A little bit of paradise. Wonderful staff and great accommodation and food. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Choose the ferry to travel from Phuket, not the speedboat, the journey on the speedboat to Tonsai Pier was very rough and one passenger fell out of his seat and hurt his back due to the buffetting.
Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Great views from cliffside villa. Beaches are not busy bc it’s only accessible by boat. Dinner was good. Snorkeling right out front of the property.
Far to quiet. And nothing to do in the evenings
It’s a nice little isolated hotel located outside the main part of Phi Phi Island. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the area has a very tropical vibe with lots of plants, trees and the ocean right in front of you. I spent three nights there in September 2024. There’s not much to do when the rain hits the island and you’re kind of cut off ‘cause you can’t get anywhere. The house I lived in was ok but there was a lot of bugs in side. Ants, mosquitoes and flies found there way in between the bamboo walls. Even though the door’s were shut you could hear everything from the outside - boats, other people walking around and the sometimes heavy winds that came across the island. The bed was terrible hard and I had some trouble sleeping.
The area is the best, service and dinning experience top of the line. A little far from the main town but there is always some way to move around.
Beautiful , quiet stay. Very good menu at the restaurant with high quality standard. Staff excellent and friendly. Try the hike up to viewpoint 3. It’s a bush track and you’ll need to be a little fit. Not the best swimming beach, but you can have a dip. Looks good for snorkeling.
Beautiful escape
What a beautiful are to escape from the busy side of koh lipe! Very friendly staff, beautiful bungalows, lots of nature around to observe, clean beach and bungalows! I was a little disappointed at the lack of menu items as there is only 1 restaurant to eat at.. there were too many options for wester cusine when I much prefer local thai dishes. The bathrooms could use some towel hooks. Otherwise I was very happy here.
There was a lot of abandon buildings and woods that need to be clear up but so far the resort was beautiful
Beautiful place and lovely staff!
The property itself was excellent, services was also excellent.
Best people and unreal views , loved every minute of being there
Good
Totally stunning location, loved the view and being located in the djungle. Stayed in a deluxe villa, beautiful layout of the cabin. The hotel is a 3-star resort located off grid. The bad reviews I have seen seem to compare the resort to a 5-star resort in urban area. This is the perfect place for a calm getaway. Lovely staff with a cheerful chef that cooked me some great food. The beach is not perect, but serves it purpose!
Beautiful property, the beach was amazing. Our bed had a weird strong sour smell even after changing the sheets, the last night we couldn’t stand it and slept with our heads at the foot of the bed
Very good part of Phi Phi, however the WIFI the whole 3 days was absolutely terrible, discinnected more tham connected... the staff are awesome, and rooms are very good resturant food is very good.. yes recommend highly
The amenities are inadequate. Foods are ok in general.
Grear staff and beautiful quiet beach with great view from the beach bungalow. Food was fresh every day. Breakfast simple but delicious. We walked up to the viewpoint one day, got free kayaks and snorkles. Yes sea is loud at night and its a bamboo bungalow on the edge of the jungle so you do get some bugs there but that comes with the authentic experience. If you are looking for posh place with comfortable bed dont come here. I dont get people coming to the jungle and then complaining about comfort. Room was cleaned every day, clean towels. Place is great for few nights stay. You even get free transfers to the centre. Really enjoyed it.
Old grimey sheets and towels. Food was very bad and expensive
The villa itself is beautiful. However the rainfall shower was only for cold water, we couldn’t use it to take a warm shower. The breakfast was okay, there was plenty to choose from but not over the top. Everything is triple the price that the main city and the only way to get to town is by boat, which the hotel provides however it’s at an additional cost that’s rather expensive and makes the trip back into town not worth it. You’re better off paying for a nice hotel near town. It’s definitely not worth the hassle of going back and forth. Also, the first day we were misinformed and wasted 6 hours waiting for the transportation to the resort with our luggage. There was no advance notice. So we wasted our entire day just waiting from 10 am until almost 5 pm to depart the pier. There wasn’t much solution to resolve the problem and on the boat back, it ran out of gas so there was another delay. Definitely not worth the money.
Access is by boat and the hotel does not have a pier so be prepared to jump in knee high water to get to the hotel or when heading out.
A Great 'Exprience'
Reading other peoples reviews of this hotel made me nervous, but I really needn't have been. Upon arriving on the island from the speedboat, there was someone waiting for us on the pier with the sign for the cove (A professionally produced one. Please don't be persuaded by one of the scammers on the pier) The longtail boat took us round for free (there is no cost for the longtail transfer at check in and check out) Arriving at the hotel, there were people to meet us and help with the bags, and then a welcome drink and check in. All a very simple and friendly process. We had a beachfront bamboo hut (number B03), and it was very clean (as clean as a bamboo hut can be), and no bugs at all, as other reviewers have said. The beachfront position was fantastic, however, it can be quite noisy at night in these with the longtail boats passing by. The bed was firm but comfortable enough, and actually helped fix my back after a bed that was too soft for the previous few nights. The food at the hotel was fantastic. We couldnt fault it, as long as you stuck to the local Thai dishes. The drinks were pretty good too, and not overly expensive. Certainly less than expected from the reviews. 60 Baht for a beer and 200 baht for a cocktail. The hotel had that personal touch where the people there actually cared about you enjoying that, and I really liked that even after spending the previous few nights in a suite in a 5 star hotel.
Nothing to say, just great place, great service and great people BE RIGHT BACK SOON!!!
The property was quite secluded which was good, because you were away from the nosy bit of the island. The only bad thing about being secluded is that things were more expensive since there was only one restaurant. The cost of things in the hotel were double sometimes triple what it would cost around Tonsai Pier. However the staff were excellent, they were really kind and made sure that your stay was as comfortable and efficient as possible.
If I could give a 0, I would. The experience I had here was a nightmare and I would not wish it upon anyone. The service was absolutely horrible, the rooms were repulsive, and the overall stay was bad. The advertising they do is not what it seems and when you get here you will want to leave the same day. 1) the room had no phone, what place do you go to doesn’t have a phone to call the main desk if you need anything? So instead you have to walk 8 minutes to ask for anything or even to ask a question. Had to even walk all the way down to ask them to come carry my luggage to the lobby because they don’t have phones for you to call down and talk. 2. They have no safe in the room. What room doesn’t have a safe to store your important belongs you don’t want to potentially get stollen? Jewelry, money, passports etc.... 3. The room they put us in had an EXTREME ant problem. Thousands of ants on the ground to the ant farm it had in the corner of the room, and that’s not with the little lizards in the room on the walls. 4. The washroom had absolutely nothing. So don’t expect to get any toiletries when arriving if you do decide to stay there. They don’t have bars of soap, they give you shampoo in a water bottle. They don’t have mini shampoos or conditioners. The sink faucet was falling apart. The bathroom overall looks like a dungeon. 5. The best was on day one of arriving we got into our room, looked in the fridge to see an empty fridge that wasn’t even plugged in. Had to walk a whole
Not so great stay at the Cove
I wouldn’t stay here again. The room itself was good. Doesn’t seem like it has really been kept up to date as there were lighting fixtures broken and burnt out, also had a broken shower head. At the time of booking I didn’t realize it was only accessible by boat, the location is really far from everything. The staff weren’t helpful and the food at the restaurant is overpriced and average.
Definitely not worth it
Hotel check in procedure says to go to Klong Jilard pier in Krabi, we were in Ao Nang. We took a grab to the pier (650 THB) then spend another 900 THB to get ferry tickets only to find out there was a ferry from Ao Nang. The check in instructions didn’t say we were taking the ferry it just said to go to that pier. Upon arrival to Phi Phi we took a long tail boat to hotel, which broke down for 15 minutes. We kinda got running but took us 45 mins to get there due to the engine problems. The hotel was very underwhelming. We tried to inform who I am guessing is the owner about the communication issues with how to get there but he seemed to care less. The property it’s self was ok, only one restaurant and bar and one menu for lunch and dinner. The restaurant was dated. Our room was very disappointing. AC was weak, room was definitely not as nice as the pictures. WiFi and cell service non existent. The beach is only swimable at high tide, in AM. Few patches of sand, a lot of dead coral and more sea urchins than I’ve ever seen. There are free kayaks so that was nice. Also it is not an 18 minute walk to Tonsai pier as it says, it’s a 30 minute boat ride which cost 200 THB per person each way. When we expressed our being unhappy to the owner/manager he didn’t seem to care or even ask why. We checked out a day early and headed to Phuket because we were so unhappy. For about the same price we got a beach front pool access room right on Surin beach.
Beautiful and authentic (but transport expensive)
A wonderful, beautiful and secluded location that we would definitely recommend. The only issue with the hotel, is that there are only two free shuttles into the main area of Phi Phi per day. If you want to stay out in the main area past 4pm it will cost you 800THB EACH way. On our first day we were totally unaware of this and had to pay almost 3000THB in total purely for transportation to and from the hotel (almost £75)
This property felt so exotic!! A boat ride away from the pier makes it not accessible except from the water. The boat goes back and forth often from the Cove to the pier so you are not stuck here. Lovely staff and super cute bungalow rooms! Snorkeling right out front on the private beach!
Absolutely fantastic!! Restuarant had great thai food, staff was fun and kind. Can't wait to go back again
Upgraded us because booked category wasn’t available. Free use of kayaks and very friendly stuff.
Beautiful bungalow on the beach, free breakfast, canoeing on the shore, watch the sunrise and sunset are a plus, very nice staff, they were kind enough to wait for me and allowed me to check in late. Would definitely book again!
Dealing with The main receptionist was the worst experience i’ve ever had at any hotel my whole life. She was extremely disrespectful, unwelcoming, blamed us for things, and basically shooed us away. Thankfully, the other receptionist who hardly spoke english stepped in and stopped her before she said anything worse or raised her voice anymore. Terrible experience and i highly recommend not going here. It was also isolated and only accessible by boat with nothing else on the island.
Stunning secluded location
Fantastic location and service. Loved it!
Good: Secluded area away from mass tourists. Friendly and helpful staff. Not so good: Rock-hard and small bed. Limited menu at the restaurant. No beach recliners, parasols, or outdoor shower to wash off sand.
Nice private beach, only accessible by taxi boat. Other than checking in / out, you need to pay to get out/come back to the hotel, plan your trip wisely, and the taxi to leave the hotel is only available at a certain time. Going out to the hotel cost us 200THB per person, going back to the hotel with taxi cost 800THB per taxi, and 1200THB after 7 pm. Food at the hotel is overpriced. Breakfast served wasn't very fresh. Though above all, the view from the room was good. However be careful if you are at the corner villa near the walkway, shower room even when the blind if on, is visible by the passerby, The villa was spacious.
Booked two rooms at this property: a cliff villa and a beachfront bamboo hut. The villa was huge, large bed and very comfortable, except for the steep hill. Although they have cart service to drive guests to their villa. Our villa was set back from the beach and has more of a forest view with part ocean view. The bamboo hit was amazing and highly recommended. Cute and right off the beach. However, due to bamboo structure, its doesn't retain the ac very well. The bed in the bamboo hut was a little old and on the small side, but then again you will choose that for the cozy and nostalgic reason. Hotel sits on Rantee beach, which felt like a private beach most of the time. Staff and manager were super nice people and we highly recommend this place. They provide shuttle service from hotel on Tonsai pier, as well day trips. What's unknown is that you can find a shuttle right from Krabi to this beach without having to hustle through Phi Phi town. Just contact the hotel manager for details. This hotel is just the right balance for rustic and modern convenience.
Very beautiful beach. Amazing!
This was a beautiful stay and had the friendliest guest service in all of south Thailand. Just be aware that the ocean can be a brutal mistress if you’re not used to sleeping by her. But overall so breathtakingly beautiful. Great place to really unwind and do nothing. There was a waiter (I think his name was Am?) who was very cheerful and helpful. He was very respectful and even helped my wife with her sea sickness by making her an herbal remedy. Thankyou!
Not worth the money
There’s little to do on this side of the island so I would suggest staying here for 2 nights max. You can hang out on the beach and snorkel, while eating every meal at the resort restaurant. That’s the only place to eat there. We booked one of the nicer, larger rooms at the resort but the AC isn’t powerful enough to keep it cool during the day. So we had to spend our time outside. There also aren’t TVs in the rooms. Alternatively, be prepared to take day trips out to the main town (Tonsai) or other islands. Each boat ride is 200 baht per person each way. The area is beautiful and the staff is amazing. It can just get tired quick when the rooms are too miserable to relax in and there’s limited to do without paying extra.
Awesome stay!
The staff couldn’t have been more helpful, tour around phi phi provided. Beautiful peaceful location & Pelle is so friendly helping with tips for our next destinations. 100% recommend if looking for somewhere totally secluded but easy access to phi phi.
Really nice close to the beach but with some things with room to improve. The staff was rude with one of us by the way she was talking and the superior look during the conversation (like we were wrong about everything and she was right), they cut the electricity of my room because i was using AC when I wasn't in the room (this because it was impossible to be inside when the AC was off and the first night was full of mosquitoes due to the heat of the room) and worse, they lied about it when confronted. The bed was really uncomfortable and didn't smell nice and the boat transfer had a fee which I wasn't informed (even after talking with them by email about the issue).
If you love serenity, peace and quiet away from the rest of the chaotic world. If you love sitting by the beach and watching the boats go by whilst the local fisherman stop in to sell their produce of their day. If you love to just have a host that will take time to ok now you personally and cater and serve you during your holiday, this is the place for you. The cove is certainly not a Hilton whilst the food is basic yet better tasting than some local street and restaurant, your experiwnce with Pelle the host will change your life. Plenty of extra curricular activities available at request but just some peace and serenity with a beer in hand by the beach or in the ocean is all I really needed to recharge coming from the hustle and bustle or a big city. Will definitely return!
We booked a clifftop villas, that are the more expensive ones. These villas are big and spacious, a little dated snd are up a big hill making it an effort going back and forth from the beach/restaurant. After staying a night, we downgraded to a beach villa. These are much smaller and more basic, but perfect for what we wanted. Waking up with a fantastic view of the ocean, stumbling out for a snorkel before breakfast was great. The location is semi remote, there’s a couple of little shops for basics (beer and water) the beach is lovely with some good snorkelling but it does get busy during the day with day tripper boats coming and going, but that seems to happen all over the island. Staff are lovely and friendly including some cute kittens that are very entertaining. Food was good-there was no other restaurant open on the beach when we stayed, but you can venture to resorts in the next coves if you’re up for an adventurous walk, although I wouldn’t attempt this at night! There’s always taxi boats available to take you elsewhere in the island if desired.
Nice scenery
Overall is good except for there's many additional charges. The hotel location is far away from the pier & additional payment upon check in & check out to/from the hotel charged 2 of us 200bath/person per trip total of 800bath....this is not included in the hotel stay charges and only mentioned to you when you check out which makes me dissapointed on this. No speed boat on day trip outing but only long tail boat charged about 1200bath+400bath including of national park fee. Minimum 4pax per boat for a day trip and it's just nice if you're about to away from crowded tour. The boat man we engaged named Lee who's kind and helpful! 1 more thing is, there's only 1 restaurant which operated by the hotel & the food is nice but a little of expensive.
Nice hotel close the beach and friendly staffs
Excellent travel experience with staying this hotel
Private beach, lovely staff & room(s)
Long story short we actually planned to stay near by the cove, however ditched our 1st choice for cove. We started in 1 of the villas for a few days, followed by a bamboo beach hut. Both were awesome! I can’t stress enough how private and remote it felt. Only accessible via a long tail boat just added to the experience.. Would/will I stay there again.. oh yes!!
Beautiful surroundings but not great service!
Beautiful surroundings but the service at the hotel left a lot to be desired! Went into Phi Phi and arranged with the taxi to pick us up at 1.30am which was fine as the hotel claimed to run a 24 hour service. We got to the pier before 1am as to not leave him waiting and ended up having to pay 1500 baht for a taxi at 2am as he never turned up. The next morning we said if to the manager and didn't even get an apology. Being far from the pier (20 minute boat) was a bit of a nuisance so we had to rely on the taxi to bring us. Our villa was at the top of a VERY steep hill. They had a golf buggy to ferry people up and the one time we asked, they said if was really long wait as the guy was busy. No TV in the room and WiFi rarely worked. There was no entertainment in the bar and they seemed to want you out of the bar/ restaurant area at 10pm as they started to prep for breakfast. So on the nights we decided to not go into Phi Phi, we were in our room at 10pm with no entertainment. Although these are the negatives, the surroundings were beautiful. Like, breathtaking.
Very disappointing...Don't stay here
The photos online show an amazing setting with amazing accommodation facilities. unfortunately the accommodation and hotel restaurant was very below par and filthy. The setting is amazing but that's it! We booked for 6 nights but left after 2 as we just could not stay any longer as the room cleanliness was so poor. The problem we has in the 1 room we stayed in was as follows:- 1) Toilet leaking badly 2) Basin leaking badly 3) Shower floor ponding so water did not drain away. 4) bedding was not clean 5) Bead Headboard was dirty, full of stains ....so signs of being cleaned. 6) Walls were stained and full of dirty marks. 7) Water pressure poor 8) Aircon not working 100% 9) Ants in the room. 10) I can actually go on for a lot longer. The restaurant was not any better and the toilet facilities there were disgusting. Another couple actually left before us so I think they are very used to it. We also noticed that the location name used to be called Rantee Cliff Beach Resort. Have a look at the reviews there and you will understand.....this place should not be allowed to be open at all.
Amazing location
Although boat transfers from the main Phi Phi harbour are provided, it wasn’t made clear that these transfers only run at fixed times throughout the day. We therefore got to the main Phi Phi harbour and, despite meeting the hotel representative on arrival, had to wait over an hour with all our luggage before the boat to the hotel would leave. The representative that we met didn’t speak much English and could not answer our questions. He kept saying it would be 10 minutes but the wait kept getting longer. We then spoke to their manager and got told another story. We just did not know what was going on. Communication could have been a lot clearer. That being said, despite the travel hassle it is a great location to stay. We had a bamboo cabin on the beach and it was lovely to wake up to with such an amazing view! We could hear the waves from our bed. The cabin was basic but clean. The restaurant food was tasty and reasonably priced. I would stay again, but would look into the travel arrangements in more detail beforehand.
Great get away
We really enjoyed our stay. The Cove is about a half hour boat trip from the Village and secluded. The beach is OK for swimming and snorkeling, but lots of rocks and coral. Take the day or half day island hoping excursion from the hotel if you like to snorkel.
Beautiful place
Bring mozzie spray and snacks. Lovely location. Be aware of the sea urchins. Food was amazing
Nice Enough Place
The manager and staff here are very warm and welcoming, and made you feel great from the time of arrival. The rooms and restaurant area all have great views of the water it seems like, but the amenities are pretty bare bones. Our room did have an AC, but it only seemed to blow air, not cool air. Needless to say, we got pretty hot in the evenings. They advertised free wifi, but it really only worked if you were right in the main area/restaurant, which made doing things in the room impossible/inconvenient. There isn't a lot do here, but that is the same with most places on Phi Phi island. I would say for the money, and relative to other places we've stayed there, it's not a bad value.
Way too remote and quiet for me
The hotel seems unfinished. It is very remote, you can only get to it and leave by boat. You can't walk to the city or to other hotels. When there is high tide the whole beach disappears. The rooms have no chairs, no tables, no TV. The "amenities" are a single restaurant, a poorly stocked minimart, masks and snorkels, two kayaks for rent, and whatever books people have left there. There is also a very poor Wifi, both the speed and signal strength are mediocre at best. So if you don't want to get in the water, and there's high tide, there is really nothing to do. You can eat or drink, read a book, or pay a lot of money to go to the city, but there's no TV, no board games, no pool, no gym, nothing really to do. I have to say that the staff was amazing. Every single person there was great, specially the younger employees that did everything they could to make our stay as good as possible. I feel like this will be a great place in about a year, but right now it just feels empty and unfinished.
don't go
the hotel is not finished (minimart below the restaurant, rooms, allee...) it's a mess (no soap, no toilet paper in the room, we had to ask for everything), very dirty (garbage left in the allee for 2days...) and the beach is not very nice compared to other beaches in phi phi
Pretty great stay
The beach is amazing, with awesome snorkelling. We stayed in one of the sea view bungalows and unfortunately, the group in the bungalow stayed up all night talking. Because the walls are made of bamboo, we could hear everything they were saying and didn’t get any sleep. The mattress was also rock solid. In saying that, the overall aesthetic of the place is beautiful.
Don't waste your money on this hotel
This hotel was the most expensive one of our entire trip and it has obviously seen better days. From piles of garbage and detritus that litter the grounds, to the unkempt look of everything from the restaurant to the landscaping, this was a huge disappointment. No question that the beach setting is stunning. But the deferred maintenance is evident everywhere. The staff at the front desk was surly and rather unwelcoming compared to our other Thailand hotels. The photos online are not really representative of the hotel's condition. Even the current manager said the 5 partners from Bangkok who own it can't keep it in decent condition. The wait staff and manager were friendly and helpful, but they obviously had their hands full, trying to make the best of a situation that needs more money to maintain it. WiFi barely worked anywhere. NO amenities, not even a bar of soap on the bathroom sink. Expensive to get into town by boat alone.
Must stay for those with a few days on Koh Phi Phi
Do not get crammed in with the rest of the tourist and budget travelers on the main area of Tonsai. Just hop on a longtail and quickly find yourself in a secluded area perfectly carved out for your stay. We went on our Honeymoon and everything was as pictured. Food was great! Was smart and only ate local cuisine. I was worried about the limited food choices being a distance from the shops and restaurants of Tonsai.. well only one hotel restaurant, but was amazed with each plate and the view. Great view from the room and the restaurant!
Not So Practical Transportation - Only Water
We stayed in this hotel for two nights in December 2016. The idea of a bangalow at the beach is great, but not so practical. The only way to get to hotel from the main pier is through water. The hotel provides a free pick-up service, which is always late (according to other hotel guests too), and it kept us waiting at the pier for over 30 minutes. If you need to go to the main pier and all the shopping/bar/restaurants in that area, you need a private taxi boat which costs 800 Bhats (about $25US) in daytime, but there is no limit when you want to get back at night; could be 5000Bhats (about $150) since you have no other choices! And be aware that the boats drop you off 40feet away from the sand and you have to walk/swim in the water - 3-4ft or deeper. Go there is you want to stay at your room, hotel restaurant, relax at the beach for all day long.
Too far from pier
Takes $30 to commute each way. Rooms are far from being comfortable.
Nice and cool
The experience was cool, nice little place right on the beach, wifi worked decent, and the room is cozy for being made of bamboo.
Nice place to be tom hanks
This placeia really nice I'd you want to be almost alone. however activity are limited and boat taxi quite expensive to conr back in the evening
Terrible hotel close to an abandoned beach.
First of all I have to say it was a hotel of the first choice when we started to plan our trip in early May 2017. Beautiful view and restaurants and a nightlife nearby... Reality is different: we've booked a last available room (actually superior villa) via Expedia. We were the only inhabitants there!!!! There are two "eating places". Nothing similar to restaurant. One was closed, another served a buffet. Stuff was unexpectedly rude from the very beginning. We asked to clean a bathroom, they send a worker, but it became even more dirty when she(actually he) left. Also they hardly could speak English. Transportation to any place just with a water taxi ( price is almost double comparing with the same way back)
The View Alone is Breathtaking!!! A must stay
Ive traveled to Thailand many, times 4 in the last 12 month alone, and only ever done day trips to Phi Phi Island. I can not recommend this accommodation enough! especial if your a young couple like us Its a bungalow on small stretch of beach in pure paradise. Waking up the ocean lapping at your bungalow bamboo steps. The staff also make this place amazing its small in size and not many bungalows so you become interment with the staff and they are so helpful! Beware it is located away from the main entry or main part off phi phi, 15-20 min small wooden boat ride. but well worth it to be so isolated in paradise.
Remote gem of a hotel
A lovely stay in a remote and quiet hotel. The rooms and area are amazing. It's very secluded only way to the main town it's a tough hike or a boat which is expensive if there is no check in and check out boat running. It makes the area what it is though. Only downside is the price of food is much higher because it's so remote but worth it!
Beautiful location
A fantastic stay at a beautiful resort. The location is remote, quiet and only accessible by boat which gives it it's charm. The views, the rooms and the beach is ideallic and amazing. Free kayak and snorkels were good! Great walk up to the viewpoint although challenging which added to the fun! Service was ok and food was expensive. Don't stay here if you want to get into town it's not easy to get back and expensive!
Amazing view, awesome beach great kitchen!
The location of the hotel is far from center but this is beauty of it. My room was 3m to beach with stuning view. The best part of room is fron side fully window so you always have amazing view.
Terrible place
I don't usually give bad reviews to any hotel but this one was simply the worst I've seen ever. First of all it isn't clear that to reach this hotel you need to take an additional boat ride to the hotel, this hotel is located in the farthest beach of the island and although it is very calm and quiet it has basically nothing to offer and not nearly as pretty as the other beaches of the island. Second of all, none of the hotel staff were friendly or welcoming at all, neither helpful. The A/C of our room never worked and after waiting for a long time for help they finally changed us to another room that didn't have a functional A/C. We ended up checking out and changing to another hotel and losing our money, it wasn't worth it to stay there. Finally the shuttle service to the pier (where most of the main hotels are located) is only available twice a day, so we had to pay a taxi boat to take us to the main pier to find a new hotel.
great place!
the private bungalow i stayed in, was amazing! the staff were all so friendly and helpful. food was good too. beach was raked every morning, and lovely!
Make sure you get a beachfront hut!
The staff at this resort really made it special and made up for some of the shortcomings. We stayed in ocean view bamboo huts up the hill. The location just doesn't compare to the gorgeous beachfront ones. They definitely appear to be worth that extra little bit. I don't know if the ones on the cliff (to the left of the resort when looking from the ocean) are beachfront or ocean view. Worth checking... They looked great too. Much better than the hillside ones (behind the beachfront ones). The beach itself is beautiful. I've been to Phi Phi before and hated it because we were only around the main pier area. This beach and resort made all the difference!!
Secluded, quirky and on the beach
The Rantree resort is perfect for those looking for a picturesque, secluded location. The bamboo beach huts are quirky and offer you the chance to live like Swiss Family Robinson. The downside is that all noises outside the hut can be heard inside and they get very warm so when the electricty goes out at night it gets very warm inside. There is one bar/ restraunt/ reception area. The food was good, I recommend the papaya or chashew nut salad. The service by the staff felt a little half hearted at times making it feel easier to go back to the hut in the evening instead of staying in the bar to enjoy a drink. It is worth noting that you need a boat to go anywhere. The hotel provides two courtesy times at 8am and 12pm only.
Very nice place. Right next to the beach.
Very nice hotel. Fantastic place. Really friendly staff. We should have spent more days there...
lovely beach, nice rooms, but limited services
Beware that the Expedia location details are INCORRECT. The hotel is not a 10 minute walk from Tonsai - it is a 20 minute boat ride and on the opposite side of the island. Aside from that the hotel was good, but would honestly have expected more for the cost eg. no spa services that we saw or were made aware of. Only 2 boats per day from the hotel back to Tonsai, otherwise you have to pay expensive taxi boat costs. Only one small bar next to the hotel. Great if you're looking for a quiet retreat. Not if you're looking for party.
Amazingly beautiful
The hotel is a quick long tail boat ride round the main area of Phi Phi. Unbelievable views of the ocean the rooms were the most beautiful we have stayed in so far in Thailand. It allows for great piece and quiet after a long and loud night of partying. It has its own restaurant, a market, and a bar all next door. A group of us, all in our late twenties, who all enjoy going out, stayed there and had no issues with taking the long tails back. It's also perfect If you're looking for more of a family or romantic setting. The staff, like most of Thailand, was also amazing!
Absolutely amazing beach
Phi phi island is no longer a secluded place off the map. It's over crowded with tourist . This bungalow was off the beaten path and was perfect to get away from the party scene . It's basically it's own beach about a 30 minute boat ride from the port. The staff were so friendly and the bungalow was just right. Was not fancy but the view and peace of the beach were over the top. The beach has 1 local restaurant that was fantastic and a small convenience store. I can't wait to go back.
Lovely beach and best food in Thailand.
I have to disagree with some of the harsh reviews. We had a lovely stay at Rantee Cliff Beach Resort. Granted it is far from the main town and if you don't catch the hotel long boat it does cost £16 one way. But it is a tranquil and beautiful beach. We arrived having booked the wrong room, they gave us hut 10 which is not the best location, when we complained they moved us to a beach front room free of charge. The best thing about this place though is the food. Best food of the entire holiday.

Very private and secluded. Perfect for honeymooners. Only 1 restaurant choice but the food is good. Plates are about $7-10 usd. Drinks are $7. Not a place for solo travelers or people looking to party.
