Please research “hostel life” before staying. It can be a bit loud if you are a lite sleeper, bring ear plugs anytime you stay in Hostels.
The things that were outstanding for this property were the entertainment in the bar, the convenient location, friendliness of the staff, cleanliness, food in the enormous number of restaurants and cafes in the area, and the safety of the area.
The staff and the communal facilities were brilliant. However, when it came to the room it was incredibly hot, which meant we had to have the windows open all night. We were then woken up at 6am to roadworks right outside the hostel and the acrid smell of burning plastics. I understand that this out of the control of the hostel but there was no effort to make the experience more pleasant by the offer of ear plugs or simply asking how we slept. Also on the weekend the music from the youth hostel and local clubs was so loud, late into the night, that we could feel the vibrations in our room. Which of course made it difficult to sleep.
.
Once you pay you are stuck The room and the hall smell Without AC Room can barely fit 2 people they put 8 people without AC You suffocate
Very nice and the stuff very kind
Great downtown location. Small room, but had everything you needed for 2 nights.
Party time
Generator is excellent for the younger crowd. The rooms are equipped with just the essentials. The best thing about the place was the bar and game room. If you’re up for partying all night this is the place for you.
This hostel is located right in the center, close to many bars. There is also a bar in the building, so it’s not quiet (especially not on weekends). I stayed in a room with private bathroom. Room was clean, but didn’t get cleaned during our three-day stay. The room was small but that was okay. I used the online check in which worked well. Would only stay here if you’re young though.
Super friendly staff and great location. Fun decor in rooms, not dirty but could be cleaner
The bathrooms were never clean. The restaurant was over priced. The location was great, beds were comfortable. The main concern is not clean.
Great location, great bar & restaurant, great staff. Will definitely consider staying here again if I return to Copenhagen in the future. One tip, ask for a high floor room for less noise at night!
Need more TP for an 8 person room. It's also insanely hot in the property with no AC or fans
NOT for families
Nos: 1.wired rooms location (like a labyrinth) 2.not so pleasant personal at the reception 3.too much noise from outside (music & screams) 4.no air conditioner 5.little room space Pros: 1.cheap hotel 2.central hotel location, with easy access 3.easy checkout 4.lockers in several sizes for rent
Wonderful 🎼wonderful 🎼Copenhagen!!!
Loved the location the staff was great we rented bikes from them! The only problem we had was the Wifi did not work in our room so we had to go Down stairs anytime we needed to use the Interenet which was a lot for traveling. Loved the atmosphere and having games and bar and restaurant on main floor was awesome !
love it but would love kitchen
we loved our stay, although we would've liked to have been able to use a kitchen
Good and very clean.. Very good prepared for Covid-19.
Had a few days where our room didn’t have soap which was an issue but I just went to other bathrooms that did. Beds very comfortable. Rooms could be noisy from noise outside but personally this didn’t bother me. Very good value for money
As good as a basic hotel but half the price. Really central, lovely and warm. Clean. Would have liked a bath mat and to be able to make a cup of tea but that’s cause I’m British!
Very convenient for city centre. Hired a cheap bike from them too
Awesome location great hostel
Only problems the room is a bit small, except it everything is great. Location is awesome
I really enjoyed my days at Generator. I met amazing friends all over the world. The beers and food were really good. The live music was very good. The singer played my favorite songs. I definitely, I will come back soon.
Great hostel, the location was perfect, the staff were friendly and it was clean and tidy. The only problem was the noise. This is obviously to be expected in a hostel in a busy, lively area however the windows kept no noise out whatsover and it was difficult to sleep. We had a private room and had no other complaints, perfect in every other way!
The bathroom light was activated by a motion sensor and turned off within 5 seconds so it was nice going to the toilet in the pitch black. Otherwise the room and facilities were okay
and convenient but locker can use some upgrade
Love the place but a little difficult to walk around the room coz beds are to near to each other and the under bed locker is not convenient as its not so easy to open, takes to much place for such a tiny walk way and makes noise if you need to wake up super early or come back late. But overall amazing experience
Very nice cafeteria/restaurant They charge for the towels but it doesn't say that on the ad that you find in the room
Solo travel
The location was great
Blissful stay .. strongly recommend
I was first time staying in a hostel in Europe.. most of the travel reviews suggested this place.. I booked it and it turned out to be a blissful stay.. starting from the check-in to rooms and bar to restaurant.. everything was more than what I expected out of a hostel.. 24*7 reception and very friendly staff...beds are pillows were near and clean.. night club was good and there is billiards, fuzzball and shuffle board.. very close to Central and you can cover most of the nice places by walk... I strongly recommend..have a good time guys.. Cheers .. Thanks for Hotels.com app to make this very easy and quick..kudos to you guys👍
On the second floor , we heard too much the music for the bar
Friendly staff. Bathrooms in common areas were always really dirty.
Central to the city, 5 mins to the metro, staff was friendly, hostel was clean and big.
Clean, very friendly staff. But beds so uncomfortable, rough and noisy sheets every time you move they make that horrible sound. Toilet paper not filled up for a whole 24hrs! Burger from bar made me ill. Lacked a relaxed sociable vibe for solo travellers. Overpriced, didn’t get much sleep.
Wonderful stay!
Great hotel/hostel in the center of the city
This is a hostel. Not “was a hostel” as description said. Very noisy. Dirty. Curtains has weird marks. Floors were gross. You will need to rent towels and bring your own toiletries. Not good for families.

Appreciate this was a budget stay but I still expect the room to be clean, which it really wasn’t. The bed was covered in hair and the floor felt really dirty under foot. Would suit backpackers / students more so than families / couples
