The food was the same everyday, even on the specialty restaurants.
The family loves the kid friendly activities, dining options, and entertainment. The resort is well organized checking-in and checking-out. I highly recommend it. The only thing that needs improvement is room availability and description with further details.
.
Lower quality food, old furniture , Great entertainment !
My enjoyment of this place was 5 stars but I wouldn’t call it a 5 star hotel as I know people have certain expectations. The food was good. There was always something I could find at the buffet that I really liked. The beach was beautiful. They take great care of it and we saw them cleaned it regularly. The staff was great. I was there to swim, lie on a beautiful beach, have an evening cocktail in an outdoor bar by the beach and watch a beautiful sun set. It hit all notes
Property was fine Expedia falsely advertised I King Bed along with a double bed in a sea view room. I had to sleep on a cot for the week as the property does not have such a room and does not advertise that they do... recommend booking directly through Royal Decameron and not Expedia!
Food choices we too similar from day to day. I wished they used butter to bake with.
Our second time here - we love the people and the property. Was a little loud at night this time - but we were in a different building and closer to the entertainment. Not a big deal for us, but I know there are other more quiet buildings, our new area though was so convenient that a little noise at night was fine and we would stay in the same room again. We will be back!
I would highly recommend this resort run so well by wonderful hard working staff that obviously enjoy their jobs! I have been here with my husband only, kids in tow the next time and twice with just girlfriends. Every time it has surpassed my expectations. You would not go here if you want a fast paced glitzy vacation resort. You would be happy if you liked a family oriented resort located on a wonderful sandy stretch of beach within a half hour's walk of Bucerias and a large artisans market. The colours in the buildings in the well landscaped gardens and the many pools are so inviting to guests. The food is welll varied and have stations that prepare fresh food right infront of you with breakfast stations offering pancakes, waffles, freshly made personal omelettes. The young talented actors for the evening performances are superb and a pure inspiration for what the human body can do ...amazing. It is very easy to get into Puerta Vallarta by bus if you do not want to catch a taxi...so inexpensive too 20 pesos each way will get you by one bus to Puerta Vallarta's old town and Malecon. Very easy to get you back to the airport by bus goes right by it. Such a great place I asked the front desk how do you say "Dont Change" in Spanish before I left.
This was our second visit to the Decameron - this time with our two kids 12 and 15 for the first time. We loved the restaurants and buffets, the bars, and the pools and beach. The kids enjoyed beach volleyball and free boogie board use every day, as well as the birds and iguanas around the property. Fair warning, the shower water is not hot, but lukewarm, but it didn't dampen our enjoyment of a quiet and lovely 8 nights!
The fact that you could explore outside the resort.
Been to this property 6 times. Highly recommend!!
I liked the property the back was kind of an eye sore. I had my identification taken which was super aweful. Lost a day trying to get a bank card and when your from canada u cant get a bank card only in canada. Couldnt take out money cause i also lost my credit card which i could not access fluids or food on plane. Birth certificate stolen which is alot of work to get another one. Glad i locked up my suitcase and put passport in safe. Food was good and drinks
Everything was expected. Only change I think need to happen is better food quality and options.
Average
Beautiful grounds. Staff was excellent. The food was amazing. The amenities were excellent. I would certainly recommend the Grand Decameron to friends and family. I will be back again! Gracias Grand Decameron! 😀
The biggest issue is the dining and quality of food served. The dishes offered weren't inline with the restaurants theme. Expectations were not met. The difference between an average rating is doing the little things right and exceeding expectations. In both categories they failed.
The food wasn’t good and there was no entertainment that was provided for people around the pool settings. Very boring.
It has gone downhill since the 8 years I have been coming to the Royal Decameron It should be getting better, yet it getting worse
Always enjoy the Decameron!! Great staff, quiet pools
Great vacation getaway
Its fine.
There are a variety of restaurants to choose from. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The resort needs to have WIFI in all the rooms.
Chairs on the beach were sometimes hard to get but they had someone watching and if the people didn’t show up in an hour the staff took the towels off. Wish they would have had swim up bars but it was okay for this stay. They definitely need more smoking areas,
The staff were first class… the bartenders , housekeepers, restaurant, check in , greeters all amazing. Very nice people. Always offering to help.
thought our bartender, Elias at #4 Keiko Bar was fantastic and great personality. Didn't like that the small money exchange would only convert foreign dollars to Pesos and not break larger Pesos to smaller amounts. Made it very hard to get smaller amounts for tipping purposes.
The food is good and friendly for the price, the resort is spacious, and it is easy to walk to the town. The downside is that the room is too old and worn, and there are a lot of mosquitoes, so it needs to be disinfected. I wish there were more variety in the food menu. Overall, I am satisfied.
Property was beautiful. Staff was very friendly . Showers were outdated, and the food was the same everyday
Property grounds are beautiful. The pools are cleaned and well kept. The staff work really hard and are always smiling and greeting you, available to answer any questions. Rooms are standard, maybe a bit dated, but clean and everything is in working order.
Great, unpretentious resort
Had the best time here!!
Beautiful complex, Great friendly staff. Dated but clean and well kept
I have bin around the world, but the room we get was not rentable , averaging was broken I do not understand how you can charge so much money for same thing like that
Really liked the hedge borders Entertainment was quite good.
All inclusive stay
The hotel is old and loud especially if you stay in building 3! The food is maybe a 2 out of 10 the food is barely warm! Staff not so friendly! Hotel is old and needs updating. Appreciated how the hotel does not allow smoking in non-smoking areas. Although people still sneak their smokes and for the most part get away with it. The beach is kept nice and has a beautiful view of the ocean. We will not be returning…..
As a single female traveller, I felt very safe there. Everyone was very helpful. Food wasn't great (most meat very dry!).
Well maintained resort in a wonderful area. Food was good. Drinks are good. Everything was good. Nothing was outstanding, but solid all around.
Great staff, very clean, a lot of variety to eat, great live show on every night, events all day if you’d like, or sit by the pool or on the beach. Paddle boarding, kayaking available, you can book excursions right in the resort or at the corner shop beside the resort. No wifi in the rooms, only in the common area. Parts of the resort are getting a little run down but they are renovating. 2 convenient shops in the resort, and many more less than 5 min from the resort on foot. There is a fridge and a safe in the rooms, beds were very hard. No beach bar service but the bars are close, no swim up bar, you must book a restaurant by 8am if you don’t want to eat buffet. It’s a 20 min taxi ride from the airport which will cost 500 pesos. 300 from the resort back to the airport. Short walk to Bucerias market. Short walk to the bank and groc store, many pharmacies within walking distance.
We stayed here 7 years ago and loved it, ut unfortunately its been bought by Wyndham and has definitely gone downhill. They have painted over all the fun bright Mexican colors with beige, literally and figuratively. Food is unimaginative and has very little in the way of authentic Mexican fare. Adult beverages are diluted, and unimaginative. Our bathroom reeked of sewer gas. We called the front desk for an extra blanket 3 times and never received one. Sadly we wont be returning.
We always stay here. Staff is super friendly rooms are nice
The property is very well maintained with lovely trees, grass and flowered hedges. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was cleaned perfectly every day. The food was good, just what you would expect with a buffet all inclusive these days. The bartenders were friendly and made excellent alcohol and no-alcohol drinks. I would recommend this hotel for a 3-4 star experience.
No coffee in the rooms but other than that a great inexpensive place to stay. Not a five star and it shows but nevertheless a great time!
We usually stay at the RIU, but thought we would try this due to the great price and a friend’s recommendation….. Gotta say - We had the absolute BEST TIME EVER! All the guests and staff were super friendly, and we totally understand why so many keep coming back year after year. Super relaxed and friendly, loads of activities, shows were fun, LOVED the adult only pool, and so many bars and meeting areas to suit any mood. Will Definitely return next year!
I enjoy the property. It was a nice walk to Bucerías. I didn’t like the property next-door though I didn’t know what it was, but that’s not. It’s nothing to do with the property itself.
The front desk staff was rude. Garbage around the resort. The food really is bad and the beds the most uncomfortable. I was super excited to stay at this resort and was so let down.
Great time!
Everything was kept clean grounds rooms ect we will be back we loved the staff so helpful and friendly
Great proximity to the village. Too many plastics on site from straws to floaters used to reserve lounge chairs. The lounge chair culture is very 90s.
Perfectly good place because of its proximity to the village. Food is fine for breakfast and snacks.
Smaller resort, friendly staff, clean grounds. Food was pretty good. The Mexican night they have on Thursday was really good. They made fresh churros. About a 15 minute walk into bucerias where there is a market and lots of yummy restaurants right on the beach.
Some men’s toilet seats were missing by pool!
Excellent food and service. We will make it a yearly trip
The property is beautiful. The opportunity to pick a pool , quiet pool, party pool, activities pool, is fantastic. But, finding a chair is another story. Chairs are " saved" with towels, bags, or whatever.( Happens at the beach too) Often people would be gone for hours, their chairs being empty. My biggest concern is wheelchair accessibility, I am in a wheelchair. The ramps around the property are extremely steep, I often had to hobble out of my chair and push it up the ramps. The adult area where I was staying had 3 ramps that I could not get up on my own. I can't imagine a senior making it up the ramps. Going down the ramps was equally difficult. We also had a problem breaking big bills at the bank, bars and restaurants onsite. We'd ask the bartender to break a hundred, he'd said he only had 80, I'm assuming they hope we will the 20 for the tip, that should be my decision not his. So many days, staff missed out on tips because we were not leaving 100 pesos for a cup of coffee. The food was good, service was good, cleanliness of the resort was amazing.
It was a lovely place to relax, variety of food offerings. Grounds were very nice, good choice of pools. Our room was very clean, however there was mold on the walls in the bathroom, and the vanity was crumbling. The 9:30pm show was too loud and disturbing. I think the volume could’ve been turned down. Oscar was amazing in the pickle ball bike area, and so friendly and helpful.
The resort was really nice. I found that the activities to do like shuffle board and that closed down so early, leaving the evening a bit dull.
The beds are terrible food not much better. Front desk staff rude and unprofessional. Bartenders were friendly and made a fairly decent drink
Great staff and service
This was my 5th time staying here. The staff are fabulous as always. But the building is showing wear and needs plumbing and electrical updates to bring ratings up. I will definitely go back!
Great property. Friendly staff. Food was good. Great location.
We enjoyed our 16 day here. After reading the reviews I was a little skeptical. Pros were the amazi g beach, and the staff. We started off in block 6 with no hot water for 3 days, we went to the desk and complained a few times and they finally moved us to block 3 with an ocean view, The buffets were ok a large variety of food. The online booking for restaurants was a little frustrating We took the 9pm mostly and got in. I think they should have restaurants pre booked when u check in like other hotels. Next the beach chair situation unbelievable… I saw people putting beach towels out a 1000 pm the night before, elderly people with no chairs to sit on.. absolutely stupid. Buy more chairs to accommodate the people staying at the resort. Entertainment was sub par could be a lot better, way more music, some of the shows at the theatre were awesome! However a vacation is what you make it and we had an awesome time and your resort!
The iguanas at the Block 6 Adult pool were a treat to watch
Nice older property. Well maintained and clean. Limited choices on buffets, but good.
I like everything
The resort was great—clean and conveniently laid out with everything close by. However, it does need significant updates. Our shower was awful, and the room could definitely use a refresh. Despite that, we enjoyed our stay and would return.
Property was very clean , staff were very friendly, food option were good. We had a great stay and would return
Beautiful, wide beach with plenty of shade. Healthy and varied food at buffets with several a la carte choices. The staff is to be commended.
The property is good for young people who like to party. Food was not excellent cold from the buffet most of the time
Walking to town, bars, restaraunts, shopping...beach
The staff were very nice, the evening shows were great, lots of activities to do and lots of selection for food.
The shows are amazing
Good location, Bucerias is a small village and far enough from the PV density, but close enough for easy access to airport and services. Property has all one needs in a resort, with great amenities (kayaks, boards, bikes, tennis, pickleball, etc.), good beach access with plenty of chairs (if you go early) Structure is a bit dated, might use some renovation. Rooms are rather basic, not fancy, but clean and functioning. The staff is very nice and they do all they can to help you. Choice of restaurants is good, but you have to book them early in the morning before they sell out. Quality and variety of the food has room for improvement; after 5 days we were definitely ready for a change! Providing better choice in small things (like adding espresso / cappuccino machines...) would go a long way to improve the overall experience. Overall, good value for the price, not a fancy resort, but we had a great time.
Sun
Everything was perfect except for the food.
Disappointed
Didn’t receive the building we requested. The ac didn’t work, no hot water, one day no cold water. The food was sub par for what we paid. Gobs of bacon dripping with grease only served by the omelette lady. No sausage only cut up pieces of wieners. Like why even do that it just you look bad. Nothing on any buffet was any resemblance of hot. If you stuck to the meats and salads you could usually find enough to eat but most side dishes were not great mostly due to not being kept warm enough. When you look at the colourful buildings in the picture that is not what you get. Since windham has obtained this property they have painted everything beige. Lots of people very upset about that. The grounds were still well maintained and the pools! When we were ready to check out we called 3 times for the bellman and they never showed up. We had to push our 2 large suitcases and 2 carry on cases to the reception ourselves the distance close to the length of a football field. We will definitely not book this resort again and Windham has a task ahead of them.
Been there twice before and know what to expect
The resort, the beach and the people are amazing. That said, our room was definitely showing its age. I think it is time for the resort to invest in fixing shower doors that don't close, air conditioners that cannot be adjusted (i.e. full on blowing ice cubes or off; no in between)
Family friendly
We did not have cold water in our shower. They eventually fix it. The food was ok but not the best. Stuff was nice. However, if you wanted to have dinner at a none buffet restaurant you need it make a reservation at 8am which it was always almost full most restaurants only had about 60 spots you we only got to eat at one restaurant but I had to get up at 8am to get the reservation and you couldn’t reserve a day before it had to be that same day.
You get what you pay for
It’s all good
The property is beautiful and the beach is amazing. The rooms are older and could use some updating but they are clean.
3rd time here and still love it!!
.
Nice place. Good service
We’ve been coming to Bucerias for 12 years. It’s the best laid back place we’ve been. It has everything you could want, which is why keep coming back. It also very hard to beat the DeCamerons prices.
Beautiful beaches and swiming pools. Confortable rooms. Good restaurants .
hidden gem
Stayed here for a week and enjoyed our time! It was hard to get reservations at the restaurants but the buffet was good. Nice beach and pools! Always entertainment happening around the resort.
Great value for 4 weeks vacation
Property is run down, rooms are dirty, cockroaches in the corridors and staff are very unhelpful. The Italian restaurant is the only good place to eat, but is difficult to book. The beaches and surrounding town/areas are beautiful. There are a many delicious restaurants and coffee shops nearby just outside of the resort.
It was our third time staying here and we loved it
Rooms are basic but clean. Fantastic beach! Staff are excellent!
The DeCameron "just works" for us. It's clean, safe, friendly, easy going, and pleasant. You can pay more but you won't necessarily get better. We've been 10X over the years, and we'll go back again. Meals? (4/5) Ocean (5/5) Pools (5/5). Staff (5/5). Front Desk (4/5).
This property is a diamond in the rough. We visited for a very reasonable price while upgrades were in process. This means there was more noise than expected but our visit was very satisfactory and everything was very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food seemed to have good and bad days but we determined it was best to eat earlier while food was freshly made. Onsite restaurants varied in quality but there was always good to be found. We will visit again and expect with the improvements currently underway our star rating will go up.
It was ok. They didn’t give me a refund for someone that never came. They said to go through the booking agent. The booking agent said it was up to the resort. A simple way for them to rip you off.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Staff friendly safe environment meals were good Dislikes spotty wifi and chairs at pool always taken
The entertainment crew is awesome! Day and night shows, games and activities were all great

Our second time at this property, great location!!
