Hotel Tabachin-quirky, cheap, decent location.
We chose this property because it was close to the ADO bus depot, had a 9.2 rating and it was cheap. The owner was friendly and accommodating. The room decor was quirky and almost retro (lots of old colorful Mexican tiles). We never used the pool. The bed was not very comfortable but for the price I can’t really complain too much. Location is hidden behind the Hotel Santa Fe down a rough patch of road. For the price, it’s probably an 8.5 out of 10.
We enjoyed our stay! Everything was perfect. We were so close to playa zicatela and near many restaurants.
Beautiful room and property
What a beautiful room and property. I can understand how some may have issues finding it but we didn’t have any trouble. Everyone that worked there was extremely friendly. I appreciate that they stored our luggage after checkout
Tabachin is a nice property a little removed (3 minute walk) from all the bluster of Avenida de Morro. Great coastal views from the 5th-story rooftop deck. Resident managers Blanca and Pablo are very friendly and helpful. Relaxing place, nothing fancy, you can prepare your own meals.
I really enjoyed my stay here. My room was clean, comfortable, and very spacious, and the owners are very friendly.
Is not what they showed in the system, completely different.
So quiet plase, close to a .ain walking av. With a lot of places to eat and have a drink.
Location is great. My husband and I loved the authenticity of the hotel. Its located just off the main road to provide a little privacy and quiet. There is a nice little kitchen and they also provide drinking water!!! Would definitely stay there again.
El Tabachin hotel is a classic gem to experience . It has all the classic looks of a Mexican heritage place with mosaics and tiles made last century. Their inner court yard is beautiful. its swimming pool is a little oasis within the classic place surrounded by local plants. and flower.. it's enchanting! It is on street away from the main happening on the Zicatela strip (5km of waterfront beach). It's 2 terraces gives you one of the best views to the beach... It is mesmerizing.
Hotel Tabachin was a good experience. The property is beautiful, well situated and the rooms are big but they need an upgrade, mostly the bathroom but it was clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
The property is hidden and you will have to walk through cobblestone and dirt road uphill. If you don’t mind it shouldn’t be a problem. It’s a very small path and many taxis will not go in all the way you’ll need to specify that you’d like to get dropped off at the entrance, especially if you are traveling with luggage. The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous, it’s intimate, quiet and they have wonderful amenities. I would definitely stay again and again. It is lovely and the lady who takes care of it is extremely helpful and sweet. The surrounding area offers a lot of restaurants, nightclubs and shops all easy to walk to. If you are interested in the beach, you’ll have to take taxis as the main beach is not for recreational swimming. The popular beaches for swimming are a short taxi drive away. Overall, amazing experience. We stayed in Paul’s room and we are a family of 4. AC, fridge and shower worked perfect.
Secluded and tucked away but they can call you a taxi. Right around the corner from the beach. Super nice lady that will greet you. Pack for the HEAT! The room has ac but they will turn it off if you’re gone for awhile.
This was such a beautiful hotel, looking forward to booking this place again in the future! Blanca and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We loved our stay and highly recommend!
Little Oasis by the Sea.
Great location, pleasant courtyard with swimming pool, open kitchen area with BBQ , nice view from the penthouse and from the roof top, full size kitchen in the studio room. The hosts are weary kind and helpful.
Such a hidden gem, great ocean view on the rooftop terrace and from the room, description and pictures are accurate, very spacious room and very beautiful property. Staffs are very friendly and welcoming as well
I LO~OVE this place! Large rooms with high ceilings, aged wood, old stone floors, and old Spanish tile work, a leafy courtyard with big old wood tables and ceiling fans in shaded areas, and a stone fountain – as well as a common rooftop patio to watch the sunset. There are only seven suites, so every one has windows facing three directions, I think they all have balconies, too. It's not on the strip, so quieter, but a farther walk to get to everything, including an uneven gravel road/path that runs behind the Santa Fe for 100m to get to the main road. The people who run it are awesome – particular shout-outs to Mike and Blanca - the rooms are HUGE and come with a functional kitchen and ours had a view of the sunset from the front windows and the balcony. I am a writer, and would love to go back here long-term to just sit in that quiet courtyard under the slow-moving fans and write to the sound of the fountain softly trickling everyday. Next time I’m in PE, I know where I’m staying.
Unique tala vera tiled property. With an interesting history.. Blanca and her husband do a great job of taking care of guests.
Characteristic place in handy location
Hotel and staff were amazing. Easy to work with and very attentive. Near zicatela beach and all the restaurants and bars. It is behind a different hotel so there is a bit of a walk but not to far. I highly recommended staying here
Todo muy muy bien. Muchas gracias!
Ansonsten top Unterkunft!
The rooms are spotless, and the kitchen in the room is great. The highlight is the terrace with an incredible view of the sea and the sunset. Every evening, we were set up there to enjoy the sunset. The pool is splendid, surrounded by beautiful plants. The service is impeccable; we even extended our stay by a night! Nothing to complain about. Regarding the comments about the street being somewhat “unwalkable,” it’s nothing. It’s just a sandy street with some palm debris, nothing more! We’d do it again, and we’d come back :-)
A beautiful property with incredible decoration and a very nice garden and common areas. Excellent service. Hidden from street view.

Getaway Oasis
I booked Tabachin last minute the day before we were scheduled to stay. It was mainly out of necessity as there were three of us traveling and we needed two beds. However, the pictures of the property looked quite beautiful, so I decided to take a chance. I'm so glad I did - Puerto Escondido and Tabachin ended up being the highlight of my two week trip to Mexico. Tabachin is tucked away behind the Hotel Santa Fe out of site, so it is very quiet and very safe. The pool is a little undermaintenanced but still beautiful and refreshing to swim in. What I loved most were the neighbors - most of Tabachin's residents are retired couples, and the occaisonal middle aged bachelor. Everyone was very kind and friendly, a joy to talk to, and made me feel safe and welcome! My friends and I are in our 30s but we loved the chill community and would prefer that over a bunch of wild party people in their 20s. The proprietor does not speak much english so be sure to know a little basic espanol. We loved our room's unique charm - I've never encountered archtiecture quite like it! And the roof is the perfect spot to catch the sunset. The one con is the air conditioning didn't work that well but opening the many windows allowed for a nice air flow so it wasn't that big of a deal but if you run hot you should keep this in mind. Overall I'm so glad I found this place and I hope to return in the future!
