All was great, except the beach is no longer accessible as it is now part of a Marine Protected Area. Also, like most of the Philippines, corals in the area are badly damaged by dynamite fishing, and reefs are severely overfished.
Old and rusty
We had a nice ocean view it was a nice room . They helpeded us arrange our diving trips. A private beach. They did get a little too strict regarding entering the water . It was hard to walk on hot sand to get to snorkeling area. But we loved the place.
Nice view staff unfriendly especially in the restaurant hot tub broke that was main reason I booked that place back was hurting they never told me it was broke
Lovely view, friendly staff. Accommodating to early dives with food options.
Beautiful setting, fantastic staff, all you need for a relaxing switch-off. Stunning sunset views from our room. Facilities all quite rustic, but this added to the charm of the place. The restaurant was a cut above the usual nearby, with good Italian options and great cocktails. The property is right next to a fantastic area for snorkelling. The staff are all well trained and happy to help. Would definitely recommend
Beautiful resort with great location and staff
This place is amazing! The resort is even pretty than the pics. The location is awesome (the best on the island), the landscaping is beautiful, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The owner, and Italian guy named Andrea, even introduced himself to us. We stayed in one of the 6 rooms buildings on the top floor and had an amazing view of the ocean all around us, so you don't even have to be in one of the individual cabanas to enjoy the view. The breakfast that is included is pretty extensive and delicious, the bed was comfortable, and the AC worked great. Note that there are a lot of steps to go up and down to get to all of the rooms and the restaurants and I don't believe there is any handicap access. So, if you can't climb stairs easily I would stay elsewhere.
Beautiful and affordable
Amazing place!
Personable Italian owners with best restaurant
On-site Italian couple very responsive, personable, resort owners. Staff was first rate. H/E we needed to switch rooms to get awesome fast internet service initially - then typhoon Ursala knocked it out completely. Management coped well with typhoon Ursala direct hit. Room was small and ac barely adequate. Generator power kept the ac going except for a few hour long interruptions. However we lost hot water after the typhoon. Private beach but no swimming pool. Best restaurant on the island. Red ants were a problem on the property after the typhoon.
Nice resort to stay in. Private beach to relax in. Breakfast was very limited.
So nice. Quiet, safe and the staff is amazing. Andreas and Sylvia were so attentive in making our stay a very memorable one. Thank you all. Lex
Great stay
The rooms were spacious and comfortable, really good WiFi, great shower, friendly staff and good food/service. Tepanee beach is lovely with good snorkelling (just be careful of the sea urchins as you need to wade out a bit first) and plenty of sun loungers. Very much enjoyed our stay and even extended a bit longer than we had originally planned!
My husband and I had the most relaxing stay at Tepanee Beach Resort. The staff were exceptional, the room and view - absolutely spectacular. Our room came with its own cat, total bliss for a mad cat lover. Our 2 weeks went by so slowly, most holidays seem to fly, right? The locals made our stay, definitely a third world way of living and not for the faint hearted traveler, but eye contact, a smile and a nod of recognition will bring such joy to a local and warm your heart, we never stopped smiling. An absolute joy, we'll be going back to Tepanee Beach Resort for sure - already planning our next trip. My only advice, check the weather, we were there in November - turns out it was the end of the wet season, very humid with the occasional shower, which for a drought sticken Australian, was bliss. We walked in the rain, which the locals found amusing, but understood when we explained how dry it is at home. My husband and I have decided it is the most relaxed, beautiful holiday we have ever had. We have travelled through Asia many times, so, this is a really big statement from us.
Great location few minutes walk to all great dive shops and restaurants. Excellent snorkeling on their Private beach. I stayed at three other places on the island , their water to shower with was barely noticeable of salinity . The other places were three times as much . I will definitely go back the next chance I get .
They didn’t have bandaids. I got blisters on my feet and they didn’t have bandaids. Who doesn’t have bandaids?! The beach it’s on is really crappy and the location was far from anything good. Smelled funny. Would not recommend if you plan to go diving on this island
If your disabled in any way move on
We went to Malapascu for a vacation and it began as a nightmare , Hotel didn’t disclose that in order to get anywhere around the property you would have to climb very steep stone stairways to get anywhere ,The Cottage was over looking the Ocean, The Room Ac wasent working enough to cool the room , The flooring was flimsy almost felt like I was going to fall through , We asked for a refund as we had to leave as I could not walk around this place as the stairs were a nightmare , Our bags were brought to the door step and that was when we had to walk up the shore line to a Another place that really made our trip begin , That’s when we met Andy the tour guide ,Ask for him when you arrive , Great local that helped us get our luggage to Another hotel called Legends , great place , Arainged our Illiand hopping ,
Great location with their own privare beach. Room a little dated and air conditioning did not work.
The hotel is in a great location with a great view. The room was clean and staff friendly and professional. The floor is made of wood and is not solid. Creaks and gives when you walk on it. The lighting in the rooms is very minimal making it difficult to read at night. The ceiling fan was noisy and unbalanced. Overall it was a good experience and was worth the price of the room. The complimentary breakfast was very good.
Our stay was very comfortable and the breakfast was very good.
Perfect couples stay in the cottages
Booked this for a newlywed couple traveling with us. I asked the staff to make it special for them, and they went overboard. Hand arranged flower art on the bed each night. Thoughtful messages left each day. They were great. This resort is one good dining experience away from fantastic. If the food was better on property, you could stay there and never leave!
Such a beautiful property! We had an amazing time doing some diving in Malapascua and the Tepanee beach resort was the perfect place to stay. This type of resort in the USA would be about 4x more expensive, but in Malapascua you get awesome amenities at a great price. The views from the room were amazing and the staff were all so nice and helpful! We enjoyed food at the beach bar which was amazing! They even helped me arrange transport to/from Cebu City (boat/van round trip which all went incredibly smoothly) and even helped us take care of some laundry needs (we were traveling for 2 weeks and this was much appreciated). Our only complaint was that we didn’t stay longer and enjoy more of the resort! We already have plans to come back and bring more of our family!
Really Good
Probably one of the best places to stay on the island but a 3 star at best any where else. Private beach doesn't have swimming or a hammock which was disappointing. You do a lot of walking up and down outdoor stairs. It's quiet and if you get an ocean view cottage it's relaxing. No TV or phone in the rooms plus water pressure not great. Everything else was good. Snorkel gear for the day 150P, If you are not coming for SCUBA really not much else to do. North beach is the only one worth going to.
We hope to go back!
We had picked this resort based on the photos and reviews and it didn’t disappoint. We even had the bungalow used in the ads! Great restaurants, friendly and hospitable staff, snorkeling off private beach. and beautiful weather. Highly recommend!
It was good. I stayed in superior cottage. Some of them are not panoramic ocean view but just partially. The location is very good and private beach is very beatiful and calm. One day I catch a very big roach in the room.
Internet sucredit. Food was outrageously expensive
Nice view with some drawbacks
Our reservation was completely screwed up. We had to get on the phone and call the contact number given me by the reservationist that I talked to at Hotels.com when I made the reservation and they knew nothing about it, yet I had a confirmation number. The location is beautiful and very peaceful. The overall condition of the property needs some work however. The jacuzzi water was dirty and smelled and was not hot. The restaurant has a nice location and the all Italian menu is good but a little diversity would have been nice. They also have a fly problem and a few fly lights would have really helped. I found the staff to be less than hospitable and kind of put out when you asked for anything. I got rained on in my bed on the first night of a thunderstorm. The ceiling leaked. I was awakened all night by a local lizard that keep running around on our wall inside making this weird clicking sound. The water coming out of the shower and faucet I know was mixed with salt water as it left a weird sticky kind of feel on my skin and in my hair. The wifi didn't work but we were smart enough to have bought a globe pocket wifi. We thought we were getting a ocean view cottage as advertised but that wasn't the case. The cottages were cute and quaint however and located nicely on top of a hill. But being on a hill means one thing, lots of steps. The steps also were made of local coral which looked nice but in my mind a huge liability if you fell. And it would have been easy to do.
Clean and Comfortable place to stay in Malapascua
The Tepanee Beach Resort is a comfortable, clean resort near the diving activities on Malapascua Island. They have an excellent mediterranean restaurant and they are right next door to an excellent Italian restaurant. The hotel provides excellent service and has its own private beach.
Lovely secluded beach resort
Gorgeous tropical beach hideaway, it's even more beautiful than the pictures if that's possible. Would love to have stayed longer. Tiny sun-drenched private beach with its own cafe-bar is a magical spot. Staff are kind and friendly. The room, its verandah and its setting and outlook were simply a dream. If you want a tropical beach escape this is THE place.
Tempanee beach stay
Myself and my boyfriend stayed here for 4 days in February 2017. Was a nice stay and I must say the transport to and from Cebu was fault less, ontime, staff where polite and well worth the money it was only us to on the whole journey. The hotel bed was comfy enough but the floor boards where creeky and some parts uneven so you kept catching your toe! On one morning there was a cockroach in the bathroom but I suppose it is to be expected when you are in hot countries like that. The island was reasonably quite anyway but you couldn't hear anything from the room which was nice when you where getting up at 4.30 to swim with the thresher sharks. Don't expect to have a decent shower, once I figured out how to use it we for hot water but the power was rubbish just a trickle cane out, pleased I cut my hair off before I went!!! The staff where so friendly so massive thank you to them. Over all we had a nice stay I think it is a little over priced however and probably would choose somewhere else next time to go.
Great for couples
Great views and location. Super quiet and relaxing.
Great quiet location
Located on the tip of the island it's a great place to see the sunset. The rooms are decorated very nicely and the grounds are well kept. The beach is a little rocky but the water is crystal clear.
Very Peaceful Place to Stay
I spent there for 9 days and it turned out that it was one of the most peaceful and quiet holidays in my life! It is an easy walking-distance to the small village centre where you can find local shops and places to eat in a Filipino way.
Relaxing stay
It was a short relaxing stay . Great sea view . Room comfortable , staff very friendly and helpful. Love the mango shake. Air con noisy , needs servicing . Overall , it was a relaxing stay . Will come back again . Thank you
Great Base Camp for Malapascua Island
Great place - probably the nicest on Malapascua - with private beach and access to restaurants and dive shops.
Great beach, full ocean view room is recommended
The Tapanee private beach is the best in the island, you can take your snorkel and see some corals going straight from the beach. We first booked the partial ocean view room and were a bit disappointed, then we upgraded to the ocean view deluxe room and this was really great - amazing view, ocean breeze, nice balcony. If you can - take this room!
Hotel & island perfect for couples
I did not do enough research about Cebu & Malapascua (my fault) so I will start off by saying that if you're coming from Cebu, plan for at least 6 hours from Cebu City to arrive at the resort. I also suggest to stay here at least a few days since the trip is a bit long. I took a solo trip here, which was fun, but this resort and entire island are suited to couples. Now the resort, it was great. The staff was nice but didn't really do anything that went above and beyond the call of duty. The restaurant paired with the resort was alright, but nothing to write home about. I arrived after sunset (not recommended, as you must take a "private boat") so I went to bed early to catch the sunrise. To see the sunrise, you need to walk about 10 minutes to the eastern part of the island. Fantastic. I returned to the resort and went to the private beach owned by the resort for an early morning swim, which was fantastic, I had the small beach area to myself. Breakfast at the same restaurant was much better than the dinner and checkout was painless. If I was to return to Malapascua, I would stay here again, but I would only come back if I was not a solo traveler. Please if you are going solo, don't come to this place, you'll feel sad haha. But the hotel itself was great.
Not worth it
the room was small and u need to go up hill just to go to ur room.. the view was blocked by all the trees. the aircon was not working. the water was not consistent. the staff were ok. the beach wasn't as nice as it look in the picture.
Beautiful beachfront bungalows
Fabulous location with their own beach. wonderful staff, crystal clear water, peace and quiet. Worth paying for the deluxe beachfront bungalows if you want to hang around and relax. If you're mainly there for diving, all accommodation is nice.
Beautiful resort, well decorated rooms, nice bathroom, a/c, mini fridge, balcony. Nice beach area and beach bar. Great restaurant attached. Very friendly service. Matresses not the best.
Great place to stay!
Great place to stay in Malapascua. Tepanee is a gem hidden at the west corner of Bounty Beach, just a few meters away from the port area. We took the budget room without aircon, but didn't need it anyway. The ceiling fan does the work just fine. Bungalows with ocean view are available too. Amazing place to catch the sunset! But if you don't get one, there's always the beach-side sun beds right next to the hotel restaurant. Downsides? There's free wifi but I never managed to connect. Hotel phones would be great too, so guests won't need to go down the reception area to ask for extra towels, etc. Kinda nit-picking already, but once they finish constructing the other rooms, the place would be better. Overall, definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the island.
Staff must have been watching the World Cup not ar
Did not get the room I paid for the staff still did not refund the difference in price to me the scuba diving was perfect. Just had some issue where I laid my head while there
Beautiful hotel
Private beach with beautiful blue water, close to dive shop that I was diving from and a Angelino's (best place to eat on the island). The room had a partial sea view. The fan and AC helped cope with mid day heat.
Nice private beach
Nice cottage. Price is affordable for lodging. Food and drinks a bit pricy.
Construction work behind the cottage
Malapascua Island is a beautiful island and I imagine that for most of Tepanee Beach Resort's customers they have a pleasant experience. Unfortunately I was placed in an aircon cottage directly in front of a construction site. The noise began around 8AM almost every morning and lasted for most of the day. The relaxing, peaceful experience I had hoped for did not come to fruition. The island is well-worth a visit; it has the most beautiful beaches I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Tepanee Beach Resort was the only disappointment.
Best place to stay in Malapascua
Really enjoyed my stay there. Friendly staff, really nice views (not to mention the sunset!!). I do want to go back and stay there again. I do recommend!
Nice resort, but no sea view
Resort is not on the main beach, but has it's own small private beach. Which is good as basically only guests are walking inside resort area, but no street vendors or other people. Upon arrival, finding the hotel is easy, it's just 10 mins walking from where boats arrive. Room is quite comfortable, nicely designed, but in the bathroom there is only soap, no shampoo or toothpaste, have to bring your own. Also no TV in the room, but it's totally not a problem for a beach resort. No possibility to book sea view rooms, but garden view is also pretty nice and relaxing. Hotel doesn't provide any dining, next to it there is Italian-owned restaurant, where food is good, but expensive, so it might be good idea to walk around the i9sland and find some cheaper food. Internet is a little slow, but I think it is due to remoteness of Malapascua. Staff is nice and friendly, you can clearly see that it's European-trained. Water on the beach is crystally clear, you can see small stones which are 1,5 m deep!
Super zum schnorcheln, man sieht immer Baby Haie.
Perfekt!
I want to room that located beside beach. My ask was not allowed, so a little bit disapponted. Generally speaking, I was satisfied.
welcoming staff, the luxury rooms have a nice view, the wifi works well, the room is clean and the breakfast is good.
Super friendly people - breakfast was ok but no more - coffee was just colored whater Bed quality was good - just the floor from our cabana was loose and quite noisy to use at night
Wonderful
Wonderful stay in Tepanee in Malapascua. Our favorite place un the Philippines. Great food too.

Great resort! Comfortable room, good breakfast buffet. Best part of this place is the beach area with loungers, and great snorkeling right off shore. The hotel amenities list a pool, but its a small dipping pool in front of the spa, not very appealing and we didn't see anyone use it. However, a pool isn't really needed with such great access to the beach swimming.
