I loved the hotel, however the room I was given was directly above the train station and the trains started kicking off at 0500ish, along with tooting their horns constantly. It was obvious I was there for work so I really needed a good night sleep and had I know that it would be so noisy, I definitely would have asked to change rooms. Prior to checking in, I had asked for a high floor room as I wanted to avoid being near the gym (I saw a review that the music from the gym is loud so I wanted to avoid that), but I was given a room on the 2nd floor. When I checked out, I did mention it and was asked if it was my first time there, to which I replied yes. The receptionist then said “well, next time do ask us for a room away from the train station otherwise we allocate them at random”. The hotel was absolutely not full, so why not just put me in a less noisy room in the first place?! They provide earplugs in the rooms but they do not work well at all (I actually have quite heavy duty ones I use to sleep and I could still hear through them). Whilst the hotel is lovely and the food was excellent (the scones downstairs were just so tasty!), I’m not sure I’d risk staying there again especially if there for work (the beds are also super bouncy and not very comfortable). Shame as everything else was really quite good!
Great
Good place, comfy, but no food options after 9
Great hotel, but no food options after 9 and no 24 hour/late night Bar.
This hotel was very nice, walkable to the city of cork and very modern. Lovely rooftop bar called Sophie’s on the top floor of the hotel. Staff were very friendly.
Great stay. Will definitely come back. Next time I will definitely use the record player in the room.
The staff are accommodating. The beds are very uncomfortable, this really impacted my stay. Record player in room, nice feature but didn’t work. Showers are great. No place to hang clothes or put away.
Loved my stay only hated they didn’t have on site parking you do have to walk from the train station parking
Could hear music from the bar or reception until late at night, but overall the property is clean and pleasant
Loved the Dean cork!
We loved our stay at Dean Cork. Great walkable location and everyone was friendly. Hotel itself was stunning!
Fun and Fabulous
Fun design and cozy room! Great mini bar and snacks. And restaurant bar, Sophie’s was fabulous!
A lovely and exquisite stay
A five-star stay which is totally out of my expectation. A spectacular boutique hotel with great decoration of artistic taste. Staff are super friendly and helpful as well.
Love this hotel
One of my new favorites!
What a fun boutique hotel! The vibe is fun, quirky, and cozy all in one. I loved everything about this hotel.
We had a lovely stay here at the start of October '24 - the hotel has got a young, modern, industrial vibe throughout. There are definitely Pros and Cons with this hotel - but Pros absolutely outweigh the Cons:- Pros: 1.The staff are so lovely, welcoming, attentive and professional - they're just fantastic. 2.The location of the hotel is pretty good for the city centre. 3.The rooms are decent size and are clean and modern. 4.The beds are unbelievably comfortable. 5.The food in the restaurant is excellent quality, delicious and decent sized portions. 6.The showers in the en-suite have got really decent pressure and nice toiletries 7. Sophie's Restaurant has a lovely covered terrace, with a great views to the Port of Cork and the rest of the city. Cons: 1.No wardrobes in the bedrooms - but coat hooks and hangers, are provided. 2.No room safes - so you have to leave all of your valuables in your locked luggage or you have to carry them with you - not ideal for a long stay. 3.Breakfast choices (for us) were a little bit limited - there are about 16 predefined choices, which were all cooked to order(they were delicious). However, individuals items such as toast and other cooked items(sausages, hash browns etc) didn't appear to be available unless they were part of one of the predefined choices. This may not have been the case but it didn't seem like we could just order 'off menu'. 4.The weekends are busy and noisy - not great if you want to chill and relax at the weekend.
‘The Dean’ is an unusual hotel. I think it’s a hotel. There are bedrooms and showers but it doesn’t call itself a hotel. It’s more a concept, I guess, possibly designed by AI. The building itself looks like a misshapen lump of coal. The reception area borrows from high street retail with elements of a leisure centre. The reception desk is like the merchandise stand at a concert. The decor throughout is dark with lots of geometric patterns. Don’t go if you’re susceptible to migraines. Our bedroom seemed to be aiming to copy the inside of a metal shipping container. Except it wasn’t rectangular. There was a triangular desk to fit into it. If the designer was aiming for quirkiness in the room he/she/AI got it. There was a record turntable and 2 strange LPs (charity shop I’d guess) on the desk so no room to use it as an actual desk. But the range of purchasable stuff in the room was amazing: bathrobes and about 40 items of food / drink. And there was a free condom!! No wardrobe though and only one chair to sit and consume all the goodies. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. The staff were all super friendly and helpful.
Really nice hotel
Gorgeous but flawed
Let me start with the Dean is gorgeous and has amazingly high-end finishes and amenities. You will want to enjoy the pool, sauna and steam room - take your bathing suits, such a great way to start/finish your days. We stayed 2 night in Cork, popped over to Galway for 2 nights and returned to the The Dean for our final night in Cork so we had 2 different rooms. Our first room was absolutely tiny and while the designers thought of everything from a turntable with records to a Nespresso machine, they clearly did not think of a place to put your suitcase or your clothes, other than the 5 pegs of the coat rack. No closet is tough. We were also on the west side of the building literally above the train station. I am not kidding when I say you can hear the announcements from the station, they start at 6:00am. We almost requested to switch rooms but we knew we wouldn't be spending much time in the room except to sleep. They provide earplugs but with the window open for ventilation, they did very little to block the noise. Our second room for our final night was larger which was great but still on the west side and still very loud with train noise. Currently there is a beautiful view from Sophie's (the bar/restaurant) deck but it won't be there for long since a large building under construction will block it. The west side location of the hotel is also a little far esp. if visiting your daughter at UC Cork all the way across town.
Friendly staff. Love the location
Still at the early stage of redevelopment of the area. Parking not yet open, and the ones around are not easy to find and to get to.
This is the third time I’m leaving a review, but apparently Expedia doesn’t want me to rate this property badly so it keeps taking me round and round and round. Don’t book here!
overall a very good experience
Great hotel, very modern. Restaurant Sophie's has great food, room service was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had a car, so there is paid parking at the train station, however depending on the time you arrive there may be very limited parking, but it was definitely a better option than trying to stay in central Cork, it was all very central and you could easily walk to things. Would go back to this hotel if I am ever back in Cork!
No hotel parking. Very limited parking close by. Could not drive anywhere because we did not want to loose the space we had
Great Service great room
Unbelievable hotel, likely one of the best hotel amenities I have ever stayed.
Finding a park or place to Checkin was very difficult and created significant stress - finally had to illegally park in front of hotel to be told we had to circumnavigate the route again to get parking in the rail station car park - whole experience terrible and they don’t post any tips for guests Otherwise hotel nice but on the train line so noises from 6.30am Good beds and room was great Guy on reception very nice but clearly gets grief over parking and no one to help with bags if you needed it Overall good hotel but if you are driving ring first for directions
The property is within easy access to the railway station and to down-town activities.
Great, hip property. Rooms are small, but well thought out. Walkable to restaurants. Parking not available onsite, but easy solution at the train station next door for us. Depending on time of arrival, parking is probably the hardest thing to navigate.
Nice hotel. Let down mainly by the poor restaurant Sophie’s.
The hotel itself was great. A great visual asthetic and the amenties were top notch. However, we were put in a room next to the room where the hotel hosts wedding receptions and it was incredibly loud. Although it appeared that there was a buffer area, it did absolutely nothing. It felt like being outside a nightclub until midnight. For the next hour, we could hear the staff vacuuming and cleaning, even while wearing ear plugs. We called the front desk at 11:20 pm about the noise level and were told it would be finished in 10 minutes, it was not. We brought it up again at check out and were offered a sorry. A disappointing experience especially paying $400 CDN to not have a restful night.
Excellent staff. Wish breakfast was included - I had thought it was when I booked but the coffee van outside the door was nice. Terrific gym - well equipped and nice staff. A small hike to city centre but close to lots of great pubs etc. Hike was not too much. Loved how close The Dean Cork was to the train station...super convenient. Would stay there again happily.
The hotel is beautiful and so is the rooftop terrace in the restaurant. The place has a really cool vibe and the rooms are very well decorated and clean. My room backed onto the train station which was very loud. The staff at breakfast really let the experience down, with me asking 3 different people for a coffee and 2 different people for the bill. I would have overlooked it had it of been busy, but the restaurant was nearly empty. It wouldn’t put me off staying again but something I would factor in if I was short on time in the morning.
Lovely clean hotel, instantly feel relaxed when you walk through the door. Great facilities, huge shower and the pool and sauna/steam is easy to book and a great little place. Nice touch to have a little cocktail by the pool. Its also very easy to get around, with the train station right behind and within walking distance of all the bars and restaurants. We had no trouble with noise and slept soundly on the nice soft bed.
Beautiful hotel. All was great, other than the train station right next to it made it a little noisy for sleeping
The Dean Cork was such a special stop off on our family trip to Ireland and we loved it here. The bar and bar staff were EXCEPTIONAL, best whisky sour I've ever had, in my life! The rooms were beautifully decorated, comfy, cool and chic offering a quiet safe haven to rest our heads at night. The restaurant was lovely, with views of the city area and the food and drinks were delicious. The staff at the restaurant was also amazing. The gym, pool and sauna areas were the piece de resistance and truly completed our wonderful stay, having a place to lounge and hang out was lovely and the merch was cozy and well made, I love my The Dean hoodie. This hotel was everything and more and we honestly can't wait to come back. Thank you!!!
Couples Weekend.
Stayed 2 nights for my wife's birthday, great location close to Cork city centre, rooms were lovely, food was great. Overall had a great weekend, will definitely stay again.
10/10 highly recommended. Very modern, chic, and stylish hotel. Gym, sauna, heated pool, snacks, robes. Really checks off the vibes. Extremely clean, lovely restrooms, comfy beds. Location is great. 6 minutes walk away from the main Cork train station and 6 minutes walk to the aircoach bus stop. If I had to fault, there was some noise but never too inconvenient or bothersome. Overall would absolutely stay here again!
The Dean was a last minute change to a previous booking and a superb surprise. A friendly and welcoming vibe from the staff, excellent accommodations and a safe and excellent location. Thank you for making our first trip to Cork so memorable.
The property was well located and convenient to the train station.
Lovely hotel
The hotel was very nice! Clean modern feel from the lobby to the hotel rooms! The showers were incredible! Staff was helpful and friendly. Great location in the city east to walk to everything and right next to the metro! Rooftop bar was great for the brunch we did and drinks were very tasty! Would recommend this hotel to those traveling!
Excellent Hotel
Amazing, very nice hotel. Stayed the night for the Boss
This was a perfect getaway, the attention to detail in the room was perfect, we will be back!
Noisy and misinformed about trains
Noisy room next to the railway line. Were told no trains after 11 or before 7, when we complained about the room. This was not true first train was at 5:40 and you would have thought it was in the room. The bed was also noisy and creaked loudly with every movement. We did complain but there were no other suitable rooms.
Great hotel - very clean, lovely spa, perfect for a weekend.
Nice stay
It was good.
Great location and facilities
We were nervous about the parking but it’s so close. Maybe one minute walk, it was not a problem or inconvenience at all. We absolutely loved this hotel. The rooms were perfectly clean. The staff was so friendly and helpful. I hope we get to stay here again.
The music at night when checking in was waaaayyy too loud. Almost considered canceling our reservation. Felt very club ish rather than hotel feeling. The hotel is beautiful and clean. Music ruins it. Couldn’t even hear front desk staff trying to talk to us.
Nice trendy hotel
Fantastic stylish hotel in centre of Cork
Absolutely amazing hotel with beautiful decor, we were very impressed with very unique room style. Service was amazing, roof top bar had an amazing atmosphere. The only thing is that the hotel mentioned that the pool was adult friendly but there were kids in there.
SUPER SMALL ROOM! I had to scoot to the end of the bed to stand up…14” between bed and wall. Great area and parking is next door at the train station and costs €9,50 for 24 hours. The restaurant is very trendy and dinner for 2 with 2 cocktails came to €105.
Really great staff at the hotel and restaurant. Everyone was friendly, helpful and made us feel welcome.
All very convenient and comfortable.
The not so quiet place
This place is not for quiet stays! The staff was friendly, the place was clean and well kept, the decor fun, but it's not quiet. Its next door to the train station. Wasn't bad last whistle blew around 10pm. And the morning I didn't hear much from it. The noise comes from the gym attached. I was on the first floor and the gym was on the ground floor. You could hear in the room and corridor the music being played from the gym class. I called and said last class ends at 8pm. At 8:45am they were back at it. If they put you on the first floor, get a copy of the class schedule so you know when to expect loud music in your room. I like a quiet place to sleep in, this is not it. They do give you free earplugs on the night stand if it's any consultation.
.
A great hotel
A great one night stay in a modern hotel. Close to the city centre and next door to the railway station. Buses from the airport stop only 1 minute away on the same road.
Parking in a nearby lot which is walkable and reasonably priced. Excellent hotel with excellent amenities especially the gym, coffee shop and bar. shower was amazing. Staff is helpful. there is a train station on one side of the building, if you are a light sleeper consider the opposite side. Would definitely recommend staying here. The decor of the rooms with record player is pretty cool.
Funky industrial interior - nice rooms and great shower Music in reception was very loud on Saturday night - could be heard in our room on 4th floor so had to sleep with earplugs!
Fun and up beat vibe. Music in reception was a bit loud on the weekend, but the place was good fun.
I did not expect the noise level from the train. I think if if you have to offer ear plugs then the noise level should be disclosed when making reservation. I would not have booked there if I had known this.
Cork Trip to see The Boss 😃😃😃
Absolutely loved The Dean Hotel 🏨 its The GOAT 👍👍👍
Beautiful hotel - but a noisy train station
The hotel itself is really fabulous, the décor and overall experience is lovely. The room décor is really lovely. We had cocktail’s and drinks in the bar and the service and ambiance is second to none. However, we had a room overlooking the railway station on the fourth floor. To say we might as well have slept in a train station – is not an exaggeration. From about 8am trains were coming and going non stop – blowing whistles. Even with ear plugs we could hear the announcements from the train station, the trains arriving and departing – it was terrible. I cannot believe that we were not advised on booking that we would be given a room overlooking a noisy train station, we were not told about it and not given an option to have a room facing away from the train station. Such a lovely hotel, but for the price I would never have expected to be sleeping in a train station.
All good
Don’t stay if you’ve food allergies
Poor. Booked as a birthday gift for my parents to go see Bruce Springsteen. Informed staff in advance that my father is a coeliac and the only gluten free beer they had was peroni, the only food option given to them before they left for the concert and again after the concert was a pizza which took 45 minutes. The train station was very loud and woke them as the trains left at 6.20 and 8 am respectively on Thursday morning. The hotel tried to charg me twice for the stay which resulted in me having to call them during my work shift to ensure that it was sorted before reception staff went home for the evening. However the room was very clean and the staff who were working that evening were otherwise very friendly and attentive.
2 days in cork
Nice hotel close to train station nice downstairs bar and rooftop restaurant
Staff is great!
Ian was amazing! He went above and beyond during our stay. Amazing amenities! Sauna, steam room, indoor pool. Trendy rooms, stylishly decorated
This is a modern place to stay in Cork that was very clean and comfortable. We stayed because it is right next to the train station and easy for us to walk with our luggage to catch our train to Dublin. When we got there it was tricky to park as they don’t offer any parking but we parked at the train station next door but you have to pay. I would definitely stay again.
Our room faced directly onto the train station and could hear every single thing constantly even with the window closed. Very difficult to sleep and woken up early on the morning around 5am with the sound of the trains every hour. However that’s not the hotels fault, just avoid room 324 as this was our room.
The common areas of the hotel were amazing and the personnel was really nice.
Beautifully decorated hotel with lovely staff. Highly recommended and great value for money, should you use the facilities.
Clean. Friendly staff.
Targets a young clientele looking more for vibe than for function. Rooms are very stylish but focus on superficial details (old-school turntable, radio, and telephone) rather than common provisions (there were no tissues, storage space, luggage rack, or safe). There were more items in the minibar than I've ever seen (justifying the 100 EUR deposit) but no room for your own things in the refrigerator. There was a large mirror in the shower, but lukewarm water. The bathrobe was too small to wear. The blackout curtains were too short and let in strong light in the morning. There were few TV channels, and the internet often went out. The bed was lumpy and creaked with every move. The long hallway was dark and reminded me of the Shinning. The hotel felt empty and yet was placed in a room just above the train tracks - neither private nor quiet. All in all, an odd experience in a place succeeding to be hip but definitely not for everyone.
Great staff and facilities.
The staff were friendly and welcoming - particularly the gym staff! The room was perfect and the gym facilities were unbelievable. I'd definitely like to stay again.
Another great visit.
Great rooms and staff very helpful. Breakfast could be better with more choices.
Late check-in and early check-out
Fabulous stay, however the check-in time is 4pm which is very late and check-out is 11am. Would’ve been nice to check-out at 12 as many other hotels do.
Good choice in Cork.
Lovely hotel to stay in. Very comfortable bed, and spacious bathroom. All was spotless. Restaurant on top floor was good, but if you just want to grab a coffee / pastry or smoothie in the morning they are available in the lobby or from the van outside. walking distance from the city, so very convenient. Only down side was the train station just next door, which made it quite loud at times, even during the night.
Great hotel
Lovely quirky hotel with loads of character
A must stay when in Cork
Great Experience overall, everything top quality, great service, very clean, friendly staff, they go above and beyond to facilitate requests and needs, definitely will go out of my way to stay there again.
Night away
A nice night away, enjoyed the pool and the food and cocktails
we loved our stay at the dean and will be sure to return very soon. great, helpful staff and our room was lovely
Cool and Funky
Lovely stay for Valentines , it’s a funky hotel and staff are friendly and and lovely dinner
Perfect
Form over function.
First, the good things. The food was good and the hotel is finished well. However, the rooms are a bit too minimalist for the price that is being charged. I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights but had no wardrobe to store my clothes. Hooks and 2 (yes, just 2) hangers are provided but are not sufficient. The room does have a record player, which is quirky but not practical. I had a problem with the shower where the water built up in the tray quite quickly. I'm not sure if that was purely down to the design of the drain (in the shower) or not.
Best in Cork..Best in class.Wont dissapoint.
Amazing, contemporary exiting hotel. rooftop bar and resturant with vistas over cork city ,Why stay anywhere else?
Absolutely loved The Dean Cork!
The Dean Cork was the best hotel we stayed at in Ireland. I want to book another trip just to stay here again, it was a really great experience. Their mini bar includes an incredible assortment of snacks, drinks (alcoholic and nonalcoholic), and even mini deodorants, among other things. The space was really clean, cozy, and had a record player and records that I really enjoyed listening to. My friend and I were obsessed with our rooms (we stayed in separate rooms, hers was as equally clean and excellent) and wished we could have stayed longer.
Rooms at the back of the hotel back onto the railway station with locomotive noises. Moved to 4th floor but couldn’t sleep until after midnight due to sound coming through ceiling from a function on 5th floor. No cupboard or drawers in room so nowhere to put your clothes. No safe for valuables. You do get a record player with records. No security to prevent people who are not staying at hotel from accessing all floors with rooms. Sent a meal back to reheat in Sophie’s restaurant. Very Nice staff. But rooms and building is all style over substance.
Really funky hotel
Great hotel in a really good location. Loved all the extras!
The people were great! Thank you
Beautiful hotel...shame about the train noise
Beautiful hotel.. room and staff were great.....but...our room was located looking onto the trqin station with trains passing every 20-30 mins with a lot of noise. No car park on premises so we had to park and roll our suitcase about 15mins through the city which is not ideal.
Great stay would recommend despite noise issue.
A great hotel. Staff very welcoming, helpful, a very clean, stylish, comfort hotel and brilliant food in Sophie's restaurant. The only issue was the noise outside the window from the rain. It dripped all night on the window frame and was so nosie i recorded it for the front desk. A design faul but needs to be sorted for a night sleep.
Excellent stay
It was an excellent stay. Pool and gym is fantastic. Water in the shower took ages to heat up and didn't get very hot in our room. Quilt on the bed was too light for my liking and I woke cold a few times during the night. Cocktails were fab. Overall very nice break away.
Put in room duirectly in fron of train station and was treated to train horns and clanging all night. Next upnwas the techo at the gym on volume 11 at 8am. Was told there w a s no other rooms... not worth a penny
Gem of a hotel
The Dean is an absolutely wonderful hotel. Staff were excellent and helpful. Great suggestions for local bars. The room was so quirky and very comfortable. It was such a great stay. Great value for money.
Super!
Amazing first time stay at The Dean, loved it! The room is just so cool, love the old record player and albums, great idea! I was quite happy to come back to my room after a fabulous evening meal and enjoy the chill out feeling.
What a pleasant surprise this hotel was!
Such a nice beautiful property, amazing rooftop restaurant, amazing gym pool sauna everything and employees were very friendly....i highly recommemd!
Stylish City Hotel with plenty of casualness
The room was realy nice. However, the noise from the train station is bothersome. We ate twice at Sophie‘s . The food was well done, the services nice, but the music (if the disco beat is considered that) was far too loud and hence a nuisance.
So amazing staff so helpful

Excellent
Excellent location Great Restaurant Excellent gym and pool facilities Friendly staff Comfortable modern clean rooms Only con is that there is no wardrobe space in standard rooms and it may be noisy if you have a room facing the train station with early morning trains etc.
