The rooms are old and smelly there is mold everywhere food was ok and waiter's were friendly and good service
We RIU Class members and they are an outstanding organization. They take into account the whole family including children as well as adults. BRAVO RIU!
Q
Awesome
If you have kids, it's incredibly family friendly. We love the convenience of everything for us and our kids and there's always something for all of us to do.
I liked the beach and the buffet was pretty good.
The Riu Jalisco is good value for the money but the biggest issue we had was with the food. The food was generally not hot or fresh tasting and the ala carte options were not very good. There was little variety in the buffet so eating the same things for a week got tiresome, particularly for lunch. Beyond that, the entertainment was engaging and, in general, several of the staff were outstanding, especially the activities staff. Erika in the restaurant and Sarah as entertainment hostess were both wonderful.
It was great but I did watch a man put something in a girls drink and stopped her from drinking it and told security about but not sure if anything resulted from it so be on th watch late at night
Family vacation with teens
Good buffet. A la cart restaurants easy to get in to- no reservations needed but food not great.
La verdad excelente servicio, el
It was a great time. A lot of cigarette butts on the beach, but overall a great experience that we will return to.
Melanie and Alex were great entertainment specialists. Definitely will be back.
Very nice for the price. All buffets, except one restaurant. Main buffet was wonderful! Pool area and beach were very nice and well maintained! People were always cleaning (in a good way!). Lots of activities & the parties/shows were great! Only downside is rooms need updated.
There is no teen club for kids ages 12-17, so our kids got bored very quickly. The rooms were nice, but very damp humid. We had several issues with our room when we got there, but they were fixed extremely quickly! Overall, we had a nice stay, but unfortunately won’t be returning to this resort.
Fantastic entertainment day at night great food choices. Everything very accessible and clean. Thank you very much for making our spring break amazing
Great staff !
The staff was so polite and helpful especially if tipped. Felt very safe. If we had an issue with the room we got on the app and requested what we needed and it was fixed or got supplies right away. The whole resort was constantly being cleaned. From aug-dec they are doing a major remodel.
I really enjoyed this trip! The food was great and the staff were so friendly and helpful
Good value for a last minute trip with good food options and great staff!
The food is mostly buffet style. Italian restaurant sounded really awesome. The wait was extensive, and the food not good.. Sadly this was the restaurant that we went and hung outside for 30 mins. Before we could go in
Bathroom need reno, doors, fans and need bigger pool
I loved not having to play the dinner reservation game. First come, first served. A little well loved property but very well maintained and the staff are awesome. They will be doing a reno this fall.
The hotel is old and needs repairs
Not one single complaint do I have.
Very nice resort with great buffet options. Loved that it was right by the beach. Had an amazing time.
The chefs prepared fish we caught on a boat excursion for us and did an amazing job. This was a wonderful perk. My grandsons also enjoyed a lot of the games/competitions available. The saxophone player who played in the lounge 2 evenings was wonderful. Thanks we enjoyed our stay!
Great location
Wonderful time !
Loved it
Walls was very thin so you can hear everything in the next room over & people walking in the hallway. Staff forgot to bring things I asked for a couple times which I ended up having to chase them down to get. Food was ok just same stuff everyday. Overall not the worst but definitely far from a great experience
Everything was great! This place was a very good value for what we paid
The property is great with a beautiful beach. All the activities were amazing and the activities staff were very nice and friendly. Alex, Francisco & Emanuel are the best!!. We will definitely have to come back next year.
Had a great family vacation. The staff was all very friendly, helpful and attentive. Great variety of food and drink options.
Resort had day and night fun activities. Breakfast buffet was really good with many selections. However, dinner at the restaurants was average and best. The steak house opened at 6:30pm. My family and I showed up at 6:40 only to be told seating was full and would have to wait until 8pm for next seating. Very disappointed. 3 of 5 stars
Warning! Inspect your water and TV immediately. The water coming from both our rooms showers were brown!! Literally brown. We reported it, and we're told they had done a repair, to just run it for 10 minutes first... AFTER WE HAD BATHED IN IT. Then at checkout, we were told to pay $650 USD for the TV that had a small black blob when we got there, cause we didn't report it. We figured it still worked, so not an issue... boy were we wrong. This is on top of 2 from our party getting sick. Buffets are the same, every single day. No room service or pool service available. To top it off, the "$500 resort credit" through Expedia is merely small discount coupons on things like rental cars or excursions, which was useless to us. We do not recommend this hotel.
Really liked the entertainment. Sports bar should show hockey games.
Staff were incredibly kind and accommodating, we loved all the constant entertainment and all the variety of delicious foods.
No elevators and no drink service on the beach
Originally my wife and I had the reservation for the RIU Jalisco, but upon arrival to the hotel, we got informed tha we received an upgrade to the RIU Palace, adults only hotel, there is not enough that I can say about this hotel, but it was an incledible experience been there, the food, the place the service and the best part the people, starting from Junior at the front desk, the bartenders at the bars, and all the servers at the retaurants and buffet area, including the waiter's at the tables, Thank you for you amazing hotel and service, I can not wait to return again. Miguel & Martha R.
ok
Very safe, i like the size, kids were able to go everywhere. Did get the beds or close rooms as we had requested. Elevators where finicky. More outdoor dining, we loved we could have family eat at a variety of places and all meet to eat outside. Sad about renos, will lose its charm!
The property was well maintained and it was a pleasant trip
All Buffet Style Food
Overall our experience was very mid. The food option and taste was the worse of all and the staff were friendly but just not really present. It seemed to be short staffed or the staff were just so busy that we barely could get service like refill on our waters etc. A couple of times we just went to the drink area and refilled our own drinks. There was no variety in food each night, it was the same each night and just overall the food was not that great. We found ourselves leaving to eat in the downtown area instead. The rooms were a bit outdated but it was okay. The overall property was nice though. We did enjoy the pools and beach. The kids area was so small compared to how the pictures made it look. Overall it was average. It was not worth the price and we wouldn’t return. Hopefully they can hire more staff for the size of the property to help service customers.
Bathrooms, chairs around the pool are kinda worn down. Room is ok. Hallways are clean, dining rooms are also clean. The food though is mediocre. Some does not even have a taste. For the special restaurant the only thing is great is the Italian one. The steak restaurants are disappointing as well as the asian one. The buffet breakfast is just ok. Compared to the other Riu all inclusive that Ive been to this one is bottom of the list. I do like the pool and the beach area. I wish they have a coffee or deli snacks area.
The staff was nice, I enjoyed the towel animals very much. The facility was clean. The food was good, no RSVP needed for the restaurants. The pool side activities were fun and hilarious to watch. It was a very nice experience.
Service was excellent
The resort is right on the beach, and there is always food or a bar available. The food is fine, nothing overly exciting about it. Staff was all very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very dated, and sooooo noisy. Voices echo through the tile hallways all night and it's SO loud. We had an ongoing issue with not getting towels in our room (they would take the old ones and leave nothing), and they only restocked our drinks once during the week we were there. We've stayed at multiple all-inclusives in pvr before, and this was probably the worst one we've been to overall. It still wasn't terrible, we've just been spoiled i guess with better places in the past.
We had never been to an all inclusive resort and it was wonderful! Perfect time of year to go! Food options were great. Shows at night were fun, property was well kept. Room was fine. It was a great trip!
I like the beach area. The view when arriving with the fountains is beautiful. Property was clean, staff very courteous.
Was a great stay
First time to Pureto Vallarta and first time at a Rui hotel. It was a daughter/mother vacation. We had a great time. The staff is friendly, we met some great people. We loved the pool area and the nightlife. Lots of different food options, however I did get sick ( food poisoning) on our last day there and have been since returning home.
Food boring not that great
Nice clean place. Can be a bit busy.
Really good option for families though the hotel itself could need a remodeling I’m most areas. The staff is truly the best part of this hotel
Loved how fun and lively this place was , the staff was wonderful and attentive.
Excellent staff, great food, property needs a refresh. Overall we had a wonderful time!
Be careful around food you choose. We got food poisoned and stayed out for a couple of days. People ignoring no smoking signs inside and outside.
I gave 3 star because there is not clean in the rooms, toilet stinks. Also is very loud and noisy at night. Wanted a quiet room, but refused to ofer. I think they need a good remodel 😇
Good
Good food. Good drinks. Good people
The food at the resort was amazing! The staff was a plus as well. The resort on the outside is visually stunning…but inside the rooms is totally different. The rooms were very dated and showed severe signs of deterioration. I disliked that the resort uses brown towels, so we really didn’t know how clean they were. The room was not the cleanest. A ROACH literally fell on my head one day when we walked in the room. On my 4 day trip, I saw a total of 6 roaches in the room. The hotel was sold out so we didn’t have an option to move.
Most staff were nice and worked hard , some however were a bit grumpy
The beach and pool areas were pretty good. We could hear the night entertainment from our room but it was not a deal breaker. Overall a really great deal for the price.
Well-maintained, clean, friendly staff, decent food.
Needs upgrade. Food was ok at best. Entertainment was sub par
We didnt drink the tap water, but my daughter, son, and I all got sick with diarrhea on day 3, had fevers, and just didnt feel well the rest of our week. I also cut my foot on a broken pool tile which was loose on the bottom of the pool. The shower in our room was not hot, and our plumbing made groaning sounds when the shower was on. The building and pools are showing their age. The staff were fantastic! Next time we probably wont do another riu. We've never been sick before from an all inclusive and it really made for a hard week for my kids, which was supposed to be an awesome family vacation.
I liked that the property was kept clean and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I wish there were more food options & that the food was more flavorful. I think the rooms need to be cleaned more thoroughly (I found mold on my curtains & the towels smelled odd). Other than that, my experience was good.
Great resort for families with great beach, clean pools, kiddies area, lots of loungers, variety of restaurants. The buffet was particularly good in variety and quality. Shout out to breakfast gal Vicenta.
Vvv
The property was great. the kids loved the pools and beach area. The kids pool slides need some upgrades The staff were very nice and kept everything clean. The only part that i didnt like was our specific room had a couple problems which were addressed. bit our friends did not have any problems with thier room- just bad luck for us
Always check activity schedule. Fun place to stay
Overall, the price point is right for this property. The staff was hardworking and friendly although at times could use more in dining, pool areas. They were great with our kids, so nice. If somethings like pool chairs and pool were updated it would do a lot for esthetics. We definetely got what we paid for, but if looking for 5 star on a 3 star budget you will be disappointed
Transportation no good I paid too high price for route trip to pick up @ air port and bring me back but they schedule wrong time they cancel I have no phone to contact I have to call taxi with extra cost that NO good !!
Outstanding
Great property, although a little dated. Service was wonderful, great week spent there.
The property was great enjoyed our stay and will return
The grounds, entertainment and staff were all EXCELLENT ❤️❤️❤️
Love the beach, staff is amazing, clean. Had a wonderful vacation.
Was a great place for all ages.
I don’t believe my family will be staying at any further properties of RIU. The rooms were outdated and not very clean (rust was everywhere). The room that we actually got was completely different from the one we booked. It was a family suite with 2 bedrooms and common area. We got no common area and the “two” bedrooms included one with a little sofa sleeper for one. The sofa sleeper smell of urine /was completely worn in and not comfortable for someone to sleep on. The 2 queen beds in the other room were pushed together. The common area has the king size bed in it/only a tv stand. The rooms view was very pretty which looked out to the pool and you could see ocean but the position of the room on the property was horrible. The way the property was built allows for the entertainment space to echo through out the property. It was so loud that we attempted to use a sound machine but really only slept a couple hours at night. The restaurants did not give a proper description and were a let down. All were a buffet style except the steak house. The main buffet area with the Mexican buffet were the best to eat at. The steak house was horrible. Terrible service but also I was served an inedible steak it was so tough. The rest of the food was just bland/we had to wait over an hour to be seated when we got there 15mins after opening. There is no call ahead reservations. My family and I made the most of it and ended up going into town for a delicious Mexican dinner.
I was supposed to get a family room upon arrival. Instead i got two beds pushed together. The elevators dont work and there only in the lobby. The shower is small 3 feet by 3 feet to be exact. Underneath the toliet was dirty and smells. The dirty toilet paper you have to put yourself in a small paper bag eveytime. They are short on towels. No gym towels. Gym is outdated and old. Some machines dont work. The chairs are old and dirty. There is no waiter service poolside or beachside. No bathrooms in majority of restaurants. Service is ok in the restaurants. Staff friendliness is good. Food is good. Riu stage partys are cool.
It was beautiful
A good resort for families with lots of activities and entertainment.
The service was excellent.
We love the location and it’s a very nice and safe resort to stay with the family and little kids. The hotel towels/rooms could be updated and deep cleaned. The food is fantastic and staff is very nice and pleasant. Thanks
This was a pretty great resort. Gym wasnt the best and it was pretty far from town, but overall good!
We were facing shade all day and had no sun all day in the balcony. Made our room very damp and gloomy. We know it’s humid but we slept with air off as it was actually cold at night. You could see mold was building up in areas of the room.
Liked food and beach. Adequate beach and pool chairs. Property older but well manicured.
The grounds were beautiful, the staff was great, and there was a lot of nature on the beach. I wish they strictly enforced the no reserving chairs with towels. It was impossible for us to ever visit the main pool. All the seats were reserved from 6:00 a.m.
It was nice having multiple places to eat. We ate at each restaurant while we were there. The bathrooms/showers should be the first thing they update but it was fine. It was interesting how everything shut off when you left the room or air conditioner shut off when balcony opened. Great idea!
The property really needs a few more bathrooms in the public area. The bathrooms that are in the public area is not always working properly. It is really dark on the walkways after dark. More lighting on the paths would be really good. We had a great time. The staff are all wonderful. The food is good. The splash area for the kids is really good. The pills are nice. All in all we did have a great stay.
Great beach, food was not the greatest, shows were below average, staff was great, beds need updating
Leaving today! Had a wonderful trip! Heard this resort will be Reno’d in August-December. The pools were beautiful and had character! Iguanas and Nacho the duck hung out everyday. Water aerobics class was so fun! The beach by the resort was outstanding. We took walks every afternoon as the tide is lower and lots more room to walk. The food was really good! The Mexican and Italian were awesome! The steakhouse was busy so if you want in go early!!! We never got to try it. The Asian food was meh… The entertainment was amazing! They know how to put on a show. I really enjoyed the Michael Jackson night! The whit party was insanely fun, and was like clubbing. Got your face painted by resort for the party. It was awesome! Loved that they had lots of hand sanitizer to use after touching all the handles to the spoons. Was super clean. The rooms were nothing too special, but were clean and nice and cool. The one thing that did really bug me so I hope they change it. Is they have the smokers all smoke by the lobby, so the lobby always smelled like smoke. Would probably be better to have them smoke a bit to the side so it didn’t blow as much in the lobby. If you have any issues walking ask for a lower ground room as the elevator is quite busy. We were on sixth floor and did quite a bit of stairs everyday. All in all it was an awesome resort! Very family friendly! Great service, great food, great entertainment. Can’t wait to come back after renos next year!! Best Trip!
Beautiful
The food and staff were amazing. The property is showing its age, but kept up well except if you shower stinks just put a wet towel over the drain when not in use. The beds are very firm. Everything was in working order. The multiple bars and pop machines were very convenient.
I like the beach. Can walk for literally miles

I like the service and the ocean. The hotel is wonderful
