Lovely stay at The Pointer
Me and my wife had a lovely stay at The Pointer. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food and facilities was very nice.
Lovely and friendly , clean and comfortable room.
A lovely place for my American guest to stay in . She loved it! Thank-you to “The Pointer Team”.
Loved it
Lovely Pub, Lovely Food, Friendly staff, really good size room and would definitely stay here again
A star plus excellent all round
Convenient for our needs and food was great. Need to keep bar open longer on a Sunday night as it was shut at 22.00 which was disappointing.
Highly recommended
Fabulous service, spotless, comfortable room. Clean, modern with good facilities. Enjoyed meals in restaurant. All round superb. Great location for Blenheim Palace and Oxford, or the surrounding countryside.
No pointers beeded
Wonderful room, bed was sooo comfortable. Would highly recommend and will stay there again
Fabulous Hotel
One word Excellant Hotel
Disappointing stay
The food was terrible We had dinner and breakfadt
Charming village location and nice style
This is a really lovely pub and rooms above the pub in an exceptionally charming village. Room we had was lovely - nice products, spacious bathroom. The breakfast was charged separately but was really good - evening meal service not quite the same standard I would say.
Great service, food and accommodation
Overnight stay
Excellent staff Efficient check inDinner and breakfast very good
Lovely country pub with great food in the restaurant. We were room only and breakfast was so expensive we only did it once; definitely not worth the price of breakfast. Nice rooms and lovely big bathrooms.
Brill is lovely, hotel comfy.
Booked as attending a wedding nearby. Checking in and out was quick and easy, staff were friendly. When booking, it didnt give me a breakfast option which was inconvenient as the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. You can buy breakfast at an additional cost but we had paid £139 for 1 night and didnt want to pay an additional £13.95 for a cooked breakfast.
Lovely setting
Lovely place great setting. It was obvious i was a contractor said breakfast was at 8 said i needed to be gone by then they never offered anything else no packed lunch or discount of evening meal that was my only issue other than that it was brill in brill
Lovely room, clean and well appointed. A bit hot and the fan was super noisy.
Cute place
Lovely location, clean room but we did have a terrible time with the radiators. We had to bleed them to stop the awful rattling,so we lost a night's sleep which was a real shame. we were also surprised that the room wasn't cleaned and cleared of dirty cups from the previous day's breakfast things. It would have been nice to have been given a complimentary drink or a discount but we didn't!
No wifi in room
Room was nice but no wifi coverage apart from in the bathroom! Milk in the fridge was out of date. Bedside lamp didnt work. Apart from this the place is nice.
At dinner staff brought dishes we hadn't ordered and failed to bring those we had. We ate them because the process of ordering had been so difficult that we cut our losses and ate whatever was brought. At around 2.00 a.m the building's alarm system was activated. There was apparently no staff around either to tell us how to respond or to switch it off and it continued for approx 30 min. Breakfast consisted of cold croissants, some cereal and fruit left outside the room. In addition milk for the cereal etc. was in a communal container in a fridge on a landing. This is not acceptable in any circumstance, let alone in current climate. Although we delayed our departure (finally left at 8.50 a.m.) in order to discuss the above with the management and to see and approve the final bill, no member of the management appeared. I look forward to your response. Dr Ken Clarke
Loved every minute of our stay
The place was perfect. Customer service outstanding. We would highly recommend. The food was also amazing
What a wonderful place to stay! We really enjoyed our time here and particularly were impressed with how nice our room was. The roll-top bath was a lovely touch and the toiletries/facilities were very high end. The pub itself does amazing food and is a gorgeous place to sit and relax.
Simple and comfortable
Clean and friendly, directly above the bar so a little noisy until after 11, simple room but very comfortable.
Great little find
Great food. Good room.
Amazing stay
Fantastic pub food, easy to park and then such a comfy bed in a lovely quiet clean room. You just can't ask for any more. ps did you know the Great Train Robbery plan was hatched here when it was the Red Lion?
The Pointer
Fantastic very spacious room. Great village location with 2 good pubs and great local walks. Short drives to nearest towns. Room completed to very high standard. Rainforest shower. Staff very welcoming and accommodating.
Fab find
Lovely find. Very comfy bed, lovely soft linens, lots of towels, dressing gowns, plenty of bathroom smellies, coffee machine in the room. We were very comfortable and had a lovely stay. The pub menu was limited but what we had was delicious. If you’re thinking of booking, do it!
Very friendly staff.
I loved the quality and friendliness of staff
This was a really nice place to stay for a night away. Nice small village, good food and comfortable room
Quiet and relaxing
Stunning rooms comfortably clean and spacious lovely bathroom and shower. Restaurant lovely food great staff and welcoming
Rooms tastefully furnished, bathroom spacious & loved the raindrop shower. Nice to have such a large selection of towels too. Nice little touches throughout. Food was excellent in the evening & great breakfast. People do seem to let the main door to the bar slam & with it being an old place you can hear it but other than that would definitely stay again if in the area.
Very pleased to stay in an independently-run restaurant with rooms that also serves the local community well, rather than an anonymous chain. Welcoming and efficient staff, lovely food and very comfortable rooms with a lot of thoughtful touches. We'd be happy to stay again. Wish we could have got our bedroom windows to open and struggled with the TV until we found it had been switched off at the wall; also we could only get channels 1-99, but overall a really good experience.
Pro: new, nice design, cosy room. Food hamper upon arrival which is great. Con: the carpet is a bit too rough for bare feet. I was not communicated timely about the breakfast being skipped at first place - due to bank holiday weekend. However the manager decided to carry on operating breakfast service as usual so it was fine at the end.
Absolutely Brill!!
Lovely stay at the Pointer. Fabulous room - everything was perfect - delicious breakfast. Staff really welcoming and couldn’t do enough to make our stay relaxing.
Fabulous accommodation and good food with friendly staff
Lovely old village feel. Rooms absolutely fabulous, roomy and very clean.
bueatiful rooms, very good foof& service......stunning location
Great for a short stay for a trip to Bicester. Lovely food, comfortable bed and excellent bathroom.
Night away
Lovely place to stay food at the restaurant opposite was great.
Beautiful B&B and the food in the pub was excellent - we left very full and well rested!
Pointer review
I would rate this hotel 5 star. The room and food was exceptional. The staff couldn’t do enough were
excellent!
Fantastic stay - room was superb and beyond comfortable and the staff were amazing and could not have been more helpful - highly recommended
I stayed here while on business and found the Hotel and Restaurant to a very good standard. Lovely people, couldn’t be more helpful, even made a takeaway breakfast as I had an early start. Food was excellent and will certainly stay again.
A secret that needs to be shared
The bedroom was wonderful, as was the bathroom; it was one of the deluxe rooms but worth the extra money. It exceeded expectations and we will certainly stay again, it was indeed deluxe bed and breakfast so the term was accurate. The dinner was divine, locally sourced food cooked exceptionally well. A well designed food menu, purposefully restricted to enable perfection, as are the best food establishments. Breakfast was the best Full English I have ever had, due in part to the locally sourced produce but also to the care taken. Restaurant manager was attentive and knowledgable with the right amount of balanced presence. Our two night stay was wonderful and we will be back soon, not only due to the friendly staff who made our stay so enjoyable, but also due to the well designed menu and perfectly presented food. We look forward to sampling more dishes as they change with regard to season and local supply. Stay here, eat here, you will not be disappointed.
Lovely village bed and breakfast
We booked The Pointer on recommendation from a friend who lived nearby. The rooms are new and fitted out to a high standard. A nice mattress, soft pillows, and quality towels. Breakfast was in the The Pointer pub over the road and the cooked breakfast we equally good using local ingredients, including from their own farms and butcher. We will be back when we are next in the area.
Superb
Lovely boutique rooms opposite the related excellent pub.

Spacious rooms, needed a dust!
The rooms are spacious and cosy. The desk area could have done with a dust and the shower fitments were a little leaky, but mainly a great place with fine food in the bar/restaurant!
