The apartment was very clean and cozy andnthere was an amazing view from the window

Frightening

The hotel itself was passable, however we couldn’t sleep at night due to what sounded like a brawl downstairs. Someone tried our door, there was blood on the walls outside in the morning and broken glass. The shower was caked in limescale so didn’t work very well. Due to the fight we were afraid to leave our room so couldn’t go to the toilet in the night.

Very friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. Cute room. Quiet and comfortable for our needs. Close to restaurants and attractions.

One of the best of Brighton’s cheap and cheerful hotel stays. No frills but nicer than some of the others, plus the local area has good places to eat - and supermarkets for real budget dining. It’s not the Pellirocco but fine as a bed for the night.

Avoid at all costs.

Avoid! The receptionist claimed the hotel clearly stated ID was needed to check in, but could not show anywhere on the booking / check in information where this was written. Completely unacceptable to charge for a room but then refuse to let a customer stay due to a condition that they kept entirely secret from the customer. Very rude / condescending receptionist.

Staff were polite. Quite. Would, no will go again.

Cheap and cheerful

Cheap and cheerful,it’s ok for yourself but I wouldn’t take the wife or family there. Single room you can’t swing a cat

Strawberry Fields

Had a fine time, everything was a good reasonable standard, clean room. The cleaner / maintenance young gentleman that greeted me at reception as I was early for check in, was absolutely wonderful, thoughtful, considerate and very friendly. He couldn’t possibly have been more considerate regarding my arrival.

Room was nice a lot of stairs though

Booked this through Hoteles and it didnt specify it was a shared bathroom until we got to the Hotel. Luckily the hotel man was very kind and managed to change our room with one with a shower inside it. The hotel is quite basic, quite noisy, we woke up multiple times in the night as you could hear the upstairs people using their keys to get into the door and also our neighbour. Paper thin walls. mattress bigger than the actual bed, and bed linen coming loose in the middle of the night. Dont think we will every stay here again.

The property ok although sash windows not secure or fit for purpose especially as it was a basement room with no real security

Nice property

The room and public areas were overall in very good condition and clean. The bathroom showed a few signs of wear but nothing to affect the stay. The room was fairly basic but I appreciated the en suite. The staff were very helpful and polite. Parking isn't all that straightforward. Street parking is tight, or alternatively you can use Chapel Street car park which I wouldn't recommend to nervous drivers due to some tight spots and corners entering and exiting the facility.

My room it was so small...not like on the picture i saw when i did the reservation. I didn't like sharing the toilet....nothing specified about this on reservation page....it was a very unlikeled surprise. Very disappointed 😞

Tired. Stayed in basement, damp smell, low ceiling, shower very slow draining.

I am going to be conpletly honest- The room we were gievn was nothing, and I mean nothing like the photos, I did see other rooms, and they were nicer, but the room we were given, which we paid £187 for one night for, was a box room, it was like a prison cell, and we ddint have our own toilet, for nearly £200 for a single night! You would expect a toilet. The bed was actually very comfortable, there was a shoeer in the room, but as I mentioned, it was a box room, the walls are very very thin so you can hear others talking...and other activties, were all there for a good time, so that didnt bother me, what really annoyed me was how the room was advertised and what we got, its a lot to pay for such a small dissapointing room, BUT it was convient, location was great, could see the sea, but I think the price we were charged was a joke. The staff let us keep our stuff there, but wernt very welcoming, they told us to be quiet when we were only talking to each other. If the room was half the price, I would definitely stay again.

Mess on staircase for the entire stay bathroom door wouldn’t close broken flush , extractor fan didn’t work no hook on bathroom door long hairs on tiles no wardrobe as shown in picture plus the bed was uncomfortable and very noisy when you moved around to get comfortable and the main door handle was not screwed to the door plus hairs in other bed apart from that I would highly recommend you don’t stay there

Very pleasant, helpful staff who straight away sought to address any complaints. Very bright, positive atmosphere. Interesting building and decor. Very clean bathroom, towels and bedding. Very close to the sea. Generally upbeat, happy atmosphere. I would definitely recommend it.

If you have ears, don't stay here.

Druggies arguing outside at 3am, windows so thin you could hear every word. Light above sink in bathroom didn't work, neither did extractor fan. kept awake by people upstairs, 3am to 5am, how thin are the floors?? When we arrived the front door glass was being replaced as someone had smashed it in, classy.

It was okay

It was ok. The hotel is a bit tired but for the price there wasn’t much to complain about.

Nice room, but woken every morning by slamming doors & loud creaky floors. People leaving early for work very loud and noisy. A fridge would have been a bonus. The heating was good. Asked for extra blankets and duvet but none spare. Beds quite hard not very comfortable however nice spacious room.

V good location. Near the beach, town centre and transport links. Room was fine. Clean with all the amenities you would expect. Would recommend for a short break.

Stay

It was ok, room didn’t look like the pictures, the blind didn’t work so was unable to close blinds, the screws fell out the door handle so had to be carful with that, window didn’t open either so the room was very humid. Bed comfy and staff friendly

I really liked Strawberry Fields, it was nicely positioned on the sea front, it was clean & had all the amenities i needed, i would definitely book here again.

Weekend away

Very nice “weekend” stay - very aged building, floors all in a slant (making drunk walking interesting) room we had was recently painted (and the smell of paint was strong) - parking is a lottery - but a fantastic location - pleasant staff - dated rooms

On arrival we were met by reception staff who read us the rules like a robot. The room was so basic for £145.20 a night we wasn’t expecting a cheap thin mattress, the bed was on a slant which felt like you was heavy headed as your legs were higher then your head. The shower was not cleaned the grout had orange mould in and the sink had limescale all around the plug hole. Not acceptable Broken shutter blinds which let loads of light in. Stains on the carpet Bed side Lights to high from the bed out of reach Tv in a poor position The main fire door was non compliant due to the massive gaps around the door. We had no sleep what so ever as people were so loud talking on the steps on the property outside. This happened on two occasions for hours around 1am and 3am. In the end we opened the blinds and asked them to leave. Cheap bed We spoke with reception in the morning and were told we should have rung the emergency line. No apology nothing. The emergency line we were told to call seems to be a person on site but not on reception possibly asleep. We left but returned as we wasn’t happy with the outcome. And spoke to the same man who could have handled this situation better it seemed like it was our problem and he didn’t want to help. So we have asked to hear from the manager and await his response. Location was perfect but we will definitely not be returning back here. Poor room quality not worth £145

Very grubby. Filthy stained carpet. Pathetic towels and blanket when requested. I’d give it 2 out of 10 I’d like a refund as price was exhorbitant

Very small room. Bed comfortable

The rooms did not look like what they did online. There was an awful smell of drains in the room as soon as you walk in. There were also bubbles and cracks on the ceiling and wall paper- not to mention the small shower. The location was very good .

We stayed in the quadruple room, and it was great! Clean and comfortable with a great price. The location was very close to the ocean and pier. We loved it.

Prime location but very rundown and very noisy.

The hotel is fairly run down and it’s not a good place for someone who is easily disturbed by noise or other guests who are in a room with no private bathroom as they are located opposite the rooms that has an ensuite. The doors are very thin and has a simple keyhole lock that doesn’t feel very secure nor does the doors not completely shut tight and leaves a little slight gap that doesn’t shut any noise or sound out from the corridor and the frequent traffic to and from the toilet and shower room of the majority of the guests in the other rooms on every floor level. The location is very good and a prime one in Brighton and the staff were very friendly and nice when I arrived and checked in as well as the next morning for my check out.

Good value for money

Great property for a short term stay not really long that’s about it

How it shows in the pictires its really not that beautiful!!! Bed mattresses was so bad couldnt sleep all night. Window was not working properly! Comparing all of these their charging amount is too high!!! But the location is really good.

This hotel is misrepresented by the photos of strawberry toiletries and colourful decor on their website. Hotel is tired looking, noisy drunks shouting in the garden opposite. Plus points: walkable distance to pier, no breakfast at hotel but close to eateries nearby.

Hotel in a good position near beach and shops. However beds weren't made and dirty cups not replaced.

Not review otherwise would be rubbish

Had a poxi room, with 3 out out of 4 light not working, very little ventilation , TV did not work in the room 3 landing of stairs £215 or so for 2 nights even for Brighton far too expensive for the deal, the management did not get in touch as requested . The only good thing was that the 2 Nd night we were offered a better room which did gelp

Lovely little place, very clean, friendly staff with every interaction, had a very minor issue with the main light when we checked in but fixed within minutes, would definitely stay again.

Good value for money, clean room, good shower

Our stay with Strawberry fields guest house was great. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location was brilliant as it was very accessible to everything, from shops, bars and restaurants.

The property was clean and comfortable. I liked the location. The staff were very polite and helpful. The only 2 things I could make a comment about was it was very hot on 3rd floor could have done with a fan in the room as standard but being fair I did not ask for one and the bed needs a new mattress. I enjoyed my stay and will definitely book again.

The hotel was situated in a nice area, the beach practically on the doorstep which was nice. The reception staff very welcoming and helpful.

Awesome find for lat minute trip to Brighton- location cannot be beat for the value. Very comfortable for end of the week stay.

The room was hot and the view was disgusting with the window absolutely dirty and with views to a sort of patio covered in pigeon droppings. The room was incredibly overpriced and the door had a big gap at the bottom so it could not possibly pass a fire test. We had to open the window as it was so hot but were awaken by 4 by all the pigeons and seagulls flying around

One of the worst night sleep

More of a guest house than a hotel, tiny dated bathroom, the room apart from that was clean and bright. The bed was terrible, two mattresses pushed together, and very very very old and uncomfortable. There is no breakfast at all. No curtains, shutters look lovely, but impossible to sleep after dawn, which was a blessing as the bed was so uncomfortable. So all in all, a very expensive, bright room in a house in desperate need of a refurb.

Terrible service no places to sit no reception and just a make shift hotel in general

It was very convenient for central Brighton. A shame the shower control was either cold or freezing .

Faulty towers

It was dirty bedding and cups The shower had hairs all over it. Noise and mattress As worn out as my grandads slippers Staff was rude.

Location is perfect. Nice for a short stay

Comftable bed, plenty of space, not too noisy at night. Shower in room was clean and water was hot. Shared toilet was always clean. Front desk manned most of the time and staff friendly and helpful. Excellent location.

Great location

When I arrived very friendly and helpful, very clean, but the bed was to singled put together and I paid for a double, so I thought , obviously needs a new bed very uncomfortable......new white blinds let in all the light ........I stayed sure in the storm and watching fromy room was amazing......

Very bad.

Room was too small & separate toilet also too small. Wifi not conect. Heater is no work. They are give me extra small heater. Totally i am disappointed.

One night stay in Brighton.

So, on the plus side the staff were efficient and polite. No problems checking in or out. Very smooth. However - the bed was terrible - had to be 15 yrs old - very uncomfortable. Mentioned this - and the staff said they would take note and correct. So check this if you stay. Location very good. Happy with this. Unhappy with resulting poor sleep quality.

Very clean and great value for the location.

Place was very clean and well looked after. We were looking for a nights stay in Brighton and we found strawberry fields being nearly half price of nearby hotels(it is located in the centre just 5 minutes walk from pier and town centre. We were lucky to find on street parking nearby which was also vere cheap after 6 compared to the local car parks. The hotel seemed quite full but everyone was respectful and the staff at the reception very nice and professional. Would highly recommend it.

It was close to the beach & pier which was very handy! They were having some work done so scaffolding was up around the building which was unfortunate but unavoidable! Was alittle taken aback by the cleanliness considering the reviews were really good, attention to detail is important especially when experience in other places of the same range & area etc! The welcome was great & all information given was clear, well delivered! The room was alittle smaller than what the image looked like but nothing crazy. It was unfortunate though that we were on the lower floor & the ceiling was extremely thin & could hear every movement which wasn’t too bad during the night but early morning was worse due to people checking out etc! The bed wasn’t the greatest & that was the biggest thing for me due to it causing me a bad back! Overall a great location & lovely staff but the place could do with alittle face lift to bring more of its potential charm!!

Our room was in the basement so absolutely no view. There was scaffolding up as well so we had to squeeze through small gap to get into room. It was very cramped in our room and the shower door was broken. The plug sockets were also a little precarious... showing sparks when using. Other guests were smoking on the street outside our window and the smell was coming in our window.

The room was nicely decorated and clean. Staff were friendly. Good location for the beach. Should have thought to check on room, as mum struggled with the stairs, 4 flights. Slightly sloping floor and bathroom a bit small, but was enjoyable anyway.

Great, just what we needed

Pleasantly surprised how clean and well kept our room was considering the price. We had all that we needed, enough space and clean toilet/shower area. Service was swift and no problems.

Second stay, still good value, great location

This is quite a large guest house, it's two buildings knocked into one. It's clearly showing its age, though the rooms are clean and comfortable. It's consistently good value for what it is. For the date I stayed, the Jurys Inn was over double the price, and the Ibis in a far worse location was over 50% more. Staff very friendly. Don't expect the world on a plate and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Delightful very private immaculate in every way very friendly. We normally stay at hotel but strawberry is the one for us in the future. Even the bed was so comfortable decent shower that made a change. A breath of fresh air. Kind regards John yvonne

Lovely weekend away 31.8-2.9.2020

Hotel was lovely, staff were all very accomadating including letting us leave our luggage early before check in, and after check out so we could go out and enjoy more time around brighton.. Room was lovely and perfrct for us as well.. We will defimately be coming back and staying here again.

Stayed one night all good

Nice location, nice room, lovely staff!

The staff were so lovely! The bed was comfy, good water pressure and nice warm showers, and we were able to check in early. The room itself is a little dated but perfectly clean, and in a great location for exploring the city. The park outside can mean there is a little noise at night, so something to be aware of if you're a light sleeper.

The room was very clean and tidy... staff helpful and friendly...excellent location, just 10 or so doors up from Brighton seafront.. will defo stay there again.

Not good.

It was very hot, we asked for a fan and the guy at reception never came with one. We had to sleep in a very hot room with the window closed because as soon as you opened it, you could hear all the drunk people and traffic outside. A really unpleasant night.

Amazing

Location, service and room were amazing. The room was clean and well equipped with tea making facilities. We had a room with a private bathroom and a great view of the sea. Would definitely recommend
