The location is quite good, as it's a very short walk to a nearby supermarket and a liquor store, a bit further away is Sadat metro station and various places to eat. Plenty of showers and toilets. Kitchen was equipped for real cooking and has a fridge. Plenty of sitting places around the open areas. I'm not sure what the smoking policy is but guests smoke everywhere. I was in a room with 2 beds but it had no shelves nor a table or any storage to put stuff in or on. The door had a wide enough gap between the jamb and the lock to require two turns of the lock to lock it securely. If someone was smoking at a neighbouring door, the smoke would sometimes penetrate thru the gap. Sound insulation of patch strip of metal around the room window is nonexistent, and two rooms I've been to had the same flaw, so bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Lift works but the minder has to be called by reception to send it up to the 6th floor. Too many cats wandering around. Allergics beware! Breakfast for 50LE was minimal. Heritage hostel serves a slightly better breakfast and it's included but it has its own foibles (see my review of it on booking)
I had the unfortunate to meet scamers in my room.
This will definitely be the place I'll be staying at when I come back to Egypt. The staff, the people, the place, everything is excellent.
My single room had only a comfortable clean bed, a light and a fan. The room and the bathroom were very clean. The staff was friendly, and the hostel had a nice vibe. It was centrally located was in the middle of busy area. Very safe and walkable. I only had one dislike. The elevator only goes to the 6th floor, however the hostel is on the 7th floor. So you have to walk up about 20 winding stairs with luggage. There is no call button to to summon the elevator up. The staff has to call to the elevator man to sent the elevator up. I felt stuck a few times because he stepped away. A staff member then has to go down 7 flight to bring the elevator up. Once I had to walk down myself. For.that reason I would not stay here again, as I am a senior and have a knee inplant. Other than that issue my stay was good.
This was my second time at Dahab hostel and I would go back again :) The location is perfect, the people there are super nice and the rooms are clean and have everything you need. The terrace is also amazing to relax within the hectic city
This place is lovely! Made friends from different nationalities The rooftop is windy and a great place to chill Cats are all around which is cool cause i love cats Staff are so friendly
I had the best time at the Dahab hostel, would really recommend it for your stay in Cairo. All the employees are very friendly and helpful. The terrace is very nice and you can have good cheap breakfast on the roof if you like. The rooms are clean. Overall I would definitely recommend it and for sure stay there again if I go back to Cairo!
Perfect for layovers
I got in early from a trip to siwa and I was able to check in early yet they also let you store your items and take a shower if room is not available. Very friendly perfect for a quick layover in Cairo or to be in the center of all the action with walking distance to Egyptian museum.
Great little place with an amazing rooftop, very friendly and helpful staff, good location, tasty breakfast and great atmosphere. Unfortunately the amount of mosquitoes is just something else - we could barely get any rest as the whole night you just fight with the annoying beasts. Because of that I would definitely choose another place next time. Shame!
No Wi-Fi into the room.
I was there for 2 days, the staff are so friendly, but there no Wi-Fi into the room and the room's wall was so terrible. The staffs was smoking Marijuana beside me near the reception when i was there using the Wi-Fi
Very friendly staff. For being a hostal it is super clean!
I really loved this place! Bohemian and laid back. Lots of adorable cats who are super friendly. Great breakfast! I was super cold in my room (no heat), but I didn’t pack for winter very well either. Old fashioned (but quick) elevator takes you to 7th floor, you walk up to the 8th. You cannot call for the elevator to go down (sometimes you’re lucky and it’s there and sometimes not). I would definitely stay here again!
it was good day
Great value for a very convenient location between the musem and Talaat Harb square. The rooftop is very quiet and relaxing. The staff are friendly. The rooms are very basic and there is no breakfast or coffee, but of course, it’s a hostel, so that’s expected. Highly recommend.
The hostel is lovely. Great roof patio with view of the city. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic but still confortable. Showers are huge with good pressure, one of the best I’ve seen in Egypt. The area around is nice too, you can walk to everything. I definitely recommend this hostel :)
This is the go-to hostel in Cairo with a beautiful, peaceful rooftop in the heart of downtown. Some staff are very friendly and others are very indifferent.
Dahab Hostel really is a unique oasis from the hustle and bustle of downtown Cairo. There are various places and nooks to sit and relax such as the rooftop terrace. There are always people in the main sitting area and in just the three days we were there, were able to befriend many other people from around the world. Dahab is a special community where the people that work there are apart of it. Baz and Selvia are amazing humans.

Pretty typically hostel. Nice staff. It’s all outdoors, on a rooftop, so not sure how comfortable that would be in the summer. WiFi was decent. They had staff continually cleaning the bathrooms and showers. Room was fine, nothing spectacular, or horrible. Really close to the Egyptian museum, not far from a subway stop. Lots of restaurant options within walking distance, even a couple of bars and drinkies next door (one of the few places to purchase alcohol).
