Great spot
I put my friend here He loved it Has a lift which he needed Super breakfast He was thrilled
Our room was at the roof top (also where breakfast is served) with the great view of the pyramid. You also get to see the sound and light show from here. Rooms are renovated and breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Duvets have stains and one of the bathrooms has poor drainage. Overall we had a pleasant stay. Will highly recommend especially if you want room with the great view of the pyramid.
What is not to love. The roif terrace faces the pyramids, its just wonderful. Staying here was a highlight for me. The rooms are clean and modern, everything you need including a kettle and excellent shower. The road is a bit noisy, but thats Cairo, and the general location outshines everything. The staff are lovely, would highly recommend!
During my stay at this hotel I was almost sexually assaulted by the hotel manager. To be fair this is probably not a problem you’d run into if you’re not a solo female traveler, but it was still a very scary situation that unfortunately ruined my trip. If you decide to stay here please be careful of Hytham.
What a view!
Amazing hotel. The view was breathtaking and the service was outstanding. We watched the light show at dusk from the terrace. Ate a delicious breakfast while gazing out at the pyramids. They even escorted us to their favorite felafel restaurant where we ate 6 different times. This hotel was a highlight of our experience in Egypt.
This hostel has a Superb view! You can see the 3 pyramids with the sphinx in the balcony of the hostel. Good price and also good services. Recommended.
Nice place nice poeple will stay again. awesome view
Good location for the pyramids. Good family running it. Needs renovation for the beds, for the toilets, shower etc and it should not have 5 beds in it, but OK for three.
Great location, friendly staff, easy to locate
Great location, friendly staff, reasonable rate, simple breakfast, easy to locate, 1 min walking distance to the KFC & ,Pizza hut restaurant & mama shop.
Perfect view of Sphinx and Great Pyramids.
Hotel location is near Pyramids entrance gate. Perfect view of the pyramids and sphinx. Nice arabic style breakfast. Staff are friendly. I was picked up at the airport as agreed. The hotel building is nice but it Would be great if the room assigned to me was clean and ready to use. I arrived around 3:00 a.m. and had to request to change the beddings as there were visible signs that it has been used previously. On our check out around 3:30 am, hotel arranged us a car service to the airport. The lady gave us a very old car 70’s or 80’s that cant even run more than 30 mph at the super highway. After 10-15 min of driving, we got a flat tire and we were standing on the side of the dark road of the super highway without an early warning device. Thank’s God another taxi stopped and we’re able to catch our flight on time.
Excellent location
Excellent location in front of sphinx and pyramids Very helpful staff. Thanks to Shima'a
Get out of your modern comfort zone.
Views of Giza were amazing. Can’t beat the free sound and light show. Staff was friendly and very willing to help out. We were in room 2 and had four double sized beds in our room with average comfort. No phone or TV in the room but you don’t stay at this hotel to be in the room. You stay here for the view and authentic Egyptian experience and breakfast. A bit different from modern hotels but great experience for a couple nights. My only complaint was the constant temperature change in the water. If you stay in room two just remember, you’ll have three seconds of ice cold water followed by six seconds of hot. Go ahead and try the Egyptian experience.
Pressure, pressure and pressure to buy more.
It was the worst place I've been in my life, only because of all the pressure I always had to buy something from them! I found them very impolite. You are just a source of money, that was my feeling. You cannot trust them. I was so happy to leave! Every 10 seconds, water in the shower turn cold for 1 second. Maybe only in my room. But the view from the top was perfect! And those working at breakfast and cleaning were much more friendly. Sadly, you should stay away from this place.
Next to the Pyramids
Very helpful staff, owner. Good price. Room !ocated right next to the Pyramids.staff were the only ones who did not have their hand out all the time for money, like the guides at the pyramids, and other locals.
Great view out my door
If there was not so much pressure to buy stuff in the lobby it would be fine. The hote has a great view but the neighborhood was difficult due to lots of scamming.
Great Location and Awesome for groups
I had a awesome stay the guest family was so nice and accommodating. My room was clean and had the best view of the Giza Pyramids. We also had hot water lol
Terrible Place - Buyer BEWARE!
Pros: Good view of pyramids, lots of charging outlets. Cons: where do I start? The owner asked us our plans for tomorrow and then he gets all of his buddies involved. His friend Abdullah takes you to the pyramids and then to all of his friends, all of them asking you for money for something trivial like taking a picture. Then he takes you to a gift shop to buy more things, then wants you to tip people and give them money. Then the owner tells us we pay 10 dollars for an evening meal. It turned out to be 20 dollars each (40 total) for a meal that looked like it was worth 5 dollars...some chicken, bread, and vegetables. They are running a classic racket, and will take advantage of your European kindess by shaking you down for money your entire stay there. The wifi sucks, the owner is dishonest, and all his little minions are there to do one thing.....take money out of your wallet. Beds are not comfortable and the area is extremely filthy. Buyers beware!
Unsurpassed view and memorable experience
I highly recommend Sphinx Guesthouse not only for the best view of the Giza Plateau but for the warm greeting and great care that Mr Gouda takes to make you feel at home. A very kind and gentle man, he will assist you wherever needed. You get a taste of the local culture here and are always welcomed to join the boys for a cup of tea or coffee downstairs. Mr Ali is a wonderful driver if you need to get around to the sights or be picked up/dropped off at the airport and Abdullah will enrich your tour of the pyramids with his infectious character as you ride camels through the desert. I highly recommend their services. It's not the Hilton, it is a small family operation and the rooms are quite old and dated but if you want a memorable experience with a taste of local life and the best view in town then go with an open heart and you will be rewarded.
Perfect view of Pyramids Giza
Well this is a family run guest house overlooking the Pyramids & Sphinx. Its the best view from the rooftop of all the hotels in Giza,, you can watch the sound & light show nightly & enjoy a home cooked dinner if you wish & watch the sunset. The owner Gouda speaks excellent English & can help you plan your adventure to anywhere you desire to go. If you are looking for an authentic experience with the daily dance of life its abundance from the rooftop will not disappoint as camel's, arabian horses, carriages are abundant to whisk you to & from the Pyramids. If your looking for 5 star its not for you. There's daily breakfast provided also there's a KFC & Pizza Hut across the street. We will be back to stay here again! So enjoy you next adventure....
not bad
will go back, not bad at all for the ptice
Unsafe, slimy experience
First off- the Giza neighbourhood is not safe. I would highly recommend staying somewhere else if you are looking to venture out on your own- its jam packed with people at all times looking to deceive you in order to rip you off. Secondly, this hotel was awful. The view was incredible, but everything else about the experience was truly subpar- this is the worst place I've ever stayed. The room itself- the sheets dont fit the bed (and arent changed at all by housekeeping- just bed made). My shower was broken, as was the bathroom door- it wouldnt stay closed at all. the tv/dvd player was a 10inch crt monitor and no dvd player in sight. Also, the bathroom window was smashed- so they covered it badly with a garbage bag??? Worse, however- are the other people at the hotel that are just there to mooch off you as well. There are about 3-4 men who perpetually sit outside the hotel and assail you in or out to either 1- take camel rides 2-buy from the shop on the main floor 3- will "walk with you" to the nearby shop for "security" and then will ask for tips. Its exhausting enough to deal with this all day as a tourist, I didnt want this greasy sales strategy to follow me to the hotel as well. At one point as well, one of these people attempted to give my room to a new guest while I was inside it????? Overall, an entirely negative experience. Mainly the Giza neighbourhood, but additionally the hotel is just truly awful. Take my advice and stay somewhere else!
Come for the rooftop view
The hostel was very basic but the view was worth it. Recommend to book 1 night for the view at the roof top. View the sunset followed by light & sound show at 6pm(Arabic), 7pm (English) & 8pm (other). Tasty Egyptian dinner set can be had on the roof for 10USD per pax. Great way to enjoy the evening/night view. Ask for the rooftop room.
Great view, terrible location
The owner seemed very nice, but here is a tip to anyone looking to book a camel ride. Agree on a price beforehand and don't pay until the end. No one can force you to tip unless you feel they did you an extra service beyond what you paid for. And tipping large sums is ridiculous, the locals will to to make you feel bad if you tip small amounts when they just want your money. That's what happened when the owner asked us to book through him. We agreed, and his friends took more money from us. It was our first day, otherwise that wouldn't happen to us again. I didn't like the location. Everyone was money hungry, try booking outside Giza and taking a taxi or Uber to the pyramids and back. Other than that, ask for a room closer to the middle of the hotel. WiFi is non existent at the top most of the time. And book your own camel ride at the pyramids after negotiating the total price, not through the hotel. Have fun!
Great view and affordable
it was good, the owner was nice so was his daughter. the service was fine. The view is a plus , awesome view to the pyramids, just when i woke up opened the window and the pyramids where in from of me. The car service they have Mohamed great and very friendly. All the team was nice and helpful.
Can't Go Wrong with Sphinx Guest House
Our stay the Guest house was great, the family owned hotel the owner Mr Gouda very nice cooperative and guided us on each step even arranged a pick up and drop off from the airport also arranged the tour for ushe gave us his cell phone if we had any problem, the breakfast was very nice prepared by the owner's daughter, the whole stay experience was like visiting a family in Giza our stay was very comfortable, Pizza hut and Kentucky fried chicken next to the guest house can't go wrong with the choice of this guest house Hotel cost was very reasonable. Can see the light show at the pyramid right from the roof of the Hotel and see the 3 main pyramids from the roof
Room with a view
Do not expect a 5star hotel. But what you get is a clean comfortable place to sleep with the best view in Giza. The airport shuttle was reasonably priced and convenient. The meals were well prepared and reasonably priced. The negatives were their us no elevator. The food did not change over my 4 days there. If you are looking for a nice comfortable inexpensive lodging this is your place. If you want creature comforts this is not your place. The view from the balcony and the nightly pyramids show was added value. I will stay here again
Love the place
Close to the pyramid. We practically book our entire trip to the sphinx guess house including Accomodation and our daily excursion/activities. We enjoyed our morning breakfast although no water or juice provided for kids only coffee or tea. The bathroom Needs to be renovated. Very important especially if you have foreigner guest. The whole trip was very memorable. We even have a dinner at the balcony paid $10 pp very delicious authentic egyptian food (grilled chicken, mixed veggie stew, rice, condiments, egyptian cola, and fruits for dessert while watching the light and sound pyramid show.
please dont spoil ur vacation by staying here dont go there please.the place is stinky dirty, infact cairo is not worth visiting
Perfect location
Very short. Location is perfect for free sound and light by night and nice view from the terrace.
Horrible, unclean hotel. DO NOT book this hotel!
Worst experience I've ever had, this is not even a one-star hotel. I stayed at Giza Sphinx House for 6 days, please read my review carefully below: PROS: - Good view of the Giza necropolis, but this is also offered by several other hotels in the area CONS: - The hotel owner is a snake oil salesman, tries to investigate everything you do so he can make commission off your activities. - Hotel lights were always off at night, I fell down 3 steps while carrying my own luggage because they turned off lights - Bed sheets were dirty and not clean - Only one face towel provided per person, impossible to dry off after shower - Washrooms infested with ants and other insects crawling every where - Hot water limited to 3 minute shower max - Thin walls, you can hear neighbors around you - Lousy hotel staff always looking to cheat you and take money off any of your activities - I asked the hotel owner not to allow staff to enter our room, they continued to enter regardless of my request - Owner cheated me with his $20 USD dinner which consisted of 6 pieces of mostly bones from chicken, 2 small vegetable soups, burned okra and burned tomatoes and a small plate of white rice - Owner would investigate all our activities and would charge us additional amounts for his personal gains - DO NOT purchase anything from this owner, he sells papyrus art for 1,200LE (EGP) but you can purchase the exact same papyrus in Khan Khalili bazaars for 65LE (EGP) - This is not a 3-star mid-range hotel!
Dreaming view from room!
The beast view of the Great Pyramids form this hotel, the host are very friendly. You can enjoy the night light show from the roof. It just need a little bit of improvement in cleanness, but nothing too serious.
Dirty place; go for other options
Place is grossly dirty..... meager breakfast with very few options to eat..... greedy owners..... Owners are trying to make money by cheap tricks like (1) selling water at a costlier price (they try to sell a water bottle for 5 Egyptian pounds when the same water bottle is available for 3 Egyptian pounds next door) (2) Giving you local services like horse cart ride, airport taxi etc through them at a premium (may be they are getting cut) but the same services if you go and bargain locally then you may get them for half the price
Best View of the Pyramids
We stayed in the Guest House for four nights. This was my family's first time in Egypt. Our room was neat and had a very nice view of the pyramids. We had four full size beds in the room which was more than enough sleeping space. There was a wardrobe for us to put our clothes. There was no TV or end tables. The bedding consisted of a flat sheet, a pillow case and a bed spread. We had a private bathroom with a small tub/shower. One of the best things about this place is the the view of the pyramids from the roof. Staying here will allow you to experience the nightly Light and Sound Show. Also, there is a free breakfast every morning consisting of authentic Egyptian food. Mr. Gouda, the owner and his family live in the Guest house and were good hosts. The first floor of the is a gift shop. Mr. Gouda will give you a discount on all the merchandise so you don't have to worry about getting ripped off in town. Also, Mr. Gouda is well known and can hook you up with a personal guide/taxi drivers for your tourist needs. If you are used to 4 and 5 star hotels or if you are a germ-o-phobe, you may have some issues. However, for my family, it served the purpose and we were able to make some wonderful memories.
Cute hotel with killer view of the pyramids
My overall experience here was fabulous. Gouda (I'm probably spelling that wrong...) and his daughter, Jasmine, are such caring people. He called me several times on my way to the hotel to make sure the taxi driver wasn't trying to take advantage of me, which was really reassuring for a young American female traveling alone in Egypt. He helped me arrange a reasonably priced tour of the pyramid, and seemed genuinely interested in me and my plans. He was very protective and always made sure I was safe and happy. Jasmine was fun to talk to always made sure I was happy. My room was a little small, but it was clean and had an amazing view of the pyramid and sphinx, and the air conditioner was great. I will definitely stay here again if I ever come back to Giza.
It is my second stay at Sphinx Guesthouse after 2017. For me, it has the best view to the Sphinx and the Pyramids. Rooms are big with great views. Evening time you can watch the Sound & Light Show for free. I arrived at 3 am and already got my room. Nice food also on the rooftop terrace.
Excellent service, room different from offered
Service was excellent, Mohamed I believe was the name of the manager was very helpful, however, the room I was offered did not have the conditions I saw on the website, it was of an inferior quality
Overbooked happened, be aware no guarantee
We booked the room already, but was told there were no room for us when check in. It seems like rooms are over-booked and not only happened to us. We also meet another travelers faced the same issues.
Quality/price great deal
Amazing location! View from the terrace perfect. Breakfast simple but ok. For the price I paid I couldn't expect anything more. Recommended!
Friendly Staff and Amazing sighting
Friendly Staff, specially the Receptionist called Shemaa. Also the Mister who Care the place. Amazing views from the window of the room. I felt safety within the hotel. Thank you.
Close to the pyramids.
A warm welcome, very kind service right from the start, a nice room with a very spectacular wiev. Clean rooms, toilets and restaurant. Breakfast at the time we wanted and smiling staff. It is not a new place, but it is kept very well and the placement is excellent, if you come to see the pyramids I will be very happy to stay the same place again..
Best view to the Pyramids
The guesthouse is located exavtly opposite the Sphinx (200 m). Great for watching sunsets and tbe Sound & Light Show. Very nice breakfast. Very reasonable priced for this location. If I will be back in Giza Sphinx Guesthoudr is my first choice.

Wonderful location. Great fried fish and seafood soup
