Overall it was a great experience, best Glamping one could ask for!!
I booked this stay as part of a larger trip including Canada for my husband's 40th birthday. When we first arrived, we were greeted and instructed on the use of our wood burning stove and shower. We were then escorted up to the parking area and rode a golf cart to our tent with our luggage. The tent we stayed in was the deluxe which included a toilet, shower, and sink. This was definitely worth the extra money. The shower is as you would expect a pull chain, on a timer type shower. The water did get very warm, but would get cold requiring you to pull the chain again. The bed was very comfortable and the room had plenty of seating both inside and out with areas to hang your stuff. Charging stations were offered for your phones as well as battery powered lanterns that provided ample light. It did get chilly overnight (in the 50's) but there were plenty of blankets on the bed and with the wood burning stove, we stayed pretty comfortable. In fact, I got hot eventually under all the blankets. I read other reviews and people complained about traffic noise and the train. Yes, you're right off Hwy 2 and there is traffic, but not as much towards the evening and I didn't wake up at night to the sounds of traffic. There are trains that go through the area fairly regularly (including overnight) and they are required to blow their horn, but if you hike hard enough, you'll pass out at the end of the day anyways ha! Anyone who had bad reviews obviously doesn't understand camping.
This was our 2nd Under Canvas location and loved it as much as the first time!
Staff were the best I have ever experienced!
After researching for a unique and peaceful gateway I came across Under Cavas Glacier online. Upon arriving however, after the sun had gone down, there was an immediate understanding that the stay would be far from peaceful. There were so many people in vehicles that it was hard to find parking just to simply check in. Not to mention loud sounds coming from all the conversations happening around the premises. The tent “upgraded to deluxe” due to private bathroom offered was clean, simple, and the bed and shower were both very inviting to use. However, using the shower and trying to fall asleep proved that you cannot judge a book by its cover. Although initially impressed by the mere fact that a tent could produce a hot water shower, unfortunately it was set near boiling temperatures, rendering it almost unusable. As bedtime arrived the parties outside continued and the highway traffic and train both noise from the tracks and whistle were laughably loud and obnoxious- location, location, location. It being a canvas tent there is zero noice insulation to the outside world. If only we could have heard a little bit of wilderness. The fireplace was a joke and with random smoke alarms going off throughout the entire evening proved we weren’t the only tenants having issues. I appreciate the effort from under canvas glacier for what it’s worth but the pricing is so far north from properly representing the realities of staying there.
Stayed here the first night of our honeymoon. My mom called and told the staff. They were wonderful! They upgraded the cabin and there were signs that said “Congrats Newlyweds.” It was a wonderful surprise. Would definitely stay again!
Great bedding, fun experience
The train come by ever hour over night is not the best for sleeping. 4 or 5 trains over night.
Great experience for someone who loves the outdoors but wants to relax.
The staff does a FANTASTIC job of making a great experience for guests, but unfortunately their efforts can be overshadowed by the property’s location. Road noise and train whistles are simply a given, and no amount of fantastic service can counteract the impact they have.
Accommodations were great!! Lots to do - games, fires, live music, food and drink onsite.
This property checks alot of our boxes. The tent was spacious and had a private bathroom. The Lobby tent had many complimentary items such as coffee, tea , apple cider and there grab and go was helpful. i enjoyed their cafe as it was very convenient with a nice selection of food , beer and wine. Lastly tbeir evening activities was a nice touch. My only real observation is the stoves only can keep about 2hr of wood so you will need to choose sleep in cold or wakeup thru the night and add more firewood. Other than that awesome trip. I would come back.
Was absolutely lovely
Love this experience. My only complaint is it is too close to the highway. I will not return because of this reason.
Glamping Vacation
Great experience. Camping with the luxuries of home- perfect for a family with a mix of both outdoorsy and city types. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Beautiful property, great stay other than noise from road and barking dogs
Everything is great except for the train passing by few times at night
Everything about the property was great. My only issues were the food at the café was a little over priced for so so taste of food. And the noise around the camp with the road and the Train at night was a lot plus the golf carts driving around at night, it all added to the noise. Not much you can do about the road and train. I would still come back for another trip to under the canvas.
Nice stay
Great place to stay. Beds very comfortable. The suites are nice with a private bathroom. We enjoyed nightly s’mores.
It was a wonderful stay, definitely will be back! Staff were so nice n kept everything clean. Thank you :)
My son and I had a ton of fun with the complimentary activities/games, and enjoyed the bon fire. The staff was all very welcoming. The bed was very comfy too! We will definitely recommend.
It’s a wonderful camping/glamping experience. The shared washrooms and showers are keep extremely clean. There were always towels available and never waiting for a washroom/shower. The food was delicious and the staff were extremely attentive and helpful. I highly recommend Under Canvas to anyone who is visiting the West Glacier area.
Extremely noisy. The location is right next to the train tracks. Trains were going by all night. Other gears were up late and noisy. I would not recommend this place at all
Staying here was such an amazing experience!!! Shout out to Reid for being great, so sweet and helped us with checking in! Can’t wait to stay here again!!
Living the life
Service was amazing. Each night there was live music, smores and kids activities. Beautiful views. Th only thing that wasn’t amazing was being so close to the main highway 2 to hear constant road noise as well as a train all night long. Great cafe for food purchases but a bit pricey. Definitely enjoyed my time there.
The front desk attendant at night named Trevor was great! He has the best customer service you could ask for when traveling. The only downside was the loud trains passing by at night, and the showers were not cleaned daily like they should be. Showers were dirty.
This was a super convenient location for exploring West Glacier. And, the glamping experience was super fun. We really enjoyed the dining options from the small onsite cafe, and chatting with fellow travelers at the firepits in the evening. The games to borrow were also a huge plus. Beds were super comfy and tents were well-furnished. We were aware of the potential train noise before we booked, so this was not a bother. Ear plugs are provided and do a fine job of keeping the noise out. What I didn't realize is how close the property is to the highway. It's not quite as relaxing as I hoped to sit out at your tent or the common areas in the evenings. That being said, you can't beat the location. I also wished I had requested a tent you could drive up to. I wasn't aware I would have to park in another area and be shuttled up to my tent, which just made some logistics a little trickier.
First time “glamping” and it was a very nice experience. Staff was very accommodating and welcoming. The tents and facilities were great. It is probably a 15-20 min drive to glacier national park. The site is right off a major highway and near an active railroad track so the noise level was an issue.
We had so much fun during our stay! The property and tent were exactly as advertised. Very clean and all the staff was friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our time there.
Would definitely stay again! Loved it!
A great way to experience glamping at Glacier!
amazing place that we can highly recommend. Only one bad thing and that was the trains was running by during the night 3 to 4 times with the horns blasting, and this meant waking up each time. Besides this it was a 5 star experience.
Thank you for a great stay. Staff was wonderful and helpful.
We had a great experience while here. Easy park access and the restaurant on site is quite good. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
Great elevated camping experience! Would definitely spend the money to stay at another Inder the Canvas property.
A truly exceptional experience! this was my first time staying at a Under the Canvas property and I'm SO SO excited to come back and/or check out their other properties. I've done a lot of traveling and stayed at A LOT of hotels and have never had such a wonderful experience. First, the staff are incredible - they go out of their way to make your experience enjoyable and comfortable and have thought about everything. Next, the accommodations themselves were very high quality and breathtaking. Our tent had a private bathroom which was very cozy and very luxurious in my opinion. I checked out the communal showers and bathrooms expecting a lower quality but they really are as clean and well maintained as they appear in the photos - I would have not had any issues using them. I never knew I could have such a great experience. This will be the bar against which I will set all other hotels and future vacation stays. Can't say enough positive things. If you're thinking about staying here, just do it. You won't regret it.
Glamping at Glacier
Have stayed with Under Canvas twice now and it doesn't disappoint! Beautiful location close to the Glacier Park West Entrance. Food options were good and the activities for the children were great. Love that they are dog friendly too!
Unique Stay
Friendly service from the start. Comfortable beds, plenty of space. Clean shower area. Plenty of activities from friendship bracelets classes to line dancing. Highly recommend this experience.
It was very nice and clean and the staff was great. The traffic noise was awful.
Under Canvas Adventure
This place was AMAZING! The staff was wonderful, the tents were perfect, & everything you needed was available onsite. I would definitely recommend Under Canvas for your next adventure!
Loved this adventure!
Amazing! People are so nice!! We left a ring in the room and they emailed us to ship to us! Not many places would bother. Bathrooms were extremely clean and wonderful. A great experience !!
I loved my stay
They thought of everything for this glamping experience, absolutely everything was perfect
Nice place
Absolutely an incredible experience! Staff were amazing. The restaurant food was okay.
Great experience. Need a facility (that’s warm and covered) where people can eat when it’s cold and rainy since no food is allowed in the tent. Parking was a pain. Would have preferred to be able to park at our tent.
Under Canvas Glacier is very well run and well kept, and the staff there are exceptionally kind and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.
Heaven on Earth! And only 15 minutes from West Glacier entry.
We like UnderCanvas having tried in Moab last year - in Glacier is so close to road and railroad the noise all night made it impossible to sleep - needs to be relocated farther from highway and RR
Very unique experience. We stayed in a bigger tent with The bathroom and shower which made a nice difference. We did get cold one night but that was because of our poor fire building skills. What stood out so much here was the customer service. Every single person there helped us any way they could. Volunteered to do things, brought us needed things even when it was late, helped with luggage. I mean they went above and beyond what you would expect and never seemed annoyed. Always smiling and happen. One lady especially, her name was Deborah, did so much for us. Even came to help with the fire.
The staff are great. The property maintained well but they need to resolve a few items to consider this Clamping. There is a level 2 fire ban which means you have no heat as the stoves can not be lit. Sorry 40 and 50 degrees is tough for $500 a night. The water is not mixed meaning only hot in the room and a walk of 10 mins to fill your thermas. they will pick you up in Cute golf cart and Chuck is mice. Too cold if not heat backup so we will unfortunately not return.
We love everything about it and Chuck is the best.
Cancelation policy is unrealistic
Unique lodging but too cold!
We were looking forward to a “glamping” experience. The staff was friendly and the tents were clean and spacious. The bedding was very comfortable. Unfortunately the tents had no heating and it was very cold -40 degrees. Even though the tents are equipped with wood burning stoves, we were under a fire restriction and could mot use them. There were no other heating alternatives provided e.g. propane heaters. This made bathing and getting packed up very uncomfortable. We left several hours early to escape the cold. We paid almost $500 night and expected better.
Just Okay Experience
This place is extremely expensive for the quality and service you would expect. The accommodations are very interesting but you have to be prepared that you will not have your room cleaned or towels replaced unless you make a request which is all done via text with slow response times. We did not get to park by our tent which left a long walk on the dark at times. Some tents have parking next to them so highly recommend making that request in advance. The food at the cafe is ridiculously expensive for what you get.
This property had no view. We stayed in Zion location, and hands down much more of an experience. I would not recommend this location to anyone. Soooo dusty, no view. Run well, but not a memorable experience.
Trains!!
Trains pass by the camp site every night multiple times a night. Would not stay here again.
It’s the camping experience with luxury amenities. Like a shower and toilet! The staff is really prompt and helpful
Really enjoyed my stay, enjoyed the adventure. The pull out bed was a little lacking.unfortunately the price for the room would keep me from returning
Under canvas, in the noise
The place looks fun and the service staff is absolutely fantastic. The problem is the location. Right away, you notice that it is close to the highway. More surprisingly, there is a nearby train track with very loud trains all through the night. Worse, they run their horns constantly.
Amazing stay!!
I liked the staff and the vibe food in the cafe onsite was good dislike’s very close to Highway very Dusty no Bathroom in Tent which I think for this price should be a definite Tents are very cold in the morning I know that is no one’s fault but it annoyed me who likes it warm Live music was nice in the evening
Love Under Canvas
We love Under Canvas and had an amazing three nights at the Glacier site. The staff are friendly. The cafe had good food and grills available for when we wanted to cook out. The family enjoyed board games and corn hole. The location is minutes from the West Glacier entrance. You can hear trains at night. It really wasn't an issue for me or my wife, but did wake up my daughter.
I rarely leave a review for accommodations much less a negative review but I feel like people need to know what they are getting into. I was really looking forward to staying at Under Canvas but after seeing what we were getting for how much we were paying…it was a terrible disappointment. I understood we would be “glamping” and I wasn’t looking for modern amenities but there was a lot of information that is not detailed in their listings. We didn’t realize that we would have to park away from our tent and have to walk a pretty good distance to our tent. The shower wasn’t working properly and although we paid extra for a private bath we had to walk to the bathhouse to be able to take a hot shower…we should’ve mentioned it earlier in our stay and once we mentioned it to the front desk it was fixed that same day…although when we got back to our tent the “front door” was left completely open to anyone or anything to enter our tent. The wood stoves that they have aren’t up to par for the amount of money you pay…the wood wouldn’t stay lit and my husband was up all through the night trying to keep the tent warm (which NEVER happened) and the temps each night were down in the mid 30s! The road noise and trains all through the night were very disruptive to any sleep we could get. They provide 2 battery packs that operate “lanterns” and very small fans. We ended up leaving Under Canvas a day early and going to stay somewhere else just so we could get one decent night of sleep!
Top service and comfort
This was my 3rd stay at am Under Canvas. I love the facilities, cleanliness and comfort. On-site food options were stellar. One thing to be aware of with this location is the proximity to the railroad and highway leads to more noise than a deep woods experience. Shout out to Angelika for extra service when we asked to have a quiet might friendship bracelet making and sipping hot coco and hot cider!
The property is great. They warn you about the trains and the train noise is real, but it's not horrible. Book with the assurance that you will hear trains at night. Having said that, the tents are awesome, the lobby and staff are fantastic, the common area had great fire pits and activities and provided a great opportunity to meet people as well. They supply you with what you need and it really has the amenities of what you'd get at a hotel. Its only 7 miles from the entry to Glacier National Park as well.
Staff were amazing. The property didn’t have a lot to offer in terms of dinner. Meals where meh. The tent we were given was next to the road and the road noise was terrible. Would not stay here again.
Phenomenal place to stay. Can't recommend highly enough.
Room was clean and common area for bbq and fire pits were nice. But between the voices in two neighboring tents till midnight, the buzz of the highway nearby, and the 6 freight trains that passed in the night (including horns at various crossings) made for little sleep
Noisy nights by trains, planes and automobiles.
A not so worth nightly price to pay to stay in a dirty, smelly worn down yurt. Zero WIFI, cold mornings and noisy nights by trains, planes and automobiles.
Loved it! Second time glamping with Under Canvas
We were doing Glacier NP for 4 days. Could only book Under Canvas (UC) for 2 days due to availability issues we had because we planned the trip last minute. Loved all about our glamping experience. We've been with UC near Grand Canyon and loved it too. Then we had a private bath and this time we could only get community baths. We did worry about that. However, the community baths were super clean and not crowded at all. We had ours right across the tent. I walked alone at night and felt not scared at all. Very safe! Very friendly staff. They were amazing. Yes, we could hear the train at night. But we were exhausted and the noise from train meant nothing. It's so close to Glacier NP and that itself is a treat on top of the comfy beds and the smores and more. We plan to cover all the UC around NPs. See you again soon! <3
Fun and unique property- would recommend!
What a beautiful property. The staff are welcoming, professional and really knowledgeable about the local options. Wow!

We really enjoyed our stay at Under Canvas. The staff and service were exceptional. We loved our large tent with ensuite bathroom. Everything for our wood burning stove was all ready to go, and we were thankful because it was very chilly and damp outside. Inside we were very comfortable, and loved the ambience the small fire afforded. The breakfast items we ordered were all delicious. A special note of thanks to Marijke. She went above and beyond for our group and made this a very special experience and memory for our group of six.
