I booked this last minute. I appreciated that a room was available. Parking was on a different floor than my room, but there is no elevator so I had to drag my stuff up and down the stairs. Young man at the front desk was very nice.
Great view, nice location right off 395
beautiful view of wooded creek in fall colors. Comfortable room across the street from a full-service restaurant.
We went for a girls weekend to chase fall foliage and hike. The location is prime outside of yosemite tioga pass and conveniently located driving to all Eastern Sierra hiking spots. It looks like they recently renovated the room. We stayed in room 17 and it had newer carpets in the room and LVP in the bathroom. Had a mini fridge and microwave that was clean and worked which was nice. The view in the back was gorgeous of Mono Lake. I will definitely be staying here in the future.
poor value for the price. Breakfast was a honey bun in plastic wrap. It was across the street from a restaurant. Heard semi-trucks going through town all night. Wouldn't go back. Mike
I’ve passed up this place many times in my travels but decided to try it. Clean and comfortable. Nice areas outside to enjoy the weather and scenery. Great location.
Lovely motel we’ve been staying at for years.
Views not worth the mediocre room
The property is clean but rundown. One lamp didn’t work & slider was difficult to open/lock. For $200 per night I expected a box of Kleenex in room. There are a couple balconies with table & chairs to sit & view Mono Lake which is nice but was right outside our room & had a loud grouo out there one night which made it difficult to sleep. Location is great but view isn’t worth the sub service.
Old but kind of cute. The staff were very nice and helpful and the new management's continental breakfast appreciated. Across the street from a deadly gift store and delightful cafe. Loved the view of Mono Lake (which we visited, very very interesting ecotour!) and the stream below. Star off for the iffy plumbing but very clean. Good for Yosemite visit.
Quaint and quiet. Clean.
Great location to access Yosemite from the east. Clean room, free parking
Room was ok, loud a/c, bed was comfortable.
All good
Conveniently located, needs upgrading and a refrigerator.
Friendly and helpful staff. Clean property, older building but kept up nice. Comfy beds and walkable to food and grocery
We loved our view room. It was situated right at the edge of the highway but that side didn't have any windows so we thankfully didn't hear traffic while trying to sleep. Sadly a loud motorcycle and truck parked right near our room's entry left before dawn, waking us up far too early. The only negatives were the ridiculously meager breakfast (better to not offer one at all) and the old shower fixtures etc. We had plenty of hot water and pressure was good too. Mattresses were great! There's a great breakfast option across the street - go there instead!
The place is clean and the c people in the lobby are friendly
Nice balcony view.
I liked the view from the windows.
Nice property and good location
Good location. Updated property. They have initiated a light breakfast that needs to be further refined but since we were not expecting it at the time of arrival it was a nice small surprise. Most members of our group in fact did not use the breakfast and went across the street for more robust options for breakfast food.
We reserved room less than an hour before check in and the hotel had our reservation. But the room assigned to us was already occupied. Staff gave us a better room, so we're not complaining. Something is wrong with the system.
Close to Yosemite.
Lovely view from the room. Very nice check in experience. Room was clean and spacious. No Air conditioning but the temperature was pleasant and we left the door open with the screen.
Great location in a great place
It was fine great location. A basic motel that has been cleaned up. Cantal breakfast was not worth eating. Staff was very nice.
This property was old with some updated features. Bed was comfortable but the room was hot with no A/C. We left the window open and used the fan on high but one window did not open so the air circulation capability was low. We did not sleep well and the motel is on the main street so we could hear traffic with the window open. The patio was shared with the room next door so we did not feel comfortable leaving the door open so air could circulate with strangers able to access the room. We also killed 2 spiders in the room.
Stayed at this motel for a quick night. Primarily used as a stopping point between Reno and Yosemite Park. It was perfect for my needs and check-in/check-out was quick and easy. Parking was a bit tight if you have a truck/SUV, but otherwise it’s fine. Front desk staff was very friendly and got me sorted right away when I arrived. The bed was alright and the bathroom had everything except for body wash. For me, since I was only staying a few hours to sleep before heading into Yosemite, it was perfect. There is a diner across the street that stays open late so that’s nice. There are some gas stations in the area as well if you need to prepare for the long drive into the park. Plan to explore more of the park in the future and will be back as it served all of my needs.
The hotel was a great location to enter on the east side of Yosemite. It had a great family room! Room was clean and well-maintained.
I guess most use this as a transit place to stay after or befor visit to Yosemite. Up front we did not expect much from teh accomonsation but is was surprisingly good; very clean , great staff and a very nice surpise is the complimentary continental breakfast with good coffe, yogurt and fresh fruit that is better than breakfasts at other locations. very nice to sit outside in the morning. The photo's do not do justice to the accomodation. In real life it's nicer.
Nice little hotel in a nice little town. Beautiful view. Could do more for breakfast spread.
Very overpriced. It’s an old, runs down, exterior motel, very much deserving of a 2 star rating. Noisy AC, thin worn towels… for $250/night there are better options - keep on searching.
Nice, quiet.
Room was comfortable and quiet. We were Able to chose a room on the backside downstairs off the road. Other rooms are right off the sidewalk. Nice big fan. No refrig. Breakfast was small but had coffee, juice, fruit.
Great little old motel, and great views out the back. But if you are wanting a modern facility this is not for you. It’s more a vintage experience. Some rooms don’t have air conditioning so are quite stuffy when it’s hot. Nice staff.
No air conditioning. Unsafe stairs on lower levels. Cute older motel.
Friendly staff, very clean rooms, comfortable beds and great view of Mono Lake. We had room 12 and it had a nice balcony. Fortunately there was a room fan and two windows to open as the temps were 108 and no AC. The room cooled down at around 10p.m. If you’re looking and needing AC, you may need to stay elsewhere when the temps are high. Otherwise, a nice stay.
It reminded me of staying in motels when I was a kid, but everything inside was updated (tub, paint, carpet, etc.). Very nice, really enjoyed it. Would definitely bring my family back.
Great viewd
Tied Motel, Helpful and friendly staff
Good location for us; nice view off of shared balcony. Walls a little thin with a young family next door.
This is a classic old motel in a quaint little town just outside Yosemite’s Tioga entrance. Room was clean and just what we needed for the night. Would absolutely recommend to anyone who isn’t a hotel snob.
Great place for the night. My only issue was with the water, took a while to get hot but great once it did.
Great location, very clean
We had to carry luggage down 2 flights of stairs. We requested a ground floor room
Excellent but when the HWY 120 is closed it adds 3 hours to Yosemite drive and should be posted on Expedia so people won’t book and be disappointed
Comfortable room with all the facilities. We recently stayed at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas, however this Motel was much better!
Close to the main road with nice lake view.
Lovely
Convenient and easy parking and check in/out. Clean room with comfy bed. Fairly quiet. Just wish the shower was warmer.
It was excellent
Wonderful sunrises and sunsets from the back cliff.
Meh at best
Room’s heater doesn’t work. No late check out, no soap or shampoo, no tv remote and no channel button on tv. Bed was comfy when not waking up cold.
A little run Down
I like lake view of this room.
There is note on the bathroom wall that tells you not to flush toilet paper, but to put it in the trash can. That is third world.
We only stayed 1 night as this was a stopping point on our trip. It is clean and quiet. Has a decent view, which I'm sure looks a lot better when there isn't a storm coming in. Parking is not the easiest as the lots are small and tight. We had a problem with the t.v. but the staff came right down to fix it for us. Overall i would recommend this motel and i would stay here again.
Rustic but clean. Nice view of Mono Lake. Room was comfortable
No hot water for shower
Yosemite Gateway Motel
I stayed one night. Room was OK. I didn't like the glass sliding door entry. Locks on sliding door and screen door were very difficult to operate. Stairs outside could use some work. Parking was good but a little far from my room. Check in/out was easy. Staff was friendly. I would stay here again.
Good location nearby the entrance of Yosemite. rooms are small and not so clean
Overpriced for the condition of the property.
Just a basic place to stay on the way to Yosemite, on the main road. Good restaurant just across the street. Nothing special at all about it. Fine for a night -- but when the people came in (we were on lower floor) there was lots of noise of suitcases rolling in, etc. I'd get the top floor if I went again.
Unexpected surprise
What a great place to stay, such a surprise, amazing view of lake mono, and to have Nicelys diner across the road a real bonus
View of lake
Veis is great and comfortable bed but place is old and right next to highway so quite loud and there are ants that march thru under front door and into walls and your trash if left in room
Nice
Great stay at the motel.
Clean and in convenient location
Property is old but kept up. Clean. Looks like they are trying to make a lot of improvements and have done so already. WINDOWS need to be replaced. Screens are torn or bent. The windows are are steel or heavy alum from 50 or 60 years ago. Very hard and noisy to open and close. Over priced for what you get. Paid $179 a night with no air, no breakfast, no phone, no clock. Paid that much at the Yosemite Southgate in Oakhurst with very full amenities. Over priced.
Will not be back!
Oldish style trying to look fresh but still lacking. No mini fridge, no microwave. No bath, just shower. Two out of three windows did not lock, which is unsafe to me considering street level on 395. The doors have not had a coat of paint in 50 years and the wear shows. The walls are so thin, we could hear the guy next door snore all night during the first night and the second night, he was on the phone at 6:30am and I can translate word for word what he said. The mosquito screen door did not shut close, so what is the point having one? Decor is hodgepodge, 50’s trying to be 90’s. This place needs a total update, not just fix one thing and not all of it. And the faucet drip all night…there are MUCH nicer places around for the same price. The area is superb though!!!
Enjoyed our deck view . Staff was friendly . Our shower drain didn’t work as well as bathroom door. there was no fridge and the over all ambiance was of a 2 star hotel.
Service
The view on the balcony was awesome, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was adequate. The service was less than desirable as we had to ask for new towels and coffee each day. They didn’t clean the bathroom the third day but finally got it right the last day. I think there was a little bit of a language barrier.
Met our expectations.
Overall a great experience
Cockroaches
We loved View from Motel and Town was very convenient to Yosemite National Park. I would recommend this Motel to everyone visiting with Family.
Pretty views , cute and clean room . Easy checkin
We always have a great experience staying at this property.
Pls be aware this property has a room w out an A/C . I PAID over 200 dollar for a room w out an A/C in Summer. It was too dark and ask them to turn the patio light and they said that doesnt work. The light switch doesnt work so went and ask and they said the lamp works not the light switch next to the door. And noticed bit stuffy but didnt think I didnt have AC.... got kids out from the car and brough them to the room and started noticing lot more ... The windows were all open w a broken screen. And NO AC. so I went back to the office and ask why our room doesnt gave AC? Or all ur unit doesnt have AC?....but the front desk closed and left. Expedia and I both called emergency number bc there was no way we can stay like this..... Yet no one is Answering Emergency LiNe. So basically I paid over 200 dollar for a room w out AC w no help. I tried to find another hotel but none close by had a vacancy...
Never again! Right on the Main Street, trucks roar by all night. King size rooms lack microwave and/or fridge, and no breakfast is on offer. There are better choices in Lee Vining!
Great place for a one night stay. We were passing through and had a reservation. Staff was very friendly. The hotel is quite old and needs some renovations. Our room had no A/C. The entrance to the room is a sliding glass door so we just slept with the door open and screen closed and it was quite comfortably. There was a raging river down below so you could hear it.It was nice.
This property was amazing! We were near mono lake, mammoth and Yosemite! Such a convenient location and the property itself was quite nice. I’d stay here again!
Nice place to stay
We chose this place knowing that we can explore the Yosemite park. Unfortunately it was a bad timing. Park was close. We like the gateway motel it was clean and the bed was comfortable. When i walk in i felt that i was in a nice hotel. There was a restaurant across that we spend our dinner. No breakfast when we leave at 6am they were still close.I dont complain..except that i did not get to see the park.traveling out of state was a disappointment.
Arrived late so nobody there, but keys left for us. Room comfortable
Great view. Balcony chairs a nice touch.
We stayed 1 night on our way to South. Old school motel with great view of Mono Lake. Room was comfortable; bathroom could use an update but overall clean. Lovely diner across the street that was clean with a great menu. Street noise is obvious in the room so bring a noise machine.
Bad customer service.. unable to reach out the staffs by phone when you got problem issue with your reservation.
Our family really enjoyed this place since you have a lot options to visit.
Nice views
Great place to stay. The room is big and very clean. The rooms take full advantage of the beautiful view.
Right on the main road nice view.
No water pressure in the shower. They did offer another room and allowed me to change rooms before check in so I would not have to deal with stairs
No one working at the desk until 2pm
Overall it was Excellent!!!! Super Clean Bathroom was best experience. Gonna stay there next year.
Obviously, the property was undergoing a cleanup preparing for the upcoming tourist season, but the room was clean with a very comfortable bed.
Clean
Like: very clean, recently updated, nice view. Not like: only one eating choice in the area.
Great view on the the Mono Lake!
Great place to stop after leaving Yosemite
The room was nice and clean with a comfortable bed and view of the lake (which I didn't really get to take advantage of since I arrived late in the day.) The bathroom had a very updated shower and granite counter top, but the vanity below was pretty scraped up. It would look much better with a bit of a touch up at least. Entering the room was through a sliding glass door, which was a bit odd. In general I had a very good stay and would recommend it. I also enjoyed dining at the little restaurant across the street called Nicely's.
Very nice welcome at the front desk, room is perfect and very clean. I loved it!
Fantastic spot, kind and accommodating staff. Clean, warm, comfortable and the perfect place to stay for access to Yosemites east entrance and exploring Mammoth and June Lakes areas!
We were not told until checkin that there would be no power from 10pm to 6am
Fairly basic but lovely location.

Nice place and convenient to good restaurant across the street and central to area attractions. Would stay there again except that the beds in our room were horribly uncomfortable. Awoke every morning with bad back ache. Not worth the pain.
