Friendly staffs - lobby
We are foreigners. We ask staff if they could help us to order Meituan. Staff rejected our request. Is like we are not going to pay them.
Everything was great
Great Service!!!!
The Edition has an unbeatable location and fantastic service during check in. The room thermostat didn't seem to work super well, but otherwise the room quality, cleaning, and facilities were all top tier!
Outstanding service
We stayed at this hotel for our anniversary, and the service was outstanding . The staff went out of their way to make our celebration and stay special , with thoughtful touches that made the experience unforgettable. Everything was perfect, we felt truly cared for . The hotel and the staff exceeded our expectations.
Absolutely perfect location in Shanghai.
GREATEST ATTENTION TO CLIENT EVER! THE STAFF IS JUST PERFECT.
Lovely location, great staff, amazing bar on the 29th floor. I'm definitely coming back!!!
Mixed experience
I had a mix of experiences during my recent three-night stay at the Shanghai Edition. On the positive side, the staff were consistently courteous and helpful throughout my visit. Their professionalism was a highlight, as they made a real effort to ensure that guests felt welcome. The hotel is conveniently located at the Bund, just a stone's throw away from a bunch of famous restaurants. The room design is sleek and modern, in line with the usual standards at The Edition. However, there were significant drawbacks. I had the "Do Not Disturb" sign on during my stay and did not require housekeeping. Despite this, I was awakened by a phone call from the front desk one afternoon while I was napping due to jet lag, asking if I needed housekeeping. This felt utterly ridiculous and infuriating, as I had clearly indicated my desire for privacy. Additionally, the walls in the rooms were extremely thin, which meant that I could hear every word of the music being played in my neighboring room, as well as all the noises from people coming and going in the hallway. I assume the hotel is aware of this issue, as they provide earplugs in the room. I would highly recommend using them. The rooms themselves also had some practical issues, such as the lack of a full-length mirror and a very small vanity area, which made getting ready a bit inconvenient.
The Shanghai Edition has a superb location, great facilities, and a terrace with a “to die for” view, but what settles this hotel apart is its staff. Always attentive, aimed to please and ready to solve any “challenge”. Benjamin being the concierge extraordinaire, will make you feel right at home and make your stay an unforgettable one. He will give you the best recommendations and will help avoid tourists traps. He is a gem and The Shanghai Edition must keep him at all costs. P.S Their brunch is top notch and a must try. As a seasoned travel, with demanding tastes, that has had the luck to see the world, I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Shanghai 🤗
Staff are nice and attentive. Big and clean room.

Good Overall.
Excellent hotel. Friendly and professional staff. Highly recommended
Wonderful stay. Breakfast buffet was delicious!
Wonderful location, walk along nanjing road and to the bund.
Phenomenal. Incredible value for money. Fluent English front desk. Incredible service - helped me with a delivery my friend had sent to the hotel for me. Unfortunately for our first time in Shanghai we were too busy to make use of much outside the room, however try and book the punch room as the view onto the bund is top tier. Same as the rooftop bar. Housekeeping noticed I was not wearing anything on my feet so placed slippers in front of me! Such kind kind people. I have stayed in some top hotels around the world and this one is up there!
Amazing
I loved everything about my stay at the a Shanghai Edition. The staff were lovely, the breakfast was so generous and delicious, the bathrooms and bathroom amenities were so luxurious. Don’t hesitate!!
Absolutely loved it! Great location and Tailor was amazing! Disappointed that only one concierge spoke English and he was amazing ! The other one didn’t at all! It was hard for others to speak! Tailor was beyond amazing there
the food is good
Absolutely fantastic stay. Every single person working there were so attentive, respectful, friendly, making our stay in Shanghai so pleasant.
Our stay in Shanghai
Benjamin was so kind. Everything in the hotel is nice, also the excellent restaurant hiya in the 27 floor
One of my favorite Edition Hotels. Beautifully designed hotel with well thought our rooms, excellent F&B venues and a friendly group of staff. Highly recommended.
Great hotel, rooms, and staff. On weekends lobby can be busy and noisy. Convenient location especially close to the Bund (great rooftop views). Taxi drop off area however can be hard to find and inconvenient for baggage loading. Valet/bell hop services can be improved for guests. We got in at night and valet did not have any luggage trolley to help carry luggage into the front desk.
Great service but not great for the rest
The hotel location / access is not the easiest. Their is not real lobby convenient for meetings. The breakfast is mediocre. No espresso coffee machine in room Rooms are not large. Shower area and design is not well thought about and has some functioning problems. With all there - the services and attention from stuff is excellent. I recommend rather to tourist and young people for more of an exploration stay.
Many better value hotels in Shanghai
Checked in on 12/23 around 6PM. for a 4 night stay Was assigned a room, and I asked if there was higher floors available. NONE was available Went to my assigned room, and the room smell was just foul. Smells like bad plumbing or someone use the bathroom not too long ago.. Called receptionist about the smell, they came up and brought us to a higher floor that we originally requested. This is unacceptable for a $350+ a night room in Shanghai, In a city where I have plenty of other options. 1. The lack of sincere accommodation to my request especially on a 4 day stay. 2. The awful smell, how are rooms released to customer with that smell??
It was classy, yet modern. It was very clean and people were nice.
Great location, attractive rooms with all amenities. The staff is particularly great-- attentive, ready to help with any question or problem (not just about the hotel, but helping foreigners get around Shanghai). Especially appreciated Vinson's above and beyond assistance. Zoe and Lily were friendly and helpful. Would have preferred Chinese food in the restaurant but breakfast was excellent. Cool rooftop bar.
Glam
Very streamlined and clean. The service is amazingly next level, highly recommend.
Wow
Amazing
Very nice. We liked a lot ! Maybe you should invest in more da facilities .
A stay above expectation
lovely hotel with tasteful decor and good selection of quality food and drinks. The night club is a good surprise. Only downside is the location, very touristy and overly crowded.
Beyond awesome!
Just amazing! Can’t say enough about this place. The GM, club manager, and bar manager Bob, were all awesome! I’ll definitely be back!
Super friendly staffs and the room is new and clean
Average 5 star with a fancy name and price tag
Hotel was new so overall experience was pleasant but it definitely wasn’t worth its price. It is branded as a luxury hotel but there wasn’t anything to wow, the luxurious feel was lacking. Other international 5 star hotels at lower prices fair better. It is really just your average new hotel.
Clean, spacious rooms, wonderful bar with awesome view. Wonderful staff, awesome lobby, multiple restaurants. Located on walking street and close to waterfront.
Very well situated, great service, great view of Pudong/Skyline from Punch bar
Best hotel in Shanghai
Stylish hotel at great location. Definitely the best hotel I’ve stayed in Shanghai. Highly recommend grand bund view room as you can have beautiful view over waitan and oriental pearl tower.
Best hotel in Shanghai
By far the best hotel I stayed at in Shanghai. The entire staff speaks English, which was a delightful surprise. Aside from that it is clear they make an effort to put guests first no matter what. Smooth seamless service at the spa, restaurants, and all 9 bars...yes. they were so amazing I couldn't stop from trying them all. And I'm sorry grandma, but their eggnog is better than our family recipe. Upgrading to the bund view premium rooms is worth every penny, even on cloudy days. Also, I would say this is easily better than the Four Seasons and Oriental, both of which I've stayed before. Many thanks!!!
A wonderful stay
The staffs were extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms were huge, clean and modern! Location was perfect as well. It’s walking distance to the famous Nanjing Road and there were lots of other shopping streets around too. We couldn’t ask for anything better than this. Thumbs up!
Great hotel, convenient location, amazing staff
Our stay at the Edition was great in almost every way. To start, the hotel is either new or newly renovated so the rooms are in impeccable shape, they are spacious, well appointed and have wonderful bathrooms. The in-room amenities (from the Nespresso coffee maker to the plush wardrobes) were top-notch. The location is also a plus, as the property sits right on E. Nanjing Rd (an important commercial, walkable street) located directly across from the (high-end) New World mall; 1/4 block away from the pedestrian-only Nanjing area (two more shopping center and hundreds of stores and restaurants); two minute walk to the subway (lines 2 and 10) and three (long) blocks away from the famous Bund. The bars on the 28 and 29th floor of the hotel are AMAZING and you get some of the best views Shanghai has to offer. As far as negatives, we found the staff of the restaurant under-trained and the service unreliable. The food was OK but not great, so after our first meal in the hotel, we decided to eat out. Also, this hotel is very occidental making it a great choice if you're looking for something familiar, but not so much if you're looking for an authentic experience. In this respect, the Peninsula, Langham or even the Waldorf are more oriental. Lastly, a shout out to the concierge staff who made our stay much easier by assisting with dining reservations, suggestions, transfers etc.
Beautiful view, convenient (but crowded) location. Staff was bery friendly and helpful. Loved the mirrors in the bathroom!
New Hotel with great service but bad location
My stay overall was pleasant but there were a few things to note:- 1. curb side design was a nightmare, cars constantly compete with pedestrian tourist to get in the curb side to park 2. room operations need to be reviewed. on day one i found that there were leftover water in the coffee machine and dust at the bottom of the tea pot. 3. i experienced an overcharging problem with my guarantee as they rollover my room rate with the guarantee even though i have paid in full when i made the reservation. 4. there was substantial noise in my room (i was on 17F and club was at 28F) 5. Tavern (the lobby restaurant) has serious exhaust problem. Me and my guest had smell of steak all over our clothes after sitting in there for 2 hours. Overall I feel that the hotel could do much better had it been moved to a more prestigious location. I will go back for the club but probably will not stay in the hotel.
Great concept Top Hotel!
great hotel, great concept and great happenings! It's a greta hotel connecting people and offering a great city experience. loved it!
Amazing oasis from the city. The restaurants and spa were fantastic. The view from the terrace is unbeatable. Highly recommend.
Great location. Everything in is brand new, staff is very attentive, they speak English and actually understand what you say. Reception was very helpful. The rooftop bar has a great view and we liked the cocktails.

Excellent Stay
Because of a very pleasant experience the last time I’d stayed at Shanghai EDITION, I decided to make a return. My family and I stayed at EDITION for 5 nights and every night was great - all the way from arrival to departure, the staff / crew were implacable. Special mention of Benjamin Zhou who made our stay even better. He was attentive to details and very knowledgeable. Very helpful and assisted us in whatever we needed. He also went above and beyond to help us plan / arrange meals whenever we needed. He’s an asset to the hotel and a joy to be around when inquiring help. Would definitely come back to EDITION again! Cheers to all of the staff at the hotel as well, from bellboy to cleaners.
