Value for money option near the hospital

Hotel is in a convenient location for the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Restaurants and cafes on King St, Newtown are a 10–15-minute walk away. There are also dining options and a mini supermarket just up the road. Our room was spacious, quiet, clean and reasonably well-appointed with a writing desk, chair and sofa. Bathroom had both standard and rain shower attachments. Bed was a tad soft. Parking is available for $35 per night, but it's a tight squeeze due to the spacing of pillars in the garage.

This property was about a 15 minute walk to kings street. Many options on that street for food and drinks. The pool was interesting to find and get to. The room was big and clean. The bed was a little too soft. Front staff needs to be more knowledgeable about the area and parking

Good location to Sydney Uni.

Room was very comfortable. Room service was delicious and staff lovely.

Convenient handy to hospital

Checked in at 2pm on Wednesday 26th March in a twin room for 2 nights. The check in experience was terrible, the male staff checking us in was cool, indifferent and should be working in customer service as we felt very unwelcome. They also neglected to tell us the compendium was accessed though a QR code with the key cards so we had to search the room for it, ring reception for the Wifi access and missed many of the services as we didn’t work out the QR code till checking out. On Thursday 27th we went out from 8am to 2pm with the sign on our door to have the room serviced. When we came back it wasn’t done so we figured it wasn’t going to happen and wanted a rest. At 3pm when we we’re resting a knock on the door woke us wanting to service the room. Definitely the worst Rydges have stayed at won’t be back. Interesting that I’m. Am a Rydges member but Last Minute was cheaper.

Overall experience is good, but the WiFi is not that stable and fast

God room size

Good property but a bit tired needs a refurbishment. Didn’t like the way the sheets on the bed were always crumpled and air conditioning unit didn’t work very well. Front desk staff great as they let me borrow a charger as I had left mine behind !

Great customer service. Delicious coffee and food at breakfast. Our neighbour had left half-eaten food outside their room when we checked in and it was still there when we left. Dated, dirty, chipped paint on walls. Parking situation is pretty limited, extremely small spots and expensive.

Overpriced for what it is

Besides someone’s dirty undies on the floor when arriving and also not being able to find the booking upon arrival the stay was ok

I had to be moved 3 times for basics not being available, including curtain on window???. Each room was disgusting and dusty. One has a coke bottle under the tv unit with cobwebs over it. Would never stay here again especially given the pricy rates. When complained about 3rd move was only offered $35 refund for parking. Not impressed

The hotel staff was generally nice, but the stay was not. Because the WIFI did not work, they switched me to another room, where it also did not work. I told them that I had an important online meeting and would have to change hotels if the WIFI was not working. They offered me the use of the conference room but abruptly cancelled without notice because a paying customer asked for the room and my meeting was nearly ruined. In addition, the air conditioning was not working when I arrived. They eventually repaired that, but, in sum, they are not very good at meeting the needs of their customers. they do not keep their commitments, and I have no intention of ever staying their again..

Cleanliness plus good service. Internet access poor, facilities for having food heated or crokery and cutlery is inconvenient.

The airconditioning system can't cool the room and the parking area is to narrow

When greeted at check in, the lady was miserable and customer service whatsoever. When asked where to park she just said the basement. I asked how do we get there and she said down the driveway. The room smelt awful, had to open the window as soon as we walked in. The air conditioning was hardly working and it was so hot in the room.

Being a returned guest, I expected better.... Firstly, the toilet in the room was not cleaned, and they had to gives a new room. The water pressure in the shower was poor at best. Restaurant was NOT open for lunch or dinner, Room service was NOT available not even for a coffee. Overall experience was POOR at best. Very disappointed with Rydges and Expedia for the recommendation. Will be looking elsewhere very disappointed.

Our issue with this hotel is that for the whole duration of our stay (4 nights) the wifi and tv did not work. We told staff and they came up but couldn't fix it. So very disappointed to be in a room with neither of these facilities. The rooms are a good size and we were happy with the actual room, though the rest of the property is aged. But in this day and age, tv's and wifi should be working.

That the pool was reserved for a private function. We booked Rydges Camperdown for that reason .

Rydges always accommodating of requests and friendly. Could use microwave in the room though.

Very convenient for access to RPA and to have the parking.

It's super convenient location wise. Room was clean. There was one problem though, apparently there is a Q code to access all information about your stay and the usual info found in a folder. Fine, but you have to tell the punters it exists and how to access it! Same with the wi-fi password.

Stayed 2 nights, I booked a room with 2x double beds but recieved a room with one bed, front desk told me it was a booking error through the website I used however there was nothing I could do to fix this. They did move me to another room almost 40 minutes later with two single beds, one of which was broken and swayed from side to side and the room was not clean. The bathroom was dirty with hair everywhere, uncleaned toilet and coffee cups had been used and not cleaned (and this room was not what I paid for). Housekeeping only replaced towels after first night and nothing else. We didnt even have a hand towel or tea & coffee. When having breakfast our food items were cleared from the table whilst we were sitting at the table, even after I mentioned that we were still eating. It felt like we were being rushed along even though we had not been there long and it was almost empty. I was also charged twice for parking. Wifi did not work either. I usually stay in Darling Harbour and have stayed in many Rydges previously but would not stay here again.

The location is convenient, the rooms well presented and the staff very pleasant but the car park is a dreadful rabbit warren.

Convenient to our show at Enmore Theatre. Room was spacious and very clean. Only downside was there was no information on room service or amenities in the room. Otherwise a very pleasant stay.

Rooms presented as very neat and tidy. Bathrooms were also very clean. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious. Air con was a bit noisy, during sleep.

Comfortable hotel Close to RPA hospital for specialist visit

Close to Deus Cafe and King St

Check in was smooth, the staff had everything prepared for our check in. The room however was pretty basic, and it was 2 doors away from the pool access door which could be heard into our room when it was banged closed after every use.

Again, another enjoyable stay. Staff very helpful and accommodating to my requirements.

Location for me to visit my daughter was excellent.

Easy to get around

A family of 4 staying in 1 room with 2 cups 2 mugs 2 glasses , 2 wine glasses and 2 teaspoon. Not a single butter knife or fork.

The staff were very accommodating and the location was convenient for RPA. The room was huge and quiet. The bed however needs upgrading.... on one side i was constantly feeling like i was rolling off. I think the side wall of the bed was stuffed. The shower was the worst i have EVER used. It was like a watering can being poured over my head. No water pressure at all. Finally the blanket that was supplied had seen better days. Was frayed and thread bare. I thought Rydges was synonymous with quality. It was quite disappointing. I should finally mention the quality of the meals and the extent of the menu in the restaurant was no better than a local pub. I really expected more.

Surprising 1) no milk capsules in fridge to make a coffee in the morning 2) toilet not fully clean 3) no hot chocolate as part of complementary (not a huge deal, but i just felt like a hot chocolate - again no milk capsules in fridge!) Great little hotel in the perfect location. Walkable to Newtown and the Manning Bar for concerts.

Beds were comfortable and clean, the restaurant left a little to be desired in terms of appearance and offering but King St is a close walk so no biggie

RPA visit

If you have a RPA appointment, this hotel is perfectly placed, a brief walk . We were in the disability room, so the bathroom room was extra spacious. The room was well set out with plenty of space. The bed was huge and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and polite. The only negatives - the room was a bit knocked around and there is not much choice for dinner at night close by.

It is a nice hotel and the staff is nice, but they don’t have internet at this hotel. it is serviced off site somehow and it doesn’t work properly. We spent hours with the front desk trying to get it to work with no luck. I was there for 3 nights and no internet. I feel like a major hotel chain should have it on site as this is a very important amenity every hotel should have

The service was impeccable. In particular the front desk service from Sagar Thaba. When I mentioned Sagar to other staff everyone spoke affectionately of him - which showed to me that there is a good, respectful culture at Rydges Camperdown. I was impressed.

The staff at this hotel are always so welcoming and accommodating. I have been to this hotel a few times now because it is close to RPA. Always happy with my stay. Everything is very convenient.

I didn't like that they tried to charge us extra for drinks at the bar at 9 pm when we didn't use the bar at all We we're at a concert in Newtown from 7pm til 11

Nice room. The lobby could do with an upgrade. Only a one night stay and didn’t have a look round the hotel.

Needs a change

I checked the website before booking and it said the restaurant was closed but it wasn't and had I know that I would not have booked elsewhere. The woman at reception shrugged it off. Rydges at Camperdown is always a bit ordinary.

Staff were fantastic,polite and helpful. Hotel is perfect position to hospital not abfar walk. Will definitely be staying again.

A good sized room with a nice view. Very clean. This hotel suited us for our short visit.

Great location and fresh sheets ahhhhh, bliss!

It was a great sized room for a longer stay (12 nights). The bed sheets were changed every day if you were out enjoying the city and clean towels restocked when needed. In house laundry was affordable. Great location for buses to the city or a short walk to Newtown. Only downer was there was no recycling and coffee and tea wasn't always restocked, otherwise really happy with choosing to stay here.

Disappointing

I was disappointed that they charge $30 per night to park my car in their car park. They gave me the first night for $25 and I had to find a cheaper place to park that wasn’t very close to the hotel.

Not covenient location for that price. Parking charge for this area high, no regular hosekeeping 3 nights only once done, however poorly, no vac, bath not cleaned, pthe sink plugged, even not cleaned.,left dirty and plugged. No cofee renewl. When asked forellation of stay and refund, only respond arrived by the end of the stay, even that was not clear of the decision.

Good value for money.

The room was large and exceptionally clean with complementary tea and coffee. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were of excellent quality. However the lighting in the room was poor and the bedside lamps were missing The bathroom was also very clean with complementary toiletries with little or no heavy scent. Ideal for me. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. In fact all the staff I encountered were very friendly. The location of the hotel is very good with excellent public transport into the city.

The accommodation itself was very clean and comfortable. The pool area could do with a good clean however - used bandaids in the swimming pool.

Loved the location so close to bars and restaurants and transport. Didnt get offered the credit or told about it for choosing not to have housekeeping, the shower wasnt very good and there was no water in the fridge. Everything else was lovely.

The pictures looked nothing like the accomodation or facilities old and outdated and broken. Not worth at all what I needed to pay. I’ve stayed at Rydges in different cities and this one needs an update as it’s ruining the brands name

Staff was great. Would recommend having longer bar service in evening and maybe adding a little music for better atmosphere. Not much dining around the area so restaurant could have a good business if improve atmosphere. Food was good. Pool area could be updated. Rooms were great

I’ve stayed here a few times over the last couple of years and have found it to be consistently very good. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the staff are all friendly and helpful. The location is excellent if you need proximity to the RPA hospital complex. I highly recommend.

Didn’t have the room I booked, had to pay extra to get it. Tried to charge me twice for an upgrade. Mould in the shower, smelly. Never again. First time booking through WOTIF, won’t again.

I was staying here both to be close to work and to RPA whilst a family member was in the hospital. It was convenient, staff were kind and helpful, room was clean and modern. Would stay again.

City easily accessible bus stop outside the hotel. Disappointed the restraunt and bar never opened during our stay as dining limited in the area.

Staff was all good except the manager who had ulterior agenda's, he was not happy that i didn't take up his offer to cancel the booking Expedia showed me the price in USD when i am from Australia . The price was misleading. It showed me about $1300 but charged me about $1900. Had i known that, i would have looked at other options closer to the city. I believe i should be reimbursed the difference, about$600. Kind Regards Ashok

The first room I was allocated had major leaks from the ceiling. I was then moved to another room that did not have an operational phone and was also unable to order room service at 9pm after a long day. Staff were lovely to deal with however there were just many maintenance issues that really affected my stay greatly.
