Tranquility
Our accommodation was in a stone cottage in a tiny hamlet. It was serene and peaceful, the only thing we could hear was bird song. The charming Ama let us in and did not bother us again, there was phone numbers should we need anything. There are scenic forest walks with wonderful views. We would highly recommend staying here for a few relaxing days.
Rural charm in a historic stone building
This lodging (Casa Custodio) is pleasant, clean, and well-tended, and very charming. Location is very rural, at the end of winding, narrow and steep roads, and located in an old abandoned village of stone buildings that was rebuilt by the government for rural tourism and historic preservation, and now is run as lodgings for rent. It has a kitchen with well-equipped utensils and appliances, which was stocked with breakfast food and coffee for our first breakfast. You can drive to the nearby town of Cambra for food, cafes, etc. Well-marked and interesting hiking trails are abundant nearby, starting from the stone village itself. If you want very rural, bordering on wilderness hills, this is it.
Best place to relax
Had such a wonderful stay at Traços D'Outrora. Isabell made us feel so welcome! All the little details of the place is so well taken care of. There was a wood stove which was amazing in keeping us cozy and warm during those cold rainy days. The fridge was well stocked and Isabell even left us a bottle of beautiful local wine to try! The location is perfect for exploring the hills nearby. It's close to local grocery stores and easy day trip to Aveiro.
A Historic Cottage in the Hills of Portugal
We wanted to experience the country in Portugal and this was perfect being a historical 2 level stone cottage. We spent 3 nights and enjoyed it tremendously. Very clean with a wood stove where we built a fire for heat. But also a modern stove/fridge/television with cable and wifi available and a comfy bed. A short walk up the hill there was an overview with a good view of the surrounding hills - and was only about an hour outside of Porto so we were able to take some day trips. And where it was a wee bit tricky to find (you'll need a car to get to it), Joao the son of the owner was super helpful in getting us GPS coordinates to make sure we found it ok - even met us at the location to give us keys and make sure all was good. He also texted us to make sure all was fine after we had settled in. If you're looking for a hotel with all the fancy stuff - this is not for you. But if you're adventurous and want to see the country and hills - we would definitely go back.
Excelente lugar
Hermoso lugar. Tranquilo lindas vistas. Muy cómoda la cabaña y bien aquecido. Volvería sin duda
bien
muy bien todo
Paz y tranquilidad
Tranquilidad pura y dura.

This is a nice calm place to escape to reconnect with nature and a slower pace of living. There are lots of nature trails to hike. Aveiro and Porto are an hour away, but you have some very unique tourism opportunities about 10 minutes away in S. João da Madeira with their industry tourism and hat and shoe museum!
