The staff were excellent and checked us in very quickly. The ambiance in this Inn was exceptional and customers (locals from the village) were extremely friendly. Unfortunately I hadn’t explained (when booking) that I had mobility problems although I can manage stairs and steps with care). We were booked into room 4 which is up a flight of metal stairs on the outside of the property. I managed this one step at a time. The room wasn’t very big and had a step down from the hall, and a high step up to the compact shower room. There wasn’t any room to spare and it was difficult to get round the bed with two adults in the room. The bed was very low and I had difficulty getting up. We had the lighter breakfast. One porridge which was delicious but the other breakfast advertised as a choice of cereals (and to be honest there WAS a choice) but as an elderly adult I sort of expected some healthy choice - maybe weetabix, fruit and fibre or muesli. The choice of Coco Pops, Corn flakes or Rice Crispiest wasn’t the most interesting or flavoursome. The service by the staff was impeccable and on reflection I should a) have requested a disabled room and b) asked if there were any other cereals available. Overall the price of £100 just for the room and £8.95 extra for breakfast (each) was a bit too much. We were only staying one night so it was manageable but we won’t be staying again.
Cosy and comfy
Cosy rooms above a lovely pub restaurant. Rooms can be a bit small but easily manageable depending on which one you get. TV's though are very small so just used my laptop on sky go as the guest WiFi is quite good.
Friday night stay
We stayed in room 4, which was facing the road. It was noisy due to traffic. We didn’t sleep very well due to the sound of running water all night. We think it could be the men’s urinal as we were above that. There was a strong smell of cigarette smoke as you walk through the door to the bedrooms as the access was outside. The metal steps up to the rooms had ice and were considered a slip hazard because there wasn’t any salt put down. We don’t consider it value for money at £89 without breakfast. It was clean and the food was good.
Excellent service from everyone that we encountered. The room was perfect for all of our needs.
Marks on bed coverlet - harmless but did not create good impression. Plug missing from bathroom Otherwise fine for one-night stay. Restaurant dinner very good.
Needs Attention
The room was damp from the water ingress around the front door. The shower room was dusty and the shower was very slow. The reception was tiny, could only fit one person into it.
I found the shower difficult to control, found the water very hot despite doing everything to lessen the temperature. Broken slat on bedroom blind, also doorway into bathroom missing a door edge. A comfortable stay, would book again.
Good
Spectacular place, amazing food, clean room all what you need. All place made with love.
Friendly staff and great quiet location yet again brilliant room
Good value for money. Single bedroom blind needs option to tie up when window open. Enjoyed Italian meal outside in evening. Room quite small but provides all you need for short stay.
Very Nice
Great stay and excellent food. What more could you ask fore.
Well run good service weldone elm tree the breakfast was really great thank you
The burger and chips were amazing
Very nice staff and a clean efficient room
Good location, service and food
Stayed one night for work, staff really friendly and both evening meal and breakfast were very good. A little bit if road noise but if in the area would stay again.
Room 7 is very tired.
Unfortunately, I cannot explain the good reviews for the hotel. The bathroom smelled very, very badly of mould, and the room itself was a little cramped. The staff were kind and helpful, but the inn itself... not so good.
we had a lovely stay for one night
Helpful staff, nice restaurant. Stayed in room 4, nicely presented room with adequate on suite, a nice peaceful sleep and a good breakfast in the morning. Would definitely stay again 👍👍
Stay here a MUST
Beautiful in every way
Nice quiet area, good food and drink
Not Great !!
2 Bedside Lamps - Only 1 working Bulb. Clock in bedroom - battery stopped and marked 11. No curtains in Bedroom - Very modern wooden venetian blinds that although closed let in light from street and in the early hours of the morning. 15 INCH or Less TV on wall ( too small & too far way from bed) that had to be changed manually as Remote was worn with no letters/numbers and subsequently did not work. Music from downstairs bar could be heard in Bedroom until close. Food EXPENSIVE for what it is ! Not impressed for over £88 the night. Restaurant/Bar chairs all marked and stained. Ashtrays on tables outside - overflowing with cigarette butts and rubbish stuffed inside. Beware as although the property offers a Book Now Pay Later on arrival .. You are charged prior arrival and harrassed till you settle the bill for payment. They offer a Breakfast service BUT you have to decide what you want the night before and pay the night before as no one is there at Breakfast to take payment. This place needs some TLC and attention to detail ! Here it is all about the money and a very poor representation of a pleasant stay ! 0% Customer Service !! On a scale of 1 - 10 ? minus 10 !!!
Hotel Nice, Food was very good
It was a quaint English pub with rooms, as well as great restaurant. People were incredible.
Great place to stay
Very friendly staff and very comfortable room. Food was amazing.
Nice
Clean and comfy. One night stay and booked an hour before arrival
The room was small but very thoughtfully furnished with everything necessary. The breakfast was very good. The staff are extremely well trained and helpful. Good car park. Very good value for money.
Good place to stay
Really good room and really good breakfast. Would recommend.
The gem in the Fens
Elm Tree Inn was situated close to friends nearby who I was visiting. We had a meal in the restaurant and everyone enjoyed what we had. Would recommend if staying in Wisbech for visiting around the area.
Superb

Stuart’s Trip
Lovely place, friendly staff, great food 👌
A very nice place for a short break. Good food and pleasant staff
Great for quiet night and access to other areas.
Bedroom was comfortable. TV operation notes would be good. Breakfast, although extra was good and well prepared. The location is surprisingly quiet, and the Inn serves a limited but tasty menu.
Short break in the Fens
Perfect location for our short break. Whilst we understand things aren’t quite back to normal they did a pretty good job. Breakfast was paid for the night before, no menu on the first day, it was a full English with juice and a hot drink. The second day we were shown a handwritten menu, poached eggs were overdone and the toast was made with pappy white bread! The evening meal we had was excellent, however. The room was a good size, but we weren’t too keen on the wet room, water everywhere! Plenty of free parking available.
Good stay
Nice. Quiet with good foodand drink.
TV not big enough
TV not big enough
Nice room, terrible service
On arrival everything was locked up and I had to ring the proprietor to meet me. The room was clean and bed comfortable. When choosing a room I need a desk, this was unusable as the gap between the desk and bed was too narrow to allow the stool to be pulled out. As we are in lockdown and as expected the room isn't daily serviced, I was here for 4 nights and it was serviced twice. That's fine with me. However I ran out of tea and coffee, shower gel and shampoo after 2 nights and I had to buy my own. The TV was only in black and white and the aerial wire wrapped around the TV. The internet was unusable, constantly dropping due to a misconfigured Wifi repeater. The kettle was too small to fill from the sink and I had to fill with from a glass. I work away from home every other week and this is by far the worst week ever due to the TV and internet making evening tedious.
Very friendly staff and very clean .food excellent would return
Dissapointed
Only one problem I was given a desabled room which I did not request. This is discrimination against abel bodied people as hese rooms are not fit for purpose.
The Elm Tree Inn Nov 19
Not the cheapest for room only (no breakfast included). Stood in empty bar for 8 minutes waiting to see someone to book in despite it not being busy. Entered bedroom and it was like a sauna due to missing thermostatic valve on radiator so ended up with window open till the early hours. Desk at side of bed had someones half eaten snack on it - a bag of opened Doritos and salsa dip. Shower in the room was supposed to be controlled by a thermostaic valve but you ended up either freezing or being scalded as it was faulty. Overall I cannot recommend staying here until they get their act together.
Great food and staff
I stay here because the staff are very friendly and the food is excellent. The rooms are OK - double room I had was very spacious, however for a business user there is nowhere to really sit with a lap top. I have stayed here a few times when I need to work in wisbech.
Pleasant night
Nice room, good breakfast. Bar shut abruptly at ten.
Bathroom fat too small and dangerous
Bathroom in our view is far too small and the step into and out of is dangerous.
Will Return
I have stayed here before and return because of the staff and food. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and will always check queries out with a menu. The evening meals and fresh cooked breakfast are excellent. I may choose a different room when I visit again as I found working on my laptop a bit difficult and the shower area a bit small.
Nice
Nice hotel, comfortable, clean. Would stay again.
