All around great property with awesome staff. The beach was amazing! The buffet was exceptional. I also loved the walkability and the entertainment. I’m would recommend this place for any family.

Traveled with my daughter who has Celiac and they provided her with safe dining options every day, at every meal, at every restaurant, with a chef coming out to even ask what she wanted several times. The property was beautiful and staff was constantly cleaning. Never had to fight for a chair, or wait that long for a drink. An amazing vacation! Highly recommend!

Great staff. Great for families too. Just wish they managed the towel saving on the seats at the pool a little more. If you didnt get a seat by 630am it was pretty tough to find a spot.

I had high hopes going to Riu Dunamar based on Expedia and Google reviews, the resort was pretty disappointing. The food quality was sub par compared to other resorts we stayed that in Mexico. The choice was limited, and what was available was not to the standard of other resorts. The facilities were lacking as well. There are only 3 public bathrooms for the whole resort on the ground floor and outside. There are no activities for kids besides pools, the water park and the evening show. No basketball court, mini golf, movie theatre. Nothing indoors for peak sun during the day. Besides the waterpark, the pools are way too deep for small children. 1.3m is the minimum depth everywhere, be warned if you have small children like we do. On the positive side the beach was nice. The kids enjoyed the stay and had a good time. It wasn't a terrible experience, but far from 5 star resort advertised. Oh the location is also pretty remote. 1.5 hours for any excursion. Decent trip overall, but would not repeat. Planet Hollywood next door is significantly better at a similar price point.

Great for a group of 16. We had a great time!!

Lots of pool, water park, and beach options depending on your preference. Food options extremely limited to basically buffet items at every restaurant or 4 options to choose from at the Italian restaurant. The beds are extremely small and uncomfortable (old). Be weary of the free room upgrade that they make you sign an acceptance for, it is right outside the evening music stage that doesn’t close until 11pm some nights. The lost and found is only a lost and never returned. We lost 3 items and every time they checked their “list” none of the items were there. They do not actually show you the found goggles, water bottles, or sunglasses. Just review a list quickly and tell you they don’t have your items.

It was a very nice resort & felt very safe for ourselves and family even walking around later at night. We wish the pools would have been open later and the food quality was poor even at the specialty restaurants. Thank goodness for the grill at the pool for burgers & hot dogs, salad bar and fruit selections at the buffet. Recommend taking some personal snacks as well.

Nice resort. Beds in room were smalll. Hard to fit 2 adults, or even 2 kids in the bed. Food was food and plenty of polite and wonderful staff. One things i didn’t like was the gym. Half the equipment was broken and it’s really small…. Would be nice if it was open 24/7.

The entire staff was wonderful. Very clean and accommodating.

We did a quick trip here but it was great for the most part. We took two kids, ages 12 &13. They had a blast. The food was good. There was always something for everyone and my kids are kind of picky. We stayed in a two double bed room. We ended up asking for two extra beds and they fit perfectly in the room. Camp Cancun was a blast, at least everyone slept good. Waterpark was fun. My only complaint would be that there's no where to just swim. No lazy river. You're either doing the slides or sitting off to the side. Lastly, the nightly shows were a little bit of a bust. The riu nights are just a DJ and balloons and dancing. We did catch one Michael Jackson show, and that was exactly what you'd expect. Maybe we needed to stay more nights. All in all it was great for our short stay and the price was right.

Everything I did was a problem; got threatened 5 times for getting kicked out for literally having a good time because my group was “too loud” don’t know what they expect at an all inclusive resort. Never coming back here

Bittersweet Vacations

They did not carry out the check in, even though I did it days in advance. They rented my room and made us wait for the room to be cleaned. At night after 11pm they made repairs, I could not sleep for several days. At the reception they do not answer calls. When I asked to replenish the drinks in the minibar, they came to remove the drinks and entered without permission, finishing my shower, very unpleasant, without an explanation, this due to a mistake. The staff did not have the professionalism to check and avoid an incident due to an error for another guest. For a five star hotel, the service was not appropriate, I stayed a week and what I received was an apology note, when I asked to speak to the manager in person to clarify the inconveniences and he did not agree to see me

Overall the resort was amazing, I would give it a 8/10. The room was really clean and the resort was well kept. The staff treated us great. The only reason it’s not a 10 is because of the location. It’s far off from everything & very secluded. Also, I wasn’t a huge fan of the food. Everything tasted pretty bland.

Top notch resort thats exactly as advertised. Any requests made through the app are actioned in less than an hour. I would highly recommend the resort and will hopefully return for another stay in the near future.

The property was huge and well kept, but it was far from most things so you had to take an Uber to do excursions.Or even to shop. The music was always techno loud around the pools.When you just want to relax sometimes it's annoying. Also, fire alarms went off in the middle of the night 2 nights.We were there which isn't pleasant.They were false alarms.

This hotel property was very nice and clean. The pools were large and warm with plenty of seating. The beach was beautiful with plenty of seating. Besides the front desk staff (not very accommodating including not allowing us to check-in until 3:45 even though we arrived before 1), the remainder of the staff was great (we did tip them well) and more than willing to help. The entertainment wasn’t amazing but good enough. My complaint and why I likely wouldn’t return, is unfortunately the food and drinks were not very good. I saw this mentioned in many of the reviews but was hopeful they were just overly picky or had too high of expectations. We stayed for a week and my kids had a hard time finding something they liked and overall the food was just ok. The mixes for the drinks were very sugary and did not taste great. 5 star property but 3 star food.

Everything was amazing

We really enjoyed our time at Riu Dunamar. It takes about 45 mins to get there from the airport so be sure to arrange transportation ahead of time. Food is decent and the drinks are strong. Be careful because those drinks will keep coming!! The resort is spotless and the beach is large and perfect. Check in takes about 2 mins and check out is the same. Perfecto Schedule a day trip if you are there for 4 days Would return to another RIU

Hotel amenities, Water Park and bartenders attention

This is an average all-inclusive. If it had not been for the amazing customer service, I would have given it a lower rating. The food is well below average at all concepts. The best food option was the breakfast buffet, and even that was lackluster compared to other resorts we have visited.

It’s rated a five star , but it’s not as plush as a regular 5 stars. Drinks are generic alcool brand , Buffet food is repetitive and good but not wow. The staff extremely nice , service at bars for cola or drink is fantastic ( quality of liquor humm.) One great thing was no line ups for beach chairs , pool was over crowded and lots of people reserving chairs with personal items for the entire day without being there . Another great thing is the coffee in the morning no line up at all and great coffee fast service . The last thing I appreciated the most was the staff politeness regarding tips , they were never asking or trying to ask , appreciative and discret when given something but not expecting or demanding and tha was amazing . Over all great experience. So for me it’s a great 4 stars

Es un buen lugar para hospedarse en general. Pero la ubicación es lejana, la playa del hotel no es muy buena y por el precio esperas un poco más.

Activities are pretty good.You always can find food when you’re hungry.But food flavor can be better. The staff around bar, beach and swim pool are very good. But in the restaurant some staff won’t come to check. But for all i will say pretty good.

Just came back from my third time at RIU Dunamar. Love the place and the beach.

The workers were so welcoming and nice and was always around when needed. Felt safe and wanted there unless other hotels

I was surprised to see four dogs on the property where a lot of kids are walking around.

Staff could have been a little friendlier. Food was good. About your typical all inclusive type dining options. Beach and pools are awesome. Very clean and perfectly manicured.

FAMILY VACATION

Overall the stay was great, friendly and accommodating staff, waiters and bar tenders, if you're on the Ocean View side of the hotel, there are no elevators, those are only located at the front of the Hotel, food options were good, we mostly ate at the Buffet, kids loved the water slides, Manny the Pool waiter was very attentive and quick to bring drinks, would stay again

This property is great if you are traveling with kids or families. If you want a quieter, more adult scene, there are better options. The variety of food is excellent, the quality of food is good. Rooms are fine, but definitely not "upscale" if that's what you're used to. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Worst vacation of our life! Food was the worst!! No flavor. The buffet area was messy. The specialty restaurants are over hyped and the food sucks in spite of the wait! The drinks are equally bad. Bad quality juices being used! Bad quality alcohol! The wines were Bad too! No beer options! Some of the staff members were ok but a lot of them were rude The hotel is trying to make extra money out every possible way! Like the photographers around the hotel taking pictures of you and asking you to pay with your arm to get the photos! The rooms are basic, the mattresses are bad. The waterpark slides are abrasive. The guests at this hotel are equally bad! There were 4 poop accidents in the pools in 6 days! And the staff had to use bad chemicals in the pool to clean which caused hives on our bodies! The onsite doctor charged us $225 to see our kid and gave us over the counter med for $40!!! It’s a scam! Do not go to this hotel! And this is not a 5 star hotel by any standards!

It's a big resort and the restaurants are very small and they recommend to come early at 530 to make line in order to get a place but sometimes even if you get early you can't get a place this is a big NO

Me and my family stayed for 7 nights , and I cannot say how much I loved hotel Riu dunmar , all the staff are absolutely amazing !! If you go to the pool that’s mostly for kids right next to Riu land well closer to it make sure you look for Freddy he comes around and makes drinks and we’ll make your day, the sweetest happiest and man ever !! But all the staff was amazing , the girls in kids club are sweethearts and great with the kids !! I highly recommended this resort and me and my family will be coming back !! I was so sad to leave but of course all good things come to an end!!!

Went on a Christmas Vacation with my family and had a wonderful time! The suites we were in had everything we needed and had a beautiful view of the ocean. The staff were all wondeful and very friendly. The grounds are beautiful and is kept very tidy and clean every day by staff. They had 4 pools on the property and 2 of them had walk up bars. The food on the resort was good but there was a rotation of the same things at the buffett. There were 3 restaurants there but me and my family visited the Italian restaurant and Asian Bistro. I would rate the Asian bistro a bit better as that one made up for the Italian Restaurant. If you wanted to go off the grounds or campus they offer transportation and Uber was easily assessible if you wanted to shop extra, explore downtown, or go out to eat. Overall the experience was wonderful and thank you Riu for having us.

Very nice resort - great value too

This was my first all-inclusive experience. The resort is very nice. The resort was clean, there were lots of people but I was always able to find deck chairs by the pool or beach. The beach is nice and so are the pools. It was easy to get drinks during the day. Dinner at certain restaurants can get busy at prime times. Overall I highly recommend especially for families.

Very nice property

I really liked the resort. I would prefer if the restaurants were reservation over just walk in because they won’t sit you past 7:30 if its too busy. Overall had a great experience though.

Overall great place to come with kids, water slides are top attractions for kids and adults. Great food. Buffet has small selection compared to other Riu hotels but was not bad. Would recommend to others and would come back again.

Terrible food variety and quality, workers are very limited to the amount of guests in hotel. Area of hotel taxis and amusement is terrible. Wouldn’t come back again, very disappointed.

Worst All Inclusive in Mexico, bad food + service

This was our 11th visit to All Inclusive resorts in Mexico and absolutely the worst one. It was so bad that we left early - changed our flights and just went home. The food is nearly inedible and the buffet dining is incredibly loud, smelly, and packed - it felt like we were in a elementary school cafeteria. Some of the "restaurants" are just smaller buffets with a waitlist. The rest are impossible to get into. Open until 9:30pm but if you arrive after 7:00pm they won't even put you on the wait list. The rooms were 'clean' but absolutely need to be updated. Our couch was ripped, both sinks cracked, mirrors cracked, toilet seat broken, etc. The drinks were nothing but sugar; barely any ice or alcohol. The beach was nice and the water park fun - those are the only redeeming qualities. 0/5 - would not recommend for a visit.

The hotel it self is beautiful and the beaches are kept clean the hotel is about 45 minutes away from the city my only complaint would be that the staff was not the friendliest with an exception of a few bar tenders by the pool area Willy was very nice.

Chose this hotel because of the waterpark. Glad I did because my daughter loved it. The property is very clean and most of the staff was friendly. The food options were better on some days than others, but still very good. The only downside is that there is nothing at all outside of the property. But I already knew that when I booked. If you want to be in area where there is entertainment and shopping nearby, the hotel zone is where you want to be. If you are just wanting to stay within the facility and enjoy yourself, this is a great option. Overall, I would came back again.

reservamos para 3 personas adultas. las camas parecen de nin̈os. les dijimos que nos movieran a un cuarto con una cama king. nos dijeron que no habia disponibilidad. la solution para ellos era traernos otra cama personal. las camas eran todas aguadas. dormimos mal. recomiendo que si ofrezen para 3 personas que al menos las camas por lo menos sean queen y de mejor calidad. We booked for 3 adults. The beds look like they were for kids. We asked them to move us to a room with a king bed. They told us there was no availability. Their solution was to bring us another personal bed. The beds were all watery. We slept badly. I recommend that if they offer for 3 people that at least the beds be queen size and of better quality.

Needs a better menu for restaurants

Terrible experience. I have been traveling to Cancun for 20 years and this is the first poor review I have written after staying at several resorts. Upon arrival, they informed us they only had twin beds and not double beds and we had to move to a king with a pullout to accommodate our group. We later learned this wasn’t true after seeing into rooms. They charged me an extra money for my 6 yo old after arrival claiming I entered him into Expedia as an infant which I had proof was not true and they were not willing to speak with Expedia when I had them on the phone. Our room still had trash and hair all over the floor. Trash was left throughout the property. Front desk was unfriendly and in general staff was not overly friendly at restaurants or bars. Food quality was poor as well. My Mom was roofied at the pool bar. She barely had any drinks and was unable to walk to the room. She continued to vomit and was incoherent. We informed the front desk and he basically acted like I was lying and there was nothing they could do nor were they concerned. I will never stay at a RIU property again. I was so disappointed in this property.

Loved everything!! The beach is so beautiful and we were so happy to be there. First time in hotel and we were so impressed by the atmosphere and staff. So clean and food was great!!!

The dining was excellent and the staff was friendly and amazing. I had a great time and would highly recommend to anyone. I’ll be visiting Rui spots anywhere I can.

I dislike like the food , club and the transportation to and from the airport was terrible.

The entertainment was good. Food was OK but at the buffet they kept running out of some food items very quickly and had to wait. Customer service was not that great compared to other RIU’s we’ve stayed at. Rooms are clean. The beach is very dirty and does not look maintained at all. Also there were no waiters at the beach serving drinks. Almost felt as if they were understaffed.

It was terrible, the staff was so rude the names are Veronica which was one of the staff, Raul is the life guard and Oscar which was the bartender at the swim up bar. Even when you ask for help they didn't want to help at all but give attitude. The transportation around that area is terrible they wanted to charge you more money if u are using U.S money went is unfair. The food was terrible, uncooked no seasoning. The drinks were a hit and miss depending on the bartenders, most drinks were watered down. Then this place doesn't have real party events going on. I came on a Thursday and left Monday. Only party events they have are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This is my first Riu hotel experience that I know they don't have events going on every day. But it's shocking because u would think there will be events on the weekend. I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all and it's boring. They didn't even have clean silverware which is a turn off. Even when you ask for a new one they came back with another dirty one. But like I said before wouldn't recommend at all !!

We enjoyed the Food and Drinks

The food is absolutely awful at every restaurant. The restaurants are open limited hours and there are several times throughout the day that you simply can't find anything of substance to eat (had to give my kid a microwave hamburger). The beds and pillows are terrible and extremely uncomfortable. Pillows are flat and mattress feels old. The location is an hour away, at best, from all activities (of which there are virtually none on property). Their family rooms are only at the corners, including right on top of the sports bar and next to the night club (where we got stuck). They decided to rebuild something in the sports bar after midnight and were hammering like crazy. I tried to call and couldn't get through to front desk. Had to go downstairs THREE TIMES and finally demanded someone come back with me to listen (they claimed it was just the music from the nightclub and no maintenance was occuring). Dude loud as hell in our room at 1am finally heard it. Sid it'd stop immediately. It didn't. For another hour, though it was less frequent. Absolutely would never recommend this property to anyone.

All in all a great place for a family vacation. Food choices were plentiful. The waterpark was great. My 10 year old was in heaven. There were 5 different slides that he could've spent all day just rotating between. They also had 5 different pools and beach access with chairs. My only real complaint was the noise in the hallways in the early morning or late evenings. That, however, has little to do with the resort itself (except maybe needing more sealed rooms/doors or thicker walls) and more about the parents allowing kids to scream and or run and make excessive noise in the hallways. We would return for a family vacation if we decided to come back to Cancun. Transit time from Airport- 45 minutes by private shuttle Transit time to Cancun city- 20 minutes Family of 6 (Grandpa, Grandma, Mom, Dad, Girl (17), Boy (10))

Nice hotel for a quiet getaway.

O hotel tem uma estrutura boa mas poucos funcionários no café da manhã, não conseguia xícaras limpas e café com facilidade. Os restaurantes para jantar são bons e consegui visitar os três, funcionários cordiais e solicitos. Academia bem equipada e área de jacuzzi boa, mas necessita reserva. Poderia ter jacuzzis em área externa tb. Funcionários dos bares da piscina e drinks ótimos.

This is a great place if you have a family. A little too family friendly for a solo traveler seeking any kind of peace. The food was good, the beach is nice, and the staff were all amazing. The rooms are very loud with people seemingly slamming doors at all hours of the night every night. If you are okay with lots of noise and happy little screaming children I definitely recommend this place for you.

We had wonderful time at RIU dunamar. I highly suggest this place. Their service and cleanness is top notch. Staff is very generous and helping kind. They have everything to make our stay enjoyable. I can't get over about RIU party. It was awesome. Only thing i recommended is food can be better. I am vegetarian and not seeing much options.

Food was amazing i read reviews and was worried but once i got there it was way different! Steak house is a must! Wish they had more beer options not a dos xx fan and stores are far and taxis are expensive but mixed drinks hit the spot for this one! Water park is fun kids loved it.. theres a lot of greenery its beautiful there! Will be going back April 2025 and July 2025
