Just Superb. It's now our definate "go too" in Scarborough

Amazing

What an amazing find, an off the cuff booking whilst up north. A beautifully decorated building with amazing views, backed by a warm host and friendly staff The room was excellent, bed super comfy and views down to the sea were amazing

Superb, Excellent.

This is a fantastic hotel which me and my wife would thoroughly recommend. Owner Jill could not have been more helpful, with a room upgrade. Cooked Breakfast was hot, and the fruit selection first class. You would find some of the other hotels more expensive and offer you a lot less. This hotel was first class all the way.

The only B&B to stay at in Scarborough as far as we’re concerned. If i could rate it higher i would. The Penthouse is amazing in every respect and worth every penny.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Haleina. Great location with wonderful views over the North Bay. Choice of breakfast was excellent, although a wider choice of pastries would enhance the continental breakfast.

Very happy

A hotter more powerful shower would have been better (maybe user incompetence) but i'll still rate as a 5* as well the cleanliness, for me the plus was the b&b operate a hassle free leave you alone to enjoy your stay attitude, but the staff were quickly there when you needed them to be. Neil.

No Surprises

We did have the smallest room in The hotel but were aware of this on booking, it was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with all you would require for a short weekend stay and excellent value for money at a peak time.

Just the ticket

We came for a weekend stay, very pleasant greeting at reception, clean comfortable room and great breakfast with a few options. Exactly what we wanted

We had a lovely room on the top floor. This is up 6 small flights of stairs so not for those with mobility issues or heavy cases! The Helainia is convenient for the cricket ground and serves a nice breakfast. Our only quibble was having one small bar of soap for both hand washing and use in the shower during our stay (we were told toiletries were not replenished). It was a bit of a struggle to make it last three days. It would have been nice to have separate bars or soap and shower gel in the room.

An excellent B&B near all the attractions.

The Helaina is a very high standard of bed and breakfast property. We stayed in a Premium Double room on the top floor. The room was very spacious with an excellent bathroom/shower. This room is reached by 6 flights of stairs of varying lengths (it is on the 3rd floor), so not for the infirm or those with heavy luggage. The breakfast needs to be booked, but is of a very good standard. There is no parking on the premises, but the B&B can supply a 2 day parking pass for £5. You can purchase as many as you need. The Helaina is very well placed for a short walk to the Castle and down the path to the North beach and the promenade which will take you to the main town and South beach in 15 to 20 minutes walking (or you can go via the church next to the castle).

The whole place is spotless and beautifully decorated. its on a great location with sea views from the communal lounge.

Great view..our room was too small.

This is a nice place for sure. Well appointed and great views. You can have breakfast added on which was just okay. Our big dislike is the size of the room...very small. We were in #3. The sea view was great. When booking I thought king bed meant a bigger room, given the cost. The bed barely fit in the room. The room was frustratingly small. There are a couple of bigger rooms, but at a higher price point. Staff were great. I would not book there again.

View out to sea and the curve of the bay and the castle all fabulous. The hotel was scrupulously clean. Only niggle the room No 7 was small it was big enough but only just.

The Perfect Penthouse

Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile by the receptionist who supported us with sorting a parking permit, helped us with our luggage and ensured we were happy. The room was spotless, spacious and had everything we needed and that was specified on our booking. It also comes with the most beautiful view of the scarborough coastline and the castle at the top of the hill. Its only a two minute walk to the actual beach which is just down a path in front of the hotel. The beach is beautiful and very tidy (barely any littler). We didn't get up on time for breakfast, however the menu looked great and from what i could see caters for all (check online). We will definitely be going again as it was also great value for money.

The hotel was immaculate, breakfast lovely, staff so friendly and accomodating. Especially Luki who works so hard. Cant fault our stay.

Enjoyable stay

Booked one night in a small room (room 10). Very comfortable bed and spotlessly clean. Everything you could want in the room. Space was a bit tight but adequate for one night for a couple. Breakfast was excellent. Would recommend.

Great location for cricket, Open Air Theatre and Cliff top walks. Friendly welcome. Small but well decorated room. Comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast choice. Great artwork on walls. Handy for shops and restaurants (within 10 minute walk). Spotlessly clean.

stayed there a few times now. we try not to stay anywhere else if we can help it. the breakfast is amazing staff are great and it's extremely clean. little touches as well such as biscuits in the tea and coffee tray. had a sea view at no extra cost. can't beat it.

Excellent hotel and friendly professional staff

We had a wonderful stay. The accommodation is excellent, the staff are friendly and professional and the breakfast was delicious. The only negative (and this was our fault for not checking) we were on the top floor and with a heart condition it was a bit of a task getting to the room. It’s not a criticism of the hotel, I would just say to make sure if you have any health conditions you book a lower room. We will definitely return, just to a lower floor. This really is an excellent hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

Very friendly clean comfortable stay, good food and service

Overall enjoyed our stay, beds very comfortable and room clean. Nice quality of coffee and biscuits. Staff helpful and friendly. Will definitely stay here again.

The Helaina

We had a perfect one night stay at The Helaina, it went so fast though and we were sorry to leave the following morning. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean with nice modern decoration. Very nice comfortable bed. The sea view was amazing. Breakfast was delicious, everything cooked to perfection. We would love to stay here again one day soon. Thank you Lucky for making us feel so welcome, and for the great service 👍😊

Excellent hotel. Our room was compact but everything was just perfect. Luxury bedding and towels, shampoo provided. Plenty of Tea and coffee and especially milk pots. Good Breakfast choice. We had the full English. It was excellent. Parking on the street but easily found a space then on checkin the member of staff gave us a 24hr permit with no charge. Honesty fridge in the lounge, choice of refreshments. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful but...

We had a lovely time at the Helaina. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the furniture and fittings are very high quality ; the decor is stylish. The breakfasts were plentiful and excellent. Staff are very friendly. However, some of the rooms have a double bed in what is effectively a single sized room: (it is only just possible to squeeze past the bed !); if you have much luggage, the whole floor area is soon covered (under bed storage would have partly overcome this problem ). This lack of space is a serious drawback in a hotel that charges top prices: not good value for money.

Great B&B

Located in between North and South Beach looking out across the sea. Need a car or ability to walk distances to get to places. Very clean and comfortable and staff very helpful

Fabulous stay! Had a room with a sea view which was lovely. Room beautifully decorated, very comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast, good choice of continental and cooked. Very friendly & helpful staff.

Lovely place to stay in Scarborough

Lovely place to stay. You can purchase parking for £2 and we managed to get a space outside the b&b. Very warm and welcoming host. Room was clean and beautifully presented. Breakfast was delicious

Superb accomodation

Amazing stay at this fantastic hotel/guest house. The standard is second to none, and has a fantastic location overlooking the North bay. Make sure you book a sea view, as the views go all the way from Sea Life to the Castle. Room 4 has a superb bay window to sit in a take in the views The meticulous detail and cleanliness is down to a great team who clearly take pride in ensuring your stay is all it can be. Superb cooked breakfast in the morning to set you up for the day. Would definitely stay again when next in town

Lovely stay

Great location and easy parking

Parking was on street, but there was lots available right next to the hotel. Room was small but well laid out. WIFI was great and I was able to stream video with no interruptions. Bed was comfortable and lots of pillow choices.

Very clean and friendly, rooms are a little on the small size but adequate. Very good breakfast, we enjoyed our stay.

Excellent Stay

From when we checked in and to the checkout our stay was excellent, all the staff that we met and dealt with us were friendly and courteous ,Both the managers who served us breakfast each morning were attentive and asked us if our meal was okay and if we wanted anything else also asked how our previous day had been and what were we going to do today and gave us suggestions on different things we could do which helped us on our decisions for the day, The breakfast was excellent all the ingredients sourced from the local butcher and farmer , a great choice for breakfast including a vegetarian option, the room we stayed in 5 was a little cramped but the service and cleanliness made up for that, We will definitely book again in the future ,Thank you for a excellent stay!

Modern, comfortable and very clean. Friendly staff. Well situated with cheap on street parking. Plentiful and tasty breakfasts.

Very good location with lovely views. Beautiful decor throughout. Very clean everywhere. Room was very comfortable with good shower and lovely shower products. Staff very friendly and obliging. Would definitely stay again.

Really lovely place and staff. Breakfast was fab! Great location - room was small but thats cos the bed was so big & comfy! Ensuite was a bit tired. The shower wasn't great and the toilet roll holder was broken so kept sliding off - easier to keep it on the floor! will definitely be back though.

A lovely stay with the highest possible standards

One of the best B and B's we have ever stayed in. From the minute we arrived, we felt welcome and at home. We had a lovely room at the front of the property with a terrific sea view. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in and the room was clean and comfortable. There is a lovely front room to enjoy a drink in and the 'honesty bar' work really well. The decor of the property is modern and very tastefully done with some lovely pictures in the hallway and breakfast room. The breakfast was cooked to perfection and really set us up for the day. The couple who run this place obviously work really hard and deserve credit for their endeavours.

Best B&B in Scarborough

If i could rate it higher i would. 3rd time of staying here now and it wont be the last. If you can stay in the penthouse you should, it is an amazing room with spectacular views, well worth the lofty stair climb. Breakfast is always amazing and the staff are so friendly and attentive. I've stayed in higher priced hotels that don't hold a candle to this wonderful b&b in a beautiful area of Yorkshire.

Can't recommend enough

Absolutely fantastic hotel, service was exceptional. The room was was clean and well presented with all amenities well filled and provided daily, breakfast was amazing and the staff are an absolute credit to the place, kind helpful and cheery no matter the time if day. Will only stay here in Scarborough from now on.

Home for a rest .

Our stay at the Helaina hotel was ok. I wouldn't say good .We payed extra for the penthouse room ,the view was lovely, the bed was comfortable and it was very clean. But we are both in our mid 60s and the room was on the 4th floor with no lift . I've never stayed anywhere where the floorboards creaked so much , every time my husband went to the bathroom in the night i was woken up and it probably disturbed the people in the room below us. There was no reading lamp in the living area so i couldn't read while my husband was having a sleep. The breakfast was plentiful but they got my order wrong twice. There's NO bar just a couple of fridges with a selection of drinks and a pad to write down what you had taken , they didn't have anything we liked so it was a waste of time. Had i known all these things i wouldn't have paid so much and booked for four nights .

Excellent service, spotless room lovely and warm on a winters evening with a great selection of teas, coffees and drinking chocolate, an included breakfast to die for, no bar but we didn’t travel to scarborough to stay in, a great price and would highly recommend.

Stayed here many times before but our first sea view room. Fabulous view, great room, well worth the extra. Will definitely stay again and will have sea view room if available.

A really nice place for a stay. Comfortable and spotlessly clean room and an excellent breakfast. The young lady manager is very friendly and helpful. Seating and wonderful views of the bay right outside the front door.

A great stay at The Helaina. Beautiful views of The North Bay. A warm welcome, comfy bed, great breakfast. All round very pleased.

Loved the location. Had a beautiful sea view from our room. Breakfast had a cold buffet with fruits, yogurts cereals, juices, jams followed by a hot full English breakfast of any kind. The staff were friendly and accommodating and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

The room was very small and we had to be moved we were on the top floor. The room we moved to was also small (not much room between the foot of the bed and the wall). And they got my name wrong when booking

Just one thing shower enclosure a little to smal. Trouble getting in and out. Rest of the room was brilliant and a lovely bed and sea views

Taking advantage of the sunshine

Went on short notice due to good weather forecast. Excellent hotel and Scarborough lived up to expectations and was good value for money. Only slight area of disappointment is number of people in town carrying cans/bottles of drink in various states of inebriation

We had a lovely weekend. From getting there to leaving nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were amazing and set us up for the day. The little touches like the chocolates on the bed to the dressing gown in the bathroom made it a bit more special.

Small and very friendly hotel in very nice location. Rooms were cosy but very comfortable and in excellent decorative condition. Breakfast was superb. Parking no problem with the permits provided by the hotel. Great value for money and we'd thoroughly recommend it to others.

Comfy trouble-free stay

We were traveling from Edinburgh to London and looking for an overnight break. Scarborough and this hotel were an excellent choice. Our third floor seaview room had great views indeed. The hotel was very clean, the bar had a great and reasonably priced choice, the vegetarian breakfast to order was comfy and tasty. Only as we were driving out of town the following day did we realise there is another Blackpool/Brighton-type side to Scarborough around the corner and realised how good of a choice we actually made to stay at The Helaina.

Best place on The North Bay

Good position overlooking bay. Handy for town centre.

My only issue was the size of the room and the nightmare parking. The hotel was beautiful and clean.

Scarborough 2018

Never been to Scarborough before, was a bit surprised at how many drunk and drugged up people that were around along with the boy racers hogging the sea front! Robin Hood bay however was amazing.

I have been coming to Scarborough since I was very very young. Excellent hotel in a fantastic location with a lovely sea view.

Fantastic Hotel worth the 5 star rating.

The hotel is worth the 5 stars. From initial contact which was very friendly and helpful the service was excellent, very knowledgeable on the local area. The deluxe room we stayed in was very clean, modern and looked freshly painted. Information in the room about restraints was informative. Breakfast was delicious, a range of both continental and cooked including my favourite smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Overall a excellent stay.

Nice quiet hotel

Nice hotel, with friendly staff, and lovely views over the north bay, managed to get parked right outside, and didn't use our car again during our stay, plenty of local knowledge of local amenities, and some nice walks around the hotel. Very quiet location and a 15 minute walk into town, Scarborough has improved a lot since we were last there, and the shopping, bars and restaurants a good. We used the local buses and the transport links are good, we went to Whitby for the day, but you can go all over the coast if you fancy a day out. As we booked late the hotel was full, so we got a small en suite room, it had all the facilities, tea and coffee, hairdryer, and TV, and we managed ok during our 3 night stay, but it was a bit cosy, but we enjoyed our stay.
