It's not bad
Somehow we got a Standard cottage which I think is a Hotels.com glitch but we were happy with it. Not many other people otherwise the cottages may have been a bit close together, also quite near the road (Pinotage cottage). Nice pool and spa and deck that looks out onto a dry field with zebra and springbok. Nice view onto the mountains. Well-situated.
Gone downhill and fast - not impressed.
No swimming towels made available, told to make use of our bath towels. Swimming pool was dirty with crickets and dead frogs in it. The bath towels are old and hard. The bedding is stained with old marks. Paint is peeling off walls in unit. No-one emptied dustbins over a 2 days stay even though we placed this outside. Wine glasses on the shelf cracked. Iron was rusted and marked out clothing. Remote control for gate not working. Did not need or want to hear Receptionist’s work history. Unprofessional.
family stay
The treehouse would be tricky for people with knee issues to get to, but we were undaunted by the stairs because the ambiance of staying in a treehouse was magical. The main pool is great and the private pool at the treehouse was an unexpected delight. Perhaps providing additional dustbins for recycling items could be an improvement, but the view, the rooms, the braai, and being surrounded y nature was thoroughly enjoyable!
Anniversary Weekend Spoils
Very beautiful and tranquil setting. We stayed in the 1 bedroom cottage for 2 nights forbour anniversary. We were welcomed with handmade chocolates, rose petals and a bottle of JC and although you pay for this service, it just feels so special to walk into the room and experience this treat. We had a Couples Re-Unite massage and a lovely romantic warm tub treatment with sparkling wine under a starry night ceiling, this is really special. Although the setting is about 5km out of town, it is an easy drive if you want to go eat at any of the rstaurants in town. We had supper in town the first night, but stayed in the Saturday after the spa and ordered from the restsurant on site. This was a romantic as we had our food on the deck under the real stars. Food was really delicious. Sunday morning breakfast was just as nice. Not once did we felt as if we are sharing any of the facilities, but the charlets and tree houses were all occupied for the weekend. It felt if the whole place were our own. What made it more special is the fact that you can take your dog with for the weekend, not only are they welcome on the farm, but in town there are actually restaurants where you can take your dog with. This was very special for us because we had a 13 week old yorkie and really wanted to bring him with. He enjoyed the farm dogs and cats and came back to the city a new dog. This was the best weekend I had in a long time.

Farm stay
We stayed in a self catering cottage. The accommodation had everything we needed, lovely bath and fireplace. It is very cold in Tulbagh in mid-winter, but the bed had cosy blankets. This is a working farm, which was fun to explore with my young son. He enjoyed playing with the farm dogs!
