Room was fine. Everything worked and there was an iron and ironing board. Strange breakfast left in a basket outside the room the night before. Had croissants that had been out all night but interestingly, bowls with packets of cereal but no milk. No milk for tea or coffee either. No real issues but not worth £100 a night.
Disappointing - we left and booked somewhere else
Not a great start as staff didn't know we were arriving. Rooms are accessed through untidy back area of the pub. Our room was freezing and not prepared for arrival, but was clean. Parking is an issue - there isn't any, so you need to park near the common as nearby it is permit parking. Wimbeldon Village is a long walk and side passage to room is dark and filled with pub material. Corridor immediatley outside our room absolutely stank - we had to hold our breath! Ultimately, we decided not to stay here, and paid for another room in Wimbeldon Village instead.
Lovely stay. Breakfast a great touch.
The rooms are located above the pub on a quiet street near to two golf courses. Check-in happened at the bar with friendly staff and we were shown up to our rooms from there. This hotel does not accept American Express, in case you chose the ‘pay at property’ option. Both rooms were clean and well-decorated, one had a little terrace. I’m not sure the rates matched the rooms however, but we booked here for convenience because we were attending an event nearby.
Lovely place to stay near the Common. Clean quite comfortable with everything you’d need. Dinner downstairs is so convenient and they provide a lovely hamper for breakfast.
Lovely special accommodation.
A perfect place to rest after a busy day at Wimbledon. Free parking near. Rooms are named after Wombles! Restaurant food delish, service excellent…. Breakfast hamper is a nice touch
Lovely pub, lovely room, lovely food, will definitely be returning
Tastefully decorated and comfortable
My husband and I stayed for one night and loved our stay. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by staff at the bar. We had 4 suitcases and in no time we had 4 different male staff members taking our luggage up one flight of steep stairs to our room. Later when we went downstairs to the bar we were made to feel very welcome. Couldn’t fault this property. Thank you.
Lovely room, very quiet and comfortable.Really appreciated the breakfast hamper in the morning. Would definitely stay here again.
Excellent location in a green area inside London. Old building partially modernised but very importantly, it is clean! Disappointing was not being able to sit in the pubs restaurant area and have a nice warm English breakfast! Overall good stay with many improvement opotunities.
this is an excellent little Inn. Service very personal and very good.
Classy gastro pub
A charming hotel located in prime position, literally on the edge of Wimbledon Common. Classy decor, warm and welcoming service coupled with a cosy and welcoming restaurant and bar area, this place takes a lot of beating. One minor note of caution however - the property is marketed as having free parking - this is in the case, there are only 2 spaces outside the front of the hotel and they come with restrictions. In our case, the manager went above and beyond by going out of his way to purchase and display a parking ticket for our car. Excellent job all round.
Great food but slipped on detail on accomodation
Food was great and service very nice but little details let them down such as: a muddy floor on way to upstairs; inability to give us any breakfast before 8.00; no breakfast tea or more than one coffee pod in bedroom; no info in bedroom nor anyone to contact so couldn’t work out the heating or find a Wi-fi code. The quilt was a summer one and the pillows shallow. Wouldn’t need much to make this place exceptional but someone needs to get a grip on the detail.
I think this was the best customer service I have ever received at a hotel from start to finish and I stay in lots of hotels with my work
Bedside tables were dirty, had to wipe them down. No milk for tea and a coffee machine with no instructions
Can’t Recommend Highly Enough!
This was an incredible experience and a fantastic place to stay, eat and enjoy time in London. I would HOGHLY recommend Fox and Grapes to everyone going to London!
The room was nice but outside was very noisey. Breakfast was offered as free which appealed to me as I was up early for a course locally, however breakfast wasn't served until 09:00, which was too late for me. Free parking was advertised also but meter fee was needed. On the whole, the hotel was nice, the pub looked really lovely. Even some fruit / cereal accessible for the morning would have made the no breakfast more manageable.
It’s not a 5 star hotel but it is a 5 star pub/hotel. Wonderful helpful staff, room, and food, and isolated enough in Wimbledon to be quiet yet it was only a 11 minute walk across the commons to a great restaurant. The AC was slightly noisy as it cycled but completely worth it in the heat. Parking coupons made parking very easy.
Location good, staff OK, parking difficult. Reasonable size room, bathroom could do with being refurbished, v small patio mentioned as a plus but dirty and full of dead leaves. Very noisy air conditioning unit. Access to bedrooms via stairs sharing with staff accessing kitchen and store rooms smelly and in dire need of repainting. Breakfast very poor, in fact a disgrace.
Great inn for a Unique stay. Small but comfortable room. Staff was great!
Wimbledon trip
Fab little place friendly staff and good food we had been at tennis all day & arrived at pub/hotel with a warm welcome & a cosy atmosphere!
Very nice pub with good accommodation. Ideal location for Wimbledon tennis.
It was in a good location nice and quiet... the food was amazing and Sarah very friendly
Lovely property. Amazing staff. Delicious food. Free parking... Super!
Overall really nice stay. Staff was very friendly, accommodating and professional. Room was nice and clean; great to have a nice coffee machine in the room. Mattress was a bit too soft for my liking.
Well maintained nice location great for Wimbledon Common. Bring your eye mask and ear plugs - the pub sign creaks when it is windy - the rooms are above a pub/restaurant so noisy till closing - quite a lot of traffic drives past in the morning as people go for a walk and the blinds let in a lot of light. Staff are friendly but you don’t really feel “looked after”.
Excellent friendly service from the team, and very responsive
Great pub!!
Great pub, great food, great room, outstanding customer service, a thoroughly enjoyable stay
Perfect Little Place To Stay!
Perfect place to stay, restaurant just downstairs, perfect gastro pub style food, we had Steak and the Fish, we are fussy about our food but it was spot on, really nice atmosphere and staff are really helpful and friendly, wouldn’t hesitate in booking again.
This is my third stay
I have now stayed in each of the three rooms and can honestly say they are equally comfortable, clean and cosy. The facilities are very good, with plenty of mineral water and a nespresso coffee maker. There was a little lack of detail in the tea on offer (no English breakfast tea, when we went down for breakfast for example). My colleague had to go and fetch milk for both of our rooms. There is a nice touch in the cookies they leave in each room. The restaurant serves lovely food but be aware of the. OST of a full bottle of wine. It is rather overpriced, but perhaps that’s Wimbledon prices. It is very nicely situated and very comfortable
We were really impressed with the helpfulness of the staff.
Wombling by Wimbledon Common
Accommodation was ideally located next to Wimbledon Common for walking and a short stroll from Wimbledon Village which has nice shops and cafes. The room was small but perfectly proportioned with its own air conditioning and a Nespresso coffeemaker. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The restaurant served amazing food and the staff were friendly. In short a perfect place to stay.
Great food
Great hotel on the edge of Wimbledon Common. A little off the beaten track if you aren't familiar with the area. The food was absolutely fabulous, as was the ambience in the bar/restaurant. Room (named after Womble Characters) was clean and spacious. Good choice of teas and freshly made biscuits. The included continental breakfast was good and ample
Only a few rooms and on the Common, nice and quiet for a pub. Very clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast is included, but full cooked breakfast available for charge.
Quiet, comfortable, friendly pub on the Common :)
I usually avoid staying in pub accommodation mainly because they are often noisy but the Fox and Grapes was very quiet. It is situated on a quiet street at the far side of Wimbledon Common but within Few minutes walk of Wimbledon Village where you will easily find food to suit your mood (Italian, Thai, Indian, Chinese, pub food etc.) You could of course also eat in the bar which has typical gastro-pub fare. The menu is notvextensive but adequate and the quality is very good. It is however, , as with all gastr-pubs, a little on the expensive side. My room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable: double bed, television, table and chair plus tea, coffee and biscuits. The ensuite shower room (no bath but not a big deal for me) was spotlessly clean and the usual shower gel, shampoo and moisturising cream supplied. Rooms are cutely named after the Wombles, I was with Madam Cholet. Continental breakfast comes with the room and available from 8:00am which was a little late for me as I had to leave at 7:00 but I mentioned this in the evening and was offered a breakfast basket outside my door in the morning. This I accepted and so had croissant, cereals, orange juice and jams as soon as I awoke and really appreciated. I seldom write more than a couple of lines in a review so apologies for the essay but the fox and Grapes and her staff deserve more.! Four stars from me :)
Uncomfortable bed and the ac kept waking me every 20 minutes even when it was off and dripping water into the bed. Breakfast was palatable.
Great option for south London.
Excellent place. Great value, good food and friendly staff.
Very pleasant suited all needs
The room was well decorated but rather small. The service at breakfast was very poor. When I arrived downstairs there was no-one to ask where the breakfast was. I asked a member of staff that looked like the cleaner and she wasn't much help. Basically I ended up just eating what was on the table which was an individual pack of cereal! For £112.50 a night with Continental breakfast included, I think this was very poor.
Dead plants on the patio?
I had a mixed experience at this small hotel. The neighborhood is lovely and I thought the breakfast, which I've seen several negative reviews of was fine. The bathroom was spacious, which I appreciated, and the room had a really nice and relaxing, and private, patio. But on the patio were two obviously dead large potted plants/shrubs with their dried up brown leaves scattered around the kind of grimy looking patio space. How does that happen? Looked like maybe nobody had stayed in that room for a few days but don't you check the room/patio before a new guest arrives? Also, was given no informatoon about room features by the young gentleman who showed me to the room. He appeared to be a restaurant worker--there was no specific place to check in or talk to the proprietors from what I saw--the restaurant staff just handled things. This became an issue when I needed the WiFi code but couldn't find it in the room. The restaurant was closed but there was no one else to ask. Also could not find the AC at first, although eventually figured out it was on the wall above the bed, which is a first in my experience. Also only found the USB charging port by accident, which I also really needed since I didn't have UK electric adaptor since only there for one night. In other words, some sort obviously positioned info sheet would have nice (including TV channel list). Room was OK but furnished in budget IKEA style-- would expect more from this sort of lodging.
Perfect Spot
Wonderful place with perfect location and excellent restaurant. Check in was easy.
Lovely inn/hotel on Wimbledon Common.
A lovely, quiet and scenic place to stay. A short walk from the 'town', across the common. Very pretty and comfortable and includes aircon in the room. Clean. Staff were lovely. Very comfortable
Handy for Wimbledon
Good location due to proximity to Wimbledon, however, the 1st night little sleep due to fault in the music system , which switched itself on automatically at 4am ( and didn't stop till 7am!). Irish girl very apologetic, however the manager had a very poor attitude - some-what surly. Room comfy though only a shower and, the blind was dirty and see though, so could do with replacing. Basic food .
Recommended
Don't usually stay in "inns" but this was a nice experience. Very friendly people. Room was nice with good linens and towels, free mineral water, decent tea / coffee tray. Continental breakfast was very basic (cereal, jam, not offered any bread) but the hot options were nice. Service for breakfast and checkout wasn't as good as the checkin experience but nothing to really complain about. Lovely location visually but a bit out the way for public transport other than the 93 bus. This is fine in daylight but it's quite a walk in the dark at night.
A lovely room and the breakfast was delicious! Great service!
Located near Wimbledon - at the top of the hill
Be prepared for a workout if you get off at South Wimbledon or Wimbledon stations. There is a big hill especially if carrying a back pack and - unfit 😬. Very central, excellent pub, dog friendly, good food and character.
Short stay
The place is lovely and the staff for lunch and evenings were very friendly. Breakfast waitress was a little unhelpful and grumpy. Room and facilities are suitable. Mattress in the room was extremely poor you could feel the wood or frame underneath .
Great stay
Comfortable, warm, hospitable pub/hotel. One of the best overnight stays we've had in a long while. Would recommend to anyone.
Wouldn’t return
Lovely location, tatty uncomfortable bedrooms and an appalling continental breakfast offering. Expected much more than a box of shreddies...
Really nice place to stay, clean quiet and comfy and the food in the restaurant was superb. Will be staying here again
Wonderful hotel near london
We were going to the Albert hall and my wife hates London so a hotel on Wimbledon common was ideal just 7 miles to the Albert hall 50mins in car . Staff were friendly room wasn't huge but big enough nice ensuite with fantastic toiletries and Nespresso type coffee machine a huge selection of teas Inc fruit ones and hot chocolate drink as well.complimentary water still and fizzy and some homemade biscuits. Only downside we booked a table on line for 5 but kitchen didn't open till six. Continental breakfast was good and Inc. Will definitely stay again when going to a show in london
1st class staff and comfortable room
Outstanding warm, welcoming service! I booked late in the evening as I was working late in the area, I rang ahead and they asked the chefs to stay on later once I explained my situation. They put some snacks on for me, a dessert and a few nice ales to wash down with. Staff were very warm and welcoming and served on me most of the time I was down stairs. I was shown to my room which was clean, modern and great condiments. Shower was lovely after a hard day on site. Only down fall was an inch gap on bottom of the door which let the hallway light shine through when the room was dark. Other than that a fantastic stay and that you to all of the staff for catering to my needs!
Very nice small hotel with a great pub.
Nice small but comfortable rooms. Wifi is so-so depending where in the hotel you are but generally sufficient. Staff are excellent and food in the bar outstanding. Continental breakfast was good but the cooked breakfast (additional charge) was outstanding. Highly recommend it.
Great Stay for Business or pleasure
Very enjoyable stay. Easy to find and wonderful area.Quality of the room & Eve meal/Breakfast was excellent and the free and importantly the fairly quick wifi and desk in the room as a business traveller is essential. An earlier start time for breakfast would be beneficial - say 7.30am, as 8am could be a little late for some Business travellers. Only 10 mins walk from Wimbledon Village. Importantly, I would definitely stay again
A welcome find
We have stayed at the hotel around the corner the Du Vin they were fully booked so we tried the Fox and Grapes. We were not disappointed the room was a little small but all in all an excellent stay. We had dinner and breakfast which we would highly recommend. The food is not usual pub prices but better than the usual pub cuisine.
Lovely room above a pub - stylish decor.
Lovely room above a pub, very nice decor, free bottles of water in the room. We ate in the restaurant here (20% off food bill if you are staying) and we all really enjoyed the food and wine. Very friendly service too. Nice continental breakfast - tropical fruit salad, croissant, toast, fruit juice and cereal. Very good. Room was a bit noisy at night as it was at the front of the pub and very close to the road.
Lovely pub, great staff
Stay was great - excellent service and very friendly and helpful staff. Just an issue with a noise from an air conditioner that we finally resolved by turning it off at the mains. Staff very helpful in trying to sort it out.
Hotel OK but VFM poor
The hotel was good but they were making the most of the fact that it was the Wimbledon Championships which meant that the value for money was extremely poor - and would have been even worse had the error in charging not been realised.
pub on the common
Good pub. Good location
Quaint, Hotel, great facilities, EXCELLENT staff.
Loved our stay in the zenglish country pub. Extremely quite, country views, horses being ridden on the street, kids walking to school happily passing the hotel, rooms were a good size, large bathroom, easy tube and overland rail to the city. We would recommend and stay again!
Gastro pub with rooms above - very cute.
A little oasis just off Wimbledon Common. It's essentially a gastro pub with three (I think) rooms above. Young, charming staff. Room was very stuffy but it was exceptionally warm weather, with retro-fitted air conditioning which worked but a little noisy. No hesitation to stay here again if in the area.
Great food, great beer, comfy room
Had a very enjoyable stay, the rooms are charming. Excellent food and friendly staff.
Great room, location and staff.
My husband and I were at the end of a comprehensive trip to Britain and wanted to buzz into London for a day before we left (25 minute Tube ride after a brisk 15 minute walk)...we stayed at the Fox and Grape and found it a great "outside London" location. The room was very comfortable and the food available in the evenings after our touring was creative and well made. Staff at the Fox and Grape were very helpful, getting us directions and setting our continental breakfast outside our room door...we left before official breakfast. Room had A/C. Beautiful green belt/park to walk, run or just sit on a bench very nearby. Very reasonably priced for the exceptional service near London. WiFi was great as well...
Nice friendly hotel
Everything was great about this place except that the continental breakfast was not ready at 8am as advertised. The waitress did eventually get us fruit and toast but this seemed to be a imposition. The fruit and toast were beautifully presented but the toast was rock hard. They should realise that even 8am for breakfast is late by B&B standards (cooked breakfast not available until 8:30). If they can sort out their breakfast offering this would be 5 stars.
F&G - a little gem
I had a wonderful stay. The staff especially deserve a special mention for their warm welcome and helpful attitude. One got the impression that the staff loved working at the F&G- it is a super place to be. I found it a really good experience and would love to go back there whenever I am in London. The food is excellent too.
Good place to stay and shop at Wimbledon village. Very nice staff.
Fantastic little English pub
Fantastic stay here. The horses walking down the street added to the charm. It was hard to believe we were so close to London. The staff could not have tried harder to please the guests. Fantastic stay
Lovely stay
Great room with good shower room. Staff all very friendly and welcoming. On the edge of Wimbledon Common, in the Village area. Lots to do and places to eat.
Convenient for Wimbledon Common and Village
Friendly and efficient welcome, great food (fitted us in even though we had not booked on a bust Saturday night), very convenient for Wimbledon Common and Village, convenient parking right outside (street parking), room and en-suite spotless clean (a little small but adequate for our needs and as expected for the price)
delightful
a charming hotel in the English country tradition with a particularly helpful staff. excellent dining room.
Wimbeldon
The Fox and Grapes is apub and access to the room was at the back near the kitchen and was not very clean and the area was in need of smartening up . Also access was difficult with storage of bear barrels and food .
Overnight stay.
Stayed there whilst attending a wedding and was just lovely. Staff very helpful & Manager could not do enough for us so just the place to stay when in Wimbledon.

"It's an okay place located in a good area of Wimbledon. The staffs is friendly. My only constructive criticism is that they should pay more attention to cleanliness. In my opinion, it's not just about tidying the bed, but also giving a good clean inside and outside the room."
