Run down Motel right at New England Hwy. Pool closed. It was good for us and cheap.
Old smelt of mould
Photos of this property were obviously taken 10 years ago! So run down. I’ve stayed in many motels all over the country/world and this would have to be the worst place we’ve ever stayed. There were hairs on the pillows. My kids complained of being able to feel what felt like dirt at the end of the bed. The door between main bedroom and kids bedroom didn’t close! Bathroom doors didn’t close and looked so dirty! I don’t think floor had been mopped between stays! No soap supplied! No room key given! Just a written key code on a post it note! Seriously don’t know how this place is still running! Save your money or spend $30 more and stay elsewhere!
couldn't pay me to stay there again, my door code expired a day before I was due to check out. No staff were in the office or around the motel, no one answered phone after 6 hours of being locked out I had to call a lock smith to break into the room for me, left voice mails and a personal message, no one contacted me after I left to tried to make anything right
Property is very old and unkept. It is falling apart. Room smelt like cigarettes. Will not go back
Budget accommodation at reasonable price
Rooms out the back are decent 3-star standard, with signs of wear and tear but clean and functional. Front of building looks very rundown and cannot comment on these rooms. Owner was very helpful.
Nice grape vine
This would be my in my top 3 of worst motels ever stayed in. We were allocated room 15 after our room 1 was not ready at 2.45pm at check in. The room was grubby, dusty and in dire need of renovation. The bathroom ceiling mouldy. Curtains ill-fitting and torn in places. I have photos to back up my assessment. Never again.
Cleanliness and bed was nice
It is old and run down and is clearly not being maintained by the owners.
Property close to services and staff were very friendly and helpful
Comfortable, clean
Peeling paint in the room. Outside facade and door were filthy. Traffic noise from the nearby road was very loud.
Located on the main street but towards the southern end of town. Exterior of the property could use some attention (tidy up). No frills but a comfortable night's stay.
Some necessary updates were done to the room but more needs to be done to justify the price. Grounds were terrible.
The property is very run down and in need of major renovations. Dust and cobwebs all over the walls mould in the bathroom. A bed that needed to be thrown out years ago. When you layes down blood rushed to your head and one side of the mattress completely lacked any support at all. The hot water failed, it was like all the rooms are connected from water pressure prespective because I was halfway through my shower when I lost all hot water pressure. Not enjoyable trying to wash the soap off with a dribble of water. Walls very thin, people in joining room left there TV of all night so that was all you could hear when trying to sleep The worst part however was thst our room door would not lock. They have keypad locking system but once we opened the door it would not lock, solution was to just use the chain on the door. No matter what the owner tried it wouldn't lock. While the owner was pleasant on the phone and answered all my calls it was all the other things that made thia worst place I have ever stayed and I would not recommend anyone stay here.
I arrived at 5.30. I thought it was a disused motel. No one at reception. Poor lighting. Texted reception. They told me to go to Room 15. It was pitch black. There was only one car - a Ute next to my room out the back. Wolf Creek vibes. I asked for room out the front. They said the rooms were dirty but said I could have room 9. The pin didn't work. I asked for a refund. They said okay. But I got charged. Currently arguing with them. Stay wide clear unless you're a movie producer looking for a serial killer's hunting ground. This is just the place for you.
Old fashion through the wall air con too loud to sleep, when hot shower turned on water flowed through the wall tiles & down the bathroom floor, power point in bathroom did not work, for elect. use power board on bed table.I can't believe this room would be let out in this condition.
Incredibly shabby and aircon in dire need of repair. Bathroom revolting. Only one PowerPoint with extension. Only one bedside lamp. On the upside we didn’t get bedbugs!
The rooms are very old and out dated You can’t adjust the aircon unit It smells of mould The bed was terrible The pictures on wotif need to be updated Never again
Clean but very old and in need of a renovation
Cheap motel. Room was ok but nothing else.
Excellent service, very neat refurbished motel, good facilities
The only positive comment I can give during check in at this motel was the girl at the reception counter was super Nice.
Quick easy check in
We stayed out the back which was peaceful, and private, the girl on the front desk was lovely, it just needs a good clean and updated and it would be a great awesome motel.
I would not recommend the property at all it was crawling with cockroaches I used a tin of spray to kill them they were up the wall in the toilet and all over where the toaster cutlery were and crawling over the floor
Mould on ceiling over shower towel rail just hanging lights over the bed don’t work one hanging of the wall old units need revamping have been let go can hardly see the sign at night entrance blocked had to use a unlit entrance sorry having travelled and stayed in motels for years this I believe would be the worst went to office at 8 pm to check out no lights no one there so we left
Friendly service
Great reception welcome.
Pet friendly. Needs wifi.
It was very rundown and room smelt bad
The motel is old and outdated. No facilities on property ie WiFi, bathroom taps miss labeled and shower screen missing panel so water goes everywhere
Garden and pool area were overgrown and unkempt, very unappealing from the street. Room was basic but clean. Aircon was not great. Wi-fi was dreadful
Motel run-down and very out-dated, could use a good tidy up and face lift.
Good budget accommodation and friendly staff
Very tidy convenient motel easy to find and assesable.. close to shops ..
I just found the unit was very clean and tidy. Everything i needed was in place, I never worked out the proper use of the TV but I watched free to air and went to sleep. I could have made an effort and used all streaming services available. Excellent property and value for money
Wayfairer Motel is value for money.
Quite a few of the tap washers need changing as the constant drip and water noise was quite evident in the quiet of the night. Loved waking up to birdsong from the golf course each morning.
Our check-in expert was woeful. We arrived at 2:15pm, at the start of check-in time, to find the reception door locked, no one in attendance and a no vacancy sign up. We were booked in so the no vacancy sign wasn’t concerning but we needed to book in as quickly as possible because we needed to be at a funeral and we were already late due to unforeseen road works. I rang to contact number from the website, because there was no number displayed at the reception door and received a ‘this mailbox is full’ response so I couldn’t even leave a message. Eventually my husband walked around the back of the building and found someone in the backyard and asked them to open up for us! They were apologetic, but we shouldn’t have had to go to that extent to be able to register.
Booked to stay somewhere with a pool and the pool was dirty and the area overgrown. My family was very disappointed.
The front desk closed at 6pm on Friday and I was given a code over the phone from a woman, without giving much the detail where it was to be used. Luckily, there was an after hour mobile number that I could call. The lady owner told me to use the code on the digital lock at my room after she told me so. I was charged twice on that day, but got a refund a week after. The owner was very helpful and friendly. The positive is that it is quite quiet inside room although it is situated alongside the highway. I couldn't hear heavy vehicles go past. It is also very convenient to find places to eat, e.g. KFC, "Maccas", Chinese (closed after 9pm). One big negative is that the room did smell a little, probably from someone with body odour. They should have used air freshener when cleaning up their rooms.
It is very old and outdated. Don’t see the staff. You are given a door code before you arrive. Needs a lot of work.
Cheap n cheerful
Looks and is very tired.. power points hanging out of wall bathroom needs complete redo shower front office should have told us what we would be getting as in condition and appearance of room .
Warm water in the shower for about 1 minute then only cold. Linen was thin. Room was clean and basic service eg kettle etc were in good condition. Cheaply priced if you just want to check in, sleep and check out. Would be pretty in spring.
No Hot water, $10 to do laundry, needs maintenance
Firstly, it was clean, but don't stay here unless you're prepared to have a cold shower in the morning. This place is very poorly maintained: the fake wooden shelf the fridge is on is all chipped. The frame of the photo above the bed is flaking and the curtains are hanging off the rods. The bed is lumpy and the towels are thin and old. Potholes on the tarmac and cobwebs in the main office. No blankets in the room though the woman was very helpful when I asked for one and gave me 2.
Disappointing
Sound stay in Muswellbrook
Wayfarer is a basic motel, but fine for an overnight stay in Muswellbrook. Room size was fine for myself, and comfortable stay. Fridge and microwave was handy
Old and in poor condition, area was untidy, curtains had moth holes all over them, towels were that old they were paper thin, chip board supporting fridge in poor condition, the entry into/out of Wayfarers is damn dangerous.
This place was revolting. The door wouldnt lock so we had to take our bags out everytime. There was no hot water and we stayed there for more than 2 weeks. There were cockroaches everywhere. Motel manager didnt seem to care at all and didnt solve any issues.
No hot water , toilet didnt work , no towels , no cleaner
Clean room, good location
The pool was closed I don’t know why
Have stayed many times before but motel has really gone downhill pool was green, no hot water in shower and the behaviour of guests (workmen) staying in motel was not great We were kept awake by them drinking and partying until 1:30am They were banging on our motel room door
The pics look 4 star, the room did not warrant 1 star cockeroaches were everywhere, on the bed in very old cupboard that had the cups etc,my wife thought they were in her hair during the night. So you can imagine how well we slept
I recommend reading the fine print which says to contact them for checkin details before arrival or you might find yourself unable to checkin. Reception was unattended when we arrived and the phone rang out. There was a note on the door saying they'd be back at 3.30 but it was closer to 4pm.
This property was nothing like the pictures in the advert. The pool was green, there were old breadcrumbs in the food area. The images showed the other side with nice timber doors and tidy garden area, overlooking the Golf course, but the side we stayed on needed a great deal of TLC and maintenance.
The shower walls had not been cleaned as brown scum on them, could scrape the scum off with my nail.. it was gross.. mould in the corners and in the grout of shower walls. . Only had one bathroom towel between two people as it was a booking for two adults. The Bar fridge did not work as their was no plug or power point, had to throw out cold items the following morning. The Queen Bed dipped into the middle, slept on the edge of far side and held onto mattress so I did not roll into my partner each time I moved. Only worth 2.5 Stars ⭐️
Bed saggy, fire alarm hanging from ceiling
Very happy with room but text messages very confusing and given wrong pincode. Except for confusion very happy overall, room cleanliness and condition great
Great Value for what you get. Will stay there again
The place was a Resort......Last resort....it was the only room available for 50KM due to a rail closedown. The room faced the New England HWY so was noisy with traffic. The complex apparently run out of gas so there was no hot water after working a 12hr shift in the rain. The mattresses are so cheap it felt like the springs were going to bite you....probably wont stay here again even as a last resort.
Peaceful relaxing stay thankyou to the management of wayfarer hotel it was a lovely experience simple and thoroughly enjoyable i will be back
There was no hot water in the vanity area.hard to remove false teeth in cold water
Very comfortable
The reception lady was pleasant and helpful. Besides that we didn't have a very good experience there. It's located on a main busy highway so there's noise from cars and trucks all night, theres no comfortable chairs to watch tv and there was a smell. The furniture is very old, and there was a drip in the shower and floors were dirty The price is not great value. Pictures show the newer buiding out the back facing the golf course. But it's more likely you will get the dodgy rooms facing the HWY. I recommend you stay at St elsewheres.
Manager was extremely rude when i asked to see a, hopefully, better room. The better room was a family room with unmade bunk beds, just as smelly as the first. He actually yelled at me when i asked where are the rooms that appear online and told me to take it up with my booking agent, not his problem.
Quiet spot, great place to sleep for one night. The toilet dripped all night, bathroom door didnt shut properly. Stains on the bedspread.
The locks didn't work. The outside was unkempt. The exterior wasn't lit. The room was small. The bathroom was very different, a series of cubicles.
Pool was closed. Motel is really tired both inside rooms and outdoors. Front door of unit was grubby with dirt. Really drab.
Muswellbrook stay
Very nice. Nice hospitality.
Was everything we needed. But Coffee cups are very small, remote for tv had flat batteries but overall very happy
BED WAS UP AGAINST A WALL THE LOCATION IS NOT GOOD OUT NO CARPET FLOOR WAS COLD
Stayed once, that’s enough
While I understand COVID has had a huge impact on hotel operators, and I try very hard in reviews to be fair, this hotel was very run down and I was disappointed the entire stay. I stayed 2 nights and there were so many things wrong. 1. A note was in the room saying due to COVID the rooms wouldn’t be serviced (not an issue, totally get it) and to fill in a form provided to get more towels milk etc which we did and we never got them. 2. We had to go and buy milk and tea bags to get us through 3. Buying milk was pointless because the bar fridge is broken and no matter what you set the temp at it just freezes everything inside 4. 2 towels between 2 women for 2 nights makes no sense 5. Hot weekend and the pool is only open Monday-Friday 6. Pillows were terrible. I had to go and buy one so I could sleep properly 7. Rooms were old no dark 8. Hotel area was very run down, cleaning up the landscaping would help with appeal 9. Showers not appealing and very hard to get the soap out of dispenser All in all I wouldn’t stay here again. I think some minor upgrades would go a long way
the hotel was clean and staff were helpful it was in the perfect location for our stay
Didn’t even answer the phone
Didn’t ring up befor 9 pm when I was traveling. So I missed out couldn’t get into my room when I arrived at 10pm
The aircon would not work and it was dirty. Room was not clean. There was roachers on the wall. So we did not stay.
Never staying here again. Couldn’t get the key system to my room to work, so the staff made me feel stupid in front of other guests. Very unprofessional. Room was claustrophobic. Very small and no room to move. On a plus, the bed was very comfortable.
Didn't realise that the motel was frequented by a large number of mine workers, who seemed to be enjoying their late night drunken arguments outside nearby rooms. Hard to get a full nights sleep.
It was great for what i needed smashed me ex in the room all night had a fantastic time
The bed linen wasn't matching and needed updating, the Doona cover was brought in 1980 approx and the mattress in 1970. definitely needs some tlc, the bathroom was clean and tidy so that was a plus. You get what you pay for
It was not what we expected. The aircon did not heat, there was no breakfast available. The whole property was run down. We only went because Musswellbrook was booked out.
Excellent staff outfitted inside surprisingly good standard
Friendly lady at reception. Comfortable room. Nice and quiet at night. Slept soundly and will stay there next time.
An easy and accommodating stay
Perfect stay for what I needed. Service helpful, room accommodating. Price was a on the lower side probably due to the location to the road and some occasional traffic. But it worked for me
looked better in the pictures, very small rooms and barbecue area wasnt too clean or inviting.room was comfortable and clean.
Excellent service and lovely staff, always happy to help nothing too uch trouble. Rooms great
Room was clean but very small and fittings and furnishings very dated. Fine for an overnight stay but wouldn’t want to stay longer.
Wayfarer is one of the first motels coming from the south in Musswellbrook. I have stayed there a couple of times on my way through to Tamworth or points further north and is conveniently located over the road from KFC and close to shops in a back street
unfortunately disappointing but goos checkin servi
service was brilliant at the front counter upon checking in.. However the room itself was terrible. The room smelt so strongly of bleach that we had a headache within 10 mins and once used, the shower leaked so badly that it was more like a running tap than a leaking one.
Nice cheap place to stay with comfy beds
Very close to the road, no double glazing, Trucks going pass all through the night, The room very old and dated.. Matress needs replacing,
I don’t like anything. The bessing was ol and dirty. Air conditioner was attached through window therefore you had to have it on as you couldn’t open the window and utilise fresh air. It was an upright portable AC and extremely noisy. Couldn’t even hear the tv over it. I felt like I needed to keep my shoes on the whole time because the carpet was or appeared dirty than my footwear. The packet biscuits were good. My fault, I keep selecting these motels off Wotif and the photos look good and the price is good but the photos are a misrepresentation. No more. I will drive around and just ask to inspect rooms first and remove the middle man.
Not a nice experience. We were upgraded to a family room and were not charged any extra for it however, the beds felt as though they had some sort of lice in them and the sheets were not fresh. The toilet leaked and noisily filled itself up throughout the night. Our front unit had big trucks thundering past all night. The walls in the room were dirty and the door to the bedroom and bathroom were broken. Towels were small and had bleached spots in them. The room did not look like the pictures online. The air cond was very old and yellowed and smelled like mould when it was on. At $125 per night we expected a lot better.
Good hotel
Good clean hotel with great staff. Exterior makes it look worse than it actually is.
Friendly staff, although rooms are out of date and in need of updating
