Lovely place to stay, nice and quiet, nice people at the royal oak, would come back again.
This is a lovely little place with a great pub with really friendly staff and great food. Excellent dog walk on the other side of the road. The room has a fridge microwave kettle and toaster. The owner was a bit stressed about the shower having failed but they had called a plumber and all was fixed with no problems and lots of apologies. Would recommend!!
Excellent facilities in room
Winter wonderland
Very friendly staff food was amazing accommodation very comfortable needed a little Tidy up otherwise very clean
It is an honest 2 to 3 star accommodation which is reflected in the price. If you want better then you will have to pay a lot more but i was more than happy with the room and the service and yes i would go back
a bit isolated from durham itself but the staff are friendly and will help with any transport! had a love two nights!
Lovely stay Hosts very friendly. Room clean and had everything we needed
very friendly, nice accomodation, sadly the TV wouldn't work and despite the owners efforts, he couldn't get it to work either. Good being next to the pub for meals and breakfast, didn't get chance to try them but will next time.

Great stay nice place we will be going again
Comfortable and Pet Friendly
I stayed for one night with my three dogs prior to judging at a local dog show. Overall it is a nice property but the listing is misleading. It states there is a garden, there isn’t. Parking is very limited on the street, and quite tight. It also doesn’t make it clear there are three properties in a row, it implies there is just one. Listing doesn’t mention the properties are adjacent to a pub, and are owned by the pub. The day I was travelling I was telephoned to ask if I would move into the pub to stay instead, which I declined due to having the dogs and they weren’t happy about that. I was then chased two days after my stay for payment, when I booked and paid via Hotels.com. Not really acceptable.
Very well equipped room with kettle, toaster, microwave, and adequate crockery. Lighting also better than many hotel rooms.
Did the job. That’s all.
The accommodation was fine and comfortable. No frills and a good level of equipment. Bed was comfortable and shower room was clean. Had a tv kettle and the room was a good size. Could do with a little more comfort in its decoration but did the job. Surrounding were a little untidy but we stayed during high winds so suffered a lot of noise with loose building parts. Walls between accommodation are a little thin so not much soundproofing. All in all it was ok. Only drawback was it said free breakfast. When we stayed the breakfast was not available. Dont know why but.

Very nice country pub with friendly locals. Accommodation did what was needed for an overnight stay. Pet friendly which is what we wanted.
