Okay to try but wouldn't go back

We stayed at the Avalon and it looked nice in the photos but when we arrived it was tired and old and doors and lights were dusty and hallway carpets stained. Bathrooms were also mouldy in places and could do with a deep clean. I also got food poisoning from the satay chicken at the hotel but staff didn't understand I was really ill for 3/4 days.

Hotel is getting a bit tired. The shower in the bath facility is not good. A separate walk in shower would be good.

I’ve stayed here many times. They seem to be cutting back on things like no wash cloths.

I will honestly say I don’t think I would stay here at this property again. For the following reasons. - There was no hot water was only warm and the water pressure was variable no matter what time of day. - The air conditioning unit was very loud and sounded like a jet. So loud that you would almost have to yell to have a conversation. - The room smelled moldy and musty. - The entire hotel decor in rooms & common areas is very old needs updated / remodeled and reminds me of 1970’s Iraq / Middle East palace feel. - The beds are very hard, lumpy and uncomfortable. - We did bring issues to management due to mold smell & AC noise in room 228. They moved us to 229. But had same issues. - Breakfast was sub par, coffee machine was Luke warm, orange juice was powder orange food coloring. Even the omelette station was under cooked & was not hot. Non of the food was hot. Even the pastry’s were stale and not fresh. - I ordered margaritas and pepperoni pizza one evening, sat out at the bar by the street watching the sunset. The margaritas were extremely small in a very small child like sippy cup. I ask for crispy pizza still came out under cooked. - Wood decking around pool has holes and rotten wood so watch your step as you walk around, hope not to get wood splinters in your feet. Over all very clean, safe, convenient over across the street to the beach convenient to entertainment. But it’s kind of a hike walk to any bakeries or coffee shops. Staff very nice & polite

Quality and high standards still there!

This was second time staying at this hotel. The location is great and the staff wonderful. I find that the bed is a bit off from what I am use to at home but it was clean and did it’s job.

Location was fine. Pity wifi service was marginal all the time Shame public toilets across the road drifted unpleasant odours with prevailing wind on to the front terrace Nice pool however having said that very reasonably priced so really depends on what is important.

EXCELLENT STAFF.

I traveled alone to Pattaya for a few days of relaxing holiday and this hotel provided me the space! It's located right at the beach and hotel staff is very friendly. The pool is nice and so are the breakfast options as well as lunch/dinner. Would return again!

Probably the best hotel in Jomtien. Excellent pool and good service for when the wifi stopped working, on average twice every day. The whole town feels a bit tired and lazy, to be fair the staff were all very good but don’t expect a business class hotel

EXCELLENT STAFF.

Service around the pool was kind of slow however, besides that our stay was excellent and will be staying there again in the future.

The filthy hallway carpets are really unacceptable and the dim lighting gives the feel of a one star property. The rooms are very clean and well furnished but rather uncomfortable. The furniture is solid wood with thin worn cushions making it rather uncomfortable.

Generally very positive stay. Right across from the beach. Staff very helpful. Room was spacious and clean. Property is a bit dated and needs some upgrades but we would definitely stay there again

The facilty are a little old but still well maintained. The services from house keeping, dining room serving to front desk are all fruendly and professional. I booked 3 rooms via hotels.com, cancelled one room 5 days before we arrive, nonrefundable. However when I tried to find out who kept my payment, the resort or hotels.com, the front desk spent 2 days cannot find the answer.

Ageing but still a worthwhile resort

This is not our first time here. Last was pre-Covid. Upon returning nothing has changed much except perhaps a little more tired. The location is perfect for the beach, especially the gay part. The lobby is open, spacious & clean. The pool is a big drawcard. Stunning & large. Breakfast is perfectly acceptable. The staff are all friendly. The rooms are where the issues for some people may lie. The beds are getting tired & some of the sheets need changing. We had holes in ours. The electrics need modernising. There are no usb ports. The bathroom only has a shower over the bath & getting in & out for older folks is problematic. There is also a lingering odour in a number of area - cleaning products designed to mask even greater odours. For the price I think that Avalon represents a reasonable value. Renovation of the bathrooms would make it so much better but, in the meantime, you could do a lot worse.

Location perfect, hotel is beautiful

What a beautiful place to stay - The pool is amazing, the location could not be better. Walk out the back gate, turn left and Baht bus stop is 300m down the road right out front of 7-11 store. Hop on Baht bus here and 10baht will take you into pattaya, mikes mall, central, terminal 21… route runs right along second street. It is tucked away so no rowdy late night parties or bars near by. ( there is a quiet little bar and eatery 200m down the road. Quiet though) Breakfast buffet was nice, I had fresh eggs, bacon on toast and cereal with fresh fruit so I saved on buying lunch every day. Do yourself a favour and book the pool access rooms, from your bed it is about 20 steps and you’re in the pool. Doors block out all noise so no problem. But Don’t go overboard, I upgraded to the larger direct pool access room, the one with a spa bath with windows around it in the picture.. it was the last couple of night, why not splurge.. if I stayed in the other cheaper pool access room I would have given 10/10.. the room is nice! But not worth the extra money per night. The other rooms have concrete walls, the premium room has the ability to become a twin room with the room next door, so sound travels through the doors in the wall into next door. And any food (or other) smells from next door come into your room.. I would definitely stay here again! In the pool access rooms, not the delux one.

I liked the classic Thai style of the hotel. The pool is beautiful. The beach-side location at Dongtan Beach is great. Staff were nice. Plenty of restaurants nearby.

Beachfront, great seaview, easy access to the walking street, eating & shopping areas. Very nice and helpful staff.

Walk to the beach and very big pool

Rooms were very clean and cleaned every day to perfection. All staff are very friendly and helpful. Check in receptionists are wonderful and make the check in and checkout process easy fast and stress free.

Beautiful setting, nice big rooms. Only disappointment was limited breakfast , but this is understandable With so few guests atm.

Disappointing Stay

Unfortunately due to COVID hotel operating on a skeleton staff No bar or restaurant open Set breakfast menu Instant coffee or tea bag Pool not maintained up to standard water not very clean and as a result best feature of hotel not used which was shame.Had to ask for additional pillows for room and get air conditioning attend to. Hopefully may improve next year when guests return and hotel is fully operational and pool maintained to standard

All good but no gym despite claims

They advertise a gym and have no gym. It's been closed 2 years they said, which is enough time to change their advertising. Otherwise, staff is very friendly and competent and facility is nice. I still give them a low rating though because I chose this hotel for the gym.

Spacious, clean but ageing

We have previously stayed here & enjoyed it but this time proved frustrating. Changed rooms twice. Initially due to bad smell in room and then second time because air conditioning was faulty. Rooms are spacious & clean & breakfast is acceptable. Pool is lovely & access to beach is a great bonus. Good shuttle service to main road. Staff a bit aloof, especially shuttle drivers.

Though this is an older hotel and was relatively small compared with most others in Pattaya, it had everything you need. Great pool, rooms and balconies generous and close to a clean safe beach. The staff were helpful, pleasant and always happy to help. Would happily recommend the Avalon and look forward to staying again.

Like: beach front , classic Thai building and decor, rooms are very spacious with a big balcony facing the pool, with full or partial seaview. Amenities are basically adequate, dental kit on request, direct access to Dongtan Beach, just 10 minutes walk to Pattaya Bangkok Bus terminal. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Here it feels just like a relaxing vacation resort.

I loved that one can step straight onto Dongtan Beach. The bedrooms are large. Every room has a balcony with table and chairs. Every room overlooks the huge swimming pool in beautiful, tropical surroundings. WiFi is fast and free. The choice of breakfast foods on offer is awful. Plenty of variety but few things anyone can recognize as familiar breakfast fare. God only knows where the cook is from but the foods on offer look inedible. Hence the restaurant was empty for lunch and dinner given the poor standard of the breakfast. However, there are plenty of excellent dining options along the beach in both directions, a short walk away, my favorites being the Rabbit Resort to the right out the gate or the Pirate Bar to the left.

Great spacious rooms. Friendly staff. Less that 1 minute from the beach. However: 1st day no water at all till 6pm, but that became 9pm 2nd and 3rd day no warm water and had to complain 2x before it was fixed.

Amenties were not in high quantity available. We broke a drinking glass and found thb 20 on the bill. Location is right on top of the beach, which is ideal. The room was very spacious as well.

The complex is old and extremely well cared for. Rooms are large and well maintained. Breakfasts were adequate, agood mix of Asian and European but not over the top. Location is brilliant and is very quiet. Only issue is the reservation of pool side lay lows. People throw a towel over the chair and it stays there whilst they are elsewhere.

Pool is really good and beach is accessible next to the out gate and it awesome. Staff are really good and breakfast is also good. Only thing, they don't provide dental kit. Overall, its very good.

It is the ONLY oceanfront hotel in Pattaya, Dongtan Beach and Jomtien Beach. The hotel pool is large and lovely. This is a genuinely Resort property.

Fantastic location, wonderful pool, breakfast very good and open until 10.30am. Rooms spacious, clean and quiet. If you prefer a day on the beach, it’s basically a step out of the gate on to a beautiful beach with plenty of sun beds for hire. There isn’t really a bar of note in the hotel,although drinks are available , but with plenty of bars a short walk away, this isn’t really a problem....highly recommend!

Lovely hotel with character

This hotel was lovely big comfortable bed and large bedroom and bathroom with bath and shower. Private balcony overlooking the pool. The Poole was large and clean in nice surroundings directly opposite the beach. The road in front is very quiet as only closed to public traffic. The beach was not for us as the sea was very dirty.

Potential was there but....

The room was lovely. Public areas very comfortable. Pool and deck were in poor repair. Tiles were missing in the pool and a lot of the deck was rotting. Pool sanitation was poor. Parents were playing with small babies in pool and no diapers! Opportunity for roto virus or Noro virus was very high. Standards should be raised. Staff were a little reserved, could have been friendlier.

Good location and beautiful resort

The room was a nice size, big enough to spread out. I liked having a refrigerator so I could store my coffee creamer. The breakfast was amazing with its wide selection and quality food. The location was good for finding other restaurants and activities within walking distance. Internet connection was good. I loved the pool since it was long enough for doing laps (approx. 25 meters) but I had to swim before 10am to not get in the way of others enjoying the pool.

Gem of a beach hotel

The first impression was excellent in all aspects. Nice swimming pool; Just on the beach. Some minor drawbacks observed are - bath tub hot water alternating from hot to cold every few seconds, the housekeeping staff cannot understand English, the hotel doesn’t provide shaving or dental kits. Though a bit inside from the main road accessability is easy and we had our own car and so it didn’t matter. Shoe shine or ironing board are not available though hotel might have decided that those are not required for a beach holiday resort. Overall very good.

Hotel is een beetje vergane glorie. In heel Thailand nog nooit zo'n ongeïnteresseerd en passief personeel meegemaakt. De kamer die wij geboekt hadden maakte veel goed, alhoewel ook hier een en ander aan renovatie toe was. Deuren die niet sluiten, uit de kast vallende planken en een likje verf zou ook niet misstaan. Gezelligheid is hier niet te vinden. Locatie daarentegen perfect. En daar gaat het eigenlijk ook om.

Très bon accueil. Chambre très spacieuse, propre et bien équipée. Balcon. Grand choix pour le petit déjeuner buffet. Très grande piscine bien aménagée. Très bien situé.

The hotel is nice, very good service, special the cleaning women on my level were very fast, polite, helpful. 3 things I dislike: 1. Room with poor soundproofing 2. At breakfast, I had to pay for a Jasmin tea (I don't drink coffew or black tea) 3. The transfer from hotel to Bangkok is terribly expensive (2200 instead of 1400)

Bon rapport qualité/prix en basse saison

Hotel confortable. Bien situé face a la plage. Piscine très agréable car pratiquement toujours ombragé. Mon avis vaut pour la basse saison, car j'ai plus de doute concernant la situation en hausse saison si hotel est complet . la seule réserve concerne le service. personne ne passe en cours de journée autour de la piscine pour savoir si un client désire une boisson. Bon service au petit déjeuner, mais très mauvais le soir pour le diner.

Top Aufenthalt in Pattaya.

Wir hatten das Zimmer 430 - obere Etage und nah am Strand. Schöner Aussicht. Frühstück buffet mit viel Auswahl ( Thai und Western). Pool super - ca 25 m lang ideal auch zum schwimmen. Gut gelegen in jomtien mit einem breiten Auswahl an Restaurants.
