A charming pub in a pretty Norfolk village.
This was our third stay at the Dabbling Duck, always enjoyable. Very good food, service and a lovely pub and setting.
Lovely place in a beautiful setting
We would love to stay again, really enjoyed it. Room was comfortable, dinner & breakfast both relaxed and beautifully cooked. Dog freindly, so was great for us. The space is understandibly put aside mostly for diners with tables set up, but the bar area could really do with being larger and more comfy seating. Posh, obnoxious kids took over in the bar which was annoying, but that is not the establishments fault.
Lovely village, comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Perfect pleasure
We loved the vibe and all the quirks that make this a lovely place to stay
Super stay as always. Staff very helpful and cant do enough.
Stunning looking building and a stunning location. Most of the staff are great, helpful and friendly apart from one man (who seated and served breakfast in the morning) looked fed up and borderline rude. Apart from that, it was a lovely stay.
The best!
Such friendly staff

Really clean, comfortable room. Nice soaps, tea, coffees and complimentary vodka! Evening meal was delicious, steak cooked perfectly. Breakfast equally great. 10 out of 10
Lovely atmosphere, food excellent and staff very welcoming snd helpful would recommend to anyone in the area
Very welcoming, quirky and unique decor ...Great! Would we stay again, definitely!!!
What a fantastic location!
Great stay in Norfolk
Great location for visiting north Norfolk. Lovely village and walks from the pub. Food good quality in pub in the evening, as was included breakfast
The Dabbling Duck exceeded our expectations in all respects. We were shown into our beautiful room in the house adjacent to the inn. The room was spacious and comfortable with a large sofa as well as king size bed. Our en suite bathroom was bigger than many hotel rooms we have stayed in and far more luxuriously appointed. Dinner in the inn was great - excellent service and good choices and breakfast also first class. The location was good for visiting nearby National Trust and English Heritage places as well as the North Norfolk coast.
The room was smaller than we've had before but it was lovely all the same. Breakfast is always worth looking forward to...
Excellent pub with excellent food, lovely rooms. Carpet in the hall up to room very dirty and cleaner said she could not scrub it, because of what it was made of. I thought a bit impractical if that was the case. The rest of the place was spotless. The food was excellent. Area and atmosphere great. I would definitely return.
I was already familiar with the excellent food on offer at this pub, and it was a pleasure to finally stay for a night too.
Lovely
Very nice room in Barrack House. We did struggle with an internet reception to begin with but we did sort it out in the end. Breakfast was just delicious and plentiful..
Staff were super helpful and accommodating, food both in the restaurant, and the outside pizza kitchen/barn were excellent. Room clean and facilities good, proper coffee in the room, big tick!!!!!! Really enjoyable trip, loved it, over too quickly!!!
Lovely little 'hidden' gem
Very friendly welcome, given a quick tour of the property, then shown to our room which was a lovely double with a view across the Green to the church. Small bottle of Homemade vodka was a nice touch and a pleasant nightcap. We had breakfast and an evening meal there, both excellent. There is also an outdoor wood fired pizza option at weekends, which also was excellent. We had a lovely stay. The village is pretty and you are only 20-30 mins from the coast and several other local attractions. We would highly recommend.
Everything we needed. They need fly deterrent in the restaurant. Iovely food and hospitality.
great place to stay
a wonderfull pub full off live great place to stay in a beautiful village need to sort out the fles
The location, atmosphere in the pub, staff friendliness and service was wonderful. Our room was a bit tight (family room only one left so booked so that we could each have a bed) with no room for baggage but realise to squeeze a double and single into a room in an old building would always be a challenge. Breakfast was delicious (although would love a muesli or granola that wasn't so sweet) when it came but a huge wait. Evening meal was delicious. Would definitely stay again though if passing through.
Beautiful little picture perfect village, a lovely find.
Nice village , lovely food good base to explore Norfolk .
Very enjoyable
Lovely pub.Very friendly staff.dining excellent, breakfast options very good.
Dabbling duck stay
Excellent from beginning to end. Lovely location and pretty village. Team without exception friendly and helpful throughout. Food good both evening meal and breakfast. Also good choice of drinks. Room good well decorated clean and comfortable. We're in room 1 and probably would benefit from black out curtains although likely less of an issue most of summer so far!! Other than curtains nothing to fault would definitely stay there again and recommend.
Excellent place to stay
Great place to stay. The room was very comfortable. The food - both evening meal and breakfast - was excellent. Perfect
It was so lovely.
Always fantastic, every time
Excellent friendly service, food / wine were delicious. All staff most obliging. Our only negative was our room did have a musty / stale smell, we left the windows open to compensate and reasonably clean.
Great location for Sandringham and walks. Friendly staff, food excellent both Breakfast and Evening meal. Would recommend.
Will definitely come back.
This place is a top find. Welcome was first class, room was beautifully presented and lovely extra touches. Home made vodka and Molten Brown toiletries. We were booked in for dinner but after sitting in the garden and enjoying the early evening sun we opted for pizza in the barn. Delicious pizzas and good vibe. We didn’t have breakfast but went on a wonderful circular walk, followed by coffee in the bar before we made our way home.
Nice stay
Enjoyed the Dabbling Duck and the staff were lovely, but rushed off their feet Room 7 Garden Room was ok but too close to people sitting outside in the beer garden. Bedroom was lovely and reasonably clean but on closer inspection you can see it needs a deep clean of the doors & skirting boards/ floors. Would still stay again as it wasn’t a deal breaker and great food.
Lovely pub with great food. We stayed in one of the annex rooms which was perfectly nice. A great eve
Five star stay!!
Just spent 3 wonderful days at this gem in Norfolk countryside. So much attention to detail with meal taste and presentation, rooms tastefully equipped (along with complimentary nightcap!!) and most welcoming, friendly and efficient staff. Just wish we were here for summer with pizza nights on a Friday and Saturday held in a very tastefully rustic barn and beer garden. We can thoroughly recommend this wonderful quiet location!
Splendid meal, lovely room
Good place for food lovers.
Good accomodation and excellent food. Building is an older one which has been extended - so some steep stairs to rooms.
Very nice dog friendly B&B. Staff friendly and food good.
Amazing food
Our suite was amazing, we even had a little sitting room! The only problem was the bed was too hard & no light available to put my makeup on. Needed a large mirror above the dressing table as well as the magnifying mirror please. The chef was amazing and cooked especially for my food allergies which was wonderful. The table service was faultless, I had such high praise for them all. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Amazing place to stay & eat
Such an amazing place to stay and so pet friendly The pub has such a good vibe & always buzzing - staff are so friendly & the food is lovely
Excellent weekend break.
Excellent stay at the Dabbling Duck. Friendly, welcoming staff, great food and service. Comfortable room and a lovely location. Our second stay and we will be back again for sure.
Great Stay
Amazing place to stay! Will be back
Lovely welcoming last minute break
Really lovely room, complimentary gin which was a nice surprise and an amazing breakfast.
What a fantastic, warm, welcoming pub/restaurant/hotel. Lovely building, well maintained and in great condition. Staff were most welcoming and warm. Restaurant had a variety of different offerings, using locally sourced meats and ingredients. Absolutely loved this place
beautiful quirky up market find … so much personality , we had the best time …
Traditional decor and feel
Full of character, staff helpfull and good food. Very relaxed atmosphere
The rooms are lovely!
Was lovely as always.
Fantastic service and a unique hotel and restaurant.
Fabulous stay. Lovely comfortable rooms. Jennifer the receptionist and our waitress at dinner were both exceptional. Looking forward to staying here again
Homely Retreat
The Dabbling Duck is an excellent place to stay. The staff are extremely helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of choice.
Great location and restaurant menu. Stairs up to rooms might be a bit steep for less able bodied patrons.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and the dogs were catered for with their own beds, bowls and treats in the room. We are looking forward to our next visit.
Delicious Dabbling Duck
The Dabbling Duck was excellent throughout and the staff are so friendly and although very busy they always found time to talk with guests. It’s obvious there are good chefs here as the quality of food is very good. I would recommend the garden rooms - the only problem we had was a shower head that was loose and leaking causing water pooling in bathroom which didn’t unduly affect our stay - Steve and Sandra Gregory
A great country pub with a warm welcome and lovely rooms
Another comfy stay at the Dabbling Duck
We have stayed before, this time we stayed in room 7, Pigeon, which is an outside room. We stayed two nights, we found the staff very friendly as always, and the food was great quality. We had breakfast both mornings, lunch one day and dinner the other. Room was comfy and clean, with a very nice big bathroom. The only thing we were disappointed at was the reduction in sofas and relaxing areas near the bar since our last visit, which has been turned over to dining. Totally understand this, it's a business after all! But reduces/eliminates comfy space for residents to relax. There are some in the Barn, but that was in use for a private function Saturday night.
Breakaway
Lovely stay, comfy room, excellent breakfast only missing some Danish pastries.
This is our fourth stay over several years and we feel that the decor is ready for refreshing.
Everything was spot on. Couple of very minor issues with the room on check in, both resolved speedily with the team being so very attentive, which was so refreshing that they cared and took personal responsibility. Food was very good as was service. Frankly couldn't really fault it and a very attractive village location rounding off the whole experience very favourably.
Lovely remote village & beautiful place to stay!
Such a stunning room and little village. Staff were lovely and food was delicious. Had the best time!
Lovely place but needs a little TLC
Lovely quaint b&b! Breakfast was lovely too. My only gripes would be that the TV in our room didn't work. I did ask reception for some batteries for the remote as the TV had no buttons to operate manually but never received them. There was also a lack of plug points and mirror in the room which made getting ready for a wedding a little tricky. I'm not sure it's worth the price tag we paid.
Superb place to stay
Brilliant place, atmosphere is just great, comfy yet elegant, we had a triple room and although not the biggest it was absolutely comfortable, perfect in every aspect. Staff are always helpful and seem genuinely happy to serve you. Pub is just beautiful, and the barn at the back if pub is full is a great option
Really lovely rooms and great food at the restaurant
Stylish accommodation, lovely pub and great food
Excellent food and character Step stairs to accommodation
Beautiful cottage in a stunning village, very near the coast and Castle Acre. Great food and excellent hosts
Loved the communal areas and upstairs lounge by our family bedroom which we used a lot over our two night stay. Our room was perfectly pleasant and the large bath tub and power shower were great.
Or dog loving people
It was perfect brilliant location ideal for our dog ,the staff was very friendly highly recommend we will be going back very soon Lesley and john
Evening away
Enjoyed the stay. Well maintained establishment. The rooms was clean and comfortable. Friendly staff.
OK stay
We booked this hotel as it was dog friendly and we were visiting friends and family to celebrate my 50th Birthday. Room 7 is out in the beer garden with people walking past constantly thankfully it was a wet night so not too much noise however I am sure on a pleasant evening the noise levels would be a lot higher so if you are looking for an early night maybe have a room in the hotel. The staff need to remember that their voices travel when they are clearing away after midnight. The room was generally clean but with quite a few cobwebs on the ceiling and in the window frame. The lighting does need addressing as it is impossible to apply make-up in the bathroom mirror as the light is so dim, the lighting in the bedroom is not much better. We ate in the restaurant for my birthday but very limited menu I struggled (no steak) so I chose the burger and chips this was very dry & burnt very disappointing I did state this to the waitress but no comments were offered just my full plate taken back to the kitchen. We enjoyed walking the dog up to the pond each day.
Friendly and accommodating staff, lovely room and a fab breakfast, and evening meal ..
dabbling in norfolk
lovely setting and good sized room and bathroom. Stairs to to bedrooms a bit steep. very popular in the evening, food well presented and very good. Breakfast made to order and excellent. lots to see in the area, try Castle Acre.
A great stay. Staff were excellent and attentive. The whole place had an excellent atmosphere and the food was excellent. Couldn't fault our stay, a perfect relaxing getaway.
Very cosy, traditionally English b&b with a slightly modern, duck-themed twist
Fabulaous
We really enjoyed our stay at the Dabbling Duck. We had a lovely room and the restaurant was excellent, (advisable to book as it was very busy). Best of all, however, are the people who work here, they are brilliant!
Excellent. Can’t fault anything with this establishment.
Cafetière in the room, nice decor, lovely toiletries. Pub/ restaurant was cosy and welcoming. Great breakfast. Looking forward to next visit for wood fired pizza and street food from the barn.
Dabbling duck
Charming garden room in lovely village
Short break
Food good, room clean ,large bed. Disappointing Room was small, with only one chair Admin at book in ,and final settling up was a bit of a hassle, but sorted satisfactorily
Fantastic place to stay
Fantastic!! Food, service, cleanliness, village all 1st class. Will definitely be returning x
The building, quaint rooms, furnishings were very much to our liking.Food was excellent Thank you chef. . Room was comfortable and pleasant although the lovely large bathroom was lacking hand towel hook, loo roll holder and bath hand rail( other guests guest may need this facility.) The initial Welcome was terrible , in fact you could'nt call it a Welcome. We felt like going home. The member of staff who did show us to our room later was friendly. Check in system not smooth staff seem very unsure and panicked. Not sure if any eating areas are Non Dog .....On reflection we should have asked . We do not appreciated Dog presence while eating.
Great village location. Pretty pub. Good food and wine. Rooms lovely. Love the honesty homemade flavoured vodka thought.
This was a great find. The rooms were lovely - nicely prepared, great colour scheme & lots of attention to detail - particularly liked the free vodka.........! Breakfast was first class - great local produce, prepared with care & served with a smile. Dinner was a revelation - the crispy beef starter was as good as anything I've eaten in Hong Kong, the cajun fish was cooked to perfection and came on an amazing fresh salad, the butchers sausages were flavoursome and the Malt Teaser made us smile at both the presentation & taste. We were directed towards a stunning wine from the Lebanon - the sommelier was so confident in the product that he offered not to charge if we didn't like it - but we did. And finally, from our window seat we could watch the ducks walking in straight lines from one pond to the next - magical!
It offered everything from a brilliant breakfast to morning coffee, then we could have had food throughout the day. They were very helpful and friendly. It was a very popular pub but it was so quiet at night after it closed so we had great sleeps. The village itself is beautiful and the pub is very quirky. Good parking facilities- excellent value for money,
Dabbling Duck Divine!
Had a great time! It really was a fabulous place to stay , great food and service plus good walking!
My flying visit
Amazing. Loved the host and his wife, Breakfast was the best I have ever had in a hotel. Dinner also very good. Loved the décor. Will try and get back there. really loved it.
Lovely village pub, attentive, knowlegeable staff, and great food. A must.
Great place to stay
Great stay and amazing food! We enjoyed dinner and breakfast, both truly delicious! Only negatives a bit more attention to cleanliness in bedroom... lamp and light fittings and a new stairs carpet ... soon ! Staff lovely and nothing too much trouble
Lovely pub/restaurant/hotel. Rooms are well prepared, although view from room 3 to the back of the hotel isn’t great. Lovely village green with duck pond, church & village store. We arrived shortly after 3pm in Sunday when all the staff were very busy and no one on reception, we eventually found a nice lady to show us to our room. Room was just about big enough fo my husband, son and me and very clean (apart from some towels which had grubby marks which had survived the wash!). Overall, a lively pub with lots of atmosphere and a great stay.
Nice Pub
Interesting area. Lovely setting. Looking forward to exploring.
Nice pub
The food was excellent. The staff very helpful and friendly especially towards our dog. The room was comfortable.
Lovely small local hotel in a very pretty village.
Stayed for one night as was walking the Peddars Way. For anybody who is walking this route the Dabbling Duck is about 3/4 mile off route but worth the extra walk. Enjoyed a lovely meal which was reasonably priced for the area. The only small thing is that we had bedroom 3 and you can hear the air conditioner coming from the kitchen which was not a problem as this was turned down at a very reasonable time. This was not quite turned off however but did not really interfere with my sleep but I am a heavy sleeper. The breakfast was amazing such a choice and good quality as was all the food.
Short Break
Really enjoyable stay at delightful pub with wonderful food and hospitality.
Lovely pub.
We really enjoyed the location of the pub on a lovely village green with two duck ponds, lovely to walk around after a delicious meal. Nice beer garden to whole away the evenings. The room was beautiful and the beds were super comfy, bathroom clean and had an amazing shower. Only one problem and it's a biggy...the room faced the back of the pub and the window overlooked the kitchen roof, this housed an enormous extractor fan which was switched on at 07.30 for breakfast, we them left for the day, it was still on when we returned late afternoon, and didn't get switched off until 10.30pm. If everything then went silent it would have been manageable, however the extractor fan noise was replaced by the noise of a fridge (or similar) which continued all night! We tried to sleep with the window shut but it was too hot so we had two sleepless nights, which ruined the stay. If you make sure your room is at the front of the pub you will have an amazing stay as it was such a lovely place and the staff were very friendly, they tried to help us but couldn't.
Quaint village
Excellent room. Very clean and homely. Good shower with lovely molten brown products. Room is relatively small but more than sufficient space and cosy. Dabbling duck restaurant is also very handy to have downstairs. Our room was in the main house. There are two other rooms outside as well. Good menu and quality cuisine. Breakfast was delicious with top quality ingredients and good chef. We came in for breakfast close to 10am when they were shutting but we didn't feel rushed at all. Nice ambience and bar at the lobby was lively and cosy. Recommend highly.
Lovely
A lovely little place, with a lot of heart. Nice touch with a strawberry vodka to try in the room. Very dog friendly place and we could even bring the dog with us to dinner. Food was amazing with a lot of thought having gone in to the cooking and ingredients. Breakfast was equally good. Very friendly staff and a pub dog! We will definitely visit again and have recommended it to our friends.
Absolutely excellent would definitely go again
Superb place. Plenty of nooks and crannies to hide in if you just want to chill with a drink. In contrast a very warm welcoming area near the bar if you want to have a chat. Loads of books and other interesting things to peruse. Food was absolutely excellent. The menu is limited but I liked that as made me choose quicker. Owner made a point of saying hello too.
