The second quarter of the year brought with it greater stability and consistency after a turbulent Q1 for the crypto market. Despite the release of further mixed news throughout the quarter, bitcoin recently surged to a one-year high, surpassing $31,000.

We’ve been working behind the scenes on key integrations and partnerships that will improve’s offering, experience, and reach. The recently announced signing of an integration agreement with KAYAK—one of the world’s largest travel metasearch engines—and the listing on Google Hotels are extremely significant and expected to markedly boost’s visibility once fully integrated.

To continue this partnership momentum, our CMO, Sam Woollard, and Global Operations Manager, Radka Wilson, represented at the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) Asia Pacific event in June, connecting with dozens of travel industry representatives across four packed days of networking. These events are invaluable for laying the groundwork for new partnerships and integrations with travel suppliers, hospitality brands, and travel tech companies.

Positive market movements have contributed to consistent total revenue above $5 million in each month of Q2. Several other factors have contributed to this trend thanks to internal developments, including improvements to the overall hotel booking experience, refined marketing strategies to optimise conversions, and the implementation of special hotel rates on the mobile app.

These are incredibly exciting times to be part of the Travala community, with plenty of significant initiatives and integrations underway. The second half of the year is shaping up to be one of the most important periods in our history, and we can’t wait to see the results of all the team’s work come to fruition.

Bookings & Revenue Update

Consistency has been the keyword in Q2 amidst a generally positive quarter for the crypto market. June marked four months in a row of revenue above $5 million, with total Q2 revenue up by over $3 million since the previous quarter ($12.67 million).

Q2 2023 Summary:

  • April revenue: $5,150,660
  • May revenue: $5,499,709
  • June revenue: $5,171,042
  • Total Q2 revenue: $15,821,411
  • Revenue and bookings by vertical: 
    • Hotels: $9,420,011 (24,703 room nights; 59.54%)
    • Flights: $6,355,634 (11,644 flights; 40.17%)
    • Activities: $45,766 (218 activities; 0.29%)
  • Total AVA givebacks: 395,914.93 AVA (approx. $212,177)

Product Update

It’s been a busy first quarter for the product team, with many improvements made predominantly to the hotel and flight booking experience. After months of work, we rounded off the quarter with the Open Passport integration with Dtravel—one of the most highly anticipated products on our roadmap.
