Superbly convenient, subpar quality, trade-off?

First of all, the best thing about this hotel is its location. The proximity to Helsinki-Vantaa is amazing, and the frequent shuttle bus (a full city-size bus) between the airport and hotel made a quick overnight stay very easy. The hotel breakfast was also free and quite tasty! The people working at the hotel were very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, this was needed soon after we arrived they were because the first room we were assigned had a door chain bracket that was literally torn out from the door. We were placed in the room next door very quickly, however. In general, the rooms were not well kept-up. Many of the surfaces were damaged or scuffed, the furniture was very spartan, and the power switch to one of the bed lamps did not function. The third bed was a cot which had the approximate texture of pudding. The showerhead also required careful water adjustment so as not to escape from its holder and squirt everywhere around the bathroom. It became actually a bit amusing to find the next thing that was a bit off. ;) All that said, the location, friendliness, convenience, and cost were probably worth it for us as we were only there for a quick night’s sleep before an international flight the next day. So overall, 3/5!

Missed my flight so it was the least expensive for a night. They had a gym, sauna, and free breakfast included. I would recommend booking this hotel to anyone needing a hotel for a night or two.

This is great for the convenience of the airport - I wish I had known about the free shuttle bus to and from the airport when I arrived. (Taxi is expensive) The hotel has excellent facilities and a strong commitment to eco strategies. I enjoyed my first sauna and breakfast is excellent. The restaurant is a bit pricey.. but I will stay again - and also in other locations when I visit Finland

Good quality hotel

Very polite and efficient staff in reception and Restaurant. Rooms were clean and of a decent size. Otherall a very good quality hotel. Only problem we experienced was a parking fine in there car park as we parked incorrectly.

Helsinki airport

The only think that was negative was the icy entrance to the hotel. It had snowed and this turned to slush and icy, not good for older people coming into the hotel off the shuttle bus. Great palce to stay, free airport shuttle buses every 20 to 30 mon. Easy train into the city. I bought a day pass and went sightseeing.

The Property was good,clean and neat. Booked because of Airport Shuttle service. The service was also on time only thing was I formation regarding service was not correctly shared so there was a confusion until reached hotel after that it is very clear.

My room did not have a curtain in the shower cabin. Room was changed without any problems.

Quiet, had everything that I required for my overnight stay. Breakfast good, enjoy my sauna.

Very nice hotel - so clean, quiet, everything is basic but functional, down to the last detail inc strong hangers in the bedroom to hang your jacket. Only suggestion would be to have more varieties of cereal, bread and veggie dishes at breakfast buffet. Also kudos for starting the breakfast buffet at 5am itself! It’s a life saver for folks catching early flights. Needless to say - location is perfect for those wishing to catch a flight. The free shuttle is also a Godsend. Strong wifi as well for office calls

Have booked this hotel for years. Even with previous name. Always good. It’s a pity the restaurant timetable still didn’t recover after covid. Used to be very nice place. There is a restaurant in a next door sister hotel. It is good, but not the same. Unfortunately I found some black spots on a bathroom floor. Water also didn’t come out easily. Beds are comfortable. Will stay again🙂

Breakfast buffet is wonderful and rooms are clean and quiet.

I had two reservations (had to arrive a day earlier than planned because of the rail strike). I explained it to the reception desk when I arrived. No worries. Then we went out for the day and they seem to have forgotten. Consequently, my key wouldn't work, my room hadn't been cleaned, and they claimed I hadn't paid. Fairly easily resolved when I reminded the desk clerk of our situation. Not a big deal, but irritating. Otherwise, the place was great, and because I had an early flight, the proximity to the airport was perfect. Nice place.

There are actually two Scandic hotels right next to each other. The free hotel shuttle bus stops at both hotels. There's not much in the immediate surrounding area except the hotel bars and restaurants. There is a big shopping center that's walkable, maybe 15 min away. Had the sirloin steak for dinner, it was actually quite nice.

Very clean, welcoming atmosphere. Beautiful scandinavian architecture and de or. Did I mention the all important clean?

The best thing was the friendly, understanding and good service at the reception desk by a senior female staff member on the day of check-out and late check-out room extension. I had some issues and she saved by day, actually my week and put a smile on my face. Thank you. I will definitely use this same hotel the next time I am in transit or travelling through the Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport.

Don't visit this hotel.

It was horrible. The service was below everything expecting from a modern airport hotel. When I ordered my food they managed to give me the wrong food and it took all together 60 minutes of waiting time. And I was one of three waiting for food, so no rush hour.

Bit remote without a car but easy to get to using courtesy bus & public transport.Very much a business/overnight stay hotel. Great staff & clean hotel. Restaurant was only open for breakfast & you had to go next door to the conference centre if you wanted a hot meal at night ( covid restrictions ) Not much in the hood after work hours.

extremely efficient check in, clean and simple room

The ladies at the front desk stayed very friendly as there was a long line to check in they where overwhelmed but stayed friendly throughout the customers request.

Arrived late evening at this hotel. I could use sauna before going to bed. I rested very well and could make 10 hour flight next day. Good hearty breakfast was another merit for this hotel.

So essentials were missing. No tissue boxes, conditioner or dirty laundry bags. Restaurant was pricey. On a positive note: room was very clean, bedding was wonderful and beds comfy. Room was very quiet.

I loved my stay. Hotel was quiet and clean and had easy access from the airport and to downtown.

The location is great and staff very friendly. Walking distance to shopping mall and bus service close by. Free wifi in the rooms is good and availability of a gym makes it very comfortable to stay for business or leisure. Free shuttle bus is good but clearer instructions on where to find it would have enabled us to catch the bus. We missed the last one of the day and had to find a taxi. We would have liked more information on dining options. Instead of finding the restaurant is only open for breakfast. A notice to this effect would be useful for people planning their stay.

Dismal location without food options.

It would have been excellent had there been a place to get a meal in the immediate area. The hotel itself has a restaurant, but it was not open during my stay. The food for sale in the lobby was execrable. As I was leaving at 4 AM, I requested a breakfast to go. In a cruel twist of fate, the same questionable sandwiches I had passed up the evening before appeared in my little to go bag.

This hotel is close to the airport and reached via a free shuttle bus. The rooms are small, basic and over-priced. The room was too hot and the air-con didn't work On the night I stayed the restaurant was closed. This is the third hotel I've stayed at near the airport and is the worst of the 3

Convenient to airport - bus comes around every 20 minutes or so to take people from airport to 4 stops. Restaurant closes early and breakfast doesn't start until 6am but hotel "next door" has longer opening times. Covered walkway between the two. we were only waiting overnight for a connecting flight so it was convenient. I would probably pick a different location if I was actually visiting Helsinki. Nothing wrong with hotel but it didn't seem convenient to downtown.

Scandic Aviapolis is a comfortable airport hotel

It is a good hotel to stay near Vantaa Airport and shopping center Jumbo, there is a shuttle bus between the airport and the hotel.

Room is clean and neat. Shuttle bus to/from airport are convenient. Luggage storage is flexible. No kettles and bottle openers in the room. We queued up for 30 mins to borrow an opener at reception, and we were not allowed to bring back the opener to the room, so we needed to went back to the room and got all our beers to reception.

Not a good value.

We arrived at 10 am and were informed early check in cost 15 Euros per hour. So we spent hours in the lobby sleeping on couches. Service was not very nice. Room was ok, but no thrills. Stained furniture and sheets, but beds were comfortable. It is way overpriced for service and amenities. Breakfast was good. Close to the airport, free shuttle.

Worst major chain hotel I have ever stayed in.

(1) I had a lot of difficulty finding this hotel, because since I booked it, the name has changed; no longer Cumulus Vantaa, now Scandic Aviopolis. Email notification would have been good, although it's probably hard for them to keep up, as it has also been the Ramada.(2) The free bus from the airport has changed too - not from Stand 2, now from Stand 21. Again, an email notification would have saved me well over an hour looking for a non-existent bus (due to hotel name change) from a non-existent stop. (3) The hotel beds are separate - ie with a gap between them. (4) The bedside shelf is a tiny metal plate screwed to the wall, so when you push the beds together in order to sleep with your partner, you can no longer reach your shelf. (5) We were not told on check-in that breakfast ends at 9.30am, so the next morning we only managed to obtain a glass of juice and some biscuits after a stand-up row with the staff. (6) Where is the only airport hotel in a capital city to close breakfast at 9.30am? - the Scandic Aviopolois in Helsinki, that's where. So that’s two separate issues – early breakfast closing and not being informed of this. I might add that the evening bar closes at 10.00pm, which is quite early too. (7) I was not allowed any Scandic points because it wasn't a Scandic Hotel when I booked it. Running out of space here, so (8) clueless reception staff (9) some non-functional electrical items in the room. (10) The bathroom soap dispenser is 1.5 metres from the tap.

Brief stay after long train journey to Helsinki and very early flight from airport. When we arrived by courtesy bus, after a short wait in a queue, we were welcomed by a lovely friendly receptionist. She was very efficient and helpful. We had an early flight, leaving on the 5.40 am bus, so only had cereal for breakfast, but there appeared to be plenty of choice.

Expedia confirmation stated that check in was from 2pm onwards..but if you try this be prepared to pay 15 euros or wait until 3pm. This wasn't mentioned in Expedia confirmation! I didn't pay. I waited while eating a late lunch.

Disappointed

Room was not value for money. No tea/coffee making facilities (we were advised no kettles available - all were in use). Small bathroom with a shower curtain that cuts the shower cubicle in half. Could not access the WiFi, had to go down to reception and receive another code. Room was prepaid through WOTIF, however, our credit card was requested and noticed the next morning another charge for the room processed by the hotel. Took about 20mins to correct this; lucky we were checking out early enough to still catch our flight. Staff were very apologetic about this oversight; the hotel had recently changed hands.

Convenient hotel to stay at near the airport

Hotel is newly built so clean. Rooms provide basic comforts. Although most restaurant reviews were bad, we had dinner there once and both the food and service were fine.

Clean modern comfortable room

I found the staff to be very polite and friendly. My room was large , modern and very clean. The bed was soft and and I had a very good night sleep. The hotel was also very quiet. I was surprised to see so many people at breakfast as it was so very quiet in my room. My only complaint would be that the bathroom was cold. There didn’t seem to be any heaters in the bathroom which clearly is a mistake. Otherwise an excellent stay.

Yövyimme matkalle lähtiessämme sekä meno- että paluumatkalla Scandic Aviapoliksessa. Huone oli asiallinen ja siisti. Aamiainen oli riittoisa. Kuljetus lentokentälle ja takaisin toimi hyvin. Asiointi oli miellyttävän ripeää ja sujuvaa, varsinkin paluumatkalla myöhään illalla tämä oli tervetullutta. Ainoa negatiivinen asia oli huonot tyynyt, keski-ikäiset hartiat hiukan jumahtivat. Muuten ei moitittavaa.
