Fine for a quick stay
We needed a place to stay overnight while driving from Texas to Maryland. The hotel is fine. It is a bit aged and could use an update, e.g. changing the carpets. However, it is clean and the staff is friendly.
Stay was average to below. I say this because we had to figure out that two light bulbs were burnt out and then after we had been out and were tired and getting in bed, learned that our heater in room did not work. We were provided with another same room and had the engineer check heater before we moved all our things. This property is very dated and they will begin a partially remodeling soon. Found trash on floors in room so just had not been vacuumed and cleaned as well as expected. Service from 2 out of 3 staff members was great.
I love the overall environment, cleanest & comfort of our room.. the location was great
Not horrible, but not good - would NOT recommend.
There was nothing outstanding about this property. I guess it was a step above, 'completely unacceptable,' because we didn't leave and cancel. The service was good, the food was fine, the shower and restroom were ok, and the bed itself was comfortable enough, BUT: There were weird-looking stains on the bedspread. My wife said she felt like there were crumbs in the bed. The carpet was all stained up. The chair in the room looked and felt dingy and dirty. My wife got irritated with me every time I set anything on it and didn't want me to sit in it. There were also weird crumbs around the fridge, on top of its door, etc., like that area had been completely ignored by the cleaning staff. I don't know that life will ever take me back to Lagrange, but if it does... I will be making alternate accommodations.
This hotel need some serious upgrades. The room where I stayed was very dated. There was water damage to the ceiling, there are water damage/mark on cuttons, chairs and the room was very dirty.
Cleanliness
The rooms were very dirty. We had to switch rooms & each was just as bad as the other. Stains on the sheets. Hair on toilet, tub walls, floor & bathroom walls. Mold on the shower walls. Two bugs in the bath. No hot water. Broken tub drain. Broken toilet paper roll. Paper was sitting on top of the dispenser. The worst was when the blowdyer caught fire upon turning it on. In the room they moved us to, the refrigerator did not work. The hallway floors were very dirty. There were rocks & debris all over. They were not vacuumed for the three days/ two nights, we were there. There was a straw wrapper that never moved. I have never experienced anything like that before. I did let management know and they didn’t seem concerned.
Nothing the property needs to be updated.
Property needs updating. Bathrooms were undesirable with VERY low toilets and black mold on the inside of the door. Carpets were dingy and discolored, wall had spots and areas that looked dirty or discolored. It did have clean sheets and no bed bugs.
The lobby smelled like armpits/body odor.
Close to attractions. Quiet. Easliy Accessible. Clean and friendly.
Good stay
Everything was at least adequate and acceptable.
Quiet and convenient
The bathroom wallpaper had mold on it. The room had ripped and stained carpet. It definitely needs a remodel.
Would not stay again.
Booked a room for 3 but there was only one bed. Had to ask for a rollaway. They brought it up without any sheets or blankets. When I requested those they told me I had to come get it because they were busy. The mattress was in horrendous condition. Had so many holes in it and was flat in the middle. The pillows were awful. The hotel itself was older. Upon arrival I received a text saying if I needed anything to reply to that message, which is when I first asked for the rollaway and no one ever responded to that text. Could hear the people above us talking until 2am. Location was great and it was mostly clean but we won’t be back.
There are a couple of issues with my stay. When we arrived the woman at the desk was awesome, we had no issues with her at all. We loaded our stuff and got on the elevator to go to our room and the elevator stopped working. We were trapped on the elavator for 45 minutes which was very stressful for my wife. We used the call box and the fire dept came and let us out. They shut down all elavators until a technician could come out and give the OK. The staff member said that she would talk to her bosses about possibly taking something off of the bill for our inconveniece. Not only did we not receive anything off my bill, we had an additional charge. My bill was as follows: 238.73 initial charge and an additional charge of 120.34 totalling $359.07. Bottom line, I can get spend my money somewhere else and get a much better return.
The lobby was nice but the area around the elevator really needs painting and cleaning up. Room was nice but there was black mold/mildew on the shower tile.
Not a good not sleep. The was a loud noise coming from generator/ or boiler room all night. I also had a bug in the room
Loved our Stay
Quite and Cozy getaway from the hustle and bustle of Metro Atlanta.
Convenient location . Was able to do pre check prior to arrival.
The carpet on the floor in the room looks so dirty you don’t even want to step on it barefoot. Walls and ceiling in the bathroom are covered with mold.
We have been staying at the Wingate in Lagrange every year for the past seven years. We even got married in Lagrange and our guests also stayed at the hotel. This was the first time we were disgusted and felt dirty during our stay. We were handed keys to a room that was literally falling apart, the shower curtain was hanging its last thread, there was spilled coffee on wall, and dirty hand and feet prints on another wall. We were upgraded to a suite for the inconvenient but the suite had a broken table, jelly on the wall, stains on the couch, and smelled of urine. We heard there is new management at this location, they need to do better. We won’t be staying there again.
On the road, this is a comfortable, unpretentious stay.
WASN'T NOT PLEASED WITH THE BREAKFAST.
Bed was comfortable & room was clean. However Thin walls & Loud tv playing next door disturbed the comfort of the stay
I was disappointed. I expected better from anywhere with the Wyndham name on it. It all seemed dingy and unkempt. Additionally, there were places that needed repairs that had obviously been left unattended. It felt old and forgotten. Cracked floor tiles throughout the lobby and elevators. Spill stains inside the bathroom door. Stains on the bed duvet. Bathroom sink vanity broken and rough where tissue box should be. Metal hanging down unattended. Ceiling over 2nd floor ‘balcony’ falling. We won’t be staying in a Wyndham hotel again any soon.
Check in, cleanliness, and courtesy were all on point
Not great
It was listed as an “Excellent” property but I’m not sure how.. it wasn’t clean- my room had old, stained carpet, plus dirty walls. When I pulled back the top of the duvet, there was a stain on it. The room air system is also old- it was stuffy in the room and you could only feel air if you stood directly in front of the vents. Only half of the lamps worked because the other half were missing bulbs. Plus the internet connection kept dropping throughout the night. Overall, not a great stay.
Some things were a little out dated however great place for the price. Bed very comfortable
Total disappointment
Absolutely will never stay here again. Went to sit on the bed and felt something wet. It was urine! Called front desk and they were very gracious and moved our room but it wasn’t too terribly much better. Refrigerator had ketchup spilled out in it. Asked about discount due to issues but because it was booked through third party they said they couldn’t. Total disappointment.
Great
It was a comfy bed and a quiet hotel. Staff were great and patient.
The room was not very clean. The refrigerator did not work. Some personal hygiene items were left in the bathroom from previous guests.
The front desk staff were very nice and accommodating. The rooms were dated and the carpets were probably clean, but looked dirty because of stains. Towels had stains on them. Stayed 2 nights and had no maid service during stay, in fact they took our towels but didn’t replace them. Bed not made. Ran out of tissues and no replacement. Trash not emptied.
Very sweet staff
Could have a better breakfast, the food was always stale, dried out, even at the very start of breakfast. Paid $4 for an ice cream cone that had previously melted and refrozen, tasted old and freezer burnt. The mattress cover was nasty, with stains and dried blood all over it, the white comforter was filthy, and replacement blanket had blood stains on it. Just a little more attention to details and underlying cleanliness needs to be a priority
Customer service.
The carpets could've used cleaning. One of our towels was stained. Other than that bathroom and room was clean. Had enough items like towels, tissue, etc. Staff was awesome.
Overall everything was ok. Expected more updates such as USB outlets. Shower fixtures need to be replaced. Water took a long time to heat up. The bed was comfortable and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I did see the owner driving around in his Tesla truck but he never said a word and seemed to be in a bad mood this morning and yesterday afternoon when we were checking in. For the price I expected it to be better than it was. I have stayed in Lagrange a few times and there are hotels that are $30-40 per night cheaper and in the same shape.
First room was filthy and had what looked like DOG POOP in the corner. Second room was better but not as many beds but cleaner and roomy. Breakfast was awful. Overall nice facility but would not stay there again.
Stains on the carpet and on the couch and chair
The breakfast was great the room was excellent
It was great clean and everyone was helpful
We enjoyed our stay!
Great, but...
Not enough walk-in showers for handicaps. Only one Room!
The room we were given was unclean even finding makeup left behind on floors as they were unvacummed no coffee pot in rm was not pleased
Bad experience
This hotel is very outdated. The chair in our room had something on the side of it and the chair itself had stains all over it. There was mildew around the air vent in the bathroom and all over the tile in the shower. The hotel had a bad musky odor especially when you came off the elevator onto the third floor. We did not eat any of the free breakfast after seeing the flies in the muffin and bread case on the counter. Would not stay at this hotel again.
Wouldn’t recommend
Room had stains on the carpet and walls. Pillows were so small, smaller than a throw pillow. Tub was stained. Freezer was so frozen over you couldn’t use it. Two light bulbs were missing and one was burnt out, we went to the front desk to ask for replacements and were told they didn’t know where they were and could have maintenance call us at 11pm. Unlikely to stay again. Wouldn’t recommend, it would be worth spending more to have nicer staff and cleanliness.
Hospitality
The lady that works at front desk, the day I checked in and out was very rude and unprofessional.
Very convenient location with easy access to area attractions, dining and shopping options. I have stayed at this property in the past and returned since my first visit was satisfactory. Staff was helpful and breakfast offered a variety of food choices.
It was good! I was surprised when I went to the desk the young man there had no idea where the nearest Dominos was but even more surprising…did not even know the address of the hotel? Nor did he get up to try and find out! Just said “He didn’t know”. Oh well…I found it on my own!
The location was great, very easy to find. Everything was clean and fresh as far as room, towels, bedding, breakfast area, reception and pool. The only complaint I had was due to the a/c unit in the room. The thermostat was a little hard to figure out especially w/ no instructions. Our room temperature never dropped down under 75 degrees even after we set it to 70.
Water in tub was not able to be shut off; filthy and outdated room; sample shampoo and soap bottles were used and empty (not replaced); carpet stunk (sour smell) in halls; toilet paper holder broken, drapes did not draw properly which let light in from outside; large bottom draft on room door let LOTS of light in and had to use towels to cover it up. door was cut too high from floor; will never stay there again or recommend for $130 (way too expensive and severely overrated); this place is in severe need of renovation; desk clerk was pleasant and breakfast was fair to good;
My sheets were soil upon arrival and had to wait awhile for replacement. My last day my heart med's and a sun hat were taken.
Overall, the place was okay. It's definitely good to stay for a night, but not for multiple nights. Upon check-in, I had to sign a form saying there was a charge for smoking as this was a no-smoking building. However, as soon as we walked into the lobby, all we could smell was cigarette smoke. So, I thought that was a bit odd. One elevator was out of service and the bathtub didn't drain very well. We had to turn off the shower every couple of minutes to let the water drain and not flood the bathroom and the walls are paper thin, so I could hear everything that was going on in the room next door and they weren't very quiet, so I didn't really get much rest. The breakfast options are okay. The pancake machine wasn't working. However, they did offer Georgia grown peaches which was cool. They also had water available in the lobby which was nice as well.
Upon entering the room it was cool (which was good). Upon further inspection of the room, I noted the coffee maker lid to be dirty. Once the lid to the coffee maker was removed the part where you pour water into was disgusting. It was apparent that it has not been cleaned or inspected. The tray beside the coffee maker was dirty with brown stuff (maybe coffee was spilled on it previously). We wanted some ice for our cups we brought from home and when I removed the lid to the ice bucket there was mold on it. Stuff on the wall that looked like smeared nasal drainage. Three pillows on each bed that is the size of a couch decor pillow. We brought our own. There wasn’t any noisy customers. There were no issues with checking in or out. Some of the breakfast items were not fresh. We went to a drive thru restaurant nearby for breakfast. The refrigerator in the room does not have a freezer in it. We brought protein shakes in our cooler with ice packs hoping we could freeze the ice packs for the trip back home. We stayed here about 2-3 years ago and it was excellent! I don’t know what has happened since then but we were very disappointed especially considering the amount we paid. There was a good amount of dust in the room and bathroom.
The Room was dirty. Dead bugs everywhere, carpet was disgusting. Stains on the wall. Furniture had stains. Molded ceiling tiles in the hallway, the blower in the bathroom was held together by duct tape. Will never stay at this hotel again.
limited parking terrible odors in hall way only 1 elevator working which sounded like it was going to quit anytime terrible room service- made bed 1 in 4 days left a bag on clean towels & wash cloths outside door staff not friendly at all
Hard to find a parking space
Overall it is good. Breakfast is pretty simple… My room only has one bedside table which is problem for 2 people staying…
The hotel is in need of some TLC. One of the elevators is out and by the reviews, it’s been out for a long time. There was black mold starting to grow in our bathroom shower. Someone needs to put some money into this place and do some major cleaning and upgrades. It has the potential to be great. The bed was comfortable and the staff were very kind and easy to speak with.
Comfortable and clean...needs some love
Older hotel that needs some love. Clean and beds were comfortable. Close to anything you might need. Quiet. Friendly service. Not sure why there was a sugn that stated there would be an $8 charge for breakfast and $10 parking fee. Wasn't charged for parking. But we didn't eat breakfast so can't address this. Cracker Barrel was right down the road. Both were advertised as free on website. Overall ood one night travel stay.
In desperate need of renovation. Dirty carpet in room, broken door safety lock, cracked tile, etc
The property was in a good location. The room was OK, but the toilet in the bathroom was very low to the floor I've never seen a toilet that low. I'm a senior and have problems with my legs.It was very difficult for me
Mr
Just wanted to get away from a night!
They did not clean our room nor provided clean towels.
Clean room
The room was real clean and the bed was real comfortable. Ac worked real good. Although the hallway on our floor had pieces of trash down the hallway and the elevator floor was filthy. The breakfast was fair, but would like to had more variety of stuff. Over all it was a good stay am was satisfied.
Music being played in room somewhere most of night
It was a nice stay clean breakfast was good good housekeeping was great every thing was clean pool was clean no one standing on the outside smoking
Wingate Hotel
i enjoyed my stay at Wingate hotel. i will be visiting again soon
It was Amazing
It's right off the highway.
Great quick stay
Very quiet stay, easy to get around, would choose again. Staff was very friendly
The rooms are nice and comfortable. And overall the hotel is clean. You can tell that the hotel has been there for a while, when you look at things like the wallpaper, the grout in the showers, and even to the point where one of the two elevators seems to have been broken for the last two years. All this means is it is time for a little Tender, loving care and some major updates. The work staff and the cleaning staff do a phenomenal job ensuring the customer is treated correctly and efficiently. I look forward to my next day at Wingate Lagrange.
Never again at this hotel
This hotel was not up to standards. When you walked into the room it had this smell as if it was shut up for a lo g time. Discoloration of the walls/carpets throughout the room. The bathroom door panel coming up.Bloody female hygiene product left under bed. Prior to going to the room, the front desk had a sign up to upgrade to suite for $35. plus tax, I asked about it and front desk lady with her rotten teeth was so rude how they she spoke to me about it "no we no longer offering it all suites are taken now" I stated if that was the case why its still up there. She stated she will take it down when she have time. It one of those school plastic stand anyone cam reach out and sit it behind the counter. I have video of this room. I had to buy air freshner let alone spray my perfume.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The hotel was quiet. One comment, maybe a paint job to freshen it up! Otherwise, I will stay in there again my next visit!
Not kept up while
The hotel seems to be a little bit in disrepair, there were cracks in the caulking, some old growing in the tile, grout, stains here and there, etc. We arrived and checked in without fair, the staff was welcoming and nice and helpful. When we went into the suite and Opened the sofa bed, we found that as we tried to make the sofa bed, the sheets were dirty, and there were no pillowcases. When we grabbed the second bag of bed linens, it appeared that those had been opened and potentially used and stuff to pack in the bag , as nothing was folded. Also, in a room that was booked for five people, there were two bath towels, so we had to go down to the desk and get more bath towels in addition to clean bed linens. also, there were clearly dried spills on the control panel for the HVAC, there were dirt stains on the bathroom door inside of the mini fridge. Also, one of the outlets had a working lower receptacle, but not upper receptacle.
It is clean but tired
Served it's purpose...
Got in late, around midnight. Check-in was ok, although the front desk attendant acted like we were inconveniencing her during the check in process. On our second day there, housekeeping went into our room while we were gone, and took all of our towels and wash cloths. Yes, they had been used but they were hanging on the back of the door to be used again. We did not ask for turn down service, so there is no reason they should have even been in my room. When I went to get more later that evening, I was told that they did not have anymore. The night attendant finally found some pool towels that were slightly larger than a hand towel.
This hotel was very accommodating to our needs. We traveled as a family of five and found our room to be spacious and comfy. Would definitely recommend 100%
Clean
My stay was so amazing, clean spacious room I loved it, I will definitely be returning to this hotel. Staff is very friendly and nice
Nice weekend getaway
Very friendly family ran the place and they were ver attentive
It was fine for the price they charged and in a good location for me. I had difficulty controlling the temp in my room but other than that it’s a good place to stay
Curtain was torn and part of coffeepot missing, however they promptly gave me another coffee pot part when I told them. I only notified them of the curtain as I was leaving.
Review of my stay
The overall stay was good the staff was very nice and friendly, the smell of the rooms you could tell were clean by the maids very well. My issues was one of the elevators was broken. The ice machine on our floor was broken. The floor in front of the air conditioner was messed up from where condensation or it had gotten wet. The nightstand on my wife side of the bed was broken and would not hold anything. All of the furniture in the room was pretty worn and needed to be replaced, except for the TV, the refrigerator didn’t get very cold in the room either. So staff get a 5 star. Cleanliness of what was able to be taken care of 5 star. Condition of the building 2 stars, definitely needs repairs. I don’t think the stay was worth 376$ and will not do it again, and honestly would like half of my money back since the building was half functional and not worth 376$.
The carpet had many stains. Very dusty all around. The air conditioner had a musty smell. Limited breakfast choices.
Poor Management/Oversight
The room had a very bad urine odor that we didn’t notice right away due to the overcompensated carpet deodorizer. My children asked me later in the night what the really bad smell in the room was and it was so strong that it prevented me from sleeping on that side of the room next to the occasional chair that was very soiled. I’m not sure if the urine was in the chair or carpet but it needs immediate attention.
We had roaches in our fridge the bathtub was stained and the staff when I needed something were awful there was only one lady who was sweet as pie but the others were so freaking rude and couldn’t help me out at all.
So so
This property is aging very quickly
A very nice, clean, and comfortable hotel, with a good hot breakfast.
Only one elevator was working. The hallway on our floor smelled like dead seafood. Someone had cooked crab legs in their room then placed the box with leftovers on the floor outside of their room. It was left there for several hours. The carpet in the room was in bad need of cleaning. There were numerous stains. I didn’t notice until morning that there were what looked like mold stains on one of the pillowcases.
Clean spacious rooms helpful staff
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms needed a little updating. Overall was a good experience.
Spider web was in the shower…room thermostat (on the wall) was on heat. Unit at the window on cool- didn’t notice the one on the unit until after we came back from our engagement. The room was extremely cold!
Many of the lightbulbs in the room were missing. The toilet paper holder was missing. The thermostat was broken and the room was very, very cold. Possessions of the previous guest were left in the room. This was one of the higher priced properties in the area. They should have done better.
Property ok. There are way too many semi trucks parked in front of hotel. Makes it look a cheap hotel
Nice bed good
When we first went into our room there were piles of hair on the floor, and we killed multiple cockroaches in the room during our stay. We have stayed at the hotel multiple times over the last 10 years, and had great experiences. However, it has been about 2 years since our last stay and the property’s upkeep and cleanliness has definitely gone down hill over that time.
