Just the BEST!
John was the penultimate host: friendly, smart, gracious and helpful. The house is well-lit, beautifully designed and supremely comfortable. Spotless and thoughtfully laid out. Extremely comfortable bed and bedding. It was an ideal spot and conveniently located on several counts. This is the way to go!
Great place
Every detail attended to.
John and Binx were excellent hosts for the time spent there.
Perfect stay! The property was so unique and our room had everything we needed, and a lot of things we didn’t need. Our hosts were great and the next time were in Raleigh we’ll definitely be back.
John was an incredible host! The property is tastefully decorated and put together down to the finest detail. You can tell that John (The owner) cares a lot about his guests' experience staying at The Store. I will absolutely be booking here again.
Would stay over and over again!
John's hospitality is astounding and warm, the place has everything you need: great location, comfy rooms, and a friendly bed/breakfast feel (is not a B&B). Would recommend 10/10!!
Artistic Design and Comfort in Raleigh
My recent stay at the The Store left me thoroughly impressed with John's exceptional hospitality. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and attentive service (and a cuddle from Binx, the cutest dog I've ever seen on staff). They went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Whether offering personalized recommendations for local attractions, or simply checking in to see if there was anything else they could assist with, John (the owner) truly epitomized hospitality at its finest. Beyond the outstanding service, the design of The Store was equally captivating. Every corner of the property exuded artistic intention and sophistication, seamlessly blending modern amenities with charming architectural elements. From the sleek lobby adorned with contemporary feng shui characteristics, to the meticulously landscaped gardens/Koi Pond that provided a serene backdrop for relaxation, every detail was thoughtfully curated to create a tranquil oasis for guests. John and The Store (and Binx!) deliver an unforgettable experience where hospitality and design harmoniously come together.
Raleigh’s Best Host
I came up to Raleigh for New Years and I had a wonderful stay with John at The Store. My girlfriend and I drove up from San Antonio and John accommodated us arriving late and was the most welcoming, charming and courteous host! He showed us around the lovely space, and gave us a wonderful rundown of recommendations for places to eat and get drinks locally. I need to add that John treated us like family for the whole stay, and made me chamomile tea and breakfast when he learned that I was feeling under the weather. I was utterly charmed and moved by his hospitality. I would recommend this lovely business to anyone thinking of staying a few nights in Raleigh!
Lovely stay at The Store. What a beautiful home. The uniqueness of the property really made our stay so enjoyable. We had the larger of the suites & highly recommend it. It was perfect. Such a great experience.
Loved the space and ease of walking to many restaurants. The host was very knowledgeable of the area and had recommendations for restaurants, recreation, and more!
Beautiful, comfortable suite in a unique building in a fun neighborhood. John is a helpful and welcoming host.
My husband and I are both architects. We booked this place randomly, and had no idea the owner was an architect. The Store is an amazing home! It is a beautiful work of architecture with an incredible attention to detail. We normally don't hang out much where we stay, but this time we didn't want to leave. Sitting outside by the Koi pond was wonderful!
This is my third stay at The Store in Raleigh and I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. The property has been beautifully designed by a master architect and is rich in details. The vibe is peaceful and modern. John, the proprietor, is friendly, knowledgeable, and it is clear that he has put thought into every detail of the experience. There is a screened porch and koi pond. Book the King Suite for a truly enjoyable experience. It is spacious and has an amazingly big shower complete with a stereo system. There are so many amenities available. I will definitely stay again when I am in Raleigh!
This was a very wonderful stay. We will be back.
Extremely clean. Helpful advice. Very artful and interesting place.
Loved it!!
The Store was AMAZING. The owner’s insights and recommendations were incredible. SO appreciate the kindness and hospitality. Room was so comfy and had all the amenities to make our stay outstanding.
Unique property with character. Loved everything about it!
Lovely space inside and out
Stayed here for a 1 night getaway with my husband. The Innkeeper, John, was welcoming and informative. The accommodations were gorgeous and well appointed. The King Suite had an awesome bathroom which featured a large walk in shower with 2 shower heads including a rain shower. There were even speakers throughout the unit, in the sleeping area and the bathroom, this was an unexpected bonus! Outdoor areas are well manicured and offer a variety of fresh herbs, fruit and veggies. The common spaces are spacious and allow for a relaxing lounge experience. The one and only thing that may bother some people is the creaking of the hardwood floors but this is part of the charm of an historic space and was not an issue for us. It is clear John has put a lot of thought into this space and created a unique experience to share with visitors to the area. I highly recommend a stay in this beautiful 2 unit property!
Such a unique place to stay! We loved our room and the location was perfect to walk and explore Raleigh.

There isn’t one thing the proprietor John hasn’t thought of. I was amazed at how well-equipped this inn was—I barely had to unpack anything because it was already there. The house is expertly designed and the very first thing that struck me was how lovely it smelled everywhere. In a beautiful quiet residential neighborhood that’s a stone’s throw from the center of Raleigh. John has amazing recommendations for anything you might be hankering for while in town. I stay in a lot of more anonymous places while on work travel but this lovely guesthouse was a welcome change of pace for me.
