Stayed only one night, but loved it. When I return to Chiang Mai, I will definitely choose this hotel. It’s affordable. The room is beautiful and the hotel itself is spectacularly, attractive, and sensual. Felt like I was staying in some sort of Yoni temple. It’s on a very quiet side street. Our first floor room had a walkout patio. Could not recommend more Haile.
Booked a premium room. Size large but limited space in shower room, needs shelving and coat hooks. The restaurant does not serve evening meals as advertised by Expedia. Breakfast more Thai than European choices. No buffet and found breakfast menu very repetitive.
Excellent value for money
Everything was great
Room was clean and restaurants nearby were excellent. Breakfast at hotel was great.
The ladies at the breakfast and the lady at the front desk were super super nice! We had an amazing experience at Makka. Great location and amazing hotel.
Very comfortable with a great staff. Only disappointment was my television didn’t work all week despite reporting it daily to front desk. Oh well, you don’t go to Chiang Mai to watch TV!
I highly recommend! I am a solo traveller, and I stayed 1 night in June 2023 before heading to an elephant sanctuary for a few nights. Convenient location…3 mins walk to the Sunday night markets. Breakfast was fresh, and you sit in the courtyard overlooking the garden and water features. The room has excellent air conditioning which was a plus. The mattress is a little firm but absolutely fine for a stay. The staff are Uber helpful and tend to your every need. And the mini bar is stocked with bottled water and soft drinks which are all complementary. The street can be hard to locate, but everyone was helpful to point me in the right direction. Look for an alley off a Main Street, then walk 100metres until you find the green hedges. Book with confidence!
Property was in perfect location close to everything, very quiet at night, super friendly and helpful staff. No bugs either!
Absolutely Love this place. Perfect area 2 mins walk to the Sunday night market and more. Clean - Staff are very friendly. Will go back again.
It had a really peaceful feeling, the staff where so welcoming and kind. Breakfast delicious.
The property is tucked away on a smaller side street near Chedi Luang and centrally located. It’s really well designed and the staff are super friendly and attentive. I liked that you ordered from a menu for breakfast instead of a buffet. The property when we stayed was fairly quite and peaceful. Would definitely stay there again.
Makka is a beautifully designed boutique hotel in a quiet street yet in easy walking distance to the main Chiang Mai temples. Breakfast area is in a quiet courtyard garden with lovely water feature. Breakfast menu has both Thai & Western options to choose from & is freshly cooked along with fresh fruit, juice, tea & coffee. If you wish to relax there is the lovely library which has indoor comfy sofas & chairs as well as the ouside terrace with tables, chairs & loungers. Our room was spacious with King bed, tv, spacious shower room. wifi was very good both in the room & library & breakfast areas. Service from all members of staff was exceptional, everyone was so polite & helpful. We would definitely stay at Makka again if we visit Chiang Mai in the future.
Excellent place to stay
Really excellent place to stay. Its a beautiful small property, only 24 or so rooms in one building on two storeys, its perfectly located being down a small side road but pretty much in the heart of old Chiang Mai. Having said that its a very quiet spot and very tasteful in its decor. The only meal served is breakfast but that's on until 1200 daily and is a very good, very plentiful. Well equipped and most comfortable rooms. Teak flooring throughout which can be a bit 'clattery' (upstairs rooms are therefore quieter). Lovely place and I will be back.
per spot
Excellent stay in this small (42 rooms in a two floor block) boutique property. The Hotel is down a side road and thus is quiet even though its central within Chiang Mai. The decor and furnishings are most tasteful and the rooms large and well equipped, the beds being very comfortable. The bathrooms are a touch cramped however. Teak flooring throughout which can be a bit 'clattery' (choose an upstairs room). Ground floor rooms each have a small sitting out area. Breakfasts until 12.00 which is excellent.. no other meals available but so many restaurants within meters of the Hotel. A really very nice stay. We will be back.
We could not find one thing to fault this hotel ..beautiful hotel ..friendly helpful staff who could not do enough to help you and always with huge smiles .The hotel is peaceful ...the decor is stunning and breakfast was amazing .
I loved the ambience and unique design of the hotel. It enhanced the sense of relaxation. The staff were fabulous; helpful, friendly and competent. It was the little extras that made the visit special - towels folded in a lotus pattern, mediations on the walls, the library and amazing breakfast.
Great place.
Well located and exactly what was advertised. Would be happy yo stay there again.
Perfectly located
Nice quiet hotel perfectly located in old Chiang Mai. Excellent breakfast!!!
Recommemed
Good Choice. Beautiful Places
a very nice hotel
- breakfast is good and with a lot of choices - room is nice and clean - very pretty garden - the front desk staff can speak very good English - typical Lanna Style - staff are very friendly and nice
boutique chic
Initial dissatisfaction on being shown to a cramped, dark, twin room when a double had been booked. After reluctantly paying a US$16 per day for only available spacious and light double for our 4 day stay, we relaxed and enjoyed our stay in this elegant and chic boutique hotel Service was fine and the location convenient.
Great hotel; central location.
This hotel is awesome and is right in the center of everything. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean and pretty. Decor is great. The complimentary breakfast is very good. It's a very easy walk (or Uber) to all of the notable night markets/bazaar, and many amazing restaurants. Lots of temples and photo ops nearby. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit.
disappointed
Base on the rate they charged to the room is a bit overcharged. OVERALL Bed is not comfortable, ROOM got mosquitos inside& also a bit old . Just hope the management can upgrade their room.
Try and stay in a Delux or a Suite
We were three people, the initial room we chose was a Superior room which turned out to be matchbox sized after the rollaway bed was installed. We eventually shifted to a Delux room. Try to stay in the second floor not the ground / first floor. The roof is all wood hence there is a lot of noise when the guests walk.
Nice cosy hotel in Chiang mai
We stayed for one night, the breakfast and service was exceptional. They have a nice library great for some reading and relaxing.
Very comfortable stay. It was very close to everything and just steps from the Sunday night walking market and Wat Chedi Luang. The breakfast was very good. And the staff was very courteous and attentive. We would definitely choose this hotel again should we return to the area.
Nice, peaceful hotel
I loved my stay here. It was on a peaceful and quiet street but really well located for walking to the things in the Old Town. The staff was really attentive and helpful. It was my birthday while I was staying there and they gave me a small gift for it. The breakfast each morning was big and delicious. I especially enjoyed the library upstairs; it was a great place to relax.
peaceful!!
Lovely peaceful place....thoroughly enjoyed it! Great room, nice staff, lovely atmosphere, good area, well cared for!
Peaceful haven in the midst of a bustling city.
The temples were inspiring (Wat Pha Singh, Wat Chedi Luang, etc). The most impressive was the visit to Doi Suthep (by the red taxi 50 Bhat) & the understated silver temple.Attended a cultural festival.Took a trip to the Golden Triangle, crossed the Mekong River & entered Laos, visited the opium museum, Chiang Rai & the white temple. Visited the night market (excellent place for bargains & the best seafood in town). Hugely impressed by the museum, cultural centre. Visitedvthe morning market amazed at the range of freh produce & flowers. The old city is easy to navigate. Spent three days in Chian Mai need more than a week to do justice to this great, charming & friendly city.
Nice and cozy hotel
The hotel is nice and cozy! It's close to the Sunday night market which is really nice!
Lovely centrally located hotel
Centrally located in the old town but nice and quiet. Lovely 'library' space with a cool breeze where you can relax and read....I spent most of a day there and the staff were kind enough to bring me fruit and iced water without me even asking!
Live in joy, In peace
I have stayed in fine hotels in many countries, but have never had an experience like being at the Makka Hotel. The environment of Makka correlates perfectly with the atmosphere of Chiang Mail, with its charming streets, and beautiful and historic temples. Returning to the Makka after spending the day visiting these grand sites, I felt I was dwelling in yet another treasured site. Just sitting in the lobby chatting with staff members of the hotel was a delight. Having a sumptuous breakfast every morning on the Makka's patio, surrounded by gardens, was a highlight of my day.
Lovely little guesthouse
Simple and spotless. The Makka is a little oasis. Their breakfast is fresh and hearty with a lovely mix of east meets west. Staff are wonderful. Absolute serenity!!!! Highly recommended.
Very nice
Stayed with another family with a total of 3 rooms. Great location. Staff was exceedingly pleasant and spoke English very well during the day. Helped us get reservations etc. Only had Thai speaking security at night (Google translator is your friend). Great location. rooms somewhat smalbut very pleasant. Very clean. Would only be able to put a roll away in their bigger rooms. Wifi was fine. Great "vibes" with the lotus design. Wish I could of taken advantage of their library. Great breakfast. One of our rooms A/C didn't work one night, miserable night, but were upgraded to a bigger room the following.
Makka - a gem in the old city
We stayed 4 nights in Makka in January 2015 in a Superior room on the second level. The hotel is uniquely designed with Lanna style accents in a modern architectural building. The hotel is small with only 2 levels. We enjoyed our stay at Makka as the staff were very friendly and helpful. The daily set breakfast was also tasty with a good choice of western breakfast and local delights. The servings were substantial and kept us full till late afternoon. I liked how we breakfast was served to the table and you didn't have to jostled with a crowd at a buffet. The library on the 2nd floor is very well designed and offers a space for reading and unwinding. The superior room is quite small with a king-sized bed, television and mini bar fridge. There wasn't much room to open up our suitcases so, we had them on the floor. The bathroom was small as well and not enough space at the sink to place toiletries.
Lovely hotel, great value
All the staff are very friendly and eager to help. We used the hotels airport pickup service which was great value compared to other hotels in CM. We enjoyed the location in the old city. My only advice is to make sure you stay on the top floor as we were woken several times each night from the people walking around their room above us. Would stay here again
Really nice hotel with good location and services
This hotel is really great one. The location is good. It's located in the old city area. Staffs here is very kind with good service mind.
Peaceful Hotel in Old City
What a beautiful hotel! The style and the small numbers of rooms made this feel like a 5 star exclusive retreat. The staff were friendly and very helpful, they booked all our tours (which were excellent) and couldn't do enough for us. This hotel is like a peaceful retreat hidden away down a side street. We would stay here again and loved the feel of the place, very personalised and private.
Lovely ambiance
Makka is a central hotel, good location. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I don't know why it has such a low rating, this maybe because there is no pool, however they do have a beautiful library area. It depends what you want in a hotel, if you want a quiet place to sit and read then this is a great hotel, if you want to splash about in a pool then it is not for you.
周りにたくさんレストランや食堂がありビーガンレストランもある。
Nice boutique hotel but that’s not enough ..
Nice boutique hotel but too many drawbacks. Biggest drawbacks: noisy rooms as you hear everything in the hallways (we had two rooms - both the same), breakfast outdoors only and many bugs that bite, no bar/beer to be bought. Best things: cool design, friendly staff, very central in old town
Mooi hotel centraal gelegen. Zeer vriendelijk personeel. Helaas geen glutenvrije opties voor het ontbijt.
Very clean and nice hotel!
The hotel is located in a very silent area. The hotel style is very nice too!

The hotel's architecture is unique and beautiful. It is full of greenery and antique pieces.
