Weekend in the Cotswolds
Great location for exploring the Cotswolds. The pub is a lovely country pub. Its right next door to Hook brewery which does a lovely breakfast. The room we had was large and spacious for all 4 of us. We highly recommend this pub.
Ok at a pinch.
Comfortable bed, and a lovely beamed bedroom. A bit noisy but it was a saturday night and we were warned when we arrived as room was directly above the bar. Fire doors were left jammed open with blocks of wood (which are by each door) which needs to stop as it is dangerous. Rooms need better ventilation fans to stop the mould...see photos. My reccomendation is to stay in the star inn nearby.
A real old pub with accommodation and a brewery next door - fantastic
Short stay at the Pear Tree
Stayed for two nights as part of a bigger trip and also to do the brewery tour. We were given room 1 which was huge and very comfortable. In the mornings we took breakfast at the brewery and the evening a meal at the Sun Inn, both were excellent and a short walk away. The pub doesn’t do hot food itself but I think it gives it a better atmosphere. They were setting up a food van for the Saturday we left.
Warm welcome, well presented room. Great beer and bar snacks! Recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The room was lovely but there was excessive noise and swearing from the pub garden until well after midnight and builders making noise from 8am. So a real shame.
The location was lovely, I only had a stop over for my journey north but would love to visit again. I had a lovely welcome from the staff. The room was large with everything I needed to feel at home and have a good nights sleep.
Family room was very spacious . The Pear tree is in a fantastic location
. The noise overnight from the air conditioning/local brewery/or something. Otherwise excellent. Accommodation, staff and of course, beer, excellent. Will be back, Ian
Good return visit.
Perfectly pleasant room and friendly staff. I have stayed there a couple of times previously and would be happy doing so again in future.
Spacious room with a comfortable bed. Lovely bathroom and friendly staff.
Room was spacious, clean and a comfy bed. Staff very helpful.
Lovely
Nice Inn, the rooms are above a local bar, it was noisy until the bar closed. The rooms where clean and the staff friendly. It is located on a small country road, far from any town.
Not great - smelt - bad mattress - no breakfast despite saying it was included!?!?
A lovely friendly pub serving as the brewery tap to Hook Norton brewery which is a 4 minute stroll away. Accommodation was excellent and good value. Truly 5***** recommended
Beautiful old world & friendly staff
Cosy stay, lovely location
A lovely location. The room was very spacious and comfortable with a huge bed. A lovely cosy pub to have a drink in as well and a very good base if you’re visiting the nearby Brewery. Would definitely recommend their restaurant for breakfast!
The close proximity to the Hook Norton Brewery was a bonus. The restaurant was excellent at the brewery as was the brewery tour.
Slightly disappointed after our last superb stay
Understood that no breakfast would be available (as I read) but had expected evening meals to be served. It would be helpful to be added. Room 1, shower support bracket broken making it impossible to have a proper shower. Misc damage to parts of room although size of room applauded and appreciated. We could only find one shower towel (and shower mat) in the morning nothing else. We stayed some 7 or 8 years ago and would have said everything couldn't have been better when we left.
Great ales and a comfy snooze
From the moment you step inside the Pear Tree Inn, you are met with a warm and friendly welcome. Located in the charming village of Hook Norton, this could become my fave pub and village in the UK! Adorned with beautiful hanging baskets and the namesake pear tree, ripe with fruit, the pub has a large beer garden, perfect for sipping a cool pint in the summer sun. Our bedroom was beautifully furnished, a blend of rustic wooden furniture, modern furnishings and traditional roof beams. The bathroom was well equipped with lovely toiletries and a huge fluffy white bath sheet. Downstairs in the bar, you will find a great selection of ales and ciders available from the local brewery down the road, along with a good selection of wines and spirits. Highly recommend this inn as a place to drink and snooze!
Excellent room
Lovely accommodation in a beautiful setting. The family room was perfect and very comfortable. We would have liked it if there was breakfast available but it wasn't the end of the world.
The family room was clean and large. Getting to it through the pub was disconcerting because it was unexpected. There wasn’t annoying noise, even though the pub was full for game night.
Great place to stay
A great place to stay and explore the Cotswolds.
Basic accomodation
The best thing about our stay here was the breakfast at the Brewery up the road - but we had to ask for the discount vouchers towards this each day, they weren't provided automatically. The room was large but fairly basic, a few cracks iin the walls and short on furniture. There was no heating or mechanical ventlation in the bathroom. But the bed was comfortable and the heating made a valliant effort to keep the room warm in very cold conitions and the shower worked OK.
No food.No milk in room hardly any tea bags and worst of all music in bar left on all through the night and our room directly above it.Room no 3.
The Pear Tree Inn
I booked this as a stopover on business. Nice location, friendly staff. Modest rooms, suitable for getting some sleep. Nice Brewery museum behind the pub. A fair bit of noise from the pub when up in your room but to be expected.
Nice country pub. The only problem was the noise from the bar that went on until after 1 am.
Lovely room - clean quiet and spacious. Fabulous walks great food and dog friendly welcome in all the local pubs. Perfect place for a dog walking holiday.
A great place to rest - quiet, peaceful, full of nature, with a family atmosphere and professional service.
Great place
Great little place, quiet village. Awesome breakfast in the brewery
Good overnight stay or base to explore
Small country pub, with rooms situated on 1st floor. Room we occupied was very spacious with large bed, plenty of storage space for a longer stay. Facilities were all of a good standard, tea, coffee, water & even a sample beer available. No food available on site, but plenty of options in surrounding area. A very good breakfast came in the price & was taken at the Hook Norton Brewery just up the road. Only downsides for some people would be access to the room was via the back of the bar & a fairly steep staircase & there was consistent noise from cooling fans that may be a problem for light sleepers.
Hook Norton is a very friendly village. Wherever we went we were greeted with smiles. Quiet .Lots of walks . Highly recommend a visit and a stay
A very friendly welcome by all the staff in this historic cosy pub. Fully enjoyed our stay and will be definitely returning at some point in the future.
Noisy but nice
Nice, friendly, but a little noisy. Unlike a lot of very old buildings, this one seems to have thin walls , so the sound from the bar is very loud in the bedroom. Nice touch is the free bottle of beer, and it’s obviously very convenient for a brewery tour!
Great overnighter
Lovely stay , some noise in the room from the bar but it was gone by bedtime . Nice bathroom , good bed and shower . Breakfast was with a voucher at the Brewery restaurant about 200 yards away and blooming lovely . Recommended
Great stay
Lovely large room. Bed really comfortable. A bit of noise from the room next door. Breakfast at brewery was good and our voucher covered everything.
Wonderful one-night stay
Wonderful one-night stay at the Pear Tree Hotel and will definitely visit again. From the moment we walked through the door it felt like home. Fantastic helpful staff where nothing was too much trouble, with super thoughtful touches like the free bottle of Hooky, locally sourced coffee and vouchers for breakfast at the local Hook Norton brewery. An easy 10 out of 10.
Very nice room but no towel rails, no tooth mugs, heating a bit noisy but staff very friendly and helpful.
Overnight stay
Our stay at the pear tree. Lovely staff couldn’t do enough and a great sense of humour too fabulous room full of surprises. Will be requesting again impeccably clean and modern / classic style can’t find any faults loved it
Village pub with great garden and beers
Great overnight bed and breakfast pub Lovely setting friendly village pub Large spacious room comfortable with all the facilities Great beer choices Breakfast at the brewery 2 minutes walk away great service and choice
great stay
great place really lovely very clean and a great touch of free beer and tea and coffee ect .we would highly recommend the pear tree inn and hopefully will go back and hope they have sorted the food out but 10/10 for the stay
Owl of a stay
Totally Brilliant, quant little village inn, takes you back in time, oak beams low ceiling, never done food at the time, but there is a pub up the road with great food. Woken up during the night with an owl hooting right outside my window, loved it... complimentary water, a beer, fresh milk for your room coffee/tea. Tour round local brewery too.
Excellent for stop over or for walking in area
Exceptionally large attic room at the top of the Pub. There is parking but car park is small & usually full. Very welcoming host, very large, comfortable bed (King++) with all the usual items available. Were not doing meals at time of visit as waiting for new manager to arrive, but got vouchers (£12.50 each) for breakfast at nearby Hook Norton brewery, which was great. Their is another pub close by (The Sun) which provided meals if required. Info also left re walks in surrounding area was apprechiated.
Little gem
We had one of the best nights sleep in a b&b/ hotel. Friendly staff and tasty breakfast in the brewery up the lane. It’s good value for money. Don’t let initial impressions of the bar put you off it’s an old building but spacious rooms!
Great family room and breakfast, very friendly staff and enjoyed the beer garden and brewery
Lovely place to stay! Very nice that everywhere local is dog-friendly. The beer garden was very cute !
Great place to stay
Really enjoyed our visit friendly staff, good food comfy room and made to feel welcome including our boisterous puppy
Super friendly
Staff couldn't have been nicer. Internet worked really well
Short midweek break at pear tree inn
Pubs have had and are still having a difficult time - this pub is very quaint and small but they have furnished their huge garden space with overhead coverings and heaters there is outside bar and concert type mobile toilets - excellant
Nice Stay in Country Pub owned by brewery.
We stayed here one night on a walking trip. It was just after the easing of lockdown and we found everything very safe and clean. Our room (2) was spacious and very comfortable. The evening meal was tasty and the breakfast at the brewery was excellent. It was a bonus to visit the brewery shop and museum.
Lovely room with excellent facilities. Great food at reasonable prices and excellent choice of local Hook Norton beers.
Beds, breakfast and (great) beer
A slight error with our booking could have caused problems but the landlord went out of his way to make sure we were sorted out. Also, due to it being Boxing Day and the time of our arrival, food service had stopped but again, the landlord sorted us out with something to eat and then refused to charge us for it. Add to the stay the excellent breakfast up the road at the Hook Norton Brewery cafe which was unexpectedly included in the price and the value for money was excellent. I should also mention the great beer available in the pub itself. True, if you can't get a good pint of Hook Norton here you're never going to but it was as good a pint as I've had. Fantastic. We'd certainly stay there again.
Really relaxed, cosy bar, great beer and a fabulous room
Nice
Nice place to stay
Bad sleep 😫
The accommodation was very comfortable, we have no problems regarding this BUT the toom is next door to the air conditioning/chilling generators which were operational and very noisy 24/7, so getting to sleep was very difficult. Apart from that everything else was fine. As the kitchen was not operational during our stay we had a refund fot our breakfasts.
This is the quintessential English pub stay experience - all in a very clean room with great customer service. The pub has managed to hang onto its true roots giving the visitor a great stay along with the ability to relish their time - whether it be in the beautiful garden or in the pub. And it’s in a great location for the village and the brewery.
Nothing except the room was clean. However The Pear Tree Inn is very small and not welcoming. No breakfast was provided although was promised on the booking form. No food was available in the evening either.
In need of makeover very dated
When we arrived we were greeted by very friendly staff, sadly that was probably the only good thing about our stay. The bed was uncomfortable, extremely noisy from the bar if you were in your room which went on until late. The menu was dreadful the choice of pie or pizza as main which was overpriced for what you had, and they did not serve desserts. The room we stayed in was in desperate need of modernising. Access to the rooms were impractical as you had to go via the bar area, and the stair access was very narrow and awkward to go up with luggage.
Found a diamond
Room was clean and spacious. Limited menu but did what we needed. Friendly staff and locals charred to us. Shame we didn’t win in the meat draw!
value for money
Would have been better if the kitchen had been open
Lovely Pub.
On checking in we were informed the Chef had left so there would not be any Breakfast or Dinner available, a reduction was made for no breakfast. Luckily the pub at the other end of the village did excellent evening meals and excellent Breakfasts were available 100 yds. away at the Brewery, still not as convenient as on site.
Gorgeous spacious room, lovely staff and beautiful grounds
It is so lovely here in the country side. We had a love big room. The hotel is small and cosy.
Each time we stay it seems to get better. However, the same very friendly staff, similar friendly customers, reasonable price and massive beds. I love the place.
This is our second visit to the Pear Tree and it won’t be the last. We had a massive room with an equally large bed. The staff are as friendly as anywhere I have stayed. Everything was clean and we had a grea5 breakfast at a time to suit us. The room though was a little tired with old furniture and wanted a few odd jobs doing.
It was good
Best pub I have ever stayed in.
This must be the friendliest pub in Britain. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt like one of the family. Family room was big and clean. Breakfast was great, free Parking, WiFi.
Lovely Village and quaint little pub really comfortable bed but television reception kept cutting out the chef was ill so there was limited meals available and no breakfast but we were refunded immediately would stay again as good value for money
Too noisy.
Really pretty village, nice evening stroll. Value for money, only complaint was from the pub below, super noisy very late into the night, 12.30am
Traditional
Really enjoyed this traditional local pub. The brewery could spend to modernise, but the rooms were comfortable and sizeable. The beers et al were well kept and reasonable, breakfast good too. The locals were welcoming and the staff great.
Comfy bed, Cozy room
While not the cleanest, the room was cozy and large and the bed very comfy. Lots of wasps trying to disturb our dinner but the food was great.
TLC needed
Very friendly place, locals very welcoming, ok food, guests need to be dog lovers as it was an open house to dogs too, this didn’t bother us. The place could do with some TLC inside and out, a good overall clean would make a huge difference. We did enjoy our stay though, lovely village and surrounding areas.
Nice little place
The Pear Tree Inn met our expectations. The room was a bit noisy as it was located directly above the bar, however we were expecting this and it did not bother us. Bed was comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Let down by poor bathroom
Very friendly and welcoming check-in. Spacious room and attractive decor. Old building so narrow stairs and steps to catch you out - to be expected and part of the character of the old inn. Noise in room from bar immediately below but didn't go on late. The big disappointment for us was the bathroom. There was no extract ventilation and no heating, so condensation on walls when the shower was used. The shower tray was very flimsy and creaked and moved. The shower doesn't have a door but the screen doesn't stop water spraying out of the cubicle onto the floor and bathroom door. The door was delaminating as a result. There was no towel rail or hook, so where do you put the towel when having a shower? No shelf for toilet bag etc.Overall a functional disaster. The bathroom really spoilt our experience. If it had been as good as the bedroom, then 4/5. But for the room rate we paid (£85 and no breakfast), it was a disappointment. Please make the bathroom functional and hygienic - heating, ventilation, shower cubicle that works, shelves or hooks.
