Sloop inn is absolutely beautiful, with picturesque surroundings, the owners and staff are so lovely , they really look after you , the room was clean and warm and encludes everything u need for your stay , lovely comfortable bed , best nights sleep weve had in a long time nearly oversleept fir breakfast, breakfast was delicious they cater for your all your needs , we will be staying again , highly recommend
I was the only guest staying that night, the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The room was very clean and the breakfast was great. It’s a great location for hikers.
The cleanliness was terrible in our room ,from dust everywhere to cobwebs in every corner ,there was dead flies on the window sills ,must of been an infestation of flies in the bathroom as they were all ovsr the bath
Very comfortable 1 night stay
Comfortable and staff were excellent. Great base to explore the Wye valley area as a solo guest and as a couple, family, friends.
No hot water on first Day
Host was very nice. Even went out of his way to make me a drink that he'd never heard of. If you're looking for a modern, renovated place, this isn't for you. But, everything was clean and worked fine.
Positives - hosts were very friendly welcoming and pleasant. Negatives - room and bathroom were dirty, incredibly noisy floorboards and bed, couldn't walk around without waking everyone else. Could hear next door use the toilet. Food was hearty but no cooked from fresh ingredients. Nothing to do in the area. It's a shame as they are lovely people.
The staff were very helpful. The food was excellent. Especially the Lamb Shank. The bed was comfy and the room was clean. I booked this Inn as it was close to lots of beautiful walks. I have no complaints. And would stay here again.
Bank holiday stay
Food was very good, the female staff were excellent. The room was good, the bathroom was not so good and the shower was poor and needed attention. We stayed two nights and found the bar friendly and some locals were in and some conversations had swear words. Pub is in a lovely quiet area handy for exploring.
Ok for my one night stay, staff friendly, good selection of food on offer.
Excellent service and the food was great
Loved this place. It was very welcoming and friendly. Room was comfortable and we had all we needed for our short stay. Breakfast was excellent and we also had evening meals which we great too.
Great for a stop off on long journey.
Great little B&B.
Staff were very friendly throughout our stay, even telling us about road closures. Breakfasts and meal were all freshly prepared and very tasty. Comfortable beds and pillows. Only issue was patchy data coverage.
Lovely place, lovely food, lovely staff
We are two brits who moved abroad and were back in the area for the weekend. Our whole stay was ecactly what we miss about the Uk: Good food, lovely service, amazing location and big comfortable rooms. The service was top notch, loved our room and balcony and the whole room was comfortable and big. We loved sitting on tje balcony with our morning coffee. Little touches like coffee and tea in the room, hand gel in the room and toiletries, plus the history of the pub on the menu. Just top notch all around.
BEAUTIFUL AREA TO EXPLORE ON FOOT OR BIKE
Beautiful location. Friendly staff. Good car parking. Mattress, although comfortable had probably seen better days. Hot water, scaldingly hot so parents beware if you have young kids. Very difficult to get a nice temperature for the shower (too hot or too cold). Lovely area to explore if you enjoy walking and/or mountain biking.
The most beautiful surroundings I have seen in my entire life and the beer was excellent too.
It was cheap, and a place to hold up whilst we explored further out during a brief biking holiday. Shower was pretty much non existent.....more of a dribble, and the beds were terrible. I think i will have imprints of bed springs on my back for the next few weeks.
Great service, owners and locals all lovely and very welcoming! Just a very nice place too stay !
Staff were very friendly and the food available in the pub was lovely. Only issue is transport to and from Chepstow as buses start a bit later and finish early.
We stayed at the Sloop for a night whilst walking the Wye Valley Way. Our room was spotless and comfortable, and the en-suite bathroom with bath was lovely and spacious. We ate dinner and breakfast in the pub and the food was also excellent, pub food and with a specials board, and freshly cooked to order. The pub is not modern but I can honestly say that our stay had all the facilities that we needed.
The beds were old and creeky and the rooms needs a update. The place just needs some investment in it. Shower was very weak as well. Room was a good size.
Excellent experience. The hotel is gorgeous and the four poster bed room is just delightful. Great food at the pub. Lovely gardens. A real treat
Popular Tourist area
This Inn was very well situated. We were close to many popular tourist sites including the Forest of Dean. Very pretty area.
Staff, food all excellent
We enjoyed our stay and were well looked after, with a nice breakfast. I think it’s time for new mattresses.
A hidden gem!
A lovely, quiet hotel in a beautiful location. The staff were all lovely and made us feel welcome. We stayed in the room with a balcony, and the view was wonderful. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Would definitely return! Thankyou.
The staff were excellent. The room was very good and the dinner and breakfast were extremely good. We heartily recommend this as a place to stay
Nice inn in a little dream village overlooking the valley Very peaceful
Comfy bed and nice and peaceful. very happy with my stay but deducted one star for crap shower in Room 4 and dreadful music but I don't want to moan because it's a tough game. Thanks guys.
The staff were very warm and helpful, a pretty good menu & good breakfast.
Most enjoyable stay as always Starr and food just great Barrie and Rachael Grant
Great spot but needs update.
The hotel is very ready for refurb/update but is very clean. The most disappointing thing was the evening food. Very dull old fashioned menu. Poor quality flavourless cooking. By contrast the traditional breakfast was very good.
Weekend treat
When we arrived staff were friendly . We were asked to input our registration number of the car we were shown to where our room was . The room was old fashioned with nice wooden beams breakfast was lovely attentive the views from the pub our outstanding looking over the river . Definitely will go back
Friendly staff and great food. Rooms are a little dated but it’s cheap so it’s not going to be perfect. For the money… 5 out of 5
Location was very good and very quiet overnight. Close to Wye river for walks. Room and shower were tight even for one. Bed was comfortable. Food was very good, breakfast room had pleasant outlook and staff welcoming. Some cobwebs in evidence and stair case was narrow and steep for carrying luggage.
Great staff, food, beer, room 1 is fab, beautiful views, a very relaxing weekend
Passing through
Great welcome, Arrived 20.45 and although kitchen was closing we were still offered food. Nice room although very creaky floors and stairs. Staff were great an very friendly.
The Sloop is the kind of place that makes you feel part of the local community. You go a little back in time and the surroundings are beautiful! Great location too if you trek. Its the opposite of the hospital like bedrooms you find in modern hotels. We love it. Stayed there 3 times and will go again. Lovely staff too.
Great little local pub!
helpful staff - lovely food - good value all round.
Wonderful !!!
Great place to stay,beautiful views,friendly
Had a great stay at the Sloop Inn , the staff are really friendly the location is really pretty, I’m gluten & lactose free and I was able to eat without worrying as the staff were very knowledgeable about allergies etc , given advanced notice they are able to provide for you .
Lovely old inn
The Sloop is a lovely old inn and great value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room had a four-poster bed with fabulous views and Llandogo is a perfect location for exploring the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Would highly recommend.
No pomp just comfy
It was only one night we had an event too attend in the evening the time we spent here was really comfortable clean and the staff were so friendly The hotel itself was traditional and was typical of the area it suited me down to the ground 10/10
Great little place with excellent food
The Sloop Inn is small but well formed. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food in the restaurant is excellent, both for dinner and breakfast. I look forward to visiting again.
Fabulous staff, food and accommodation. In a very good location for touring the Brecon Beacons.
Accommodation a little dated, but the staff were fabulous and the food super. Also great location. So very good value for money.
Really helpful staff - did an early breakfast so we could catch the bus at 8 o’clock. Only slight gripe was that the shower in our room wasn’t working.
