Very Poor Experience

The hotel is different to other hotels with regards to its catering for large work conference type of meetings. This meant that the restaurants was full at both Lunch and dinner. They offered to allow me to eat food in the reception area....I tried to have room service, but there was a very high charge, with the food being very pricey already. Not many food options locally to the hotel, so I had to look further afield. I booked this hotel, over others in the area, due to the pool and spa area that looked very appealing. On check in i was told it was 25 Euros a day to use these areas though, very very disappointing. The gym was free, though, but its a very small area, with a handful of equipment that gets crowded very quickly. Next time I return, I will not look to stay here again.

really great option

This was probably 20th time to stay there---girls in reception are just so fantastic and friendly. not the main reason to stay in Valo, but just to mention. great price, easy parking, great beds and pillows and it is so quiet there!

Great wellness

The staff at reception were very helpful and friendly. The wellness center with a sauna and jacuzzi was superb. My room was not large but comfortable.

3 star hotel at best

From having rooms that have windowns right next to a windowed hallway (so that you cant have your curtains openned if you want any slither of privacy), charging extra for a bathrobe after you already payed for the spa area, to rusty shower parts with hadsoup for shampoo, its absurd that this place is 4 stars, the spa area is good, but not to the point of bringing this place up to 4 stars

The health club/spa is worth the money because of the proper Finnish saunas and the atmosphere. Nice breakfast with quality vegan options. Room is compact and well thought through. Very convenient with 15-20min drive from Helsinki-Vantaa airport.

VALO was very clean and tidy, but wouldn’t recommend it for someone on vacation. The Comfort sized room was VERY small, and the bathroom was laughable. Definitely too small for three adults plus luggage. The whole place has a super hipster vibe, but unfortunately that makes the check in process a little difficult. The kiosks they have for check in/out are not user friendly, but neither is the staff. They were a little rude. At first I thought, maybe that’s just the way Finnish people come across, but while exploring Helsinki I realized that no, that’s just how the staff at the VALO is. When my wife asked for information about a particular massage, the staff member at reception responded, “well I don’t know because I’ve never had one.” That shouldn’t matter, as the staff member should at least have a basic knowledge of what services are offered at their property. Also, it’s a bit of a trek to any of the touristy things. I will say, the breakfast is awesome. A little bit of something for everyone. And the yogurt bar is the best breakfast offering we’ve seen in a hotel breakfast. Overall, wasn’t the worst place we’ve stayed, but definitely not the best.

Nice breakfast, very nice feel to hotel. Only complaint would be the lack of control over room temperature which was too warm dur the day.

Perfect trip

The spa was amazing to use after a day of exploring the city. So easy to get a bus 15 mins into the centre. Food was good also and rooms small but clean.

Staff was amazingly helpful. Bathroom is a bit small.

Nice

Stayed in a VIP access room, but the room had a Murphy bed. It was very small, no view, and while I had access to the wellness area they didn’t have a robe or slippers for me in the room so I had to hunt them down. Gym had very limited equipment. Breakfast was good!

Friendly and diligent staff, great amenities.

The sauna is awesome but the pool & wellness center are a little extra. Lobby can get quite busy but nice overall.

Good Place to stay for holiday and work.

Valo is a really nice hotel. They had all the amenities I needed for a relaxing trip ( Bar, Gym, sauna, pool, work and lounge spaces). And the complimentary breakfast buffet at Elo was very nice. There are excellent bus and tram connections to the city and airport. As well as restaurants serving amazing food only 5 minutes by foot.

Beautiful hotel with an amazing breakfast. You should get the Helsinki card or a transit pass, as the hotel is somewhat far from the old town and harbors. Sauna area costs extra.

A great hotel with a plethora of facilities (the spa was a particular highlight). Staff were very helpful and kind. The hotel itself is about 20 minutes by transport from the centre. Very comfy beds. It's very modern so some of the technology such as card activated room doors did not always work for us. However the staff were a fantastic help and sorted the problem quickly.

Nice hotel with rooftop saunas, a cold pool, and other extras. The breakfast was good, just the service has dropped over the years - only black or white coffee is free now, “specialty coffee as cappucino or latte ir extra”, but everything it delicious. Just keep in mind if you book the bigger/more expensive rooms, not smart, they come with extra set of towels and bathrobes for the spa.

Nice wellness facilities. Easy commutation between the hotel and downtown (30mins incl. waiting time).

Very friendly and helpful staff. Gym very small without many equipment and amenities. Breakfast moderate. The hotel have its own parking beneath building but it chose to charge by day that means additional 25 € in your stay. I can consider project “ work “ as a failed one. I not even close to where the actual competition lying.

It was a nice short stay. Room is good size, bathroom is small but good bought. Overall a good stay!

Room was nice and clear, service was good. Bed was bit squeeky and toilet was too small. Otherwise our stay was excellent.

I found the self check-in quite convenient. The room was very small, which is good to know in case someone is claustrophobic. I thought that the price of the room included the rooftop sauna and hot tub but it did not. There was an added expense of $20 (euro) per guest for visiting the Wellness area. I booked through Expedia and the room description described including access. The ladies restroom in the Wellness area was very unclean but everywhere else that we visited including the room was clean.

Room was nice, great to have a big tv with chromecast. Breakfast was pretty good and the spa was awesome.

Ich hatte einen sehr schönen 4-Tages-Aufenthalt im Oktober 23 im Valo Hotel. Sehr Positiv: - Ich wurde von der Mitarbeiterin (Katri) am Check-In Schalter bestens beraten und konnte ihr einige Fragen zu Aktivitäten und Orten in der Stadt stellen, welche mir alle ausführlich und in gutem Englisch beantwortet wurden. Ich habe mich direkt Willkommen und gut aufgehoben gefühlt. Positiv: - Ich habe mein Gepäck vor dem Check-In schon im Hotel abgeben können, sodass ich die Zeit bis dahin verbringen konnte ohne alles mit mir mitschleppen zu müssen. - Sehr schöner Wellnessbereich mit Blick auf die Stadt. - modern eingerichtetes Zimmer mit sehr gutem Fernseher, gut durchdachter Lichtsteuerung, genügend Steckdosen und hochwertiger Matratze. Negativ: - Bei Ankunft im Zimmer habe ich im Bad und im Zimmer vereinzelt Haare auf dem Boden vorgefunden, habe mich an die Reinigungsfachkraft gewandt und sie hat sich dann anschließend direkt darum gekümmert. - Der Frühstücksbereich ist deutlich zu klein und man muss Glück haben direkt einen freien Sitzplatz zu finden. Fazit: Alles in allem ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt in einem für mich guten bis sehr guten Hotel. Würde 4,5/5 Sternen geben.

Nice bright hotel with plenty of facilities, communisl spaces etc. We stayed in a smart double room, the room was clean and comfortable if a litte small for 2 people...you cant walk around the bed so one person has to clamber accross the bed, we also had to afk for a second pillow a few times. The ensuite shower room was good. Overall the room was just what we needed for a few night's, i think if we had stayed longer a bigger room would have been needed. Breakfast was nice, the hotel was easily accessible from the centre of town. I would stay in this hotel again if we are ever back in helsiki.

You have to pay to use the spa area.

I was woken up by a knock on my door at 9am by the cleaners. As I was trying to put some clothes on, The door suddenly opened.. I only speak english and french but I was unable to communicate with the person.This was a strange morning and I am not sure how the cleaner didn't know the room was occupied. I hope this doesn’t happen ever again to anyone. When i pay to stay somewhere, there is a minimum expectation of privacy. Especially in the morning!

Hotel is nice and service is pleasant, but rooms need more thorough cleaning. When we arrived in the room, there were handprints on the surfaces and the windowsill was dusty. In first night air conditioner broke in the room, the window could not be opened, it was very stuffy and difficult to sleep, but when we later reported the problem, we were moved to another room, no problems, next nights were more pleasant. Overall the hotel is good and breakfast is included which is great.

Valo = Light

Our Valo stay was great. The room was clean and more room putting up the small extra "Murphy" bed. All the staff members were great and helpful with all assistance we needed. The breakfast buffet was nice but we would have liked more fruit selections as watermelon was only offered most days on our week stay. We look forward to our next Helsinki visit and will stay at Valo.

Does what it says on the box- modern, efficient, reasonably priced. Good buffet breakfast. Good evening menu if you need to eat in. Bus directly into town in about 20 min. All good, and I would stay again.

Clean, nice bed and room. Pool, but you pay E20, and a robe and slippers is E15. The spa was too busy in the evening, no space in hot tub and sauna smelt bad with so many bodies.

The room was in pristine condition, but way too small to walk around, the shower was way too small as well.

I spend very comfortably time in Valo.

Lovely spa, and rooftop bar, great room

Bali was perfect for what we needed. We had a 16 hour layover at the end of our trip. We didn’t have the time or energy to explore all of the wonderful things Helsinki has to offer, so we took full advantage of the conveniences this hotel has to offer. We had a leisurely breakfast and relaxed in the spa. We were even able to extend our check out time for 10€ per hour to the already late checkout time of 1pm. The convenience and wellness offered for an affordable price prepared us for our long journey home.

Great stay, in a lovely modern hotel. By its very nature it is not the most luxurious hotel (e.g. small bathrooms and rooms) but it is great for what it is.

Great stay, modern and cool vibes

Great stay, loved the hotel. The local tram was not working as construction work is happening but the local buses are constantly going past, so it was very easy to get into the city centre! Hotel was very clean and modern. Very nice area to sit and chill in the evenings by the reception. Not much choice for the breakfast but it was included so can’t complain! Our room was quite small so once we put our luggage and clothes etc, it was quite cramped. Small bathroom too but it worked for me and my girlfriend. Could link up our phones to the tv which was handy! When we first arrived at our hotel room, there was a hotel staff member and the person sleeping next door, already in our room…which was a bit odd but they said they were checking out our tv as next doors wasn’t working..didn’t really like this. Overall great stay, very happy.

we booked the double comfort room but it was too small so upgrade for extra. Breakfast and roof terrace were absolutely amazing and worth the trip alone. Not much around the area of Hotel. Staff and cleanliness excellent!! Limited Dinner Menu

Front desk is not helpful, get different responses depending on who tmu talk to. Tried to over charge us. check out took forever. Tiny tiny room which was too hot. Was ok, wpuld not stay again

Very nice pretty hotel. But tiny rooms. I’m talking about a room a size of a bed and a chair. Amazing breakfasts! Weird check-in, couldn’t figure it out. No one explained that you need your key-card to use elevator EVERY TIME

We are a tall couple.We found our room too small.We also had 4 suitcases.Therefore the moving around was very difficult.Going into the bed was a struggle;needed to climb over another person.No food services available on Sunday.Breakfast was always the same (stayed for 3 breakfasts)I ate a mushroom risotto and created a food poisoning during the night.No one got back to me even I shared my experience.

Good but the room was small

The property is clean & the staff are friendly. Good choices for breakfast & relatively close to the airport. Great for short stays. The rooms were small, but well-maintained. The a/c didn't seem to be working in the room, but we left early morning, so was not able to inform staff.

Pretty staff,good service but no a/c

Loved the staff. Love Scandanavian. The central a/c never worked and we will never really given a solid explanation. They were kind enough to loan out fans.

Im not happy about it

Was ok but so expensive when they ask for more extra payment for sauna and swiming pool. And they dont say that when i was making the booking .. i didn't like that.

The staff is great, we needed to have breakfast at 4:30 am and they had no problem, plus is was free. Great stay at a very reasonable price. Thanks

Money well spent

I just like this place! This time the girl in reception was just supernice - melting smile, funny and friendly attitude. This is quite new place, so obviously everything is fresh and clean. Very quiet at night, great design in rooms and remote location ...means also free parking nearby. Breakfast was above average. money well spent!

Huone ok mut tilaa ei ollut. Kun piti sängyn pääty ahdas tila sieltä liikkua, sauna ok mut ei kunno löyly.. ympäristö hyvässä pakassa ja helppo tulla

Valo hotelli on moderni, siisti ja hinta-laatusuhteeltaan erinomainen majoitus liike- ja työmatkoille. Erityisesti pidän siitä, että sisäänkirjautumisen voi hoitaa verkossa etukäteen, jolloin sillä ei ole niin väliä, milloin ehdit paikan päälle.

Yö Hotel Valossa

Hotelli oli kaunis ja viihtyisä. Asiakaspalvelijat olivat mahtavia, auttavaisia, ratkaisuja etsiviä ja hymyileviä! Ainoat isommt haittapuolet olivat pölyn määrä huoneessa (ihoreaktio) sekä tylsät ruokailuvälineet, veitsi ei leikannut esim. kurkkua tai haarukalla ei saanut kurkkua kiinni. Spa oli mukava, vaikka altaat ja saunat olivat hyvin ruuhkaisia. Huonelaskun käyttömahdollisuus oli poistettu, mikä on todella surku, etenkin kun kylpylään ei halua kantaa maksukorttia. Olisiko tähän jokin muu ratkaisu? Jok tapauksessa ihana kokemus ja maisemat kattopoolilta ovat kokemisen arvoisia!

Valo ei pettänyt taaskaan

Hotelli on poikamme (11v) suosikki ja tämä taisi olla neljäs vkloppu loma valossa jo. Homma toimii, hotelli on siisti, wellness osasto mainio ja ravintola todella hyvä.

Dejligt ophold nytåret over. Gode relax-områder. Super wellness-område med gode finske saunaer og bade.

Aamupala hyvä mutta ahdasta. Kylpylä osasto kiva. Ulkosaunat hienot ja kuumat. Pysäköinti muualla kuin hallissa haastavaa.

Valoisa ja kiva hotelli. Ravintola oli tunnelmallinen.

Uusi hotelli jossa mielenkiintoinen Wellness spa- osasto jossa valitettavasti ei kuitenkaan asiakas ja kioskipalvelut pelitä kuten toivoisi. Itse aamiainen ja hotellin ravintola onneksi erinomaista tasoa.

Pienet virheet valitettavasti pilaavat kokemuksen

Huoneen pienen kylpyhuoneen pienen pieni käsienpesuallas ei sallinut käsipesua, koska viemäri oli tukossa. Suihkun silikoneissa homepilkkuja. Muovinen sängyn patjasuoja natisi ikävästi ja hiosti. Hirsisaunojen välitila/suihkutila haisi pistävästi homeelle, rakenteessa on ilmeisesti hometta.

Meget fint og praktisk arbeidshotell. Masse muligheter for rleienav kontor og møterom, også på times basis. Men standard rom er ganske lite, men om du bare skal sove så greit ;)
