Fresh and clean

Nicely renovated hotel. This was the first time in memory I was not scared to walk barefoot on the carpet in a hotel. However if you have a choice do not get a room with others above. We think there were elephants in the room above. The diner options for breakfast seemed a bit pricey and unequal. The hubs got 3 sausages, 2 eggs, home fries and toast. For the same price I got 1 piece of avocado toast. On thin bread.

I had an excellent stay!

I would’ve given more overall star’s, but the noise level in the room above us was bad. Sounded like there was a big dog up there running back and forth. Either they were throwing a ball back and the dog was running for it or the person was very heavy footed. It would start at 5:30am. Sleep was very interrupted by this. I spoke to the front desk on the second day and they said it was just one person in there with no dog. I think they snuck it in there then. Anyway, cute place but walks are thin!

This is a beautifully decorated & maintained property. A little noisy but would definitely stay again! We loved it! The restaurant was great too with a live jazz band some nights.

I felt this accommodation was not worth the price. It has no elevator, no pool or hot tub, it is aged . You get just the basics.

This property was beautifully renovated recently. The rooms were comfortable and clean. There is a really fun backyard area with some games and comfy chairs to relax on.

I did not think the restaurant was very good. I ordered fish tacos and there was the smallest piece of fish in there - not more than 3' long by 1.5 inches which looked like a frozen fish stick. They were out of snacks in the four lobby (nothing) but a staff member was kin enough to give me a bar that he had. :) The rest of the hotel was ok and it's dog friendly!

While there is no elevator, this hotel is a wonderful choice. It is not far from the shopping and dining in the area. Ubers are a great option rather than $12/hr for parking when you go down to the water front.

Beautiful clean hotel but has no elevator. Also beds and pillows we did not find comfortable.

The rooms are updated and clean but the walls are paper thin causing noise disturbances. Customer service was underwhelming with the less than welcoming front desk attendant. Not ideally located to attractions or downtown areas. Definitely overpriced for offerings. Good for an overnight if passing through the area. A nice motel at best.

Bartenders and housekeeping staff are friendly and rooms are clean. As hotel I was not happy to discover I had to hall my luggage up 3 flights of stairs. At 68, an offer of help would have been nice. Phone in room wouldn’t front call desk, and I had to tighten toilet seat bolts to make using it less adventurous. Lighting is poor, and 2 people sitting up in bed causes the mattress to slide of the end. Experience was less than I expected given the brand.

We checked into the Pell Hyatt on 6/9. Upon check out we were shocked to see a $500 smoking fee charged. We strongly denied smoking and had a heated exchange with Eric the manager at the property. Eric went upstairs and smelled the room and by his own admission smelled nothing smoke like. The only possible thing that could have tripped that sensor was my hair appliance which is a hair dryer brush. It is applied directly on wet hair and gets very hot. We were told this is impossible, the sensor is never wrong and that we are liars along with anyone else who claims this which if you look at this property’s reviews was only a few weeks ago when a nurse also claimed this. We later found out the device tripped again, right before we checked out and dried my hair a short time before Eric went into the room himself and smelled no smoke. After a follow up call Eric did credit us for half the fee only because the $500 would not have to be used to clean because there was no smell of smoke. While we appreciate this it is not enough because we did not smoke or vape and wonder what they will do with the other $250 being it is not needed to clean. Hyatt may beat us out of the $250 but have so much more to lose in future business and reputation. Calling your guests liars and not even checking that maybe you are in fact wrong. Eric has also declined to respond to follow up emails so we are hoping someone from Hyatt will reach out to try and remedy this wrong.

Friendly staff, clean rooms and decent food but this property is a remodeled motel with a pricey restaurant. The package I got had a $15 per day voucher for the restaurant, probably because they don’t offer free coffee. Neither Expedia nor or this property tell you about the $20 per day destination that you get hit with when you check out.

Brandon, at the front desk, was a true professional. Friendly, informative and checked all the boxes for our special requests on a sold out night. Hotel is freshly remodeled, super clean and a great option when visiting Newport. We will be back!

The room is spacious, clean, well maintained and cozy. Staff are friendly and courteous. Ambience is great if you like somewhere quiet and affordable yet just 10 min drive to nearby attractions. Conveniently surrounded by groceries stores and food places. Will choose same place to stay if we are coming back again.

The lobby area was clean and cozy. The beds and pillows were to soft. The location for what we were there for was perfect.

Very esthetic hotel

One of my pet peeves when checking into a hotel is the greeting at the front desk. Even though I like this hotel very much I suggest that the front desk be a bit friendlier when checking in. I picked this hotel for a reason and would continue to visit. Other than that, the hotel was clean and quiet and accommodating. It's in a great location, can drive into town very easily.

Such a pleasant surprise. We had a one night stop in Rhode Island and happened upon the Pell. It was beautifully renovated, clean, and had comfortable beds all for a great price. We would highly recommend it!

Very clean and organized staff

This is a clean and comfortable property in a great location. The staff service was excellent. The main restaurant and bar was excellent and I had no need to go elsewhere for food during my brief stay. It was an easy Uber ride to the airport. If I’m in the area I’d gladly stay there again.

Good location

I liked the hotel and it's restaurant/bar. But as I was checking out, I was presented with a surprise fee which I did not learn about from hotels.com - a "Destination fee" of $20 plus tax. So the hotel price wasn't as good as I thought.

Clean quiet easy access

The staff was very friendly, the facilities were clean, and the restaurant food was delicious. It was easy to access the room from the parking lot, so it would be convenient for people with a lot of luggage or those with limited mobility.

Nice location & friendly staff, though online photos are definitely taken in the best light and at the best angles. The "gym" is an absolute joke, the onsite bar/cafe was pretty good. Not bad at all of it were a Holiday Inn on a small island, but def not what I was expecting from a Hyatt property.

This hotel is gorgeous and conveniently located near Newport at half the price of Newport hotels. The staff that greeted us upon entering clearly should not work in hospitality. The woman who checked us in on April 5, 2025 did not want to be bothered. She asked for a credit card for incidentals and said my card would not be charged but as soon as I got to my room, my card was charged. When I asked her about it, she said the charge will come off after my stay. 5-7 business days later. She shouldn't have said it wouldn't charge in the first place. The gentleman who worked in the afternoon was so nice. He offered us a microwave, kettle, and to remove our trash before we got back to our room in the evening. When we checked out, we saw the same lady that checked us in and she was still in the same "I can't be bothered" attitude. She doesn't smile, no pleasantries, nothing. Just having a bad weekend at our expense. I love the hotel but not enough to have her work the check-in/out desk.

s modern comfortable and stylish. I loved the modern upscale beach vibe and the extra living spaces to hang out. The food and service from your restaurant was wonderful. We ended up eating more meals than we planned. Loved your iced latte with Oatmilk! We will be happy to stay again.

I stayed at the Pell for my birthday and let me start by saying I had an awesome time. They made my birthday dinner absolutely lovely. The staff at the restaurant (I wish I got the name of our server, she was a woman who looked to be in her late 40s/mid 50s). She was such a darling, helping me take pictures and just making sure I had an enjoyable time. I’m looking forward to coming back. The location of the hotel was also super convenient as it was a few minutes away from a lot of places.

Modern, clean, and friendly staff

Updated recently. Very clean and modern. The lobby "living room" area had a fireplace and sofa with chairs that was nice to sit and have drinks, and mingle with others. It was located right across the bar. Everyone was friendly too, both staff and other customers.

We had a great stay at the Pell! Great customer service from the whole staff! Felt like we were at our home the way everyone treated us. We loved Jesse and Mo at the Helmway Restaurant too that is connected right to the Pell.

THIS HOTEL NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME HOW PERFECT AND SO NICE EVERYTHING AND EVERYBODY IS. WE HAVE STAYED HERE IN THE PAST AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO COME BECAUSE THE STAY HERE IS ALWAYS SO ENJOYABLE. KUDOS TO ALL THE STAFF.
