Good that it is near to train station. Service at desk, very slow. Maybe overloaded. Hostel expensive for what is received.
Ok
Very noisy outside
It was noisy outside until morning, it was uncomfortable, and I couldn't sleep.
Not a safe place to stay in
Good location in the centre closed to everything, clean and friendly.
All good
This the worst place I ever stayed. I didn’t even sleep in the room. I waited in the lobby until it was time to leave for my flight. I didn’t feel comfortable but the three young men in the room were friendly.
being next to the train station is convenient but it's a shady area that you wouldn't want to be in
Good experience
My overall experience was very good with the hostel. The room was nice, bed was nice and clean and was provided fresh linens for it. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Room was clean as well as the bathrooms. The breakfast was nice
The proximity to the main train station is great. The place is great with an awesome vibe, the neighborhood no so good though.
Stayed here 2 nights. We had a great time the first day, no issues. On our second night we were getting ready for bed and found around 10 bed bugs in both beds. Went to the front desk and was told they were all booked up and since it was night shift they couldn’t refund us. They gave us no alternatives so we had to sleep on the floor. The next morning the staff was very remorseful and gave us a refund for our stay. If it was not for the bed bugs we would have had an amazing time.
The (short) walk from the train station to the hostel was a little concerning, but the hostel is very safe, clean, and friendly.
I book the top floor, for a single room. People stay at dorm bed will come to the top floor, use its space for playing guitar, personal stuff without permission. In the middle of the night, 12:15 am, someone will break in my own. I told the staff, they did not think it was a big deal.
Budget hostel and thats what get for what you pay; staff could be a little bit polite and welcoming. Personal observation is that, rooms lack ventilation (no windows) to hel air circulation and so, I couldn't sleep inside my alotted room.
I liked the amenities. Tea, coffee, board games, breakfast. All of it was good.
The hostel was clean, the staff was friendly, and I had a nice interaction with other travelers there. The location, though conveniently close to the main train station, is the red light district and gets quite dirty on Saturday night. But I, a man, nevertheless felt safe walking to and from the hostel even at night.
Good accommodation
Really good location in relation to Frankfurt Station
Good service, not good neighbourhood
I decided to stay in the hostel at the last minute. The reception was very comprehensive and gave me 2 hours earlier check-in. The locker provided was safe. Lack of air-conditioning system (it was quite hot in Frankfurt). The area where the hostel is located has lots of drug users, which makes me feel unsafe. Although it's well located (the heart of the city centre)
Close to hbf, average stay
Stay was ok, just one night with my brother. We knew about the location being in the red light district, not an issue since we chose this for the proximity to the hbf. The staff that checked us in was not friendly at all, smiled at the two guest ahead of us and when it was our turn she was dull and expressionless. The bathrooms and showers were shared and were in an ok condition, just like at a dormitory at school. We had a private room and I’m glad I booked that for the privacy.
The room had a bad smell of feet. The area around the hostel is very sketchy.
Everything good
fun stay
nice stay but make sure you know about the locality.
Nice hostel with good location.
Nice hotel and welcoming hostel 3 mins from Frankfurt train station also just by the red lights district area. At first the surrounding areas and people looks bit scary or intimidating but to be honest they just mind their own businesses. Great location and good value for Money also they provide breakfast which is bonus 😊
Great place! Amazing staff, kitchen, bar, beds…absolutely nothing to complain! The breakfast is better than much hotels. GREAT PLACE!
I had an amazing stay at Five Elements. Though they say they are in the red light district, I had no issues with the neighborhood. I met some fun travelers while there. The staff was amazing and attentive. I highly recommend staying here!
Priv Room
Tried this style of room, as none of shared rooms showed during time of booking. Obviously something wrong, had lots is shared avail. Room is huge and quiet. Might take it again.
Appreciate the efforts by the staff to ensure the property is safe.
I liked everything especially breakfast, I was surprised to see that they left until noon, and always put fresh coffee, tea and bread free, are generous. For sure I will came back Thank you
The best hostel I have stayed at in Europe! The staff are friendly and the bar is great even when it’s not happy hour.
Was ok. But very hot in summer, like 5 degrees more than outside always. There was an old AC in the room but didn’t worked. If you don’t go on summer should be fine.
The overall atmosphere was nice at the hostel. However the bed mattress and room ceiling are very dirty. I was on the top bunk and later at the end of the next day I discovered there was bed buds bites on my back! I have travelled a lot and know what a bed bud bite looks like. I am willing to supply photo if needed. I am very disappointed despite reading good reviews. I also booked another night before I leave the city in a few days. I am not sure if I can cancelled that booking given this special circumstances.
Don’t recommend this facility for anyone, Expedia charged me way too much for something doesn’t worth a damn dollar, I got charger $105 for something doesn’t worth more than $20, & that what it’s worth after I checked their website. Bad & unsafe area. Bad service and I feel like I was in a detention facility, I feel sorry for my money.
Medium good

Great room, awesome free pasta in the evening.
The place was nicer than expected and very safe and secured. Staffs are friendly. Overall a good experience, would stay there again.
This hostel was very clean from the rooms to the bathrooms. The staff was friendly. It was in a very good location. The breakfast was a very good deal!!!
People working there made the stay much better. I would highly recommend staying here.
tea was free it is very good. Recepition are good Room was normal not excellen
The rooms shown on Expedia was not the one that I got. I only booked this hostel because of the condition of rooms shown on Expedia. However, the room given looked more like an old hospital room. Shower was a joke too.
This hostel is very nice except for location. There is prostitution street right next but its safe when you come back to hostel early enough. I loved this hostel expect my roommates snored so loud.
Great
Great location and wonderful service. Overall excellent!
checkin was good, staff person friendly and very helpful with information for my stay.
Excellent staff and great service
My first stay in a hostel ever and fondest memories of excellent service and staff.the environment was Jovial and very helpful people. Keep it up guys
Clean hostel a bit noisy. Stayed there for a night. Very close to the central station which is great to go to the airport by train. The hostel is located in a red street, it is not the safest area.
Nice budget hotel that offers more than bargained
Nice hotel in outskirts of the city with security features such as key card for doors and also always monitored reception and CCTV. It's 5 mins away from train station but only issue can be for someone is the neighborhood area which can get noisy, dirty, annoying and so on..because it's in the middle of a ghetto area with different vulnerable individuals. Only downside is the waiting time for checking in and out as you can't do it instantly so be prepared to wait up to 30 mins after popping into the hostel.
Good location. Easy to reach any place in town. Clean and friendly.
5 Elements Hostel is unbeatable!
The staff is really friendly, chill and helpful. Free breakfast if you stay 3 nights or more, and it is delicious, simple and healthy. The location is in the red light district which seemed sktechy at first, but there was literally events going on in the neighborhood almost every night (we stayed for a week!) It is also walking distance to the river, to downtown and old town. We loved our stay here!
Pleasnt
Crash pad deluxe
There was a trade fair going on, so rooms were hard to find at a decent price. I just needed a place to sleep between flights. I haven't stayed at a hostel since I was 20-something. A bit noisy sharing a room with 5 strangers, but I survived. Easy 11-minute train ride from the airport, then 3 blocks to the hostel. Nice bar and lots of local eateries. Red-light district adds some color to the neighborhood.
Good Hostel
Good hostel. Excellent central location. Comfy bed in nice room. Good breakfast. Nice bar serving decent beer, although the terrible rap music playing in the bar each night was annoying - they need to shoot the DJ. Some of the nearby streets were rather seedy, with piles of junkies sitting and sleeping on the pavement day and night, which was rather distasteful. But they were not at all threatening, and I didn't feel there were any particular safety problems.
Awesome
It was a brilliant stay, staff were wonderful and welcoming and gave us help we needed.the location wasn't really what we expected but overall a brilliant experience
Would stay again
Cheap bed, noisy street, quiet windows, beautiful lobby atmosphere, nice bathroom fixtures and materials.
Decent hostel
Nice hostel, clean & comfortable, a bit too teenage like staff. Especially a few of the guys. Party hostels not my style. God forbid you ask them to turn down the music at reception.
Good hostel, but watch out at night
Hostel is pretty close to Frankfurt Main, however that street is full of sex and night clubs, once they open they attract all kinds of dodgy and filthy people to the area. Room was fine, spacious, bed semi-confortable but not sturdy, it shakes too much, bed-light, power outlet and big locker. Good facilities overall, people was having loads of fun there, there are two areas, one by the reception and one down the stairs with pool, sofas and there was a great atmosphere. Kitchen is small. Staff was fine, I guess German people don't understand what does good customer service mean overall as they are usually too serious. The Wifi was superb, incredibly fast, but they block most of the internet ports so if you plan to use it for online games or anything that requires ports you are not going to be able to do it. I recommend it but watch out if you come back late at night, definitely not for families with kids.
Alright stay
The only good thing was that I managed to get an early check in. Beds were comfortable and you put the bedsheets yourself. However the room smelled bad. The smell decreased only when the window was open. Toliets were outside the room and separated by gender. Only 2 shower stalls and 3 toilets for each gender. There is a lack of privacy when showering as there was only a translucent glass panel separating the 2 stalls and a shower curtain for the door of the stall. While some may be concerned about the hostel being located in the red light district, I think it's pretty ok. The walk from the HBF train station to the hostel was short and safe
Nice hostel for short stay
It is nice hostel for short stay, There is not TV in the room, no kitchenette In stead there is free coffee and tea in the reception, room is small with reasonable price
Fleas!!!
I got fleas here! I woke up itchy and bitten and complained to the staff at the desk at like 4am and she gave me the German name for bug bite cream thanks....
All-Round Excellence for a Bargain
I had a wonderful stay at 5Elements Hostel. The staff clearly know what they're doing - they're young, hip, efficient, and friendly, which makes them relatable. They're so laid-back and easygoing. The atmosphere is really nice, always lively and cozy - feels like home. There's a lot of information lying around and scrolled across the walls, so make sure you look around! The staff give you a good run-down of the hostel and the surrounding area (Frankfurt am Main) and are always happy to answer your questions and help out. There are events constantly running in the hostel and outside, and, in line with the chill atmosphere of the hostel, level of involvement is your choice; nothing feels imposing at all. There is a pool table if you're lucky to make friends and a kitchen stocked with utensils as well as free ingredients and condiments! Towels and padlocks are available for rent upon request - make sure you don't lose the tokens, though, because you won't get your deposit back without them! Hands-down the best hostel I've ever stayed at; there's nothing more I could ask for.
Already booked return
Clean and good value. Service and staff excellent. Surrounding area rough but felt safe even at night.Already booked return when I come back through in 6 weeks
They gave me a free upgrade to an apartment.
Young adults hostel in the Redlight District.
Stay If you need somewhere to sleep before boarding an early train. 5-min away from HBF, 5-min away from REWE grocery store. Strip clubs and erotic shops are around the corner. Don't take your kids here but hey, who am I to judge? Hotel reception is actually in the Cafe, too. The staff is passable.. I'm sure they don't care about these jobs. Usually they will give you attitudes for asking questions just about anything. So forget that and use google maps for your convenience! And they ask you to write down passport numbers, home addresses and other private information on a "Guest Sign-In" book at the desk and it's literally exposed to everyone. So I would recommend you scribble or make something up cuz those are sensitive information and I don't want everyone to see my passport info??
Does the job
Area was surprisingly quiet, despite some red-light neighbors. Very close to main train station. Very helpful front desk staff. Mattress had blood stains.
The hostel was very nice and the accommodations were pleasant the staff was amazing and very helpful.
Nice Hostel Bad Location
The Location of this Hostel is not in the best area of town. It is a bit weird walking around drunks, brothels, casinos and drug exchanges at night. The room it self was big and clean as well as the bathrooms. The cost was cheap to. Over all it wasn't a bad hostel but just know after dark you can feel out of place and stand out.
Convenient with Fantastic Staff in Frankfurt
Convenient location for an overnight layover. Easy to get to and from the Frankfurt airport. Super helpful and friendly staff. I was tired and hungry, and they fed me a wonderful spaghetti and salad dinner for free, which was way more appealing than anything I saw on my short walk from Frankfurt Hbf (train station) to Five Elements. Recommended.
The shower room is awfully design to miss a glass gate, which makes water spill over the whole toilet.
The staff was rude, the hostel was very loud at night and the room smelled.
Great place if you are a sound sleeper.
This is a fantastic hostel... 5 stars all the way......except for the street noise. Granted, I was there on a Friday and Saturday night, but the drunks, the hookers, the engine revers and street yellers just never gave it a rest. Hostel facilities are unmatched.....bring earplugs.
Terrible, the place is to dangerous and the accomodation is terrible.
Dirty room, not so tasteful location, bad staff
It's in the red light district, but of course you aren't told until you pay (I guess it's my fault). The receptionist treated us like we were children, forcing us to listen to what is essentially the same spiel at any other hotel (i.e. he told us we need to open the door to go to the elevator, then repeated told me to turn around and look at the door before he was satisfied). The place is a hostel, so it's not very clean. My washroom's wall had snot and human fluids splattered everywhere. The washroom also smells of sewage backup. On the plus side, the do offer some freebies (i.e. free pasta on some nights) but I didn't think it was worth my time or really, anyone else's. In case you think I sound like a whiny traveller, I've lived in teahouses in Nepal and have found it more sanitary and pleasant than this place. You've been warned.
Best hostel I've stayed in to date
Brilliant atmosphere. Comfortable and secure rooms. The layout and facilities are very efficient. Prices are good.
True minimum hostel
Hotels.com didn't mention it bring in red light district. With no Ac, had to leave windows open so we could listen to the drunks on the street all nite!
One night stay
Good location close to main train station and bus station. Friendly staff. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet ...
The location is near Frankfurt(Main) Hauptbahnhof. although it's in the red light district but is completely safe and the stuff are friendly
Hostel near Frankfurt Central Station
This was a very good hostel and I had a very pleasant stay. The security is very good, best in all the hostels I stayed on my trip. The area is patrolled heavily by police because of the location but use common sense and you would have a nice stay.
Very friendly stuff.
Very near to central station and airport.
circumstances made it difficult
We did not stay while we expected as Americans to have TV in the room. The mattress was too thin, while my husband could not sleep due to back pain. But the service and the lobby were very friendly and understood our situation after 1 1/2 on the plane/airports. If it would be possible we'd like to get refunded for the not taken stay, due to that we had to take another hotel within walking distance and spend another 50 EUR onto that. But the Hostel itself wasn't able to refund us the already paid money.
A positive experience! I recommend this hostel :)
The staff was very friendly, and staying in a room with five strangers went better than I thought it might. Everyone tried to be as respectful to each other as possible, so I was pleasantly surprised. There was also a reception room with a bar and free tea and coffee, and it was pretty cool to meet people from all walks of life there. The neighborhood was a little sketchy due to strip clubs and brothels, but I felt safe walking to the hostel 2 or 3 blocks from the train station (I'm a woman). Additionally, the hostel is secure (they have to buzz you in to the reception room and then buzz you through another door to get to the sleeping quarters). The room I shared with the others was very clean, and the bathrooms were also very clean. All in all, a good experience.
Close to the train station
Bad surrounding, weird people. Wouldnt go outside at night as there was a bad crowd of people in front of the hotel buying and selling stuff. Noisy during the night, could hear people yelling. The room had a bad smell, looked dirty. The walls had spiderwebs. Wouldnt go back. The staff was nice.
Unfortunately for this hotel which was great I refuse to be forced to write comments especially with minimum characters and told off by a bleeding computer to do more . So your poor website requirements have disadvantaged this hotel
Wonderful hostel!
it is right in the center of red light district and we were trying to enjoy it cuz the room we've got is he second floor of the front street so basically it is sitting on the first row, we could see everything so clearly there but still we gotta be careful. And the staff is just fantastic like them a lot! The room we stayed was private double bed room with bathroom, the bathroom everytime after the shower would have flood. The rest was perfect!
Good value for money!!!
Great hotel with excellent security measures- especially neccessary for the neighbourhood it is situated in. Even though it is in the downtown, location still conveniently close to train and bus stations. Easy, close walk to 'city centre'. Would reccommend it for any person(s), especially young travelers. Good value for money
Nice Hostel
Fun and friendly hostel in Frankfurt's RLD. There are no safety concerns with the hostel, and its convenient to transportation. The bar and the staff were excellent and I'd stay here again.
Best hostel experience ever!
The hostel is clean, near the train station. It is located at the red light district but I felt safe during the stay. Events every night at the hostel, like social meetings, pub crawl etc. If you want to make some new friends, this hostel is your choice! Staffs are friendly and helpful!
Great hostel!
Great friendly staff. Cool vibe when relaxing in the hostel lounge with jazzy music piped in. Good security too as they buzz guests through a secured door into the sleeping rooms. However they don't look at your ID when registering and simply ask you to record your passport number and address on a log sheet. So you see the info of other guests when checking in. Towel rental at €5. You get a tiny token that you have to return with the towel to get the 5 euro back. Breakfast good and only €4.50 euros. Available til noon so great for late risers!
Hostel in a dodgy part of town but nice
Getting to the hostel after midnight on a Wednesday was not pleasant. The hostel is located in the red light district, right by the train station, where a lot of hobos live. The hostel though is safe, comforting, warm, clean and friendly. Nicer to walk around during the day! Comfy bed (standard for a hostel) and big room. Very cool decor.
Great choice for clean and secure option
Exactly as expected, for the price it is a great choice for clean and secure option in central location. If you do not mind it is a dorm.
Would stay here again!
Excellent location near the train station. Reasonably priced.
worth for value
Good for bachelors or purely bag packers. Staff was goof and helpful.
Good choice for budget travellers
As the hostel keep reminding us, it is located in red light district. But we don't find it unsafe coz the hostel staff are friendly & security-conscious. Entrance of the hostel was double locked. Very close to Frankfurt station. Room funishings are old but acceptable at such a low price. But we saw a cockroach once!!! Hostel staff are just awesome. So, good choice for budget travellers.
Excellent hotel
It was excellent, very friendly .
Inexpensive, friendly, comfortable
OK, so it's in the red light district. So what. That's in between downtown and old town. It's a 10 minute walk to one of the most beautiful riverside areas I've seen. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was very quiet and clean. Shower room & bathroom were small, but then this is a hostel, not a Marriot. The building is fairly new. I was in a 4-bed room, and with the windows open it was very quiet. One quick tip - I drove there and the staff told me about a gravel parking lot 15 minutes away for 5 E per day. Worked out great. Good luck!
Trendy & Refined Hostel
This hostel is easily one of the best places I've stayed at - in comparison to hotels also. They know what they're doing and have all facilities/measures in place to ensure all needs are catered for. The only downfall is the surrounding (red light) neighbourhood, but with the main train station just a 5min walk away it doesn't take long to get out of the 'hood'. Highly recommended, you won't regret it!
Funky hostel nearby main train station
Low cost hostel for an overnight stay. Being a hostel; there is no TV in the room. U need to bring along a ID card and door key card once you leave the room. The security was adequate for a hostel as the receptionist will open the door to the lift once you flash the ID card. The shared bathroom and toilet was pretty basic and non-frills. Need to bring along your own shower gal and shampoo as the furnished sachets are barely enough. The free wifi was slow and just adequate for emails and social messaging. The room floor was not carpeted and you need to bring your own slippers as the bare concrete was cold. The hotel is located next to a brothel which makes it totally not suitable with young children. But the room rates are acceptable for a non-frills hostel which caters for free breakfast. Will stay there again if I need to catch an early flight the next day due to its affordable rates.
エレベーターがあり、助かりました。また無料のコーヒー☕️が美味しかったです。
A região é um pouco assustadora. Ainda vale o valor mas sim fiquei preocupada de andar à noite... durante o dia é tranquilo.
Nice place, well located and the staff was REALLY nice and helpful!
Gut
Hostel in the middle of a red light district
Five Elements Hostel | Hotel in Frankfurt | Travala.com
The location of this property is right in the middle of the red light district and was unsafe. Thieves, street prostitutes, drug dealers/users just outside the entrance. The place was noisy both inside and outside the property. Other than the reception area, the facility was below average. Overall, this was by far the worst place I have stayed in Europe over the past few weeks.
